K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK1 Visa APPROVED one year after filing

Some of you know the struggled we have faced over the last year - waiting almost 10 months for NOA2, then not being told a decision at our interview and waiting in agony again...well, today my fiancé received his K1 visa by mail and we are both so happy that this part of our journey is finally over. Thanks to everyone here for their support and advice...don't know how we would have survived or gotten this far without it! :)

Best wishes to you all for a much quicker and smoother process!

Congrats I am so happy for you! :star:

Middle East and North AfricaNew here and would appreciate some help

So, whoever interviewed my husband this February denied his K-3 visa saying that he lied on the toursit visa interview, that he's never met me before applying for it!

Do you know that for a fact? Was that put in writing anywhere, or told to you? That's a serious, and out of the ordinary, excuse for 221 (g).

PS: the shaved head had nothing to do with it. He likely had very little chance of getting a tourist visa (insufficient ties to home etc)

Yes, i know that for a fact, he e-mailed me a scanned copy of the letter they gave him. THey didn't put that in the letter (that he lied, but they said it to his face). Now they got pushed by NVS from here since all my paperwork was ready and it's been a year since i've filed. I'm just afraid that they'd use that thing about him 'lying' against us and was trying to find out if there's anything i could do to make sure or at least try not to get the visa again. That would mean that we'd have to appeal and stuff and that's more time and money...... and you know. who wants to do that?

Thanks for reply

Hello everybody,

I'm new here and have a really burning question!!!

We've met online in 2004. Then i went to Morocco to meet him in August same year. Since there were some complications i couldn't file for Fiance Visa. So, I asked him to try for a tourist visa. It was denied, the interview was under 1 minute long and the officer had a paper 'sorry your visa was denied" in his hands ready!!!For some reason my now husband just shaved his head a month before that - i think that's why it was denied.
After that I was able to come back and we got married in 2005.
Now, my husband's interview was in February at the Casablanca. He recieved a form saying that it was returned to homeland sercuity for futher investigation (221(g)). After that nothing worked! I e-mailed, i called Casa and they all were saying the same thing. So, whoever interviewed my husband this February denied his K-3 visa saying that he lied on the toursit visa interview, that he's never met me before applying for it!

My question now is: he has an interview date and he doesn't believe he'll get a visa this time either. I kind of don't believe it too. But we have to try. So, is there anything i can do before the interview wich is next month to improve his chances of getting that visa? Like contacting somebody or something?I didn't have money for a lawyer before but i doubt now that would help.

Any advice?
Thanks in advance
T

What is the new interview for? If it is the CR-1, it is my understanding that it will be automatically sent back as well.

I wish you the best.

Rebecca

I am confused??? you have been granted two interviews since Feb 2006? Interviews for the same thing K3?

The interview is for immigrant visa this time and last time it was for K-3 and they denied it.

Middle East and North AfricaSamir at JFK
Well, congrats on your Samir getting here! That's the most important part!

Dont think going through Europe would have made much of a difference. They checked everything of mine in London since i had Henna on my hands. They only didn't strip search me! So, next time i took a direct fligth. And no more Philly either. They gave me hell here too. And NY was pretty smooth, well, at least for me. Don't know about people who aren't citizens, guess it's not smooth at all. Just thank God it's over. Some ppl still have a long way to go. Hope everything will go smoothly from now on for the both of you. And good luck!

Middle East and North Africa221 g Hicham got
"We will contact you by telephone to come back with your passport to pick up the immigration packet." That doesn't like denial to me. Maybe I don't uderstand something? My hubby got one that said 'further investigation', 'send back to the place you've filed' and similar. That took almost 6 months, actually, they're still not finished. Never heard about that paper of THAT interview AGAIN. I think, you should call Casa and demand an explanation. Then call where they send it. Hurry up, do it now! That doesn't give you a garantee but ... who knows, right?

