Hi Jean and Mohamed! I sure hope and pray that you get that visa this week, inshallah and would be getting the plane ticket by the end of the week, or already flying over!

Jean, don't get depressed, it's always darker before the dawn. Wish you best of luck and to the consulate to wake up and smell the visa being printed!! And give it to Mohamed ASAP!!!

Middle East and North AfricaTiz Friday
I have a tan Honda Civic - not a bad looking or driving car! (I still miss my Nissan Centra though - that was my second car in my life.) Went to get a used car but wanted it with the warranty and stuff, so they've had me at the dealership - big time. It's 2002 but still cost me a pretty penny - that's what I get for not knowing a good mechanic and not having a man around!
Oh well!

NOURA and SAID:Congratulations!

JEAN: your Mohammed will be here soon, inshallah! Yey!

JANINE: I'm used to Moroccans speaking their language around me - i don't mind it at all. But if you need somebody to speak broken English (well, i wasn't born here) - i'm your girl   . I'd love to listen to people speak Moroccan!

Take care everybody

Middle East and North AfricaDo your men feel intimidated because of your success?
No money or success here either, just trying to get by. Yes, I have a car and a house and take care of myself and my kids. I'm not planning to take care of a grown man when he gets here, inshallah. But I don't think, he's planning on that ether - he'd like me to stay home, actually. But that's boring and we'd need two incomes anyway.

Unless he's make tonns of money :D , nah, I doubt that. But who knows?

Middle East and North AfricaThe last Saturday thread of 2006

I woke up to the sound of the heater working. It's set to automatically go from it's night temp of 62 all the way up to 70, starting at 7 a.m. Then at 9 a.m. it shuts itself back down to 62.
Problem is, when I walked downstairs, and under a heater vent, I felt cold air.
Lo and behold, when I looked at the thermostat I found it was a not so toasty 59 degrees. At 7:15.
:crying:
I called the place that installed the furnace cos I know my landlord has a service contract, but the witch on the phone was really rude and insisted that I had to call the landlord and have her call for permission to send a service technician out, even though I never had to do that before.
Oy!!!
So I got to call my landlord at 7:30.
And I'm now freezing. And waiting.

Melly, it's your pilot.
I had the same sh.... 2 months ago. I asked my neighboor, he got it working and showed me how to do it next time (if i don't forget). Hope you're not freezing anymore!

Sorry, I put inshallah everywhere, but last time my hubby said that i'll be his wife in a minute and forgot to add 'inshallah' - it didn't happen. It took almost another week to get that done. So, here: INSHALLAH!

Middle East and North AfricaMuslim woman strip searched
My first trip back from Morocco I had henna on my hands and regular clothes on, long sleeve blouse with the sleeves rolled-up a little. Boy! I got searched everywhere: London and Philly.
It was terrible!!! They got my cell phone, all of my electronics and stuff!!! Even went through my laggage at Philly!
Since then I don't put henna on and don't go thru Philly!

I go thru JFK and then take a van to Philly. Last time I wore a hijab during the flight from Morocco. I got patted down and carry on search at CMN (Moroccan airpoirt) same as before. I wore hijab during the flight but took if off before getting off the plane. I didn't want to be searched again in JFK, so I put the scarf around my neck. I've had more then enough on my first time and if I ever go back, I'll do the same and would recommend everybody to take my advice on this - it's your choice, of cource.

But once burned.... now I know better.

So happy for you both! Mabrook! What a way to start 2007!!! Sorry about the problems at JFK, but that's behind! The main thing is - you are finally together!!! Be happy and forget about that bad experience!
I've had some bad experience myself when coming back from Morocco first time - so I don't go that way anymore, i use a totally different way - that's all!

Welcome to America Mohammed! Wishing you both all the happiness in the world!!! Alhamdulilia, you're together and you deserve it!!!

Middle East and North AfricaWhat if you donnot like your SO's country...
Henia, you got me thinking...

I could say I love Morocco and almost everything Moroccan, that would be true. Now I cook Moroccan, have Moroccan tapes in my car... what else? Planning to re-do my bedroom, so it looks Moroccan at least a little.... Any advice from anybody?

I wouldn't live there, at least not now. But I could adjust to it - it would be like going back in time, way back in time. I used to live that way (similar way) back where i'm from years ago.

But the funny part is - my husband! He constantly tells me that he doesn't like Moroccans (sometimes the word is 'hate'). And yet he keeps telling me, baby, i'm Moroccan!
I know he has his reasons , same as sometimes i'd say, i don't like russians (cause i know what most of them are about). Well, i ended up deffending him, even though he wouldn't even know i'm doing this. Man! I'm a good wife!!! Is there 'pat yourself on the back' smiley?   That's the closest I could get!

Unlike like all the normal people, I have to work 7 days this week and last week too. Was supposed to get new windows installed today, but the rain started early in the morning - no windows...
Hope, it'll get better next week.

Oh, yeah! Got a new kitten - about 4 weeks old, like I needed more  .
Had to get a bottle and cat milk - he can eat canned food and dry food, but he's missing his mommy. My pateint's neighboor son got it somewhere and the neighboor didn't want to keep the kitten. So, I figured, what's one more kitten?

