US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDenied for use of illegal substance
We were merely told to return after the mandatory waiting period and that we had an "open" appointment. A friend that had the exact experience just went back to CDJ and brought their first letter of acceptance and went through the process again. This time with the desired result.

Interesting - did they extend the expiration of the petition at the embassy?

Lot of time has passed - are you sure your original petition is still active?

(moved from K-1 to embassy - more related)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDenied for use of illegal substance
Hello, we were denied for a one time drug use that my fiance admitted to. We were originally at the Consulate in August 2008 and were told to come back after February 2010. On March 1st I will be able to call to request another appointment. I am wondering what to expect from the second interview. We have had my fiance drug tested last year to show she has been clean and the one time incident was indeed a one time thing. Any information is greatly appreciated.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionImportant question about the interview!

I am unsure if they do a blood test for THC levels or not.... They may if there is suspicion.... or they may simply base there decision solely from the answers provided on the questionaire...

I wonder what happened. But , know this. Merely stating that you have tried a drug within three years prior to the interview will result in IMMEDIATE denial. Even if your fiance tests are negative for presence of an illegal substance he or she will be denied there is NO gray area in that. They will deny them and you will have to wait the time necessary. Do not mess with this. I have had to wait 18 more months because of this exact situation. We are going back next week. Wish us luck.

Just popped to see how everyone is doing - looks like there are some new posters in here and that ppl are getting their visas, wonderful.

We are still waiting out our 3 year ban so as I have said before please remember to brief your fiances before their medical exam not to admit to past drug use even if it was just experimentation. Just don't go there, it's not worth it trust me.

My fiance is very clean, just experimented in high school and then admitted to smoking a joint 6 months before the interview which was a total fluke because he doesn't use drugs or drink. Because of the psychologist at the medical coaxing him to tell the truth "that nothing will happen to affect your visa", my fiance told her that he experimented in high school and smoked marijuana 6 months before his interview so we were denied. The denial turned our whole world upside down not to mention so much $$ down the drain. I remember talking to my fiance after the medical and asked "how did it go?", when he told me what he said all he could hear was screaming from my end of the phone - I couldn't believe it, I knew it was over and done with right there. He got mad at me and said there is nothing to worry about because "the psychologist told him" and I just kept freaking out and crying. He said he couldn't take the stress from me anymore and that he wasn't going to talk to me again until after the interview. Of course the next day he called me crying and apologizing.

We still have 15 more months to go to wait and we are really not sure what we are supposed to do. I am going to try and call the consulate this week as we don't know if we have to re-apply, what to bring with us, nothing. We both were in such a bad state from the denial it was hard to comprehend anything at that time.

We are still holding on though this process is very long and very tough.

If there is anyone out there that has gone though this I would appreciate any input you may have.

Hi Janet,

The last 2 times you were here, I posted some info on 2 other members who went through the same thing you did, and they were approved. They were approved in November/December (somewhere around that time), and you posted your questions sometime in the spring and early summer, I think.

My question: Do you think the CDJ embassy will be closed on Election Day? I know it's not a "holiday" perhaps, but would they close??

Thanks!

They're closed on American & Mexican holidays. Here's the info on the holidays: http://www.usembassy...lidays.html but they've been known to close for no reason, unannounced, which sucks... Good luck!

Would you mind sending me the information you sent to Janet about the other two people? We are going next week. We had to wait an additional two weeks as Mexico just changed their laws for obtaining a passport. I leave Friday April 23rd

Hi Charles! It looks like you were answering someone's question...? Well, welcome here!

So I think that's 3 of us who will be (or whose fiance/es will be) in CDJ around the same time Aug-Sept.

I am getting super stoked. I was checking out the google map and noticed the border traffic there
in CDJ is 10 times worse than I have seen it in Lukeville (AZ) and Nogales (AZ)
Does anyone have a solution for that?

