K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFee paid at NVC for K1 visa

my fiance also told me that he paid $350 when he sent our I129F packet.

(IDK what's the $10 for.. maybe extra fee for UPS or what.. but all in all he spent $350 when he mailed our I129F)

this is what i know:

$340 - the I129F application fee

$240 - visa fee (paid thru BPI only; online or at the bank)

$223 - Medical Exam fee (paid in peso: P9,143) effective Feb. 1, 2013

$0/P0 - 2GO delivery

DELBROS fee - upon searching on Google, i found several threads regarding DELBROS fee, i even found these threads here..

http://www.visajourn...34-delbros-fee/

http://www.visajourn...6-delbros-fees/

http://www.visajourn...s-fee-vanished/

http://www.visajourn...n-fees-delbros/

there is no more DELBROS fee for Document verification or visa delivery..

If i am not mistaken, it has been waived since October 2008...

unless there is now a new update..then we should all know about it..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAfter NOA2

Somehow, I am confused, because I know that NBI clearance is also a police clearance in the Philippines. lol. but why do we still have a local police clearance that can be obtained in the municipal hall if we already have an NBI?lol. And because I am confused, I would still stick to my original plan, which is obtaining a local police Clearance.. :) that way, it will lessen my worry..  Besides, I also submitted a local police clearance along our I-129F and it won't take too much time in getting it. .. Because I am in doubt, I would just play it safe.. :) and get a local PC even if they won't ask me that. lol. I would not let a P250 cause me delays.lol

Robb&AnnNot TellingPhilippines2013-05-17 08:21:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAfter NOA2

i only knew that some CR1's are required to send a local police clearance from our country aside from the NBI to NVC...

with K1, i haven't heard of any who were asked for a local police clearance from our municipal.. i only knew that K1ers are only submitting NBI clearance at the embassy..if any had exp submitting a local PC during the interview, maybe they can enlighten us.. or if in doubt, then let's just get a local PC to be sure.. :)

though I found this from the previous post http://www.visajourn...lice-clearance/

5. POLICE CERTIFICATES: A police certificate is required from a country in which the applicant lived for more than one year (six months if you are applying for a K visa) after turning 16 years of age. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names, married names, aliases or nicknames ever used while in the country in question, including different spellings of all names ever used. Information on how to secure police certificates from countries where these are available may be obtained by contacting U.S. Embassy Manila?s Immigrant Visa Branch or an Embassy/Consulate of the country from which the police certificate is required.

Link: http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3217.html

thought what was quoted above is actually for "immigrants" it did mentioned "if you are applying for a K visa"

So, i think to be safe, then let's just get a Police Clearance then. It won't hurt to be over-prepared I guess. :)

The NBI Clearance is the Philippine police clearance issued by the National Bureau of Investigation.

http://www.philippin...-clearance.html

OTHER COUNTRY POLICE CERTIFICATES.

Applicants aged 16 years and older must also present police certificates from other countries where they have lived for six (6) months and more after reaching the age of 16. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names, aliases or  nicknames used while in the country in question, including different spellings you have used of those names. Country-specific information on how to secure police certificates is available on the State Department's website at

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAfter NOA2

yes. you can now start collecting those documents you've mentioned

even  early in June it's fine. as long as everything goes well

ya..if u r getting a Police clearance from abroad, it might take longer.. so it's better to get it as early as now or even before..

CENOMAR - 6 months validity (but it's better if it is a latest copy); u can order online,go to NSO, or in serbilis center (it could take days to a week or two in getting this)

NBI - valid for 1 year (but it's better to present a less than 6 month old nbi during the interview); pay thru GCASH, register online, book for an appointment in NBI's satellite offices or go directly to NBI main/satellite offices (could take 1 day - 1 week or 1 month in other places)

Police Clearance

- from abroad ( i think it has no expiration unless u get back there )

- local (for visa purposes - 60 days in Rizal; not sure in Cavite if the same)

Robb&AnnNot TellingPhilippines2013-05-16 08:06:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1

in our Petition, my Fiance (USC) and I both participated in organizing our first packet.

Since my fiance has most of the evidence of meeting in person, like the passport stamps, luggage tags, receipts, flight boarding passes, itineraries;

so he was the one who compiled those. He scanned, saved and uploaded in Google drive.

And for me, since my fiance is working and i am not, I did the compilations of the chat logs, pictures of meeting in person, call logs, remittances receipts,etc..

I also made the draft of the forms we will be needing

then we put all these docs in Google Drive where both of us can access the files then edit what needs to be edited, reviewed, finalized then printed.

then the other docs that needs to be sent from my country were shipped just in time then my fiance compiled all the papers then sent to USCIS.

