K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Visa - Getting married before the visa comes through
Just a thought..... If you get married (even just a ceremony without legalities) you would have to (technically speaking) lie about it during your interview. Lying to USCIS in any form is not recommended at all and the interview will be stressful enough without the added worry about a lie. I may be wrong, but this is my opinion. Sveta and I wanted a autumn wedding and we were just as pleased with a Christmas wedding. August is POSSIBLE. Best of luck!

what's igor's list

Igor's list is a timeline here on VJ. It helps members to guesstimate approximately when they journey will go to the next step. It is a useful tool, as long as you remember it is a calculation based on the members updating their personal timeline from their profile. You can find it under timeline. Please update your profile if you have not already. ??

USCIS Service CentersVSC Updated their processing times page, and it's not pretty
Ok... Something strange happened. I just checked it myself and it still shows 5 months!!!! So, everyone please don't panic. Maybe there was a glitch earlier or something, but I have checked it several times in the past few minutes and it remains 5 months. I linked the web address if anyone wants to look (and might not know where to look).

https://egov.uscis.g...rd/ProcTimes.do

To check it enter I-129F (for fiancé visa)
Then K-1/K-2 (for unmarried)
Then VSC for Vermont

USCIS Service CentersUSCIS "My Case Status"

Hi VJ Members,

I've been trying to check my case status on the USCIS website tonight, and I keep getting the message "You are not authorized to view this page. The Web server you are attempting to reach has a list of IP addresses that are not allowed to access the Web site, and the IP address of your browsing computer is on this list." Could USCIS really have blocked my IP address? Anybody else getting this message.

Yeah... Same here. I checked it several time and it said forbidden. No worries!! ??

Call the consulate like NOW or Monday at least

They've answered my emails very quickly and well. It's not that difficult, but at least they DID ask me to come to the interview also (different visa though).

Yeah, I've always received a response from them in about 2-3 days (just like it says).....

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)221g Moscow

If I read your post correctly, you've had no direct communication with the Consulate regarding wanting you to return -- only what your fiancee has relayed to you.

If that's the case, the FIRST thing you need to do (and should have done already) is contact the Consulate (call or email) and find out what THEY say regarding wanting you to come back.

Moscow is generally a fairly easy consulate and in almost a decade of following the activity of the Moscow consulate I've never heard of them requesting the US citizen to come in for an interview for a K-1.

??... And... Maybe the CO that she spoke to will be available and you could ask him/her personally if there is anyway around it, just tell him/her the issue about vacation time as well as financial constraints.... I think it could not hurt to call.

United Kingdomhas anyone experienced trouble in the relationship because of this long process?

I think in our case it's fair to say it's added a lot of stress but if anything the stress is a test of the relationship for us, although if I have to wait much longer I may go slightly insane.

Only slightly? ??

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusMoscow Embassy K-1

We just has our interview last month, the engagement ring never came up. There were more questions about how we meet, how did we communicate, how often, and when and where did we meet in person.
Yuliana said total interview time was about 5-7 min, all in english

Thank you Aaron!!! I appreciate it very much!!!! Congrats by the way!!!! ??????????

May be enough. You both need to sign new Letters of Intent to Marry, same as you sent in with the petition.
How many times have you two met in person? How long has your relationship been?
Moscow can get squirrely sometimes.....just ensure your fiancee knows all about you.....how many children you've sired, all those wives you had before, all about those criminal convictions....other than that the interviews are usually mundane.

We have only met one time in person, but I am planning to go back before her interview. That way she will have her engagement ring and new photos of us too. I proposed Jan 1, 2012. But, we've been talking since June of last year. She knows things about me that even my priest would never know!!!????

Thank you very much for your input!!!!! It was well received and greatly appreciated.

Can anyone tell me what my fiancé (Sveta) can expect when she goes for her interview at the Moscow Embassy? We are still waiting for NOA2, but a heads up would be very welcome. I front loaded with 6 photos, Skype chat logs, airline receipts, etc... I know she will need my I-134, tax records, letter from my employer and her visa application and I intent to send 6-8 more photos and recent Skype logs plus recent emails!!! Is it all enough??? Thanks in advance!!!!!! ???????

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusSlavic, Russia /Ukraine area cultural differences.

I know what you are talking about here. Olya is the same, she has insisted that it is better she SHOWS it than SAYS it. But what is wrong with both?

Yeah, absolutely!!!! But, I will say this much... She has been doing it. At least 1 time every day, and as much as 6 times on a few ocassions. Just like I told Sveta, when you are here and not 6000 miles away, then you can show it!!! But, you know, it's learned responses. She has never heard her mother, father or sister say it, therefore it is difficult for her to say it, but she does it and I'm proud of her!!!!

