K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat does your N0A2 say?

It took a few weeks, but the Vancouver consulate does have the information now. And actually, as I write, my fiance should be on a bus headed to his medical exam :)

Thanks for the info
Another question, when the cases goes to NVC, they issue them a number that will be used by the consulates. Did you get that # with your NOA2?

Edit:typo

My NOA2 didn't have any such number on it. I'm starting to believe that blanket statement that all approved petitions must go to NVC, is not true, especially at VSC.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat does your N0A2 say?

I was approved by email on 27 November 2006. A week later I got the hard copy N0A2 in the mail. My N0A2 says, "The above petition has been approved and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions about the visa issuance or if you would like them to forward the petition to a different consulate." Has anyone else gotten an N0A2 like this that says your petition was sent to the consulate, or do all of your N0A2's say they were sent to the NVC? Does this mean my petition has gone directly to the consulate and bypassed the NVC? Thanks for any responses... because based on what I've read here on VJ, it seems most petitions leave CSC and go to the NVC, right?

My NOA2 says exactly that, except it was filed at VSC, "forwarded to the listed consulate". But whats annoying is that they did not list a consulate! I too called NVC but they have no record. Then the Customer Service Center "does not have that information", what kind of outfit is this anyway. I am planning on emailing the consulate next week to verify they received it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG325A help

Hello, I was born in India and moved to US when I was 3 years and 6months old. In G-325A form "Applicant's last address outside the US of more than one year". Should I give my address where I lived before moving to US? I would appreciate your help.

Thank you,
Kabilan

I listed my address in India up to the age of 4 and got approved without a problem.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 Approval with Waiver!!!

Unbelievable!!! Two attorneys did not want to take my case because I had two previous K2 approved within 2 years. I decided to do it on my own (with the help from VJ and a couple of its members). Since the initial NOA1 there were no touches or anything. I knew I was getting close on the date but to be perfectly honest, I thought they would do an "RFE" on my file. Last night at about 10pm I checked to see if I was "touched"...nothing. This morning I had 3 emails (sent at 02:00 am) with and approval notice of Dec 7th!!! Totally surprised, perhaps it was the fact I had tried to send as complete a package as I could. Everything was documented and the package looked very profesionally done. I'd like to think this helped. Anyway, a couple of months back I had posted my case in the special IMBRA section of this forum. I will update it with more details when I have the time, in the hope it will help others. My gratitude to those unselfish souls that did not think twice (the first few IMBRA waivers) in sharing their process and documentation so that I could have a basis on which I could create the request for my waiver.

Just called my lady (her mother passed away last week and has been very sad to say the least) and her excitment was tremendous. I am very glad to have given her hope, a smile and some good news after all she has gone through the last couple of weeks. :)

Congratulations Jetson! Halfway there, cool! Good luck to you! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCSC Sending applicatoins direct to embassies?
I thought this thread would clear up my questions but boy am I wrong!

Got my NOA2 in the mail, cool! But here's where it gets foggy, "This petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate." What listed consulate, they didn't list a consulate??? Maybe they mean the consulate I requested? The service center lady said call the NVC. Called the NVC man, and he said that from the wording on my petition, they seemed to have bypassed NVC, cause normally they write, "This petition has been approved, and forwarded to NVC", and to call USCIS and they should be able to tell me which consulate it was forwarded to. I also asked him if petitions ever go directly to the Consulate and he said sometimes. By that time the service center was closed, so will have to wait till the next chance I get to call them.

Well anyway it sounds all well and great to me! :P

Hi,

Can anyone have some answers for my case? I have recieved NOA2 on 29 Nov, 06. The NOA stated: We have approved your petition and it has been forwarded to your listed consulate". on Dec 18, 06, I called USCIS and was told to call HCM US consulate. I called the US consulate in Vietnam and was told that I must have a case number from NVC. I called NVC and was told that no record on your case was found. I have no idea of what is going on. I thought every I-129F after approval it will automatic forward to NVC. Has anyone had similar case or has any suggestion for my case.