Google drive helped us a lot esp in reviewing our papers... we can both at the same time open a file then discuss then finalize..  both of us sees what one put on the form and if it is right or wrong..or if it needs to be edited, etc.. so I think Google drive and the likes helps a lot.. atleast one would not wonder what the other put on his/her form before printing or signing.

So for those who are just starting in compiling their first packet, Google drive and the likes is what i can recommend to use

Usually the older one have fear than the younger one I guess; he said he feel bad as Asian usually look younger and he actual age 10 years elder than me. Once at London we lined in to visit a Museum, and the counter officer told me "student and age below 21 is half price". rofl.gif

I am a bit naughty, I like to address him "Uncle" as well... devil.gif

lol. this also happened to us when me and my fiance went to Imelda Marcos' shoe museum. the lady officer asked me, "are you a student?" rofl.gif  because the entrance fee is half or cheaper for students. laughing.gif . most of the time, people thinks that i am below 18. but i take it as a compliment because even when i reach 30 or 40 i would still look half of my age. rofl.gif

Anything unique or different stands out, yes. It will get attention. The question is whether it will get negative attention, positive attention, or neutral attention.

I think that with the younger, modern population, inter-racial couples are nothing unique. I seriously doubt people will receive any negative attention for being with a partner of a different race -- I see it every day. My own fiancee is of a different race, for that matter.

I have every reason to believe your relationship is genuine. I'm not doubting your relationship in any way. The only point I am trying to make is that there are many women, and men for that matter, willing to pretend to love someone to get some kind of benefit. I think, in 100% honesty, that if the United States allowed Philippine citizens to live and work in the United States without any form of green card, there would be many less older American/younger Filipina couples. Do you disagree?

Over all I agree with you duraaraa and also ilovehim30. Like I said originally, I KNOW that there are men and women with some ulterior motives.

My point is that we ALL get painted with the same brush. We all get looks. People have preconceived ideas about all of us who are different. The looks may be benign, but it’s there.

How often do people use the term ‘mail order bride’ about couples who go through the immigration process and may or may not meet online? They do it all the time with a preconceived idea that is more often wrong.

What’s the difference of a couple that meets on match.com or an international dating site? Are dating sites in the US and more successful or safer? There was even a mass rapist recently on the news from christianmingle.com. The divorce rate for intercultural couples is less than half of the standard divorce rate, but the perception is the opposite.

Ann and I are 20 years different in our age. And she looks young for her age, she could pass for under 18 if she wanted. We get looks sometimes, not anything obvious, just glances. But it’s the same as when I’ve dated women of other races and the same age.

All I disagree with is when people say “no one looks at us”. Ok their mouth may not be open and they may not gasp in horror, but they look. The perception is still there. Do not pretend that strangers on the street see you as the same as any other couple. If you think they aren't looking then you’re just not paying attention.
Robb&AnnNot TellingPhilippines2013-04-26 13:29:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBiggest Age Difference

I disagree with that entirely. Two people can be any race they want and be a couple, and I don't think anyone would look at them weirdly, here in Los Angeles. It's extremely common. I'm sure it's extremely common in Arizona, too. Obviously, in countries without much racial diversity, a mixed couple, or even a lone foreigner can be looked at strangely.
On the other hand, if I see, for example, and let's make an extreme example, an 80 year old man with an 18 year old girl, and they are kissing? I would look at them weirdly, at first. It would be hard not to think the man is being used. Of course some people are attracted to those much older than they are, but it's not something that I think is extremely common.
This is coming from someone with a fiancee a decade older, as well.

This is Robb..

I have dated women of the same and different ages, and of the same and different races.

ANY difference in a couple gets some degree of attention!

Maybe NY or LA is different than 95% of the rest of the planet. I've been to 22 countries and experienced the same.

I don't see much distinction between 'weird looks' vs 'looks'.

I have never seen anyone look at us with a strange expression on their face if that's what you mean.

But I KNOW for a fact that when I was married to an African-American woman of the same age we got 'looks'. I see people give bi-racial couples an extra look in stores here in Phoenix, and this is one of the largest cities in the US.

You do become oblivious to it after a while, but pretending it doesn't exist is like saying racism does not exist. The more glaring the difference the more looks. Its ignorance to pretend that it's not all part of the same boat.

Here is a good example? When I go to Walmart alone as a white guy the door greeters never checks my receipt. If I was with a woman the same age and race still not checked. If I was with a younger woman or a woman of a different race, bingo they need to check.

People look at what stands out, and unless there is a HUGE diversity of ages and races, you stand out.

