any green thumbs in the house?

we gonna redo our backyard this summer.....to something low maintenance. laying all new grass and few hearty bushes...that way all we really have to do is cut the grass and not spend all friggin weekend weeding flower beds. anyone have any suggestions for nice bush/tree that require zero or low maintenance? i was thinking a lilac tree...i really like hydrangeas but dag those phocks are expensive...

Hey Finess (( waving))

how are those beautiful babies?

Deh Resident Gardenista is inna deh house, Finesse sounds like you mean business. Have you ever seen Rose of Sharon trees or Bushes they are gorgeous I have both. They are in the hibiscus family a very cold hardy perennial and fragrant. Also Azalea bushes are lovely, colorful and fragrant as well

I love hydrangeas too but if you want a good deal I can hook you up with some online folks that are not expensive at all. So you aren't going to do any other flowers? How about some hostas for ground cover? Also if you do plant flowers you want them to grow in succession as the seasons pass, Spring, Summer, and Fall. If you follow this plan you will always have flowers blooming until frost!

Now if you want to do tropicals I can help there as well cause my house look like the Amazon LOL I put 3 of my hardy bananas in the ground but I put comforters on them at night LOL and hubby looks at me like   but it's a necessity! I can give you tips on tropicals and how to Winter them depending on your zone.

If you were on FB you could see my garden LOL although they are like 2 years old I never even posted last years with all the drama  ( when are you getting on FB Lady?) Anyhoo I will start posting new pics shortly had to turn dirt and weed this weekend and get the veggies in the ground. All my lillies and spring flowers are coming up now and the hostas are blooming. I also planted some bulbs as well which I recommend as its much cheaper than purchasing full grown flowers.

Ok I guess I have rambled on enough about gardening, let me know if you have any specific questions

It's going to be too crazy to sneak into Alice in Wonderland so that will have to wait. But I'm thinking The Crazies, Shutter Island, Lightning Thief & there was one other I can't remember now. I want to get three in & when we come out about six hours later the ticket guy is going to go    Hubby is scared to do it though....he says if I go in another theater he'll follow but he doesn't want to do it!

Philly you are firm but you don't believe in certain things when it comes to children (You and I have discussed this before) but when your child is the "spawn of satan" you gotta get down and dirty.
The most important thing seriously though is to mean what you say and say what you mean. Sometimes you gotta act a lil throwed off but in the end they get it.

LOL @ the spawn of Satan but girl we done been through all that wildin out this is a new era for us. When I need to trust me I can get throwed too and Lawd knows I been there too many times but the CONTRACT works trust me now. Go into a store, tell them you are going to a different aisle. Seperate from them. Get in your car and leave! Pull over for about 10 minutes to see how they handle it...

Ive driven out of Walmart and watched my kids in the rearview mirror chasing the car!!!

Ive threatened to push my son out of the car while driving it....

Whatever works :)

Remember when we were kids & none of that stuff could be used as a threat or punishment? The only threat you could give us was that we wouldn't be allowed to go outside & play!

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaYardies a home and a farrin, Part 24!

Was that a freudian slip?? I've called bratty kids 'little snots' before!

LOL yes Likkle snot haaaa

Okay I see I have to go here:

Tee's 101 class: How to maintain control with unruly chilrens:

Some of these apply to younger children and some apply to teens:

Rule #1 - Neva, ever, neva, eva let children know how long they are being punished for because then you give them the upper hand!!! Kids these days are smart and will reason with themselves this way, "That %^&*( can punish me all she wants. I only have to be on punishment for a week" They ride it out like aint nuffin bothing them. However, it begins to bother the "parent" that this lil bug-eyed bastid don't seem to be affected by this!!! lol

Now if you tell them they are on punishment, and you take things away from them, make the rules clear from the beginning like so... "You are on punishment. I am taking x,y,z away from you until I FEEL like giving it back. I have a date in mind that I am going to give it back to you but unitl then you aint getting it. And if you ask for it back at anytime, I will extend your punishment....

For those children that like to have tantrums, well you need to throw one right back so they can look at you like  (Reverse psychology) cause remember our chilrens aint dumb.

For those children who threaten to call 9-1-1 tell them go ahead I needed a vacation from your lil #### anyway! Maybe your new Foster parents will feed you and clothe you and give you everything you want!!!!

For those children who like to "snitch" on you to your relatives, pack their suitcase and tell them to call that relative to let them know what time they can be picked up!!!

Now if none of the above methods work.. well, its time to WHOOP DAT AZZ!!!! cause nothing/nobody you helped give life to should be acting disrespectful and acting like park apes!!!!!