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Spouse Support - How much does she need?
I am very fortunate enough that my future wife understands a little about the American economy. She is from Lugansk, Ukraine and when she was working she made the equivalent of about $11.00 USD a day. While she was working I was giving her $250 a month to offset any costs she might incur for daily life. I had a conversation with her that I would rather see her stay at home and to spend the quality time of raising her daughter so that she would not miss out of these precious years so she has quit her job. She has been also studying English at a school and her daughter as well. Later she has told to me that she will now need to find work because she needs more money for her daily life. Not once has she ever asked me to support her. I had offered to give her the $250 USD and then I had upped it to $400 USD. She was very grateful that I take care of her in this way. I had also asked her why she does not tell me about money matters that she is hurting in some form or another. Her response was she does not want to trouble me with her matters.

I have heard in the past of many horror stories of how women in Russia and in the former soviet country’s scam men for money. And I have tested her on all of this to see if she would take and take. Olga has never shown me that she is a scammer so we will continue on our path to bring her to America and to become married.

Olga has no idea of the American economy completely and this is understandable. I have told her for the first few months I shall pay all of the bills and she will watch me in this then later she will pay all of the bills and see in the bank register online just how much monies we have left over. I do joke with her that she will become the very expensive wife in America and she knows that I joke about this because of the horror stories.

I think also that $400 USD is more than enough to give to her. $800 to $900 hryvnia is a lot of money in Ukraine and this gives her some extra spending money for her trips to the lake and to drink beer on the park benches with her girlfriends… I always laugh about this. In America we would be arrested for drinking in open public LOL.

When Olga finally comes to America she will understand more and I will have to re-teach her about many things. After all she will be entering a new country, a new culture, new economics everything shall be completely different then what she knows of now.

English press 1, next you can choose to talk to the operator by pressing 5. If you wait you will hear some other choices the next first choice you hear... Information on your immigration visa press 1 do this and they will ask you to enter the first 3 letters of your case number. In our case it is KEV. The recording will ask you if what you have entered is correct? I had to press 2 for not correct and then the recording corrected its self from KEW to KEV then I entered the rest of the numbers. Do not worry your only pressing numbers and not the letters. Again in our case it was KEV this is 539 on the dial pad on the phone. Next they will tell you about your case : ) I hope this helps you : )

Hi everyone,
Well today I thought I would call NVC and this time I used the automated system. So I entered our case number and the recording said they have no information about our case in their recored. So I called back again and this time I talked to a live person, I explained to them what the recording said and they told me oh here is why... On Monday the 9th the documents were sent to Kiev : )

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

I had phoned Olga and she was about to start her English class, so I asked her to sit down I have some news she might want to hear. So she told me she was sitting and I told her all of the good news! You all should have heard the joy in her voice.

Now for us it has been 43 days being in AP hell : (

And for the rest of you waiting on your approvals... This wait can be heart breaking knowing that no one will give you a strait answer at the NVC But hang in there and we are all praying that your AP's are quickly compleated and you see each other again very soon. I know for Olga and I we will keep you in our prayers and please keep posting the time line it is taking for the AP this has been a great help for Olga and myself.

God's blessings to you all ; )

Hi everyone,
I don't want to be a pain in the rear but I have looked and looked on these forums and I have come to a dead end. We are in the same boat as all of you and when I call the NVC all they tell me is that the visa is in admin. processing. What the hell is admin processing? Are they only entering the visa doc. info into the data base or is there more back ground checking that the NVC does that the CSC does not do. I have also informed NVC that on Dec 30th I received a letter from them that says basically this letter is to let you know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa issuing post where your visa interview will take place. And now it is almost 4 weeks to the day of this letter. Can anyone tell me what NVC does with the visas? My next move will be to contact my congressman's office. And what is up with a woman named Cathlene at the NVC oh my god this woman needs some prozac or needs time out in the corner she is a pretty rude person LMAO.

I hope I have not caused confusion, I am filing for a K-3 visa and have done so now that I received the NOA for my I-130. The check is clearing the bank now for the 129F-K-3 visa so I should, hopefully, be recieving my first NOA on that soon.

Hope that answers it for you!! Good luck to all and let's all hope the number of visas before us are not substantial so we get processed soon!!

Yeah, question about being 'touched'. Are you all monitoring this at the USCS website where you create an account and monitor your case via the number on the NOAs? Then with the email option, whenever they do something with your file, they enter something in the computer and you are sent an email your case was 'touched'?

