Hey Tee and Philly! Nat was here but I don't see her any more. LOL too about shutting down so Steven doesn't feel attacked again.

I don't know how to quote multiple people. So I'm just rambling.

Oh yea Philly it was just 1 damn valium and I was asking for more saying I was still scared, but they said I was talking different so they knew I was feeling the affects and would be OK. I was really scared and kept waiting for the bad part but it never came and was over in a flash. I agree though anything with the eyes is hard because if you don't like something, like a shot, you just look the other way. Can't do that when the eye is the issue. Also, LOL @ Philly saying she can only handle the lashes near her eyes. I wore them for my wedding and I noticed in my wedding video I did a lot of blinking, so I don't know how you manage them.

Hey Brooke Night Owl

LOL @ you asking for more Valium haaaa I know thats right girl I would be the same way. WOW so it really wasn't that bad huh it was over before you knew it?

Yes see you know what I mean its like you can't look away you're looking at the laser coming right at you ( oh the horror) LOL

Yes girl the only thing I can stand are the lashes and this week I have extra long LOL my lashtician ordering them just for me that's my girl Sue ~

When Hubby saw them he was like    Haaaa I am so extra!

If it was the 1st time having the lashes yes it takes some adjusting but the next time you get them girl you will be a pro!

LMAO yuh so crazy

 I'm sure you won't.

I wish I'd started using it in August instead of September, to truly get a feel for how much was spent before & after my family increased. Steven came in mid-September.

One category went from <$20 spent in September to over $300 spent in January

Groceries ....... PAUSE Steven just came in so I closed mint.com. I don't want him to feel attacked again.

To be continued...

LOL @ pause you just made me LOL Nat

There is one called guilty pleasures... hmmm

I text all day and night. Hate actually talking on the phone.

You have to be awake for Lasix. It's so quick you will be like, that was it? I swear the entire procedure took like 15 mins.

See thats the part, I have a thing about my eyes that's why the contacts are sitting in the case and i wear the glasses at the pc or when reading. The only thing I can manage near my eyes are the lashes, other than that I get all squirmy and rub. I would be the Dr's worst patient :help: I really would love to get it if they come up with a way to let me sleep or sedate me real good

JG yuh must have the unlimited text plan! :star:

LOL That is only $120/month.
And trust me, he would rather her clean than to do it himself, especially since the dishwasher is broken. (Don't get me started on the maintenance men!)

I wish I could get a video tape of the experience, from the point of view of my eye. I am not into blood or guts AT ALL, but I loved seeing the tiny spatulas moving the flap out of the way, then bringing it back & smoothing it across the eye. It was a great experience.

Shhhhiiiitttttt I would think that would be an area you would want to save  120 X 12 = 1440 inna me pocket or contributed to my 401K

oh hell to the no I jus threw up in my mouth thinking about that!!!! :o :help:

*shiver* *squirm*

Ditto!!

OMG, I went to youtube and watched a lasik surgery and I highly doubt I'd want to do it, it seemed painless but very uncomfortable. I went :girlwerewolf2xn: when the flap was lifted off the eye then put back! Amazing I'm telling you...

I'm gonna look now!

Good evening yardies!!

Just wanted to comment on the lasik. My doctor gave me a valium first so maybe for those that are really nervous you could look into that. I agree with everyone else..it was soooo quick and I didn't feel a thing. The whole idea freaks me out so before I did it I didn't want to know any details of how it was actually done. Had I watched the video first I don't think I would have done it either. I'm soo glad I did though. I thini the worst part is paying for it.

Just 1 Valium

hey philly

Hey Mamma WhaGwaan

Or they can get it the hard honest way... work for it! So they learn to be independent, reliable and dedicated!

Hello ladies.

I am here at work tired as I don't know what. I am so ready for this break from school that it isn't even funny. Lots on my plate. Wedding planning, work (with a two hour drive each direction), school, Eric, and trying to fit friends and family in all of that..

Oh well somebody got to do it right.