Good luck

Middle East and North Africaplane tickets
First of all, congrats! I didn't post - you don't know me and i saw lots of ppl telling you how happy they were. I'm sure you know that ppl who didn't write are still happy for you too!

Your question about tickets: I'm sure you can get one way. Try going to www.royalairmoroc.com (the site doesn't always work, but if u get the ticket online, it could be cheaper! I used them 3 times and avoided London and whatnot, since I had a terrible time in London 1st time.) Just an advice, if you find something cheaper, don't forget to mention it here, just in case. (knock on wood)

About customs - I'm a citizen (a few years already). Didn't have problems in JFK but did have a lot of problems in other places fisrst time with Henna on my hands when i was dressed like everybody else (no head coverings or anything like that), so i preffer JFK after that.

Good luck and congrats again!

Middle East and North Africacasa sucks!
This morning my phone rang, it was 'us govm't'. I got scared for a second, lol. It was the immigration person from our Cogress Woman's office (she was out yesterday, so i left a message). I told her what has happened, she said, she'd find out.
I don't know if there's anything I personally can do at this point.
Is there? I thought, it was about 'validity of relationship' since they told him he's lying about seeing me before applying for Tourist's visa. Well, i was wrong, i guess.

Thanks for your replies.

I'm sure someone had a good experience in casablanca, but they just stink. Today was my husband's immigrant visa interview (and they ask to rescedule if you can not keep the appointment, right). But they forgot to tell anybody that the scheduled interview can not be conducted because they still didn't get the answer for denied K-3 visa in February![/b] He came and they just sent him back! What kind of ....... is that? Another stalling method? They called me Mr. in one of the e-mails when i was talking about my husband, i don't know how ppl can know 3 languages and still be so.......

And also they reconfirmed today's interview with me, him and Congress Woman's office. So, what's up with that? and what do i do now besides feeling so screwed up? They should have a sign when ppl ask for papers to get married "beware, ur in for such a long ride that ....... don't bother and go home!"

Yeah, sorry for postisng that. Nobody knows me and nobody will reply anyway. But thanks for reading.

Middle East and North Africa~~~~ Good news anyone? ~~~~~
$0 for car insurance? I couldln't get that even when i didn't have a car for 3 months! I had to pay around $60 comprehensive. Now that i got another car they told me it'll be around $1220 and when i got the bill - it's almost $1400. So, what's my good news? My good news - you are not me! And my car costs me now around $500 a month and it's not even new and not including gasoline. I'm glad you're not me :D
I don't even want to be me!!!!
And it's only insurance for 6 months!

Middle East and North AfricaNot sure where to start
"I just don't feel like they care that I am an actual person, I just feel the stigma of being in love with a man from the Middle East.... feel that I am slowly falling apart. I don't want to end my relationship with my beloved, but is it really fair that we have to endure this?"

You're not alone in this... how would i delicately put it?... it feel like a swamp or a spider web. I feel powerless and feel like giving up very often. But when i look into his eyes (even on web cam) or go there...
What helps is that i go there every six months, when i feel like i'm about to lose my mind. I go there to stop this madness. Then i start missing him even more. :crying: But after FOUR visits it gets a little easier. Not saying that it gets easy, just gets easiER. (Yeah, it's been two years and two months for me. Not since filing, but since meeting him...)

And credit card bills for visits help out too, lol. Now i can't get any crazier - just can not afford it. But i'm at the point when i think, i should just let him go and live his life and stop this madness. Well, you get my point. It's normal what you feel, that's all i'm saying. And it's for you to decide what you want to do. It's hard, somebody said that we should get gold medals after we're done with the process. I think, we should get one for every month we are waiting! And a free trip every two month! I wonder who'd pay?

Good luck Salwa, i hope you get it, God willing! I'm wishing you the best!
And yes, it's crazy that they want proof and everything, but what can we do? The good have to suffer for the bad! I think, that's all we here on VJ are doing... Just do the best you can getting prepared for the interview, organize everything and get even more than you can think of - you need all the proof you can get!
The idea is to get the visa and for you to be with your loved one, right? It's OK that you're worried, but it'll be Ok, God willing!

