is there any way to track all this? to know if they are looking at it or what? like how we could sign on to USCIS to track stuff before?

You could track the AOS and EAD on the USCIS site the same as you could for your K-1. All you need is the receipt number(s). (You enter them or create a portfolio in the same place.) good.gif

https://egov.uscis.g.../jsps/index.jsp

i have to wait for the noa then?

CanadaHow often do you clean??
QUOTE
I used to be somewhat of a clean freak - but I decided to relax a bit. I have a dishwasher, so try to get stuff in there and out of the sink as soon as possible, I really do not like to get up to dishes in the sink in the morning, however if they sit there for an hour or 2 i'm ok with it.

i used to be pretty messy and not care when i was back in canada, i dont know if it was just cause it was only my mess i had to live with and noone else had to see it but i clean way more now, i cant stand things being messy,

CanadaHow often do you clean??
i honestly have to vacuum at least 4 times a week sometimes more, noone else seems to notice that i do it, like they think all the ####### they drop on the floor just disapears all on its own.

kitchen floors i sweep at least 3 times a week but mopping i just do when i get annoyed that i keep slipping or sticking to whatever has been dropped.

the bathroom i clean twice a week, apparently boys dont know how to pee in the toilet cant stand when i go in and the floor is wet.

dishes and picking up gets done everyday.

It says that my check amount was wrong, i sent 1012 and i guess its 1010 i read that wrong somewhere, anyway, when i re send it back in, do i send the same forms with those notices attached to them, or do i have to make brand new copies of everything and re sign everything and all that.

I would just send in the same everything if the cheque was the only thing wrong... Seriously, they should have just kept your two dollars! It will cost you more in postage to send it all back

i know right!!!!!!! i was so mad, im like keep the $2 thats my donation for you being so great whistling.gif but no, guess they dont want it

see that is really scary!! I am 21 and my dr. once suggested me getting it, well sorry it was a student nurse for my nurse practitioner cause i dont have a "dr" but i really didn't know much about it and its not free so i just decided i didn't need it, so now im probably going to have to get it with my medical right?? how do i get around that, i see that one of the side effects is blood clots, i know my family has a history of blood clots could i maybe get a note from my nurse practitioner saying that its not in my best interest to get this due to my medical history? i really dont want to get it, or does anyone know of a specific dr that doesn't require it, i would be going to either toronto or london i think, im an equal distance from both

Congrats Jen!!! I'm glad it went well for you. Best of luck with the move, too.

Cheryl and Richard - I wasn't asked for any of them at the interview, but I did take a copy of the past forms (DS230, DS156, etc) just in case. I also took a copy and the original of the DS160 that is the new form (with barcode) to replace the DS156K, but I wasn't asked for it. However, as you can see from Jen's post, she was asked for it, so it's best to take it with you. Heck, I even took a copy of the I-797 Notice of Petition approval, but was not asked for it.

I just checked, and I still have the sheet of paper they handed us after we got our number. This page, when in the consulate, says to put the following documents in order for when they call your name:

-passport(s)
-photos (with name printed on back)
-medical report
-police certificate
-evidence of support (employment letter, I-134, I-864, or most recent taxes)
-return envelope with your address

Then there is a note saying *if you previously sent any of these forms to NVS, they will be in your file.

So while we waited to be called up, we just made sure we had those things ready to hand over. It really was an easy to understand process with no confusion or stress. Plus, they have vending machines (takes Canadian money $1 for chips, $1.25 for pop), a water fountain, and nice bathrooms. So, it's a sterile office that looks like you're at the DMV, but the atmosphere is not stiff by any means. It was a comfortable and relaxing process.

Best of luck.

thanks jen, i definetly have that stuff and a little more, and ill try and make copies of everything so i have it just in case

Hey everyone, Chris and I are back from the Montreal interview. kicking.gif

Our appointment was on Tuesday, and after spending a few days in Montreal to enjoy the food (and brave the cold) it all went well and we made it home in one piece.