Thanks,

My NOA2 said the same thing. That wording "listed consulate" seems to be showing up in a couple of NOA2s lately. It is very strange and confusing. NVC hasn't gotten my case yet either and neither has the consulate. NVC phone people seem to tell you that it can bypass them and go to the consulate, but so far I have no proof of one bypassing NVC.

Arg...I think something is wrong with the website to see the status of my case. I'm sure nothing has changed, but it's not working at all for me.

It keeps telling me that my user id and password are wrong, but they aren't! I copied them directly from the original email they sent to me! Then I got locked out cause of too many failed attempts with my account and they sent me a new password, which still isn't working!

Silly website!!! Is anyone else having this problem?

I am tired of hearing all the damn approvals!!!

The CSC processing times say they are processing June 15th petitions now. So as of a couple days now, you have officially waited your turn, 30 days + your approval date, and have every right to demand that the Customer Service Center query CSC to tell you what is going on.

I would go ahead and start demanding answers. If your senator isn't helping you, find a congressman.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQUESTION:ASSEMBLING PACKET 3

Hi All,

we're not near this stage yet..we haven't even received our NOA2, but I was just wondering if any of you out there could help me clarify something. I read on the guides page that one must "Send all originals of the documentary proof that you submitted for the I-129F to your fiance(e) for their interview at the embassy"- call me silly, but I read somewhere else that we do not get our original petitions back, that we sent when we filed for the I-129F- so does this mean we need to gather the information again or if we have it saved just re-print/copy everything? If this could be cleared up for me, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks all!

I think what they meant is if you sent copies of proofs of relationship with the I-129F petition, send the originals to your fiancee. If you sent the originals with the petition, like I did, I assume they will have that packet at the embassy and will not need originals.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNeed a little reassurance :(

I know its still early for me to be freaking out, but jeez Im starting too. Yesterday hit the 2 month mark since our NOA1 through VSC. Do applications ever get lost? Is there anything else I should be doing now? In our timeline the thing says:

Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated as early as December 16, 2006* (this includes an estimated 10 day delay for your RFE).

If this date has passed by more than 10 days or your application is past due per USCIS processing times then you should consider calling the USCIS to inquire on your petition. If you have been approved please update your timeline.

Should I call since its been past the 10 days? I thought the USCIS only responded with the application was more than 6 months old. Im trying so hard to be patient, but after the 4 touches in a row after they got our rfe and now nothing that must have been one huge coffee spill! Our rfe was simple I forgot to include the marriage certificate from my first marriage to show the difference on my last name as it is now different than on my birth certificate. We didnt meet with a marriage broker, and neither of us has any kind of criminal record, not even a speeding ticket so nothing that should be holding it up :(

Guess Im just looking for a little reassurance from you timeline gurus and advice if there is anything I should be doing now to check on it, make sure it isnt lost etc. Otherwise guess its back to counting the flowers on the wall and playing solitaire.

Thanks in Advance
Cat

You could try calling but my experience is that the customer service center doesn't tell you anything useful, and just repeats what is written on your online case status message. They're only useful once your petition is a month beyond USCIS's processing times.

Your case was touched so it wasn't lost. VSC is quicker than the other service center but in many cases it still takes a while. In my case VSC took 4 months after NOA1.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSecurity Checks on a K-1

I was under the impression that once the CIS approved the petition, they were out of the picture. I was told by the DOS that the security checks we are currently under were ordered on October 31st. When I log into my CIS account and look at my original petition, it now shows the "touch date" as October 31st as well. This date has not changed since our petition was approved last April.

So what is the connection here? Does anyone know?

I think they are both under the Department of Homeland Security. I did read something on a FBI Name check page which mentioned, as an example, USCIS requesting them to do name checks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhile you're waiting for NOA2: Talk to your boss!

Do you know what the NVC's hours are? I'd call right now but I doubt they're open.

if the consulate said they got the papers, your fiancé doesn't need to wait for packet 3 to arrive, he can send it to them, that way things will go a little bit faster.