(L) Just some words of wisdom for us parents (L)

Girl do you know how many times I have argued wid my Mom about the length of punishment She is like you have to tell them umm hellll no that don't make no sense to me. For the exact reason you say they think they getting over and can be on task for a week and wild out as soon as they are off.

My Contract works wonders now cause they know I don't give no time limits you are just hotter than fish grease that you have nothing and have no idea when they getting back their privileges!

Why Q text me last yesterday chat bout can he have his XBOX back haaaaa delete!

LOL @ the whoop azz you know it! Parenting nuh easy at all I swear but mi love dem raas!

Finese this is my new form of punishment too. I used to pop him upside the head but you figure after a few minutes there o.k. so I hit him where it hurts. The Xbox, cell phone and basket ball. I started off with a week and each time you cut up you get another week added. My son has cut up again I am so tired of telling him about the kitchen. For the life of me we have a dishwasher so the kitchen should be a breeze but it still looks a hot mess each morning. I come down.

I did no arguing or fussing. I just politely went up in his room and took the X-Box hung up on the person he was talking to and told him to come straight home from school. Next time it’s three.

Then I teased him when I got home later like did you get the text I sent you today? Oops my bad you don’t have your phone do you? He tried to tell me I can’t take his phone cause his papa pays the bill. What ever I see you still don’t have the phone.

You know it took me a while to not argue cause I used to flip out and stress out myself.... but girl this contract I drew up works wonders and all I have to do now is whip it out and here are the Consequence(s) /Restrictions for failing to meet these conditions:

Removal of the following from the bedroom:

? Television
? DVD player
? Access to Direct TV Cable
? Xbox 360
? MP3 Player
? Phone(s)

I love the contract and they now fear it LOL

Hey...Good Morning to everyone...can i tell that i never ever been to haiti...sad isn't it...my father been back once since he been here which is over 30yrs now and that was maybe 16yrs ago...same with my mother...she went back once only too because her brother passed away and never been back since and that was about 20 yrs ago...I always wanted to go but my parents (well more my mom) are scared...my mom had an auntie who went back not to long ago maybe 5 yrs ago and she got kidnapped...We all had to put in money for her ransom so they can let her go free...they didn't do anythig to her...her husband is a doctor so she think she got targeted because of that...my mom always say though that when it gets better she will go back...but she has been saying that for years now...my cousin went out there a few months ago and he said it was nice just really really hot...

Hey Stone,

I so know exactly how what you are talking about. I haven't been back since 2001 and when my Grandfather passed I wasn't able to go either for the funeral because of the kidnappings. It was really bad and there was no way we could chance it cause we don't have $ like that you feel me. I will say I miss it, it's so different from JA a whole other way of life and to be honest I felt so guilty when the quake hit because I felt like I has abandoned that side of the family and was more into the JA side of the fam with not traveling back and forth as often. I showed my Hubby the amount of Haiti Passport stamps I had then they just stopped. I struggled with the guilt for a while but now I am just pressing on and doing what I can for the family left there now..... My son has been doing reports and presentations on Haiti all week and is doing a great job he even did a report on Vodun I am proud of him and I so want him to go this year.

I have some pics that my Mom dug out from Haiti and these were before the digital cameras so I took a pic on my phone instead of scanning and I will post them on FB soon.

LOL girl I swear its so hot in Haiti I used to love my complexion when I returned I never have achieved that type of tan in JA. It's so hot but I miss it so much (F)

I agree I used to love talking to couples with many years of experience. It’s like they could relate to you. One thing I will mention Dens is if you have some “single “friends be careful with their advice. Sometimes it’s not always the best advice. I truly believe a person can’t always speak on something if they have never been in your shoes. My single ladies couldn’t really relate they were quick to tell me leave him. In the end I did but that’s not always the answer. You have to remember he is no longer your boyfriend or man he is your husband and like they say through good times and bad.

I still think communication is the most important factor. Without it the relationship will be hard. Couples have to learn that rather it will hurt your feelings or not talk about it.

