K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHELP! Gathering documents for interview

I'm trying to look through the I-134, Affidavit of Support, 2-page form.
I got to the part where it says "Name of spouse and children accompanying or following to join person:
Spouse:
Child
Child

Now, since I put on the form, on the same page but before that part under "This affidavit is executed on behalf of the following person:"
I put Carolina's full name, since she's my fiancee and the person that I'm filling out the form for.... Do I just skip the part I just asked about? or put N/A in each space???

Put NONE in for Spouse, Child, Child (each space). Thats what they do for the I-134 in the Example Forms link up top.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresi-134 question

Good morning everyone,

I hope this hasn't been asked for or anything, I couldn't find a similar question on the search page. I just received our NOA2 this week, and so we're starting to get the ball rolling with all the paperwork she needs and I need as well. One of my questions is regarding how soon I can begin compiling the i-134 paperwork, namely the verification of employment letter from my job. Since the interview would realistically be in about 2-3 months, is it too soon to go ahead and get that letter done NOW? i.e., will a letter dated in May be okay for a July/August interview?

Thanks in advance!

I would start gathering things now, a few months old won't hurt anything and in fact you can attach more recent pay stubs closer to the interview. In fact I haven't even gotten NOA2 but I already got my employer letter.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1-PASSPORT PHOTOS
You only need to send a G-325A for the petitioner and one for the beneficiary and one passport photo for each of you.

The 4 copies is a remnant of the past when the G-325A was 4 carbon copy forms.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresevidence

:o too bad i dont have any receipts.. i dont even have photos of me and her family.. and the only receipts i have is the western union receipts that i send her once in a while, which i will probably will not include as that may raise a red flag. yea it sucks. i should have been more prepared back then. but i will include more evidence as time goes along and give it to her for the interview.

Wow yeah, is this your first time to China. If thats true your passport stamps sort of show the time frame the pictures had to be taken, if the pictures have a Chinese sort of background.

You can attach documents explaing things, if you think that will help.

Yes list the dates on the back of the photos, they'll believe you unless there's a reason not to.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresevidence
Also, your naturalization certificate and passport are both proof of Citizenship. Other evidence if you have it could be good like receipts, possible hotel itinerary with both of your names on it, and even pics with you your fiance and her mother or father.

In general you want to make your evidence read like a good story and with no red flags in sight.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport-style color photograph with the I-129F package

I personally used http://www.epassportphoto.com as it's free and makes sure the photos are within the specifications of multiple countries (If you need them for different countries things). I didn't know about this website for K1 but did for AOS and my Aussie passport. It's saved me a lot of money.

**Edited to make link clickable.

Thanks, thats good to know!

Took me ages to find a place to do them in Aus.

Actually you can do the photos yourselves, you just need a white background, fit the head within the 2" X 2" (50mm X 50mm) and follow the specs for the picture which are listed on USCIS site or somewhere.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport Photo

So my fiance is back in the philippines and Im stationed here in south korea. I want to start the fiance visa package but i dont have a passport photo of her. Will it get rejected? What should I do because I need to get this visa done and approved before november.

So I guess what you're saying is that there's no way of getting it taken and sending it to you?

In case this gives you any ideas:
How about if she gets it taken and posts it on a website, and you download it from where she posted it? Also there are some online passportphoto sites in case that helps.

One other hope: On this VJ post Pushbrk lists a memo that says something to the effect that strictly speaking the beneficiary's passport should only be needed at the embassy.

http://www.visajourn...i-129f-package/

But it sounds like thats left to USCIS interpretation.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUSC Change of Address

Ok so the USC moves apartments next weekend, and we just got out NOA2.

So do i call NVC to change the address?

Or something else?

Ben

To inform USCIS the US Citizen can just file online address change: https://egov.uscis.g...ction=coa.Terms

The thing is one of the DS forms asks where the beneficiary will be living so you will be listing the USCs new address on that. So you probably want to make sure the embassy knows that the address you are listing is the USCs new address. So yes also contacting NVC might be good so they notify the embassy.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs the DS-156 form not working for anyone else?

