Middle East and North AfricaHow do you stay secure in a long distance relationship?
I was lurking thru the forums and I came across this post. I want to give you all any positive feed back that I can : )

It is very normal to let our minds wander with the unknown. But there is one basic fact, we all have met someone we want to spend the rest of our natural lives with and to be able to smile at one another when we are 80 years old. Hell it would be a great gift to make love when we are 80 years old too : )

What we have to think of is what can we do now to help our future husbands and wives or our now husbands and wives. I myself would do anything for my soon to be wife when she is feeling depressed or from the spur of the moment I would ask her if she was a "good girl" this week or today. Olga would probably have a look on her face... this is an odd question face and she would say yes of coarse I have been a good girl. I would then tell her how much money do you think you would need to make a great supper for the family and she would tell me. I would then tell her take out $20.00 extra and buy a bottle of wine also. Twenty dollars USD is equaled to $100.00 in Ukraine : )

But in all of this I thought I had great patients before I met Olga... I was wrong! This is one of the hardest tasks I had to do in my life is to wait and wait and wait even more. I think God will give to us only what we can endure but he also teaches us in the process. This process my friends we are being thought something, embrace it and learn from it. We will need it later in the future when the bad times come just as it does in any relationship.

As much as even right now I would like to call CSC and to tell them to go screw them selfs for being slackers, in a way they are helping me to find and understand what patients is all about. Perhaps we too should think about the things we do that may cause doubt in someones mind and to change this for the people we love. After all I would expect Olga to do this for me ; )

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion on K-1
Hi everyone,
A friend of mine was interested on knowing about how I met my future wife and the process of the K-1 visa. I had explained a lot about the process to him and he had a question if he had a restraining order against him if this would hurt him if he found a special lady in another country. He has had two of them and one was recended by his ex-wife 2 days later. So this has left him with one restraining order against him. There was no violence between him and his former girlfriend, they bought a home together and had split up with her so he gave the home to her and her daughter. The girls mother talked her into getting the restraining order just in case. The former wife... Shhhhhhh! she was just plane wacky and was on meds... long story blink.gif , he comes home from work and wanted to shower and go to bed after working for 13 hours and as I said she was wacked out on meds. So she has called the police on him and the next day had a restraining order against him but then 2 to 3 days later she recended it by asking the judge to cancel the order of protection and he did. He was never in court for violence nor was he ever convicted of any charges of violence. Actually he is one of them guys you can hit him in the head with a 2X4 and he will say do it again please LOL. A little slow, but he is one of the nicest guys I know : ) So now he wants to look for love in another country but is worried that he might not be able to bring a lady to America because of these two ordeals. The first restraining order was 10 years ago he said and the 2nd was about 5 years ago. Any thoughts on this from any VJ members?

Thanks in advance and have a great thanksgiving!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresConsular Processing?
Yeah, I am going to just deal with the extra fees and go with the K3 when it come. I filed for both. We can't take the waiting. I am making my third trip back there in a week, thank goodness for a forgiving job and boss!!!!

But I am not going to risk this dragging on and on. When the NOA2 comes on the K3 we are going to proceed with that... After all as long as it is taking, that is hard enough to deal with...

Good luck everyone, and let's hope for more approvals soon...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK3 Versus I130
Okay, can anyone tell me if James Shortcuts would apply to the K3 or are they for the I130 mostly.

I am confused about after we get our NOA2, what we need to get ready for the K3, assuming that visa will be appoved first.

And if it is, can I do anything to get things done ASAP instead of waiting for packets... Can someone please clarify this for me? Thanks!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK3 Versus I130
Hey, can anyone tell me what the difference in timelines and processes are once we get the NOA2s. I filed for both the I130 and K3-129F. And it seems that people are getting both approved at the same time- I mean the NOA2. SOOOOOOOOOO

If that is the case, what is the difference in time lines, process, required paperwork if one were to go with the I130 as opposed to the K3??

Just wondering if it takes about the same time and effort, because if that is the case it seems it would be better to go with the I130 due to the increase in fees for the adjustment of status for the permanent visa once he were to get here.....

Let me know guys... Thanks!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNVC - Additional Processing
Greetings from Tucson, Arizona. Our NOA2 was approved on June 27th - did not arrive at NVC until July 27th. Now, the NVC tells me that my case is undergoing "additional processing" with no set goal or time line.

Anyone have any insight? This idea of my packet just setting on a table in Vermont is painful. Waiting...this is such the exercise in patience and control of the mind....yuck.

Thank you - I hope your journey is quick!

So much waiting -- it is very difficult. We, the VJ community can share in the feelings, we know how you feel.
My experience so far with timelines on VJ has been very accurate.

Stay busy, stay positive. I spend a lot of time looking for the "new and best" deals on international calling cards. Nobel.com is really good....
It's my new hobby - VJ updates and international calling cards. As soon as my sweet man arrives I'll probably never even look at my computer...HA!