Oooh that's neat! So when I find out from NVC when they sent it, my fiance'll start pestering the embassy to see if they got it... and once they do he can just print out the forms from here and mail em back? The forms won't have anything special on them, like reciept number or bar code or something, when the embassy mails the forms to him?

it was a response to an inquiry. He wrote them 3 times already (can you tell we are a "bit" anxious to get this over with? )
Here the email address for them:
NVCInquiry@state.gov

I bet your case has already left NVC.

Thanks, I sent an e-mail! I asked to know the date they recieved it and the date they mailed it so I can update my timeline with that info. :D

Angilla, I hadn't seen that you were approved! Congratulations!

Thanks! Oh it was great! I was sitting here going through VJ timelines PMing VSC people with NOA1 dates similar to mine asking them to please PM me when they get their NOA2s... and then I got 3 e-mail alerts from CRIS (I keep my MSN messanger on so a notice pops up on my screen when I get in a new e-mail) and I screamed at the top of my lungs. I went to see if it was a RFE or NOA2 and sure enough, NOA2. I screamed bloody murder, bursted into tears sobbing hysterically, and was laughing all at the same time. My mom came pretty close to falling off her chair because I scared her so bad LOL. I called my fiance and was crying so hard that he couldn't understand me, when I finally got it out clear enough he yelled right there in the train he was in. LOL! I was crying for like half an hour, and I'm not a crier! It's one heck of a memory!

Angilla, I got the same letter, - today - with the same date as you. But, when I called NVC today, they said it was sent on 12/28!!! I bet yours went on the same day as mine!!

Oh too funny - especially since we're going through the same service center, same embassy, and have the same NOA2 date! That'd be crazy to know it's on it's way to Paris already!

Wow congratulations, at the rate you're moving you'll have your visa by uhhh maybe next week? Did you send out the wedding invitations yet! :P

Ummm well we are sorta working on the wedding plans. We're figuring early April, I think it's safe to say he'll be here by then. :D We just won't put deposits on anything til later on, just in case.

Thats nice, I don't know about you, or your fiancee, but changes that happen too fast can be pretty overwhelming. I know my fiancee is pretty laid back and not used to descent size cities and all, so I sometimes worry about being able to make sure I can make her feel comfortable and not overwhelmed with all the big changes she's going to feel.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhile you're waiting for NOA2: Talk to your boss!

My advice... while you're waiting for the NOA2, talk to your boss about the letter you'll need stating your employment for the I-134! Explain it to your boss and ask how long it'll take to get it when you need it, so they're aware and you know how long it'll take. It took almost 2 weeks for my boss to do it for me. Not like it killed us or anything, it's just annoying to get the NOA2 and have to wait so long for your boss to sign a 1 paragraph letter so you can send all the necessary documents to your loved one. :)

Funny news is... on the same day I get the letter from my employer, I get a letter from the NVC saying they got our case on 12/29 and it'll be sent to France within a week.

Wow congratulations, at the rate you're moving you'll have your visa by uhhh maybe next week? Did you send out the wedding invitations yet! :P

A touch is not a good thing, you don't want an RFE. VSC is off of its peak rate and gotten much slower and soon CSC is going to take the lead. The cycle has turned. Just keep the faith, NOA2 will come out of the blue, 5 months is the average. According to Igor there are 55 or so March filers that haven't been approved yet and several with March 1st NOA1.

Yes Looky, we are devastated. Everything seemed to be going so well and approvals for our NOA1 date were coming through. I had all the paperwork for the rest of the process in hand and had contacted everyone to see what was possible in terms of completing the process. I had visions of us running for the plane that would get us there just in time to land on US soil. As far as I know the child option isn't possible on an I-130 so we decided to do it this way. Maybe they will give us the option to resubmit new evidence but I don't think they can freeze the aging out. As for the future, we are trying to figure it out. We met as little kids at school in NZ. He went travelling at the age of 17 and ended up back in the US. By coincidence we met up online in 2009 and spent most of 2010 together, and didn't know about the lengthy process involved or we would have done the K1/K2 sooner. Thanks for your kind words Looky ... we will keep on with our journey in some form.. just need a plan.

