Yes you know my dream is to get to the Motherland I specifically want to go to Ghana now since I am a Nollywood fan LOL but I want to travel the continent girl we chat bout this all night! You know my love for the Motherland runs deep and I have been exposed to Yoruba culture since a pickney, yeah mi knoa mi INTL LOL! I want to send him to Haiti this summer we are going to make a trip I want Hubby to experience the other side of my family's cultureas well. Girl my son will have a heartache when he gets there he just don't know how lucky he is CHO!

They are saying Jersey will get 12-20 inches this weekend WOW! I don't even feel like going to the market or Walmart on all this chaos but I am about to go to the blockbuster LOL. I just hope everything is shut down by Monday as a State of emergency and Snow days for the boys so I don't have to even get up!

GCT slapped on raw foods
Published: Friday | December 18, 2009

Persons shopping for ground produce in Coronation Market, or any other market after January 1, 2010, should walk with their calculators because they will have to pay general consumption tax (GCT) on these items.

A ministry paper tabled by Finance Minister Audley Shaw shows that raw foodstuff, including fresh fruit and vegetables, will attract 17.5 per cent GCT.

Yam, banana, onion, garlic, meat and poultry will also attract GCT come New Year's Day.

And there is no beating the taxman by travelling to the country to buy the produce directly from the farmer.

The ministry paper makes it clear that unprocessed agricultural produce, freshwater fish, forestry cultivation and horticulture supplied directly at the farm gate will also attract GCT.

Some of the items to attract GCT come January 1, 2010

1) Raw food stuff as follows:

a) Fresh fruit and vegetables

b ) Ground provisions

c) Legumes

d) Onion and garlic

e) Meat

f) Poultry

g) Fish

2) Cornmeal

3) Corned beef

4) Pickled mackerel, herring, shad and dried salted fish

5) Canned sardines, herring and mackerel

6) Bread, buns, bullas, biscuit and crackers

7) Sugar

8) Salt

9) Eggs

10) Patties

11) Rolled oats

12) Baking flour

13) Cooking oil

14) Syrup

15) Fish, ####### and noodle soups

16) Animal feeds

17) Sanitary towels and tampons

18) Solar water heaters

19) Activities for which an admission is charged by any cultural or other organisation

20) The supply of sewerage disposal services

21) Services rendered by an undertaker in relation to burial or cremation, including the supply of coffin


Some items which will continue to be exempt from GCT

I hope everyone is doing well. Had a trying week, but all is well. Someone broke in my house yesterday, while Ivan was home. God is good because they didn't take anything and nonone was hurt. I have knowledge cause I've been right where you are. And I research the hell out of everything. I promise you you can make it through all this. Just ride it all out. You have to do what you have to do to survive. No shame in that.

Keep in mind there are a lot of people with credit issues. It's still bad; but it's not the death sentence it used to be.

Think about what else I said above. Those are 2 viable options for you to research.

HI Myra,

They are doing background checks, the process can take 6 months to a year as per the NOA1 and USCIS guidelines. I never had one touch on either submitted application and our case was finally approved in 7 months for CR1. Sis stay calm don't stress, I know you are like easy for you to say LOL but we have been there my wig can been cocked back many a day trust me! Use this time to make sure you gather necessary documentation for your type of case and come to the yardie thread to share your journey and pass the time. Nuh worry yuhself everything happens in the Creator's time frame! star_smile.gif

Yesterday, we started something new: Healthy Wednesdays. Only healthy eating, no vices, and working out. I brought out Wii Fit. It was Steven's first time using it and my first time in 252 days, according to the Balance Board. Getting on there caused me to want Wii Fit Plus, where you can plan a workout better AND have more workouts to do.


I bought the Wii fit plus for a family xmas gift....can't wait until Xmas to open it up and try it.... I really like your idea of Healthy Wednesdays....I think I am gonna try that!!!


We bought one too I love the Wii its fabulous, mi cyaa manage jogging in the cold so it's perfect it's my new best friend! luv.gif

Yesterday was birthday lunch here and after we wraped up the presents we had collected for our adopted family. 15 trash bags full of wrapped boxes plus gift cards. It was very emotional to see them all sitting under the tree. I can't wait to deliver them to my church tomorrow.

It's a family of 6 and the little boy has leukemia. Last year we had this same family.

Had a rough night last night. So, if I am quiet, please excuse me. I'm really trying today. Hoping you girls can cheer me up.

Mstee, the ultrasound went well. Baby is big, they don't measure in inches but rather by due date.
So instead of the 10th she is measuring a due date of the 2nd.

But, I found out yesterday that I need to do a c-section for sure...

Thanks. I had to cuss out my doctor today because he would not refer me to a high risk doctor. I wanted to consult with one due of a miscarriage at 20 weeks and I had my daughter at 26 weeks. I need to know if I have an incompetent cervix or not. Needless to say, I got what I wanted and have an appointment on the 28th.

As you may know, VJ had a brief downtime today. This was caused by a temporary file drive getting full (imagine your hard drive on your computer getting full)! Long story short, the effect was that VisaJourney was not totally offline but the forums were. We have a service that checks the server and alerts me if it is down but in this case it did not due to the unique circumstances. I am taking measures to make sure this does not happen again. Regardless,
