Hi All,

I am just dropping in to say hi. I have been looking through the thread and I don't see many people on here that was on VJ approximately 2to 3 years ago when I was on. I wonder what happened to everyone. I am back on regularly now. My husband and I are currently in the process of ROC so we are going for biometrics on May 12. Anyway just wanted to say hi and that I wish you all the best of luck!

Take Care

Africa: Sub-SaharanBlood Diamonds

Hi, everyone! This morning I watched an interesting documentary on the History Channel on Conflict or Blood Diamonds. I started wondering if VJers, especially those with SOs in Africa, discussed the issue of conflict diamonds before(or after) getting engagement or wedding rings. Did you an your SO discuss conflict diamonds? Was it a factor in choosing an engagement or wedding ring?

Prior to meeting, Teddy and I had both chosen not to purchase diamonds, so of course this included my enagement ring and our wedding rings.

-DA

After I seen blood diamonds It was confirmed that we weren't getting diamonds. He is still okay with diamonds but I am not. I would rather have my birthday stone ( emerald green). So we will see.

Thank you all for remembering! I am a bottle of nerves  right now. I spoke to my fiance at 6 a.m. this morning. He was at the Embassy. I said baby your interview is not until tomorrow. He said he knew that, but he had business over there and decided to stand outside the Embassy so he could get an idea on how they do things with the line-up and all. God knows I love this man! He has been preparing for this day for a while. He tells me that he is confident and he knows that he can answer any question that they ask him. There's nothing that we don't discuss. I'm not so much concerned about him as I am about the CO just acting up.

Thank you all for allowing me to vent. I'm so glad I found this website or else we would have been denied for sure!

Best wishes and I have said a pray for you :)

Best wishes!!! Everything will work out

National Visa Center (Dept of State)For January/February 2007 filers...

I was just wanting to get an idea about how long it takes for CSC to mail our packets to NVC. I am still waiting for them to receive mine. Does the NVC send an email or just a letter via postal mail?

Thanks!

They never sent me a letter stating when our case was mailed to the embassy. I did email NVC and they emailed me back letting me know that the case was mailed to the embassy. So, if you just received your hard copy of NOA2, your case will probably be mailed to the embassy by the end of this week or beginning of next week and then the long wait for pkt#3. 30 days to receive a pkg from a two hour destination by car ( Kingston to St Elizabeth) is just unheard of to me. That would have taken 2 to 3 days here.

Good luck with everything.

Hi everyone

My husband and I are traveling to Jamaica in October and I would like to know if anyone has ever traveled on the conditional green card and reentry permit. I know most people will say this is the obvious but I just want to make sure my husband will be able to come back in to US. I don't know what I would do if he couldn't. Thanks in advance for any reassurance given

Sorry not reentry permit. It is AP. Do I need to make reference to the AP if the conditional gc is present? Should I file for a reentry permit

I think you'll be fine, you have rgeat documentation, exactly what they are looking for.

You may want to consider going public and making everything transparent within your familys. You're adults now, you've already been married 2 years and it's on one else's darn business. You shouldn't have to hide the most important thing in your life.

That's just my opinion though, I'm probably old enough to be your mother :) I would want to know about my daughter being married, even if she was young, then I could support her emotionally.

Thank you! Greatly appreciated. I'm working on it!

Agreed, you seem to have a good base of evidence, and affadavits are secondary evidence anyway (as they can be easlily fabricated or manipulated)..

Thank you! I still have time so i'm not sure what I will do but VJ has helped me out so much with this process that I just really wanted to get you guys' opinions before I make a move.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionOur marriage has been a secret!

From what you say your lives are comingled. Your list of documents / evidence looks good. Affidavits aren't required.

Your story is your story. You can't change it, just tell it honestly if you are interviewed. I'm sure you aren't the first couple to keep the news a secret from the family.

Best of luck.

Thank you! I am actually here tearing up because we never had any problems with our paperwork and we know that we are the real thing. I would just hate to have this all come crashing down on me.

Thanks again!