Best of luck with the journey! Carla

I agree with you regarding things like Grocery store trips and Target trips! My fiance is going to be so impressed with the wide streets and clean sidewalks and...on, and on, huh?! Only 52 days until the interview at Embassy -- we have SO almost made it!
CarlaByronFemaleGuatemala2011-08-21 08:15:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThe wait.
Hello! 5 months seems to be the average for sure --
Shop on-line for for good calling cards. Nobel.com has one that is reasonable for my guy's country.
We call each other ALOT during the day -- stay in touch about the little things.....

lunch menu, unusual animal you saw on the way to work, how much petro you purchased -- the more you do that the more it will almost feel like you are there!

Come up with a mini-projects -- example: both of you decide that you are going to do something unexpected for a mean person within the next 48 hours -- OR, watch the same "educational" video or internet stream and then ask each other 3 questions related to the topic.

These are the things that have helped us really maintain close close relationship. Plus, I know more about Soccer, Warner Bros. cartoons, and hurricanes than ever! LOL My guy has learned about hurricanes, Lady Gaga (Iloveher!),and US Motorcycle requirements.

Our last 50 days before the interview we have named, "50 days of fabulous" -- we try to do something that makes our normal, boring, "can't wait until I can kiss you" days into FABULOUS - example: I ate sushi 3 days in a row! Fabulous! -- We ordered flowers for a sick friend! Fabulous!

The moral of my typing this.... Dont' stop being who the two of you really are while you are waiting. Try your best to talk and focus on things other than the VISA! My fiance says this....

"Everyone is exhausted and tired at the end of a race or goal, that is why we call it finish."

lovely, eh? OR, maybe even FABULOUS! LOL

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEmbassy Appointment Letter
Good Day VJers! I am curious...
My fiance received his appointment letter for the interview at the Embassy - the letter is also used for the medical appointment.

Under the heading Traveling Applicants it has my fiance's name AND his son's name. On the application we only listed his son as "may follow" -- he will not be traveling with us at the intial POE.

Do you think we need to "fix" the appointment letter before the interview? Or, is the son's name on the letter simply because of the "may follow" noted on the application?

Thank you!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion 10 in the I-134 Affidavit of Support
I would recommend that he send a correct version because if they ask it to be corrected at the interview you will feel very sad and rushed. Do you have time or can he use regular mail?

I just got the documents that my fiance sent to me for my interview on the 15th. Looking at the I-134 Affidavit of Support that he filled out makes me concerned. In Question #10, he answered NONE. Isn't my name supposed to be in there? I guess he was confused and related it to Question #9. He did put my name and other information in Question #3. It cost him $108 to send these documents via FedEx. Should I be very concerned? Does he need to send a new I-134? Please advise. Thank you very much!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMisspelled name on NOA1
When I received my NOA1 2 weeks ago I noticed that they had spelled my name incorrectly. The spelled it Criag instead of Craig. I was scared that I had misspelled my own name, I rechecked all of my paperwork and then realized that they had made the mistake. I called the 800 number and explained to the lady on the phone that is was clearly just a mistake by the person who keyed it into the system and asked if she could correct the problem. She told me that she would need to put a request in to change the name and I would receive an update in 45 days.

Does anyone know if the 45 days is in addition to the normal waiting period?

Thanks!

CRAIG!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPetitioner Change of Address
QUOTE (Otto und Karin @ Sep 14 2009, 04:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Use the online change of address - follow up a couple of week later with a telephone call to ensure it was successful (even though you'll probably already know by then because you'll receive a letter confirming the change at your new address).

https://egov.uscis.g...i/go?action=coa

TIP:
Whether moving recently or not, it is a good idea to list your names (petitioner and foreign fiancé/spouse) on the inside of the mail box - on the inside of the lid or wherever the carrier will see the names) - this should insure you get the appropriate mail.

When it asks the question "Status in the US" what do I select? I am a citizen and that is not an option. Do I select other or Permanent Resident?

Thanks!

I apologize if this has been asked and answered!

I was reading the information in packet 4 for a K1. In this packet it states that you can pay for the visa process directly through the NVC in St Louis. Is this payment different from the application fees you are required to pay at Banamex and when you arrive at the Consulate? I am a little confused now... I does say that if you pay directly you are not required to pay when you get there. Also, what does this payment cover? Medical exam and all application fees?

Thanks!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionDO I NEED TO RENEW MY PASSPORT?

I found this in http://travel.state....is/cis_999.html

ENTRY / EXIT REQUIREMENTS: U.S. citizens may enter the Philippines without a visa for tourism purposes upon presentation of their U.S. passport, valid for at least six months after the date of entry into the Philippines, and a return ticket to the United States or an onward ticket to another country.

OP is going to Phillipines for vacation. Isn't he tourist? GC holder is different?

His initial question had to do with returning to the U.S., but I noted that the officials in the Philippines might not allow him in if he has less than 6 months left on his passport (this six months thing seems to be common for entry to a lot of countries). How strictly it would be enforced, I don't know. I just figured that if the OP had time to renew it before leaving, it would be preferable because he could avoid any hassle upon arriving in the Philippines--related to this issue, anyway.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionDO I NEED TO RENEW MY PASSPORT?
I'd renew it before the trip. I'm not sure about the Philippines (or when you're going), but many countries require that you have a minimum of six months left on your passport before you're allowed in. I can't answer the question about returning to the U.S., but my guess is that you wouldn't have a problem as long as the passport is still valid and you have your GC. If you were entering as a tourist, it would probably be a different story.