No, that didn't help. It says you only need internet explorer 5 or above anyways

Its funny I have IE 9 and when I first read this post I had the same problem. Then I went to the site http://travel.state.gov/ clicked on the Visas tab and then the Forms tab and now it all works. So try it again there's probably something funky with getting it setup but it seems to work for me now.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresrecieved letter from london

alright thanks. what documents does he need to send to the embassy with these forms?

He needs to take the I-134 Affidavit of support that you ( the US Citizen ) should send him. He should get police reports from all places he lived for more than 6 months since age 16. Birth certificate, Divorce certificate (translations if not in English ). He also needs to get his medical exam done before the interview so they get the results. Pay the visa fees.

You should send him proof of ongoing relationship and possibly new signed marriage intent, and copy of the I-129F package so he can review it before the interview and possibly use to support any interview questions.

Most of the process is listed here:
http://www.visajourn...tion.html#4.3.1

Good Luck!

P.S. He'll also need Passport photos, I believe exactly what they need should be listed on the packet the consulate sends him.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to find a previous I-129F application info

Any help in finding a database or online way to discover an application i did in 1995?
Otherwise i guess im stuck going down the the local INS office and waiting...and waiting.... and...

thanks in advance for any help on this topic!

I've never tried it, but seriously I doubt they have it. Until recently they didn't even keep track of prior approvals in their database. I would just attach a sheet explaining. Give them as much info on what they ask as you can.

Mostly what its for is to see if you have filed before in the last 2 years and the number of times you have filed. Since we're talking about over a decade and a half ago I don't think you have to worry about it too much.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChanging the beneficiary’s address during K1 process

Use the parent's address for now for fiance's address once arriving here in the U.S.? The government won't give a hard time about it being my parent's home and not having my own (yet)?

Your fiance will have a chance to list your new address, as the place she will be living in the U.S. when she has to fill out the DS forms for the embassy. You can change you address with USCIS online when you move.

They know people are moving all the time. No they won't give you a hard time because you have a legitimate reason and also people use their parents address all the time. I've also done it in the past.

I have a question similar to this... Currently I'm living with my parents but will be moving out by august 1st at the latest. I'm finishing up the I-129F package but there's question 14- foreign fiance's address when arriving to the U.S. Do I state my parents address even though we will not be living there, but I'm there now and don't know the address of where I will be come August 1st (Moving into an apartment, waiting on job change to do so)???

Any advice,so greatly appreciated!

Yes no problem just use that address, as long as you can get your mail from there.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresdocumentary proof

Hello,
Thanks guys for the reply.
well, yes Jimvaphuong is right, Algeria is not UK..issues are so big ...
Well here i m, since i wrote to u guys the message, i have organized the most important pictures by trip: so my first one to the USA, than europe trip together than his 1st trip to Algeria, his second and included a small trip together to tunisia, than and finally his last trip this may in Algeria.. So i fund my self, like TOOOO much pictures Like almost 50 in each trip, and 100 for the europe one(because we were in Paris, prague , nice and monaco..)...
Now im thinking, the Co has few minutes to look at them and want see just enough to say okay, this looks like acouple having fun and enjoying each other.. but how many can be enough?? like 10 for each trip??? cause i tryied to select the ones with friends family and connection , very few are about juts him and me...

Please advice me...

You should have pictures of both of you together and also with the others family is good. Since you have so many you might want to take some from different dates so that it shows your relationship spans over that whole time period. For the interview I would take actual photos not copies. Yeah you don't need too many pictures 100s sound like too many. Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCalled from the embassy for more info (Santiago Chile)

Hola a todos:

I am one week away from my interview at the embassy of the USA in Santiago Chile and today I got a phone call from the embassy and they start asking me questions about how we met with my boyfriend, when he visit me in Chile, how long did we lived together, were I work right now and were he works right now and when was the last time we saw each other in person I told them that he left Chile the 23th of July last year, so she asked me how we keep our relationship then and told her thought skype, facebook, phone and email.