Watching lots of comedy channel - my life is way too depressing right now! and crosheting (something i've stopped doing for quite a while) but had to get back to when i had a car accident and my car was totalled.I had to use a bus a lot to get to work. And i just don't go to one place and back, it's 2-3 places in one day, so i've made a lot of dish rugs and stuff like that. Beats arguing with ppl who make me hate my life even more and i'll have reminders from that stinky period of my life. Oh yeah, i'm also growing my own tomatoes and peppers in my back yard this year! That's leo's hobbies - to grow sh...

I hope somebody watched Jemmy Kennedy unwashed! It was pretty good. I've also recorded Eddy Murphy raw, still have to finish watching it. They show it late 1am on Saturdays, the uncut stuff with curses and other #######.

Do you have any red flags that you didnt address to the consulate prior to the interview?

yes we have. Stinking age difference. That's all!

Tanya

Tanya,

Don't give up hope. Chiquita, whose petition was originally denied, just had success the second time around after the USCIS reaffirmed their case and her husband went for his second interview.

Have you been in touch with any of the women who have gone through this? They are all extremely nice and gracious about helping others who find themselves in this awful situation.

Rebecca

Thanks Rebecca. I've tried to contact them, i mean, i did. But either couldn't understand the reply or didn't get any from anybody who knows these things and how to win with the consulate. Lots of nice people wrote to me and I've been trying to help others (at least moral support). But still don't know what to do and can't hire a lawyer - i'm so broke now, i'm afraid to even think about it!

Girls and sisters! VJers :help: :help:

Now it's my turn to ask. My praying doesn't seem to be working, at least not for me! The congress woman's office told me today that they found out about 'intent to deny" :crying: :crying: my husband's visa (k-3). I haven't seen any actual papers yet.
Now i'm just supposed to sit and wait for the letter to come in the mail and do something after i get it (appeal)? Don't know it that's going to help. I've been praying and praying like crazy. It only seems to be working when i pray for someone else - i offered to pray together and since last week there's been some good news, thanks God! I still continue to pray for all the good ppl on VJ every day, but afraid now that i'll have to go live to Morocco and leave???my two teenage sons with my ex??? I don't want to do that! :crying: :crying: :crying:

Thank you

August 2004 - met first time in person after chatting for 1.5 month online.
March 2005 - tourist visa denied!
May 2005 - married
February 2006 - K-3 visa - denied! based on some dumb... writting something wrong in my husband's file!
July 2006 - interview - husband was sent home, told him to tell me to find out what's going on with K-3 visa! Didnt' even give any kind of paper with explanation! They can't issue immigrant visa without the k-3!

Middle East and North AfricaGoldenheart Update....
I am sorry for what's going on with your case. I wish you wouldn't have to chose and things would work out for you both. I'm pretty much getting close to the same thing, but i have two teenagers. The NVC or whoever is about to deny his visa (that's what the congress woman's office told me today) and if they deny it and appeal doesn't work - i have to decide too. I hate to even think about this! So, I know how you feel. My sons are 13 and 17 and the 17-year old just decided he wants to come live with us! And i don't know what to tell him just yet, but afraid it'll happen pretty soon. I"m sick and tired of everything and i can't cry anymore, but i still am.

I'm praying every day and i'm at the point of saying 'who cares'.

I just hope it's not going to come to you having to chose - ppl who make us chose should have to do the same and try being in our shoes!

Wish you the best of luck!

Middle East and North AfricaLooking for suggestions!?!?!?

Hi Dorothy,

I didn't get to read all the responses... at work... But just wanted to give you a quick suggestion... I didn't understand if he is driving to work or are u driving him? But however he commutes to work and since it's an hour each way, get him some tapes. There are ESL tapes you can buy (or borrow from the Library) and give him a walkman... so everyday when he is commuting to work and back, he can listen to the tapes. My mom uses tapes and it helps her a lot (she is 62 years old).