How is everyone doing? I tried to catch up, but my eyes went crossed. So I will have to just check in every now and then.

Hey Jew I know girl it gets overwhelming sometimes but make sure you are taking time for yourself too
 YAY what date have you set for the wedding?

wedding planning is fun and crazy and like you all have told me minor details are not a reason to stress...thanks everyone for all your support i cant believe we are 23 days away from our day ....

That;s what's up girl, 23 days the countdown is on!

I'm not even tempted to spend $$. Last night, when I went to Mint.com to view our spending trends in various categories over the past 5 months.... Side note: Would you believe Steven wasn't impressed (or captivated) by this feature! .... Well, I reviewed with him the spending trends and talked about areas where "we" could cut back. He didn't say it, but I think he felt like I was picking on him, because those were all areas where he spends.

But truly, there aren't areas where I could cut back much because I don't even have the desire to spend $$ in the first place.

Wow girl well I guess thats reason # 769309 cause when yuh breed that will change

Just curious what are the areas with the highest spending trends.

I'm gonna go on the now and check it out  I'll prolly break it

Nat I wish I didn't have the desire to spend...I have my money spent before I even get it.

Ditto Dills

All right, Nat, I have to ask...........Stephen wants the housekeeper?

Clutch the pearls I was waiting for the question to be posed somehow I knew it would be u LOL

I guess it takes discipline something I don't have. Steve is better than me. Shooooo when I die, I can't take it with me

yuh see it

 @ goat balls comment

Did someone say goat balls YUMMY

Likkle more family... I need to watch some Nollywood tonight with that beautiful man Van Vicker  Yeah mon

IR/CR folks, what does it mean to be finished at NVC?

Case complete ready to be sent to the foreign embassy for scheduling.

Thank you, I'm extremely happy. Well Denton has never been to the movies so I'm planning for us to get dressed and go for a romantic dinner and a movie!

Have fun I hope you're gonna see something scary so can hold on tight to him

So, who here has filed their first joint tax return already?? Anyone do it electronically? I filed yesterday but received a rejection notice because of 2008 prior year information for spouse did not match their records. I finally set everything to zero (like AGI - adj gross inc) & left the rest blank. Going to see what happens now. I'd sure like some money back ASAP!

Hey Ells Yes we filed over the weekend electronically and it was accepted as well. For the digital siggy I created a new pin for him and applied AGI as 0. You will get it girl nuh worry yuh self

Yes Ells I did it on Monday and they accepted it. I didn't enter anything for Hubby so hopefully everything is going to be A-OK

Thanks Philly. I'm taking it easy right now  but I know come Monday I'll be suffering from insomnia.

Tamh please dun stress, the morning of Hubby practically pushed me out the bed run mi innah deh shower and we in there together like sardines cause it was so small
He was so nervous LOL but when we get deh and waited to be interviewed the nervousness subsided. I know you been waiting a long time for this moment so turn that nervousness into nervousness girl you got this! :star:

I really like this My2 he lyrics were beautiful

my dad and i listened to it today .... and thats the one we decided on,..

I knew it , when i heard it I said that's the one!

I could use it in a bad way right now! I'm really looking forward to paying off my credit card & putting money back in my savings accounts. I'm trying to be super disciplined with $$ this month but the temptation is always there. Next week, Michael Rose is playing at a venue near our house & I haven't seen him in years. I might even go alone since hubby doesn't care for 'roots' music. That'll be one less ticket to buy. Then we also have the Bob Marley b-day celebration concert here & Gregory Isaacs, Barrington Levy, Capleton, Cocoa Tea, Tarrus Riley & Sister I-Live are playing. I don't think I can resist that show. And finally, the Chinese New Year parade is at the end of the month & I know we'll make a day of it hanging out in Chinatown & all that's going to cost $$. Why does there always have to be stuff I want to do??

girl why you got me rolling chat bout one less ticket to buy

Things would flow so much smoother.

Ultimately he has always wanted me to be happy....I guess he just needs to see that Michael does this for me.