The interview was super easy and basic. We arrived at the consulate around 8am, got in from the cold right away, went through security, up the elevator and waited for our number to be called. When it was, we handed over originals and copies of requested documents, paid the fee, and then sat down for about half an hour before we were called to window 8 for our interview.

We had a really pleasant officer ask us questions, check our documents, verify this and that, and it was really so super fast and easy, there was nothing tricky about it. I think we were in there for oh.. maybe five minutes. Then he explained the visa would be processed that day, sent off in the Xpresspost, and sure enough.... my visa arrived today! Yup. Interview Tuesday, Visa by Thursday. Not bad. I am truly impressed.

All in all, we were there for about two hours or so, and it was the most pleasant and painless process to date. The Montreal folks were a pleasure to deal with and it was a good overall experience.

Our hotel was perfect (Travelodge on Rene Levesque) and within three walking blocks. We couldn't have had a better overall experience. Plus, the food was great as per usual. star_smile.gif

So, now, with Visa in hand... I'll be packing it in and crossing the border in a few weeks. Not bad. Phew. It's nice to have this part of the process over. On to the next stages of the game!

Best of luck to all waiting and gearing up for interviews, etc. And relax. Once you get to that point, it's a breeze!

Lori

hey lori, congrats!! I was just wondering, could you list the things they asked for, i have copies and forms and all kinds of stuff but im so worried im gonna be missing things or that i dont have the right stuff, guess im just nervous, a list would be so helpful

Hello to all,

I just received my NOA2 on January 9 and preparing a bit in advance. I have started with my vaccination process, I was not up to date with that. I have some questions and would like some answers from the K1 applicants who has recently received their packet 3 from Montreal.

Canadian Police Certificate: I have called the RCMP Detachment in Ottawa, it is the nearest from Gatineau. The lady told me to contact my local police office in Gatineau. What I have heard is we need the Canadian one from the RCMP so I am confused about this. Guys, is the Montreal Consulate has provided you with any information regarding what they want, fingerprint or not. Do they want it from the RCMP or local police office is good. Is there a validity period, if I go now is it good if my interview is just in 6 months? How long does it takes to get it from who ever RCMP or Police office. Is it the one with or without fingerprint?

Does anyone has seen a copy of the checklist send by Montreal on this site. If so let me know the link to it.

Thank you to provide me with answers on this one.

you just need the one from your local office, its not finger prints its just a piece of paper saying if you have any criminal background, and it only takes about a week or 2, im not sure how long its good for, but since it only takes a couple weeks to get it you can wait a few months to get it at least then you wo nt have to worry about that

The DS160 is a link that you go to online and fill out the online form. The DS156K is a form you just write/type out and then send back to them. Sounds like you'll probably get a letter to fill out the DS160 too.

hmm pretty sure i went to that link filled it out online and sent it in, ill have to go through my paper work and see if i still have a barcode or what, i thought it said in the instructions to send in the entire thing including the barcode

You're probably good to go then. You could probably email them to be safe, but I bet they'll have your confirmation when you get there if you sent it in.

ya i think im ok cause when i emailed to see if they had received my packet 3 yet they emailed to say this
Please advise you have submitted your forms DS230 & DS160s.

Thank you

Folks, I know it seems like an eternity - we went through every miserable second of it too! Just keep in mind that it WILL happen. Also, be sure to check in with DOS on the status of your packet at the counsulate and your appointment date. They told us our date weeks beforehand but we got the letter 2 days before the appointment and then only after calling the counsulate and begging them to re-send the letter (the original was obviously lost) so we sould not be hassled at the door.

what is DOS and how do we check on our status? i was under the impression we could only email montreal with questions, based on the letter they sent me they dont have people that you can call and ask, and when i ask the status or if they have received anything i get no reply, but if i ask questions i get a reply just very brief and not very helpful at all headbonk.gif