Now my cats are going crazy and still can't accept the tiny baby, who kind of looks like a cute little white mouse - have to take some pictures!
Happy Friday or what's left of it!

hello tanya, yes my fiance is from khemisette... i loved it there it was very beautiful ive been there 2 times so far we had a beautiful ring ceremony the first time i was there....thanks ella

I wouldn't say it's beautiful, but it's pretty nice and small. I think if i went back there i'd be pretty much able to find anything or at least not get lost. I've been to Fes too, but didn't like it too much - hard to breathe in some places and some other stuff.

Firelion

Are you in Kiyah's group?

No, Chi. I'm the one who asked you some questions in June/July and never really got them answered. I'm in nobody's group. I was in some Moroccan group on yahoo for a while, but that's about it. I'm the one who's interview e-mail got to somebody else's mail box from that group.

And my husband's been on AP since February 2006.

Well, Ella. I can't speak about k-1 visa. Basically, we're behind you in filing a couple of month. But the same sh... happened to us. I didn't re-file for K-3, still waiting for somebody to do something. I'm in contact with the Congress Woman's office as well as Senator's office - doesn't help much.

Tried calling DOS - got only 'all representatives are busy, call back again later" after staying on the phone for a while.

In February it'll be a year since 221(g). VISA PROCESS SUCKS!!! ::blink: :( :girlwerewolf2xn:  :clock: :ranting:

It's like what i've heard on the radio another day, a guy was talking about prizes for guessing something and he said, you'd get a Roomba! That's a vacuum cleaner that sucks all by itself! That's what I think about visa process! :ranting: :ranting: :bonk:

Middle East and North Africafood changes
Oh guys! I got sick 2nd time and all the others, but not the 1st time. It was terriiiiiiiiiiible! I didn't like their toilets and oh, man! did i have problems! I got a sence to get some gas medicine though!

After 1st time problems, i was eating bread with olive oil, olives and basically anything. I got the opposite problems. Mohamed of course, said that it's because of the sun - the nausea, and some other pleasant stuff... They blame everything on sun over there!

But i didn't have any problems with Moroccan water, i was just drinking it from the faucet and that was fine.

Because of all of this and 'moroccan shower' with a bucket of water, i was actually very glad to get home and say "HI" to my toilet (maybe, i even said, 'i love you') and shower! Is that too much information? Sorry if it is!

But my remedy for lots of stuff is apple sider vinegar with water (1-2 teaspoons per glass of water) - don't say i'm a doctor, it's not a medical advice. But it helps a lot in case of upset stomack, nausea and some other stuff.

In Morocco they made me some terribly tasting tea and i had to drink it, and then go to Rabat from Khemisset to get starting on paperwork for getting married. That was terrible! I got even sicker!

ONE thing i have to say here, not everybody there washes dishes with water or with dish soap and water. IN one place i caught somebody washing dishes with TIDE! The laundry detergent! I'm sure that was the reason of me getting sick 2nd time. So, it doesn't even have to be the food!

"From what I have seen JP, once the senator gets involved (the ones that are willing to help) things seem to move. Middle East and North AfricaDo you find your job rewarding?
When my patients 'behaving', i like my job. When they're driving me crazy, i'm thinking to at least get certified and get paid more for the same thing. But with overtime and my family situation right now I don't really have time for going to school for a couple of months - planning to, sometime soon. As they said in one of the Jackie Chan cartoons, my name is Low Pay (for now).

The good thing is that my bosses are my patients - i go to their houses. Sometimes it sucks, sometimes it doesn't.

Middle East and North Africaplane tickets
For those who don't like long flights and don't like to pay too much money, going to Morocco is pretty affordable (not at all times) with RAM (RoyalAirMaroc.com). If you're flexible enough, you could find tickets for $689 from JFK to CMN for like Jan 27 coming back a week after. I was also able to find some other dates pretty cheap. Don't pick end of the week and select "within 3 days" option.

If you speak only English, first of all select the language in the top left corner.

They also are supposed to have deals every Wednesday late at night. If I'll go back, I'll go with them again, a little more expensive then others, but a direct non-stop flight, wich is great!

Good luck!
Visa4habibi!FemaleMorocco2007-01-22 22:20:00
Middle East and North AfricaAdvice appreciated.
If you ask to reschedule, they might do it 2 months away from the date it's scheduled - from my experience. If he's not going to have the medical done, i'd think, the interview would be just a waste of time. I could be wrong.

What does he really need for the medical? You have the e-mail for the interview, can't he do the medical with that e-mail? Or there's some forms for the medical? I might sound dumb, but it wasn't me who went for the interview. And when I had the interview, it was over 14 years ago - can't remember much.

Congrats!!! Go CASA, go! Try RAM, they might not be too cheap, but they speak the language and it's a non-stop flight to JFK or somewhere else too. royalairmaroc.com, don't know why I like them so much, but 1st time I've used British Air - I got searched twice - in London and Philly cause of henna on my hands. JFK is much more relaxed, at least for me.

Good luck finding tickets

It's 55 degrees in my br and I just got all new windows for the whole house! Now I have to cover them with plastic and the guy promissed me that I'd feel like I'm in a totally different house! I'm not a morning person either, but not sleeping at night is no fun when you have to get up and go to work, I'll tell you that. I'm like a zombie for about one/one and a half hours from when I get up. And I always make my bed and cover 'mohamed' pillow, and i envy that it gets to stay home. Which is totally crazy. But I guess, we wouldn't be here on VJ with our problems if we weren't at least a bit crazy - to go and meet a guy who knows where and fall in love with him...
I consider that at least a little bit crazy. Don't gang up on me now, girls - I'm just like you!