HI Jamerican,

I thought my response got lost in the shuffle. I truly hope that your son sees that you are happy because ultimately is most important and welcomes Hubby with open arms into the family.

I thought this would have been the case with me and it was anything but, don't want to be a Debbie downer but just being realistic about the situation. Ideally you want it to be positive for the family but just prepare yourself for the negative I wish I did......

Yes if he does pass I will probably regret it that I wasn't there but at the same time I don't want to go without my family. The reason is, if he gets worse I don't know when I would be back. If he gets better than I want to stay for Christmas because who knows how long he will be around. I am thinking of packing the family up and driving out there. They live in Vegas so it would be some trek! Flying would be way to much for 4 people especially at this time of year. This is one of the times it would be nice to work for an airline so you could just go stand-by. LOL

Yes Dens prayer is very powerful!

Good Morning Yardies...
I am asking for your prayers for my Dad. He is in ICU for internal bleeding. He has sorosis of the liver and is actually on the transplant list (not from drinking) and one of the side effects of the disease is that they viens in the esophagus can bust or seep blood. This has happened to him in the past and they were able to stop it by putting bands around them. Well yesterday when he got up he was very light headed and thought he was going to pass out. He went to the restroom and threw up blood and it came out the other way too. They have not been able to stop the bleeding and even put a scope down his throat and could not determine where it is coming from or how to stop it. They cannot stablize his blood pressure either and it was very low like in the 30's.

I know you guys are powerful with your prayers so if you could send some up for my Dad I would appreciate it.

Dillon,

I am praying for your Dad that he recovers quickly I am so sorry to hear this. WE also need you to stay strong as well for the family in the time of crisis. Have faith that he will overcome this.

Philly--It is better for me this way. I can try and keep my mind off of that for a little while. We PASSED the inspection (1st part) so our Boss Major Williams is taking us to lunch. Then I should be on my way home after that. So I can take a nap then get ready to pick up my baby.

That's good keep busy and focused on other things, and yes you will need a nap before picking him up tonight LOL devil.gif

Isn’t that just ridiculous?? My son told me the same thing he doesn’t want me to date anyone he just wants it to be the two of us. Umm excuse me honey but you will be dating in about three years and then two more years after that off to college and you think I’m supposed to sit here an be lonely all that time?? I told him I think that is very selfish of you. He told me not to worry once he graduates he‘s buying a big house so we can live in it together. I told him buy the big house but make no plans of me moving in it unless I’m sick. As soon as all my kids are old enuff to fend for themselves mommas on the first thing smoking.

this is the issue I have with my oldest son, it would be cute if he was under 10 but come on you are 16 UGHHHH. I think its very selfish as well, I know its normal but do we have to go to these extremes..... I had to say an extra long prayer this morning to keep me steady!

Hi all:

I started visiting the website a couple of years ago (2007 sometime). My story may be a little different from most of yours. I came on a student visa from Jamaica back in 2000. Met my husband in 2003 and got married in 2006 and did AOS in 2007. I am now filing for my citizenship which should be completed Feb/March 2010.

I seem to always come by when a new set of ladies are posting. I got in trouble with some of the earlier ladies because I chose to defend my Jamaican brothers from some derogatory comments made by a spurned SO. Long story short, I decided not to come back if that was all that was being posted. I am glad I did take a quick peek a couple of weeks ago because the stories are much more pleasant and happy.

By the way, good morning PhillyFashionista! Hope I got that right.