Revised copy...it wouldn't allow me to edit

Hello Everyone,

I am in quite a dilemma. My husband and I are sincerely in love and I don't know what I would do if I didn't have him. We have been living together the entire time he has been in the US and have proof to show that it is a sincere relationship. I am getting ready to file for ROC and I am bit concerned because we have not told anyone about our marriage and we really don't have anyone to get signed statements from verifying our marriage. We will be filing ROC in April because his GC expires July 5, 2010. So far I have documentation containing:

Joint bank accounts.
Beneficiary of both life insurances. (his and mines...opposite)
Joint tax return in 2008 and 2009
Financial Aid information with both of our names on there
Utility bills with same address for the entire time
Joint Car Insurance
2 accounts of Travel documentation
Joint Medical/Dental insurance information
Copies of Drivers license
Joint Credit Cards
Copies of his pay stubs with his address
Pictures of each other and family from both our graduations

The house that we live is in my name because I sat at the settlement table with my mother and my husband and my moms would not go for me putting my *boyfriend* (in her eyes) on the deed.

Again, we are very much in love and living together (planning our future together) but we didn't tell anyone about our marriage because we were very young at the time we decided to get married and just didn't want to face the stereotypes. I received so much slack for even dealing with someone for having a long distance relationship with someone from Jamaica (yes my family is also Jamaican). We also still want to have our very special wedding day. I"m sure my family has some idea but no one has said anything. I say all of that to say how important is including the affidavit? Should I be worried with the evidence that I am including or should I just find a way to get those affidavits? I mean we would be willing to tell our families about our marriage but again we plan on having a very special wedding and including our family then.

Helpful comments only please. I feel bad enough as it is.
Thank you

Hi 12/11/2006,
When is the Receipt number on your NOA? You need this for the listPosted Image

And since you are VSC filer, it takes 3 to 4 months (or little bit more) to get approved.
You can refer to previous months filers listsPosted Image

I'm sorry but I do not understand when you say "when is the receipt number"? Can you please explain. The Receipt date is 4/5/10 if that is what you are referring to

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NBI Clearance or Police Clearance
Hi all,

I am a spouse of a U.S. Citizen and I submitted my NBI clearance to NVC because I read from the forums that an NBI clearance is required in lieu of a locally issued police clearance. Honestly, the NBI clearance looks "more official" than a police clearance you get from a local police station. However, I got a letter back from NVC stating that I should submit a police clearance. Which is which? And should I get a police clearance then for all the places I lived in the Philippines?

Thanks for any reply!

PhilippinesRegistration of Marriage Contracted Abroad
Hi everyone,

I got married civilly to a U.S. citizen last year in New Jersey and had a Church wedding here in the Philippines. I have asked the National Statistics Office on the requirements of registering our marriage contracted abroad since this is also a requirement when changing my passport to maiden name to married name, but I have never received a proper reply from them. I am right now in the Philippines, does anyone know the process on how to register here? Where do I go? What requirements are needed? I prefer to register it here in Cebu rather than the Philippine Consulate in NY.

Thanks!

Maya

PhilippinesHow long it takes to change passport to married name
Thanks so much everyone!! I'm glad I joined VJ .. before this I was in the dark about a lot of things!

Oh, and I used my old passport (with my Maiden Name) when submitting my documents to the USCIS. I applied for a CR1 visa. However, once you submit your passport with your Maiden Name, don't change your passport until you get your visa and enter the U.S. The visa will be issued in whatever name you use in your passport.

PhilippinesHow long it takes to change passport to married name
Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to change your passport to your married name (Phil. Consulate in NY)? I will have to immediately change my passport name because the greencard will be under my married name and I might have a problem reentering the U.S. even if I bring my marriage certificate right? Is there any form of rush service? I plan to travel on January.

Thanks for any advice!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)stuck at the NVC

Is Administrative Processing same as as Administrative Review?

Diana,

I think, Mary knows a lot about AP Vs AR. I know what it means in Embassy. AP is given when they need additional documents, need to perform the security check for clearance. AR is given when they are doubtful about a marriage, relationship.

Thank you all for your advice, i'll just have to keep waiting
