So I live by that book (a bit), but yesterday, I found it MUCH more effective to disregard Habit #3: Put First Things First. I had 1 very important task that would take a couple of hours to do, and about 10 lesser important tasks that took 10-20 minutes each. According to Habit 3, I should've completed the most important item first. But I KNEW that item would get done, as it was to put together a presentation for this morning. And I knew I'd feel more overwhelmed with 10 items remaining near the end of the day than with 1 item remaining near the end of the day. So I spent 3 straight hours wiping out the 10 lesser important tasks first. It feels SO GOOD to me to check off tasks. And I got the important task done, too, by coming in early this morning to finish.

For those unfamiliar, the 7 habits are:
1) Be proactive
2) Begin with the end in mind
3) Put first things first
4) Think win-win
5) Seek first to understand, then to be understood
6) Synergize
7) Sharpen the saw

Well I am getting the new kitty she is all black and long hair from Mrs Bootsy tomorrow her name is Fudgums ( don't laugh LOL) . I also want to take one of the brothers from the litter but I don't want Hancock the Dagger Master to freak out as they do when they are no longer the alpha male but we shall see ( plus Hubby says no more PUS inna deh house but he is allowing the female) . I cannot resist an all black cat and he is so cute I named him Darkness I want him so bad!

The kitty Costumes are still in the works Mrs Bootsy and I are working on them tonight she is into crafts and does it every year LOL. All I know is I want to see Hancock the Dagger Master in some leather pants rofl.gif

I am too far behind to catch up, work has got me so busy and with all the changes around here I definitely need to act the part! I went to NYC for a training on Tuesday at the Sprint Training facility and it was very impressive. I am working on a presentation for our customers now and have to learn a bunch of new offerings before 4th quarter ends.

Hubby drove up with me and he loves NYC while I was in training he roamed Midtown and had a blast he can't wait to go back with me next week. He didn't want to take pics in Time Square because he didn't want to look like a tourist as he thought he looked like a New Yorker and fit right in LOL. Yall know I was taking pics everywhere haaa cause that's me but he did take a pic with Usain Bolt's cardboard likeness which was too funny I'll post on FB LOL

I am glad to say that it looks like the boys have finally accepted that Damian is here to stay and he is in fact their Stepfather and my Husband. My boys are actually talking to us LOL and starting to act like a real family again. All I can say is praise God because it has been hell for me this year and I just pray that the good vibes continue and we can continue on as a fully meshed family going forward. I know it won't be easy and we all play a part and have to work together but I have faith in US.

Dillon I found the same problem with my step-son. When I was in JA in June we had him for a week. One day we were in the car going to Negril and he was singing Vybz Kartel all day. He already has a problem with his speech so you know singing was wrecking my nerve. My daughters and his dad thought it was funny but I did not. I told him I hope he knows his school work like he knows that song. So I said spelling time. I told him when he gets here its going to really different he will have bed time, reading hour and less TV during the week.


Lady C I believe that reading hour is one of the most important things we as parents can implement for our children. There is too much external stimuli like PS3 Games and TV. When I was younger you couldn't get me to put away my books, these days most children don't even want to read which is so sad. I loved that my son's school makes them read 2 books per months ( novels) and book reports on each as a part of the curriculum and final grade and provide incentives as well. I agree the parents need to take responsibility for their child's education 100%

I know I haven't posted much lately so let me tell you what is going on in my world.

Things have been going pretty good at home with everyone getting along. Every now and then someones feelings get hurt because they aren't getting enough attention but it is a quick fix.

My step-son has been having problems adjusting to school and his school work. He is very far behind in his reading, writing and math skills which came to a shock to me. He is in 4th grade but reading at a 2nd grade level. The school he is in now tested his hearing and come to find out he has some hearing loss and is having problems hearing. He has said that it has been going on for at least a year and the loss is in both ears. His mother thought that there was nothing seriously wrong since he stopped complaining about it. headbonk.gif So we have a long road ahead of us with getting him caught up. He is getting extra help in school and we work with him as much as we can at home and he has a great attitude towards learning.

I was just shocked that his school doesn't do hearing tests like they do here...maybe some of the hearing loss could have been prevented if they did.


Wow Dillon, that is alot to deal with but gratefully they were able to detect in time for your to now act on it. He is lucky to have you as a Stepmom star_smile.gif Maybe its a good time to get his sight tested as well, my son was complaining of headaches in class and I thought it was more of his BS to get to the nurse's office for the afternoon but it wasn't. He actually was sitting too far away from the board and causing him strain and for the 1st time needed a prescription for glasses. The glasses made a huge difference and he needs to wear them in class, for reading and computer use. Glad to hear your stepson is motivated to learn that is awesome, that is half the battle conquered right there good.gif !

I have to finish shopping today for Thankgiving. I got my free turkey last week I still had one in the freezer from earlier in the year so that will be for Kwanzaa. I have to get goat and coconut milk, corn for my cornbread and some more spices Ughh I though I was finished.