I know that there are some incredible women in America, but I had never experienced anything like Sveta. Gary is exactly right, you WILL know Immediately if and why the are angry with you. But, after the storm is over, it's over. Sveta will be angry and pout a bit, but she always has a valid reason, and when satisfied that I have learnt my lesson is back to being an angel. Once they fall in love (if you are a good man!!!) they will not stray. You will NEVER force them to do ANYTHING, but if you ask, the will do it without hesitation. Another thing, Sveta asked ME what things she needed to change about herself to make me happy!!!! #######? Lol. I told her there was only 1 request (not requirement). I would like to HEAR I love you at least 1 time a day. It may be silly, but I want her to be able to express it vocally as well as physically. Sex, I won't talk about because she would be offended. She is superb in every situation and is drop dead beautiful too. just my 2 cents worth.
Jamie and SvetaMaleRussia2012-04-02 16:20:00

I will try to be a little more direct in my answer. In the matter of physical intimacy I found Ukrainian women to be more comfortable, open and accepting of their bodies and yours with few hang ups, restrictions, etc. I know my wife better than any other woman of course but most have the "my husband needs to get that at home" attitude and pretty much provide whatever you want when you want it if there is no physical injury involved.

In general morals, FSU people in general, not particularly women, seem to embrace the concept of situational morality more than Americans. For several generations and through periods of difficulty Americans could not imagine or tolerate, FSU people always found a way. They will accept things Americans will not, one reason corruption is so pervasive at all levels of...anything. They have a very well developed and relaible circle of friends and know where to get just about anything at any time. And an FSU friend is a friend indeed. The word has very strong connotations and they have no concept of what we oftent refer to as "friends". They would call them "acquaintances" or "classmates" or "collueges" Not "friends".

Rod Blagoyovich attempts to sell Obama's Senate seat for $$$ in his own pocket. HORROR! Alla says "what did you expect? Of course he does this" shrugs and forgets about it.

If a Ukrainian woman, and I do not know if Moldovans are different, has many hanguos or things about intimacy I would say it is an individual thing and not cultural.

I have to agree completely Gary!!!

Ok. Even though it's very early for us in our process, I have a question....

After Sveta and I marry, the AOS is complete and she's able to travel, what will we need to do to visit her family in Russia? Will we need to file for visas or just me? Any input would be highly appreciated!!!

That about sums it up in a nutshell. Great post!

About the sex with family nearby part. We were staying at her parents dacha for the weekend, and her family was right on the other side of a paper thin wall and she wanted to do it right there. I was like #######? No way. I wasn't that drunk yet to be that stupid. She kept telling me it was no big deal and her family won't mind, but I'm thinking to myself there's no door in the room where were sleeping in, and they have to walk right past us in order to get to the kitchen or even outside the dacha to go the the "out house" next to the banya.

Haha!!!!! Her father caught us HOLDING HANDS and by the way he looked at me I thought he was going to drag a razor across my throat while I slept!!!! I get to experience the banya in 12 weeks!!!!!

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusRUB cultural customs to be aware of
Ok. Basics. As Gary says, they are very direct about sex, but that needs to be the last thing on your mind at first... First, you need to be focusing on learning a bit about Russian customs. Yes, take small gifts for everyone. I took Sveta a gift for every day, but the rest of them 2 small ($7-10) gifts each. It was very warmly recieved as was I. Yes, anytime you go into a home take your shoes off. At the hone where you will be staying, you will need slippers. Never wear a coat or jacket inside, they are considered "dirty outdoor wear". Always compliment her mother's cooking. If you have time, try to learn a few basic words in Russian, it's very helpful. At a restaraunt, follow her lead. Be watchful (without staring) of her moves and do as she does. If she really likes you, she will guide you. Affection.... In public, hand holding is acceptable. With her family present, the same (unless she initiates). With friends a light kiss and hand holding. Sex.... Every girl is different. I was worried that Sveta would initiate sex in her parents home and be offended when I said no (purely out of respect for them). The only thing that I did was initiate a kiss on the first night. But they are (for the most part) not shy. They will have what they want, when they want. Just focus on your manners. Treat her like a lady and she will reward you. My FSU is very shy, but I still knew when it was time. Hope some of this was useful?

Sveta says "politics are for men". She will discuss things with me (and ocassionally we do talk politics), and her views and mine seem to be very close... Both could be considered moderate. Not liberal, not conservative. I will be very surprised if she ever decides that she wants to vote. Of course, she certainly has an opinions and I am always very intrigued at what things she says!!

Yeah. You have to practice in order to be good.

It's like watching porn. "If I don't watch these instructional videos how will I ever know what she wants? I mean, come on. I would've never guessed women like to dress up like stuffed animals and get peed on."

Yeah, I just about passed out on that one!!!! Lmao!!!!!

Now Alla is a woman that truly enjoys lingerie for everyday use(thank you GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!) but she thinks VS is outrageously expensive (she is also very frugal) but she never goes to TJ Maxx without making me "a present" of a pair of lace panties or something...for $2, why not? Have fun! She also likes Marshalls and even JC Penny and BonTon and Macy's when they have sales.

JC Penneys we have, she will like it and Walmart. I love a girl in lingerie........
