aravis sent it to me, that really helped alot, i am wondering something though, i've seen in a few places where it says that you should cary a copy of everything my fiance sent for the petition with me to the interview, we didn't actually make copies, we did everything on the computer really and just printed it out as needed, do i need to have him print everything off and sign it and all that and send it to me so i can carry it with me?

CanadaI watched my friend get grilled at the border
sooo not gonna say anything about all the lying think everyone covered that hehe, but i do have a question now that i read all this, i visited my fiance for 5 months had no problem getting through, didn't have a job at the time but still they did not question anything, well, i came back for 3 months, and and we decided i would come visit for a month or so, i had a job, but no letter from them, well, i get to the airport, 6 in the morning, and of course, i got denied, i hadn't bought my return ticket yet because we weren't sure of the date i would return exactly, and of course that looked suspicious, on top of the fact that he bought the ticket, they didn't like that much, so i got to go to the little room, fun, and i sat there, they left me for last, everyone else was gone and 2 hours later they tell me im not going through because i dont have ties to canada, well, its 8 in the morning, they called my work, not open yet of course so that didn't help me, tried calling my landlord, no answer, so again, everything against me there lol sooooo my question now, when i do my packet 3 forms i see where it says have you ever been denied entry blah blah blah, ok, so is this incident going to be a problem, i mean, i had ties, but couldn't prove them cause it was so early noone would answer their phones and i didn't think to get letters cause i had no problems before going back and forth, and i wasn't at vj yet sad.gif so is this going to be a problem if i just explain i didn't know i needed documentation with me of ties to canada and it was so early that the POE guys couldn't get ahold of anyone to prove my story so they thought i was lying?

would it be a good idea then to just have him write the letter and have a manager sign it and also go ahead and have all his pay stubs with me too? do they usually call the work to check? or if i took the pay stubs would that be enough so they dont need to call?

Canadaaffidavit of support
my fiance works for a company where they dont really have a pay roll department or anything there, its all in a main headquarters in some other state, and I told him that all he needs to do is write up a letter on company letterhead and have a supervisor sign it, right?? well he is fighting me on it lol telling me that noone in his office has any access to what he makes or anything like that and that to get a letter like that he would have to go to the head office to get it, making a big deal about something so simple, but I was under the impression that he could just write it himself, although he doesn't know of any company letterhead that they have, but couldn't he just write it himself and have someone sign it? or does he need to call head office and have them get it for him?

I have visited my fiancee about 17 times over the past 2 years, and it's the same drill every time:

Customs: "What is the purposed of your trip"
ME: "Vacation"
Customs: "How long are you staying in the US?"
ME: "Until next (blank)"
Customs: "where are you staying?
ME: "At my GIRLFRIEND's (never say Fiancee unless they ask) place."
Customs (only asked a third of the time) "how did you meet?"

That's it. Simple. Don't volunteer more info than is necessary.

I checked DHL website and there is no package from NVC to Vancouver on 20th. On the 19th a package left NVC and arrived Vancouver 20th (signed by Martin).

To check yourself - make sure the date reference is exactly as this:-

EXP 19 OCT 2009A

You can play around with the date reference to see what packages left NVC around the 20th.

I don't have any direct confirmation from the NVC that it was sent but this seems like an indirect confirmation.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3 Documentation - Previous marriage certificate
I've searched the forum to see if this question has been asked before, but can't see anything listed. I am the beneficiary and I notice that one of the documents required for the interview is prior marriage certificates. I have been married twice before but I have only my most recent marriage certificate. Does anyone have experience or knowledge whether ALL previous marriage certificates was definitely required by the consulate (London in particular). My line of thinking is that in order for me to be married a second time, I had to show I was divorced from my first marriage. Also, for the consulate I have both divorce papers to show them.

Thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow long does one have to fill out the Packet 3 forms?
QUOTE (NikaThinks @ Nov 12 2009, 12:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi there,
I'm new to the forums but have been using this site as a resource for a number of months now. I tried to search for the answer to my question, but I couldn't really find the info I wanted.

My fiance and I are planning to get married next summer, and we've already received our NOA 2. The US Embassy in London has received our packet from the NSC, and has sent my fiance a letter with a link to a website with the forms he needs to submit (amounting to his Packet 3).

Do you know whether there is a time limit by which the Packet 3 forms need to be submitted to the consulate? I didn't see any info about this on the website, but I'm sure that at some point if you wait long enough your application must enter some sort of inactive status -- which we definitely don't want to hit up against! Would not submitting the forms until January 2010 (the consulate got the application in early November 2009) be a problem? Does anyone have any further info on this?

Thanks!

I do know that once you receive you NOA2 it is good for four months. If for some reason you run into issues at the embassy you can have it extended. If you received your NOA2 in November, you have until March to finish up your visa process. The actual dates should be listed on your NOA2. Good Luck with your visa process!!

US Citizenship General DiscussionSelective Service - Status Information Letter
I've searched through this site and read both the instructions from this site and the Selective Service site - but now I am confused!

Do I need to include a Status Information Letter from the Selective Service if I entered the US (in 2009)aged 43? The part that confuses me is on the application for the letter - the paragraph where you explain why you didn't register for selection.

REASON WHY YOU FAILED TO REGISTER WITH SELECTIVE SERVICE UPON
REACHING AGE 18 AND BEFORE REACHING AGE 26:

This doesn't apply to me because I was 43 - so do I still need to obtain this Status Information Letter prior to my N-400 application?

It goes to the USC. I got mine 4 weeks and 2 days after everything was received at the US embassy in Juarez. That is a little on the longer side. Most of the people that file to Mexico get it in 3 weeks, at least from what I have seen on peoples time lines.

Thanks for the insights. I have heard that CDJ does it differently. I hope it is 3 weeks becasue that will be sometime next week.
We hope to be in the US by Labor day. eeeh, either way, all in good time.

Hey, I am currently waiting for the mail to be opened at the Juarez Consulate so I can receive my open appointment letter. Is that packet (Packet Three) mailed to me or my fiancée in Mexico? She lives in a pueblo outside of Hermosillo and since the mail system is somewhat different in Mexico do they send the packet to the petitioner? What has the experience been of other petitioners with Mexican beneficiaries? I know the application was sent via DHL from the NVC in New Hampshire on June 18th, 2008. Also does anyone know how long it will sit in the Consulate before someone opens the application does the background check and mails out the packet three info? I have also read that most of the forms can be downloaded and filled out ahead of time (I have downloaded them)

Is there any such document provided by the U.S. that is acceptable or have I read some incorrect material relating to this? It looks to me if she has no such records (of conviction of a crime) this item can be skipped all together. Anyone that has crossed already may be able to address this...

I should clarify. I have not read of a document that the US has in regards to obtaining a statement from the police. I have read
it is necessary to obtain one even if the beneficiary has a clean record.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionGoing back to CDJ after denial and mandatory waiting period
My fiancee was denied entry to the US for admitted one time drug use in February 2007. We have waited the mandatory 3 year waiting period necessary for admittance. After our denial we were given a document that said we had an open appointment and needed merely to return to the consulate after the waiting period to begin the medical exam and interview process again. I wondered if anyone has been through this and if you could walk me through what we need to do upon arrival at CDJ. I know we need to go back to the doctor but any additional information would be greatly appreciated especially if you case is similar to ours. I know I need to complete a DS156 form to update our information. Please help