I have a form of MD and on rare occasion I need to use a cane. When I use the cane, they look. When I don't, they don't. A look is a look? your guessing what they think and adding 'weird' to the event. They looked, your different, accept it and move on.

If looks bother you then you have a bigger problem. What are you going to do when some as makes a directly racist comment about your partners race, or accent, or what have you.

Discrimination takes MANY forms. Subtle and obvious. You're living in a fantasy world if you think it's not present just under the surface.

i'm glad the you found the guy of your dream.. somehow you have the point with what you were saying. however, i doubt that you don't get weird looks from other people when you both were walking. as i am sure people would still look at you because you are from different race. different color.. mixed couple... this also would probably happens to other couples who are mixed... it could be fil-am , american-australian, american-indian, american-thai and many more..

philippines doesnt accept or even think that being with someone 20,30,or 40 yrs. older than you is ok or good.they didnt care bcoz they know what is happening, they know that there are other intentions besides love and they think its a smart choice.

you exactly know what im saying.and infact it came out of your mouth.
have you ever asked your father if he is happy that you are marrying a guy as old as him?.
didnt it crossed your mind that your guy can almost date your mom?
you know you never ever dreamed to be in that position.maybe you fell inlove with him.but you know for a fact that you have a different intention at first.

oh i thought youre the beneficiary.well im not trying to start anything either im just telling you guys whats true.
im a filipina and i know how my fellow filipinas are like.
me and my husband has 6 yrs. gap.
all filipina knows how hard life is in the philippines and filipinos are a big fan of USA.all filipino wants US VISA.
if a filipina is with an old guy that is not rich, that doesnt show she loves him,she just wants to have a green card and she is smart to know that she has lots of opportunities when she comes here in the US even if the guys she is with is not wealthy.
to have a young filipina that ages around 18-25 is a gamble.

I lived in the Philippines for a short while, my fiancée is from there too, and eventually we plan to probably retire there. I partly agree with you. A huge age gap turns an eye there, here, most anywhere.

Do people think there are other intentions… sure… guess what, they think that to some degree with any Filipina with any foreigner. I would bet money that those same people even believe that about your relationship too.

Are there women who feel they will just endure what they need? Yes
Are there women who marry an old man hoping to inherit when he dies? Yes
Are there women who just want a GC? Yes
Are there men who are basically seeking a Filipina just for sex? Yes
Are there men who are think of a Filipina as submissive maid type? Yes
Are there men who think a Filipina will work and improve his financial situation? Yes

Each of those kind of people is probably going to get a rude awakening.

Anyone who has been in PI for any length of time has seen some terrified looking 18 year old girl with a grumpy looking 70+ year old man. And we ALL think the same thing at first sight.

Ann and I have a 20 year gap. But don’t assume.

I know her dad, he is several years older than me, and I get along well with the man and have a lot of respect for him. I asked his permission to marry her. I think at first he was leery of me, I would be more worried if he hadn’t been. I made a promise to him to not only always support her, but to always love and care for her.

As for her intentions. She was NOT looking for some imaginary better life.

She is educated, intelligent, and confident. She comes from a relatively wealthy family. One had ran for political office and has a beautiful home on a mountain with a breathtaking view of the manila skyline at night. Her family has no expectation of us supporting or helping them financially. When we met she was doing very well at her job and in the beginning wouldn't even let me buy her load for her phone to talk to me.

Yes I support her now. She quit her job at my request to be able to spend more time together. We Skype most every waking minuet, and often even while asleep. While I am writing this she is currently napping and I can see her in the corner of my screen. I think our longest non-stop Skype call was 60 hours. The one thing that can upset her or piss her off is if I’m not on cam for too long. And I get out of sorts without her too. Are we a little OC with each other? Yup.

She is 24. Are Filipinas 18-25 a gamble? Sure. So are American women the same age. Guess what American women 30+ are a gamble too. I would bet a Filipina or any woman of any age is also a gamble. Hell, I bet men of all ages are also a gamble. I think its part of being human.

Before her I dated girls here that were even younger than her. (Granted they were insane)

Why was she interested in a white guy? Honestly that part is superficial but easy to understand. She told me about how when she was young she was friends with Mormon missionaries, they were kind, clean cut, and she found it attractive. She still prefers when I wear a tie.

I have a similar history. I was born in Okinawa, and have always had a deep attraction for Asian women. My first crush was on the singer Mitsuyo Nemoto back in 1980. So much so I had special ordered albums from japan, not exactly a common thing back then. My Ann pushes all the right buttons, she is the most amazingly stunning woman I have ever seen.