I am very confused right now is this normal???

Thanks

XOXO

It doesn't sound normal. I don't know anything about the Chile consulate, but I looked at peoples reviews of the embassy, and from a quick look, nobody mentioned anything like that.

I would try to see if your fiance can get some of that info/evidence to you, if you don't have it. If somebody who knows about Chile doesn't respond, you might want to try the consulate forum.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChange of Address - a hassle?

Thanks for all your replies.

Well so far we've only sent in the i129f so surely we'd just have to do the online part? Since it's only the Petitioner so far who has filed anything. Then I would fill in the new address on all the new paper works? :)

Best

David

Thats correct USCIS really is only concerned with people living in the US.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChange of Address - a hassle?

Hey guys
Just wondering, it looks like you can change your address on record with the USCIS online on their website. Does this complicate things? Will there be any need for paperwork? Or is it literally just a matter of creating an Account with them based on the case number from the NOA1 and changing the address?

Thank you so much.

David & Maggie

For the US citizen they can change it online. For your fiance there is an AR11 form. Its not just to send you mail they want to know where the person is that you brought into the country.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoes anyone know how the Background Checks work?
From what I've read in the past, 2007 or so, of which I don't know the link anymore. They start with name checks and there are different levels of databases. If the petitioners name sort of matches something in the database then they have to dig deeper. I imagine the different databases are controlled by different organizations so with each organization theres probably a waiting line. Then if they feel they need to they might have to dig into physical records.

I don't know how this process relates to getting security clearances for government related jobs but even those can take 3 to 6 months or longer and they can depend on how many different places that you lived.

I think the most frustrating thing for you must be that not even a congressman or senator can do anything until the backgrond checks finish cause its all very secretive and nobody gets any information until its complete.

Good luck to you, I hope you're out of it soon!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE after waiting 6 1/2 months

The RFE doesn't necessarily mean they want more proof of relationship. It could be any number of things..maybe you forgot to sign something, missed a line on the petition somewhere...it's possible it is something with a very easy fix.

Thats a good point, did the OP actually get the RFE hard copy or just an email?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChild after I-129 F?

I will soon be send the I-129F package for my fiance's visa. On the I-129F it asks if she has any children. Currently, she does not. She is pregnant though, and in all liklihood, the baby will be born before she is granted an interview at the embassy.

I cannot put down that she has a child, since the baby isn't born yet. The due date is in September, so the baby will probably arrive before she gets an interview. Also, since the baby is mine, it is an American citizen, right? Does the baby need a visa? Or how do I go about getting citizenship for the baby?

Does anyone have any suggestions on the situation?

Geez... this stuff is so complicated.

Yes there was somebody here with the same situation. I remember somebody said there is a process at the embassy for your future baby. I already forgot the name of the process. Yes if the baby is verified to be yours it will be a US citizen and you will be able to bring it to the US. Congratulations!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS-156K question

Hi all,

I have a question regarding this form. There's a small box where they ask you if you have ever been in the USA and for how long...since I was born I've been in the US 9 times but in that box there's barely enough space to mention only one trip. What do I? I provide an additional sheet to list all my trips?

Thank you

You mean the DS-156
In the example form: http://www.visajourn...Form-DS-156.pdf
they put 'See page 3' so there was a 3rd page which had enough space to enter the rest of the dates anyway. I didn't try to check whether the currrent online on has a 3rd page but I imagine it does.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNickname in "Other Names Used"

Hi all,

My legal name is Cassandra, and I have always used this on any legal forms I fill out. However, I have always been called Casey, and so there is a chance this name will have made it onto some of my records (if doing a background check).

So, I want to include Casey on my I-129F and G-325a forms. My question is, which of the following ways should I fill in the "Other Names Used"?