And I have to agree with Jean (Just Waiting), he is a big boy and he needs to do somethings on his own and for himself.

I feel for you and I wish you the best. Things would probably get better... and vent away whenever you need to... we're here to listen.

Good luck,

Yasi (F)

Hi Dorothy,

Yasi said it very well. I only have to add this about ESL schools - i went to one and it was pretty good! i was with lots of my own Russian ppl and some Spanish speaking ppl too. The class was a little slow for me, but i wanted to learn! so i did my best and when it became way too slow for me, i asked to be put in more advanced class. It helped a lot! Really!
You just have to 'shop around' find out who's the teachers there and stuff. Cause my teachers were pretty good. Plus i love TV, so i watched it a lot (i started with easy stuff - comedies, like Cosby show). Then i graduated to more difficult stuff. After 12 years i still use Captions that you can easily put on your TV too. Not cause i don't understand, but sometimes i just miss something and when it's something interesting you hate to miss it. I had to read lots of words like that but i've learned a lot, many times i didn't use the dictionary. That's how they taugth us in ESL - no translations. I know it's not easy, but what is in this life?
Just take one day at a time and try to get your husband into a class with lots of young ppl - older ppl tend to slow the learning process down :D (speaking from my own experience).

Good luck

Tanya

Middle East and North AfricaHow do you find your strength?
I'll put my two cents in too. Dont' know if anyone will read it since you started this topic 2 days ago. But here:
1). Take one day at a time! - that's the best one!
2). Pray a lot, which i do.
3). Mint tea and pressure cooker, lol.Mint helps not only for dygestive system, but calms you down a little. I got my pressure cooker after my 2nd visit and some spices. Whenever i miss him - i cook moroccan food and make mint tea - i have lots of mint in my backyard! Mint came with the house, how funny is that?
4). Can't chat with him even once a month, so i call at least once a week.
5). If i can't call him - i have lots of pictures and letters. Read my letters and listen to the audio tape we've made together just talking about stuff and making each other laugh.
6). I read cards if you know what i mean. Where i'm from it's almost a custom. It's my substitute for shrink and anti-depressants. Maybe i'm not so good at this, but it helps even though it's not always true, but who cares, right?
7). Reading VJ posts actually helps but sometimes it does the opposite, lilke this post, lol. But then again, it still helps.

Thank you, guys.

I filed for I-130 in July 2005, for K-3 - last August. He had the dumbest interview this July which didn't lead to anything. So, it's been a year for K-3 already. I'm sorry Yasi it's taking so long. I know it's frustrating and many other words that i can't even write here. I'm in the same boat here, just waiting a little less (13 months since i've filed). Take one day at a time, try to live your life (or pretend for your healt and wellbeing) like it's going as you want it to. My last 'deadline' was to see him by the end of summer, lol. Now i'm waiting till November. I know it's not something you wanted to do - wait, but you will get through and it will be all right, girl! I know it will, and i believe it too; same as for me. OK. I don't remember if i read if you got anyone else 'working' on your case like a Congress person or someone like that. Have you tried that? I know so far it's not helping my case, but who knows? Maybe it'll help.

I keep everyone here on VJ in my prayers, so you're in them too.

I use IDT globalphone (www.idtglobalphone.com - i think) and it's 18cents/min to any line in Morocco. It's the best rate I've found. It's very easy to use and pretty reliable. Let me know if you need any more info on it.
Noura

Thank you Nora. Either I've spent too much time at the computer or that link doesn't work - I tried searching for it - didn't work anyway. Is that a phone card company? If it is, i've seen it before and didn't like their rates. I don't really like phone cards - they are the worst thing ever. You pay money and never know what you'll get.

Thanks anyway. If you find the link, could you send it to me please?