HI Shermike,

Glad to see you back on the board chime in anytime please. I understand how you may feel in regards to previous comments when you were giving your opinions but that's what this forum is for to share opinions about the journey to help others. WE all agree to disagree at some point and we can definitely learn from you journey which is different form mos on this thread. I hope you choose to come back and become part of our daily banter. Yes we get into some heated and wild discussions but at the end of the day someone has benefited. good.gif

Congrats on your soon to be citizenship kicking.gif that's a fabulous milestone! You can truly assist us when we are at that stage in our journey too star_smile.gif

My son was going through so many issues with school and smellin himself that he would have just used the marriage as an excuse for his behavior so I haven't told him.....but I have to tell him when he returns because my daughter can't hold water---even with a bucket!!! Exactly!!!! The things my son say and do my mom nor dad would neva allow. My son complains about cleaning the kitchen. He tells me its too much. Cha!!! At your age I was damn near cleaning the whole house including washing the windows and blinds and you complain about doing the kitchen and you have a dishwasher to help you? At your age I was the freaking dishwasher!!!! And my mom asks me do I do the dishes sometimes to try and help him out? Hell no. Me buying the dish washing liquid is helping him out. He made me so mad I have band him from using the dishwasher since it’s so hard with it lets see how it is without.

Girl your situation is the same as mine so trust me you know, i need to know why it changes for the next generation. Of course I asked her and gave her examples but she couldn't give me none!

Philly I have the same problem. My oldest calls my mom every time we get into it and then my parents call me and want me to explain. Thy shall respect thy mother and thy father but I’m telling you I have had it with the questioning from my parents. I could see if I was beating the kids like I really want to well I did kind of take off my earrings and fought my oldest like he was a chic in the street but still besides that one time its not like I’m beating him to death. I had to finally stand up to my parents (shaking legs and all ) and tell them that he is MY son and I will punish him way I see fit. Then I turned to my son and told him he can call my parents the Pope and even the president. If you live in my house you will follow my rules!!!!

He is really challenging me lately. He turned 13 and now thinks he has a mortgage with a job.

I think kids are the devil! Just kidding.

Raising kids is hard and there is no right or wrong way to do it. Everyone has different styles.

I have been criticized for how I have raised my kids by some people. They say I am too lenient on them. Why, I ask? Cause my kids (17 year old boy, 14 year old girl) make straight A's? Cause my son is taking his first year of college courses FREE in high school? Cause my son got a job the very day he turned 16? Cause they take/have taken care of their elderly great-grandmother, aunts, grandparents, my little nephew? Cause they show respect to everyone.....even if I have to remind them sometimes? Cause they actually talk to me and ask my opinion on important issues effecting them?

My kids are good kids. How we got here was a struggle sometimes. I didn't want little robots (although they are surprisingly like me in many ways!). I wanted them to have interests and minds and whatever else all their own. I just wanted them respectful, hard working, and loving children. I wanted them safe and secure. I say I have done a fine job.

But, as long as you know YOUR rules and somehow get them to obey them, you can take a different path to get there. You will all find your way.

Thanks JG, luv.gif

aftanoon massive!

when ppl have 2 different ideas about raising children, im not sure what can be done besides trying to find some middleground..

i had this problem even w/ my kids biological dad, he stayed on them, sometimes unnecessarily in my eyes, and my idea was that "they are good kids overall, you don't have to be so strict"

we fought sometimes about it, but not enough to cause a major rift.. well not that issue anyway lol

roger believes i should punish my youngest more than i do, he has mentioned it a few times, "steph needs a whooping" . and in those instances he was right, i don't notice until she is out w/ others.. becuz she is such a smart and mature child, i try to give her the benefit of the doubt, but in the end she is still a child and i can't let her act so dyam grown.. i may not put my hands on her as much as roger would on his kids (HE SAYS) but i am gnna start laying the smack down more often..

good luck finding ur middle ground irie

i'm not a professional in any kind of therapy..i'm talking about kids and behavior..based on my experience with my child and my husband her bilogical dad..i recognized alot of my faults..and he did what he felt was the best thing then and that was to allow me to parent her thinking that would take care of the issue..of course it did not..i'm just saying we cannot dismiss the step parents parenting..we should always give the backing..no one is perfect...and alot of us spoil out kids and we feel no one else has the right to speak to them any kind of way..and that affects a step parent

I totally agree Chiney , its important for us to recognize our faults and individual parent, communicate and stay consistent together.