1) Casey
2) Casey (short for Cassandra)
3) Casey (nickname)
4) Casey Mylastname
5) Casey Mymiddlename Mylastname

Of course I would be writing actual middle and last name...

Well first remember the G-325A and I-129F use the Family Name (Last Name) First.

So I would put in your format number 5, only Last Name first. They ask for the last name in CAPS on one of the forms. As for me I've always put everything in CAPS.

Good luck!

do pictures have to be sent in with the i-129f or are they needed for the interview ?

thanks again for all the replys

Yeah some people don't like their pictures taken but you know some things, like this requires some sacrifice. ;) Yeah 4 or so pictures withing 2 years, with the I-129F is what they recommend.

For the interview they want to see your ongoing relationship and each embassy and CO is different, and yes original pictures and newer evidence of ongoing relationship is recommended.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurespictures

I agree pics are primary (meaning to me mandatory) evidence. Not 1 pic together in 8 visits?

I believe sending in a petition now will be a waste and surely result in a RFE. Once a RFE is received, you have a limited amount of time to correct this. You will then have to travel back for pics (6-8 pics are fine). Everything I have read here on VJ says pics are needed.

Maybe someone out there has had this issue and can give some insight to what happened and if there is anyway around this.

Best wishes and good luck.

There are a few here that insist that some have gotten NOA2 with 1 or no pics, but I wouldn't suggest it cause then like others have said, it brings up questions, and certainly then you will need to show a lot of good proof to convince the adjucator.

Then at the interview stage they certainly want to see pics.

I mean what comes straight to my mind is that if you met so many times why do you have no pics together, that seems kind of strange. So I imagine the same thought would come up in the adjucators mind.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresneed an ideas:) (Prev. K-1 withdrawn, new petition & petitioner)

i read darren's story but i don't see anything wrong with that and besides love doesn't need to count times on how long you've been together it's all about how you love and trust each other. i've known my fiance now for 7 months and everyday we talk and see each other on skype because it's a long distance relationship and he's working so as much as he wanted to stay with me he can't because he needs to work...if you don't have a good advice just leave my page..anyway thanks for reading... :bonk:

Well I had little bit issue with the other posters saying you could have a problem cause they are making assumptions about why the previous guy withdrew. Since you still got the packet from the embassy you had to act upon it just in case the past guy changed his mind.

Yes you could get questioned about it in the interview, if somehow somebody remembered you but if you have a good explanation then so what. But what would make sense is they keep track of K-1 cases not individuals. Since this is a completely different case then the one with the previous petitioner they should have no right to judge you, and their only right should be to judge the case at hand which the current petitioner brought up.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresneed an ideas:) (Prev. K-1 withdrawn, new petition & petitioner)

hi everyone:) just asking some ideas and if anyone had the same experienced like me...july 2008 i was petitioned as k1 and got my noa2 november 2008, by mid january of 2009 me and my ex decided to cancelled the petition and he called the nvc. at the end of january 2009 i recieved a letter from my embassy stating that i can schedule my interview. so i decided to go to the interview because i don't want to have a bad record to the embassy. the consul told me that according to their system that the petition was cancelled and asked me if i knew about it and i said yes but i was wondering why they still sent me an interview packet, so i got 221g waiver. so they took my passport and some of my documents and told me that incase my ex wants to continue the petition he'll just call and they will give me another interview. but before that interview me and my ex was not in good terms already and before my interview he just dissappear and never heard from him anymore. so within time i went busy and no time to get my passport to the embassy. but after like 6 months i decided to go back to the embassy and get my passport. and before i got it they asked me if i'm sure to get my passport and i said yes and they told me that they will forward the cancelled petition to the national visa center...and now my fiance filed a k1 petition last month and we got our noa1 march 16th..my question is is there anyone had the same situation like me before? i know they will question me on my interview about my previous petition:( is my new case will be affected?..just getting confused now any ideas will appreciate:)

Did I get this correct, you are the beneficiary and the petitioner that just filed for you is not the same one that filed for you before?