Sure we talk ####### about ‘those’ couples. We talk ####### about lots of stuff. And we know others probably talk ####### about us too.

The truth is we are perfect for each other and very well aware that if we were with anyone else we would drive them insane. We are too needy, too demanding, too OC, for anyone but each other.

Yep we have an age gap. But don’t read a lot into it. Don’t bet on me dying decades before her either. My family lives OLD and vital lives. My grandmother is still alive and maybe a little insane because she has a crush on a guy in his late 20’s (shhhh, he don’t know). lol

We like the same music, she cried like a baby when I held her and sang ‘your song’ for her. We like the same TV shows and movies, we even sync watching them online together. She is my match, my soul mate in every way!

Also, you may check on US Embassy's webpage in your beneficiary's country.. because the requirements of US embassy in my country might differ from what the requirements are in US Embassy in Nigeria. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFilipino applicants?

the "eligibility letter" that OP means is what we've known as the "packet 3" or the "instruction letter"... because on the letter, it says "You are now eligible to be scheduled for the visa interview" and we can actually get this letter on USEM's website http://photos.state....f2_rtf2_001.pdf

===

Some applicants took their medical exam a week or a month or months  before their interview.. though the embassy states to have the medical exam at least a week before the interview.. i think it's probably to give St. Lukes enough time to forward the medical results to USEM. so that's why they recommended to have the medical atleast a week before the interview.as well as atleast the medical results are latest..though Medical exam is valid for 6 months..

We are also waiting for our case number. it has been 7 business days now since we got approved. ClockWatch2.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswithdraw petition

yep. u can request for a CENOMAR.. if u really want to confirm if she has been married..  as long as u know her information.. no need for her permission to get this.

you need to know her

complete name ofcourse..

sex,

date of birth,

place of birth (province, city/municipality),

father's name

mother's maiden name

u can pay it through credit card and have it sent to USA or someone u know in the PH..takes weeks if sent to USA but u can have it expedite. that is if u still want to spend money and time investigating and confirming if she is really married or not..  but since u r planning to withdraw already, then i think no need to spend time and money for this..

now for those who are planning to look for their Filipina and u just want to be sure, u can get a CENOMAR of ur Filipina first before going into any process.. that is if u just want to be sure that later on u won't find out that she is actually married already.. but still depends too coz what if the girl gets married during ur relationship (i guess it's rare but it can happen)..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRecent pay raise and I134

Interview time is getting close and I am working on the I-134.  Working off of my 2012 W2 I am a little short on income with my large family, however in mid 2012 I received a large pay raise which puts me over the income requirement. I have no 1040 for 2013 reflecting the higher pay rate yet, but I do have pay stubs, the letter from the bank, and the letter from my employer stating my current income.  Will I have a problem with this?  Would I be better off having my fiance postpone the interview into mid January so I can have a more representative W2 and 1040?

I have my friend doing the same thing. He is making only 15000k being on SSDI. But he is making $2040 this year and k1 visa just got approved. Their plan, is to move the interview date once they apply for 2013 tax for better solid income to qualify for poverty guidelines. So I suggest, she needs to re-schedule her interview appointment  after you file your 2013 tax next year.

Hope it helps!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan't find a co-sponsor, what now?

Well the topic title says it all.

We can't find a co-sponsor.

What are our options now?

You are so lucky that you have been requested a new sponsor..

Some country won't even allow co-sponsor for k1.

Find best friends, uncle, grandma, find a way....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNo form in the attachement?

I have issue opening the I-129F with Chrome or Firefox but it opens fine with IE (10), if the page is blank it may just be slow loading up, even with my blazing speed (65 MB) here at home it was slightly slow opening.

http://www.uscis.gov...form/i-129f.pdf

your right, 129f is only opening on IE browser. Chrome doesnt work.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures( K1 approved) petitoner is On SSDI and depressed, 2012 Earnings only $15K but 2013 $20k!

also, you stated once she comes to america, they would marry and she would work asap.   that won't be able to happen because after marriage you need $1,070.00 to file for her AOS (adjustment of status) which includes her application for the green card, ability to travel outside the US and the ability to work, until you have this approval she won't be able to work.

I don't mean to rain on any parade, just wanted to give as much facts as i'm aware of since i brought my husband last November, we married in December 2012, i filed for AOS in April or May of 2013 and he got his work papers and ability to travel around the beginning of July 2013.    still waiting for green card.

as always, good luck and if there is love, there is a way smile.png

for Adjustment money he has been saving for it for that purpose. Yes he is aware of the expenses e.g. medical visa fee and plane ticket. He's got money for that. He just need to know whether to go ahead set the interview now or wait after filing 2013 tax?