I have GF who is driving me nuts. She says her relationship has lost all #######. I told her it’s not always the man who has to initiate things the woman does too. So many woman sit back and wait for their man to bring the WOW factor. I believe it’s on both parties. A man likes to be wowed just like us woman do. I told her to start it and then let him take it from there. She said she agreed with me but she hasn’t done anything yet. So then I told her to talk to him about it and let him know how you feel. Again she agreed with me but she still hasn’t spoke to him about it. .When she came bk to complain I told her until she tries step one or two I don’t want to hear it…

O.k. I got completely of the subject but you know what I mean  … LOL

You know that is always my Mantra Dada cause no matter what we are going through as long as we have honest communication we can overcome/get trough anything

The only person I really chat too about marital issues is Mrs Bootsy she has been married to the same man for 40 years and they have been through it all and she has pure wisdom for me. We are on the phone all the time and she is only next door she will hear D int eh background mumbling/groaning and she knows what is going on and she nuh even deh deh. She seh oh he wants you off the phone you not paying him no mind haaa and she is right. She also advises to always be honest and open with each other it can only strengthen your bond!

I seriously almost killed my son last night. He has been grounded this whole week because of his dutty attitude and his chronic classroom disruption at school. So he has not been allowed to watch tv, play xbox, or go to basketball. Last night he asked if he could take his xbox to his dads this weekend and i said no.....he proceeds to go into a fit like a 3 year old and tell me that his dad is the one who bought the xbox so he could take it over there if he wants to.......i was like OH REALLY???? we'll see about that!

Ok, I sound like a boring old woman... LOL

Tierra's b-day is 3/20 ... 1st day of Spring. We are having a Tea Party
. I have gone to antique shops, goodwills etc and found a bunch of flowery mismatched tea cups and saucers. Last night went to the fabric store and bought "springy" colored fabric squares (all different) and my mom and I are make little aprons for all the girls to take home... so this weekend we are doing that.
Then for the party I am going to get hats or visors for the girls to decorate and take home... all in a Spring Tea Party theme.
Gosh... I love to decorate and plan these things for Tierra!! LOL

Then Saturday night my BFF and her new "friend" are coming to hang "in".....

No big parties, no going out.. but I love my family and friends and look forward to weekends and these little things.

mi have it LOL

If you said SOME Americans I may have agreed but to sterotype us all? Im sorry I just don't agree. Ive worked 22 LONG DYAAM YEARS at the same job, which I believe due to the economy would let my rass go if need be, but I have an alternate plan on ready set go just incase! I am proud to say at the age of almost 40 years old I have returned to college to get my degree so that I no longer would have a job but a "career" at doing something I enjoy doing which is working with children.... So me lazy, nah sis.. in addition to that I was taking care of my sick mom, working full-time, school part-time, help raising my nephew and niece and helping my sick brother, raising one child who is bipolar.. where is the LAZINESS in that???

I feel you but listen here.. I don't give a rats patootey what folk run with.. If they don't like it that can suck their...... (finish it) Folks just miserable... They need a good shot of Vitamin "D" so they can chill the cluck out! *done*

LOL well alrighty then in my Jim Carrey voice

Girl hush, that Vitamin "D" is something serious...it can get you well real quick!!!

Yuh Mean Vitamin S
mi yeye sockets dem bun from wuk too mi counting dung deh days tillm e reach mi y

BRING IT!!!!

But on a serious note :innocent: my opinion, is that my opinion... and people want to sugar coat what aint really going on here(US).
We are blessed because we have what we have and OUR country takes it for granted at times.

For example I have 4 different friends that have worked for the past few years and all their life and because Obama is extending unemployment they are not even looking for employment for the last 1...2...years. ####### because it is given they are being lazy and taking advantage.

Thats just one example

Look at the poverty rates, some of it cannot be helped  and thats why we have to pray and educate, but some of it is self inflicted and the generational curse is not being broken.
We had a client at our job that got assaulted while being homeless, we gave him for 5 months, room board 3 hot meals spending money and rehab at least 30 hrs a week. When he left we even set him up in a group home and helped him apply for SS which he was approved.
Do you know he left 2 month after being placed in the group home and went to live back on the streets. (46 years old) He could have been so productive, really smart man but he doesnt wast it. He got lazy and is use to that life style..

And for that reason
Thats why I told my hubby I dont want to buy a house here in Vegas, I want my kids to know there is so much more in this country to see and experience, and if we buy here the kids will feel maybe obligated to stay, when I know its not best for them. Vegas is not the place in my opinion to stay and I have gotten LAZY here because its convenient. And that not right. So in the aspect of the

Clutch the pearls it was not meant to be taken as we all are but we need to count our blessings
because there are people that will work harder for it from other countries and will get the jobs. Thats why so many people want to do away with EOE because folks are on their game

(F)

JQ as always I respect everyone's opinions as mine should be respected as well and when I said "clutch the pearls" regarding your original statement was reaction a generalization regarding American's being lazy which IMO is a gross miscalculation and definitely not the opinion and perception of all foreigners or citizens of 3rd world countries alone. Yes people can be categorized but to generalize ain't right. I have been working and paying taxes since I was 14 and I come from an extremely hard working lineage which can be traced by to slavery through the African Diaspora. Yes I count my blessings everyday because I know what it's like on the "other" side and to not have options or opportunities but that doesn't mean people from other countries will work harder for it and we take it for granted not by any means ( long kissteet). yOU have some valid points but I certainly don't agree with all of your statements but I can respect them....... still luv yuh though!