I checked the VJ NZ embassy info. It says that they will do Direct Consular Filing for US Citizens and they don't have to be legal residents. That means you can file the I-130 directly with the consulate which means you skip over USCIS. If that might work with your plans, then look into it. Good luck Andie.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMarch 2011 Filers..

Hey guys... happy for all of you that things are moving...

You may have read my fiance's post about our situation... basically a disaster!
We have been denied without RFE - we haven't had the letter yet so don't know the full details but probably because though we sent the initial petition with some of the supporting docs... some had been inadvertently left out(still don't know how this happened). We sent those as soon as we had the NOA1 reference # so it would hopefully connect with our original packet. Some people have had success with this. Anyway long story short it doesn't seem to have done so and my daughter ages out next month. She can't stay here in NZ on her own for any extended time so our options are very limited. Just thought I should let you know that our file has had a response but it wasn't the one we wanted. We have very few petitions from here in NZ so the embassy and medical could have been done very quickly. Now with NVC slowing up.. yes, it would have come down to days or even hours but it was possible. Anyway I'll keep looking in on you guys to see how you are doing... (it has become something of a habit).

So go and show them how its done!! and I'll be looking for more approvals...

Oh no Andie thats terrible news! Are you sure that your girl will age out, is there no way to extend the age limit on the count of extenuating circumstances or something? Would the age limit be different if he filed the I-130 for you if you got married? I mean what if in this letter they give you some option to resubmit new evidence. I mean what will you do? What you are saying is that you have to stay with your girl but then where does that leave you and your man? I don't know this sounds like a terrible situation, I hope the best for you and hope you will find some way out. Best wishes to you! (F)

Hey guys, just found this forum and I think ots a great idea and wanted to get invovled. I am english and im filling for a k1 visa, received my noa2 on july 12th, 3 mo.ths after filing on march 12th. Just wondering how lobg is the expectant time to hear back from.nvc so I can schedule my interview and medical in london

You can have your US fiance call NVC in about a 2 weeks, talk to an operator and see if they have your case yet. It can be quite frustrating cause you will find it hard to reach them. The automated system is rarely up to date.

In any case they should generally have it in a month and send it off to the consulate.

Congratulations and good luck!

Looky--Glad to hear minor RFE easily attended to. I remember that question on form: checkbox after many bullets almost missed it myself. "Almost" because panicked a bit thinking I might have missed, just now pulled copy out of file, but is check off. (Whew are we all on pins and needles here a little, or what?!) :-) --RK

Yes when it comes to something as important as bringing your life partner to the US, I think we've all got to be on pins and needles, when it comes to the moments of truth stages.

I remember having to spend weeks to get all the paperwork and evidence scanned and all that stuff and by the end you're just so tired and you also need to get it off quick, meanwhile checking all the 100 pages that I put together, oh well it happened.

But in my case we want to bring her dog with us and I hear you should do it when its not too hot at the destination airport cause the poor dog will be in a cage in the cargo hold while at the airport for what could be hours in hot weather. Many airlines have restrictions on that. So were going with what 2 big airlines do, wait till the middle of September to fly.

So its not a real hurry.

I called on the 8th after no VNC results after the NOA2 for 4 weeks. They said it was all done on the 7th. Today I get a letter saying it has been sent to London, and the letter is dated the 8th.

Onward!

Congratulations, now just the interview keepinng you both apart!

Those frogs, are really smiley faces tapping their fingers impatiently because they're waiting waiting waiting!

As to the Bloody Mary recipe, it was all the stuff I could remember as to how to undo a jinx from when I was a kid, if you have some to add to it, it couldn't hurt!

 Cool! Smiley frogs! Pretty cool bloody mary recipe, how does one improve on perfection? B-)