Am I understanding this correctly? Just wondering because I have my NOAs for my I130 and 129F but have never been 'touched'

I am trying to figure this out and as is with every step in this process I am at a loss.

What all do we need to prepare for the K3 after getting the NOA2, assuming I am going to get my NOA2 on that before my I130 ??

Can James Shortcuts be used for the K3 visa at the NOA2 stage to speed things along instead of waiting for packets to come and contact to be made with NVC?

I as everyone else just want to have some control and do whatever I can to move things along in the process when I am able to..

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAmerican Visa In Passport, AOS, I-94 dates etc.
Hey, I am confused. The American Visa that is put in your spouses' passport when they are approved at the consulate. Is this just for entry into the USA? My spouses' visa is good for four months from the date of issue.

So I am wondering does this need to be renewed or is only the I-94 important? This does not expire until 2010.

We have filed and are waiting for our adjustment of status at this point. We are only waiting on the interview now.

Also, can he leave and reenter the USA on the 1-94 or does he need this American visa in his passport to do this? Or do we have to file in order for us to travel outside the USA.

And finally, I know, this is more than I intended to ask, but those who are all knowing might be able to help: We are moving, how do we change our address so that there are no problems. And who all do we need to notify to make that change?

Thank you everyone!!!!!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-693 Medical Form for AOS Interview
We are scheduled in July here in Phoenix and are anxiously waiting for our interview but are wondering about one thing...

On the checklist on the NOA form you get, what about the medical I-693?

Do you go back to the doctor here or is that not required since our medical exams happened overseas? From reading the instructions is it not needed, but part of the form has to be done. I don't know and am trying to find someone who knows.

They took his medical sealed envelope when he entered the USA five months ago. I assume some government agency has that. I would like to hear from those who actually had their interviews and can tell me their experience with this issue. I don't want to get there and not be able to get approved because of a form.

Hope to hear from someone who knows for sure, Cetin and Tonya

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDO I need a round trip ticket or one way ticket?
hi everyone!

my question is, do i need a two way ticket (back and forth) or only one way ticket to Arizona(where my fiance --soon to be husband lives). My fiance is worried about this and he wanted me to find an answer asap.

Secondly, i'm in the process of waiting for my visa issuance. I just went to my interview today and got a pink slip and paid the visa issuance fee via fedex. The lady in Counter 38 told me to wait for the visa issuance and once i get the visa i need to go to CFO seminar. Since the lady told me to wait for the visa, does it mean i got approved? I want to make sure. Im a bit worried. since i didn't hear this exact word from the consul during my interview. But he did say "wait for your number to be called for instructions" Thank you for coming".

Hope to hear from you guys...Thanks a lot!

What is the average time to get interview from case completed (Nov. 24th) to interview in HCMC? I'm leaving for vietnam on Dec. 5th and will stay there for 9 weeks. Ticket is only $700, Price will go up after Dec. 5th which I can't afford. LOL. Anybody going to Vinh Long, Can Tho? maybe we can meet up for coffee or drinking? LOL

Your case completed on Nov-24. 1st thing you should do is to call NVC to setup a date for your interview. You should call first week of the month on December to schedule your interview date. Good time to call this week. Call them everyday till you have a date for your interview. I call them more than 3 times a day. Good luck. Your interview schedule should be 2 month from the date you NVC completed. So, meaning your interview should be around Jan-24, BUT, since all these holiday is coming up, including TET in VN. Should take longer than 2 months.

good luck.

Thank you. I'll totally agree with you. My case was completed after two days I called NVC regarding my RFE. took 5 weeks to complete. I guess you have to call them to get things done. LOL

I have to call USCIS to get my case completed because it was more than 5 months. But at NVC, my case was completed in 3 days.

You are cutting it close. Ticket will be low from 12th to 21 of January too. My timeline show you how fast I got my interview date. My estimation is that you will get packet 3 about another week but packet 4 in about a month due to the holiday. then and interview around Lunar New Year. Good luck to you and congrat.

Asia: East and PacificCommon Interview Questions
Hi everyone,

I am wondering if any who got fiance interview before me can list some of the questions asked at the interview. I hear 2 commonly asked questions are fiance's mother name and her address. Please feel free to list any question that you feel is commonly asked or your fiance has been asked before. Thank you to all that reply.