Hey Philly....my mom is trying to get her sister and three kids over here...she is trying to find a good lawyer (and cheap) so they can process the visa paperwork...its going to be a lot for my mom though...her sister doesn't work and her three kids are all young...my mom and my aunt were the ones taking care of her and her kids back in Haiti....it will be harder for her if when they are here.....but its too crazy for them to be out there...Its tough...

Oh Sis I will keep you and your family in my prayers I know this is like a double edged sword because you want them to come and be here and be safe and prosper but it may also be a stress-or for your family if she does not step up when she gets here. It's not easy but you are right it's too crazy out there right now. I pray everything works out for your Sis!

yes girl.. it was hard becuz roger keeps my phone while at work so ididn't get my sisters text when the dr called her.
i went to the hospital as my regular visit after work.. the nurse told me he was moved but didnt say why..
when i got there.. the chaplain greeted me with "im sorry for ur loss" i was like
it was heartbreaking cuz he seemed to be doing SOOO well, but God wanted him to get well enough to get RIGHT..
the last time i saw him.. we were all listening to a sermon his cousin had recorded and my dad listened to the WHOLE thing, he had wanted my sister to sing to him but she wasn't there so we listend to that instead..
he told me how overwhelmed he was from everybody's outpour of love and attention that mnth he was in hospital..most of us he hadn't seen in years.. he told me he loved me and i told himand i know any shame or condemnation was gone.. i know he gained a relationship w/ the Lord too..he was ready.. had he got back in those streets, who knows what would have happened to him..

Wow Quanna that is truly a testimony you are so right God intervened at the right time for everyone I am so glad you were able to rebuild your relationship with him (F)

He just looks at me funny and points when I get on that sight. I don't think he's really running around looking for MY best deal anyhow. He just bugs me

OMG

I am all for cremation - One part of my family has travelled (and now some moved) to a beach area for years - everyone in the family is cremated when they have passed, and their ashes are scattered on the same beach. With the first person, this really pretty blue butterfly appeared and was flying around us all - Since then, there is one more butterfly each time someone passes - and the only place down there we see them is on this beach.

I know the CT Lawyers are doing a ton of probono work for this, probably NY too - Here is a link to the CT attorney info, they have clinics, etc...

To be continued.....

Part 2

Some people are not going to like this but IMO

Ok maybe you should explained to him. i dont want to live some where.. where life as I am used to.. is not always secure. The options America leaves for people are unbelievable. Some Jamaicans dont agree with the culture of American and thats fine, you can have Jamaican culture in America. Some people are not used to getting everything the american way.. and dont wish to bend to anything else. One thing about the US, you can do any rass thing you set your mind on in this country, and actually make money off it. And i love that.. in jamaica. the smallest idea can take you some place.. but it will never take you to far.. unless you hussle your way. The jamaica his parents grew up in is gone. For good... the jamaica he probably grew up in is getting worse, not better, and the main reason is= all the educated are leaving (SMH), and not coming back to make it better, so if he want to go back he should stay and make that money and maybe one day he will realize he love his country enough to try and return to help it out. Not go back because its easier. But one thing is and this is so true Americans are lazy and a Jamaican can have alot here because of their work ethic.

Be blessed momma and Pray because got can change the heart of all. (F)

Clutch the pearls, :wow: I will respond the rest uno momento trying to knock these orders out

hey ya'll!!! wanna thank EVERYBODY for the love on yesterday.. texts, fb comments everything.. i love my i-family!!!!!!!!!!

i am thankful that we all got to be with my dad his last mnth.. we talked and laughed and i know it was God cuz he could have easily died without us having this chance..

question...what do you think about cremation.. i personally have nothing against it, but some familymembers are tripping for real.. my dad has no money and cremation is the most affordable route but for a couple more hundred we could have just a gravesite burial w/ no head stone..
just looking for a lil more knowledge on the subject

Quanna ((( hugs)) Yes Sis praise God for the time you had with him (F) I know this is not easy but I know that funerals and the choices that have to be made cause too much family drama. Aside form the financial aspect did he ever voice his actual wishes?