In any case the beneficiary is not affected by prior filings for them.

as i said 2 rents, 2 rows of taxes, everything divided to 2 makes a big difference compared to 1. giving up would kill us. we know eachother for more than 6 years if we dont do it now we'll never do it.

Its not only the the rents and all that, the dollar is quite low. For each dollar sent from the US its worth only about 0.70 euros. Just think how much those dollars would buy in the US compared to Romania.

I am one who believes you two can pull it out because you are both fighters and you will not quit. Like you said it would kill both of your spirits if you two were to give up on each other.

Just hold on, take care of yourself and try to keep grandma in check, or if it becomes impossible find a friend you can share a flat with or something. (F)

Yes of course Sam is helping you. I was just wondering if his father is helping co-sponsor you? Cause then it may be easier if they could make a deal with your grandmother to look out for you instead of ... Also his father might know more about how to contact the congressman and see if he can try to get some sort of expedite for you.

No one wishes to be Harsh upon you.
Your Finance' needs to do something fast.
The Petitioner ONLY has to show Proof of Income and Support you. Even in periods such as you are going through now (though not required it is a Moral Obligation of your Fiance')

DeeDee I am sooo sorry and shocked to learn this about your situation especially after seeing you posts in the March filers group! You and Sam are both 21, is he being
Co-Sponsored at all by his father? I think the first thing you need to do is find someone you can stay with and see if Sam can help you make some sort of deal with them to let you stay there for the time you will have to wait for your NOA2 and then interview and visa. I am not sure if an expedite will just help get your NOA2 faster or if it will be an expedite at the embassy also.

Sam could try contacting the congressman living in his district and explain the situation to see if he can help. But even if he could, for sure you will need a place to live and food to eat. So worry about that and your health before anything cause you need that to get thru the rest of this.

Good luck and we're praying for you in the March thread! (F)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOnline DS-156 Form Will Not Print Correctly

Hello, I was wondering if anyone was having trouble with the online DS-156 form. When either my fiancee or I try to fill out all the information and click continue, the resulting PDF that the browser displays only shows the answers, not the questions (except for #38 bullet 3). There is a barcode on first page that has a pattern that usually looks similar to this MBBBWWWWWI. And it does generate a barcode at the bottom of third page that is a series of square pixels with no labels, characters, or numbers beside it (the one they scan to import all the encrypted data into their system).

Is this the way the form is suppose to behave? I was thinking if I couldn't get this resolved before Thursday (3 days from now, her interview), we would just print these weird forms with the barcodes and then print two blank copies of the forms so that she can hand print her information. (Yes, I know they technically don't want hand-printed forms without a barcode). Moreover, I use Windows Vista, and tried the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, along with the most updated Adobe Acrobat. She was at an Internet Cafe using the same or slightly older software (but definitely more recent than the IE 5.0 the website talks about - http://evisaforms.state.gov/)

I'm just not sure what to do at this point. This is the only thing left we need for the interview.

Any help that you guys and gals can provide would be greatly appreciated. I should have screen shots of the web PDF attached below in a Word Document. Of course, this example doesn't have any data put into it (other than a random passport number I entered). The only difference between this form and a completely filled one is that there are 2 pages full of answers (and still no questions). But other than that, the problem listed above remains the same.

There was some post here a a week or 2 ago with the same problem, they mentioned there was some different application the used to print it. Also somebody said if you can just print the blank forms out you're allowed the write the info by hand. You can try a VJ search and maybe you'll find the post.

So hopefully somebody will reply, who has actually dealt with this problem. Good Luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCertificate of Naturalization for proof of citizenship

Nobody is allowed to make photocopies of a Certificate of Naturalization without authorization. That's why is reads DO NOT PHOTOCOPY.
You, however, are authorized to make a photocopy of your own Certificate for USCIS, as they want you to do just that. They also know that the Certificate is marked with DO NOT PHOTOCOPY, as they put it on there. If it would not show up, they'd know it's a fake.

Not true that was ages ago.
