I'm in the process of filing the K-1 for my fiance over in Jamaica and needed a little advice from those of you who have already "gone" down this road with the VSC.

My fiance and I only met this summer and spent 10 days together in July. I have two more trips planned for Sept and Nov and was wondering should I wait to send in the I-129 until after those trips or can I send it in now? I'm wondering is it too soon - after only being together a few months - or does it really matter? We have pictures, cell phone receipts, letters, boarding passes, etc. but was wondering would more trips/ time together give our case more substance.

Any advice from you guys who've experienced the process would be helpful! I'm new to the site as you probably figured out by now LOL and was just curious what you guys thought. thanks! unsure.gif unsure.gif

I would send it now if you're ready. Your additional visits will help prove a bona fide ongoing relationship at interview. At the petition stage, you only need to prove you met in person within the two years preceding your filing date. USCIS doesn't evaluate bona fides for K1 petitions. That is left to the Consular officer. Three visits in four months is pretty good evidence. Of course you'll need evidence of communication too.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. Don't get me wrong, a few months is probably not enough time to get to know someone completely. I just figured if I already had what they were looking for, maybe I could file now. I've already completed the Affidavit of support as well. Just waiting to send all of our stuff in. Thanks for your response and wish me luck!

Completing the affidavit of support at this point is just "practice". It isn't needed until asked for at the interview. At that point, the affidavit and supporting documents should be as fresh as practical. In your case, the 2007 tax return will probably be needed.

You don't seem to mind but it irks me that people think they need to give motherly relationship advice. This is a visa support group. Unless a member asks for relationship advice, it's out of line, IMO.

I know thats right. No one can tell you when marriage is a good thing for you. Sure a longer relationship helps to get to know the person better but there are some people who been with their boyfriend or husband for years and still didn't know that person. For example...SNAP. I'm sure that the people on the show thought they knew their SO and would never think that their SO would kill them.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresds230 part 1 question 30..
I had the same problem about the "age of 16" residency. I put the first date when I had my 16th birthday. Apparently, it was wrong. You should put the first date on your 15th birthday. They have a different counting. When you are born, they already consider that as your first year. So, 0-1 yrs. old is your first year, 1-2 years old is your 2nd year, etc... Hope that helps. That's the reason why my papers were delayed!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFinancial Support
My husband never sends me anything and they never asked me during the interview and I got approved. I guess it depends on the circumstances. If you met online, probably they will ask. But if they see you have a good paying job, then that's fine.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE 60 days from mailroom to reviewer!?!?

That's kind of what I figured. I was just too angry to UT*SE. I'm K-1 by the way, sisn't mean to post in K-3.

Better take a chill pill dude. This is a loooonnng process. Don't burn yourself out over stuff you can't control.

I filed back on January 5th (K3) and received an rfe on April 18. I sent it back on the 19th and they haven't "touched" my case since April 24th. and everytime i call, they say i can't call back until June 19th. I'm pulling my Hair out. I feel your pain.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI 864 / support letter

Its not a support either your brother writes. He has to also fill out a I-864 show his tax transcripts and employment letter and show proof of US citizenship or LPR status.

Hello thanks for your reply. My brother is a citizen and works full time in the U.S. as for me I have temporary part time job and also a part time student. I want to go and live with my husband, I hope that would not affect my case as I am planning to leave my part time job.

Thanks.

If the information in your I-864 changes between the time it was first submitted to the time an interview takes place, then an updated one would have to be brought to the interview.

You do not have to be employed at the time and I-864 is filed.  You would either need a joint sponsor (something you have indicated your brother is willing to do) or have sufficient assets.

Thanks for replying.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI 864 / support letter

Hi,

I have filed my I 130 in May 2013 and waiting for the approval. Meanwhile I am planning to visit my husband. Would it effect my I 864 form since I will be leaving my current employment (part time job) and my brother is willing to attach his support letter with the i864 form. I am also a part time student. Do I have to have an employment at the time of filling I 864 and does it effect my case. I am really confused about this unsure.png .

Thanks for your reply. Can my family send my paper work (if my approval arrives while I am with my husband abroad) which I will prepare in adavce or do I have to be physically present in the US. ?

Yes, that is correct.

Thanks for your reply. I was wondering since I haven't got the approval yet (i130) and I am in the process of visting my husband, and meanwhile if his approval arrives while I am  abroad. Can I send my i864 forms from outside the U.S., or do I have to be physically present in the U.S.? I am planning everything in advance, paper work and stuff or can my family (in the U.S.)  mail paper from my behalf ?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresi 864 form filling

I have filled i130,  I am a student and works part time as well. My income is not sufficent to sponsor my husband however, my brother is willing to file i864 as a joint sponsor. He has also filled i130 for his wife and will also file i864 for his wife as well. My brother's income is sufficent to sponsor my husband and his wife as well.

I am confused about filling i864 form. As I am a part time worker, I do require to file i864 form and my brother will be filling i864 form as well but as a joint sponser, correct? Would appreciate if someone would clarify that for me.

Thanks.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresExpedite request email received

It appears that USCIS is acknowledging receipt of your expedite request, and advising you about their future activity regarding your request.

Thank you for your reply. I am hopeful and praying that the request gets approved.

Their just saying, that they received your request, not that it was approved. If it says "Your request for expedite was approved" that's when it's approved.

Thank you and hopefully I hear a good news soon.

Ok I called last Tuesday placing expedite request based on humanitarian and financial bases. I received an email this morning saying that,  "The status of this service request is Your case will be reviewed by an officer.  You should receive a decision or notice of other action within 90 days from the date of this letter.  If you don't receive a response, please contact customer service at the number provided below".

What does this mean? Does it mean approved or not?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRequest for early interview date

Nothing you can do until your casefile is forwarded to the embassy and that won;t happen until you are assigned an interview.

Once your casefile gets to embassy than you can contact them and request an earlier date and depending if they want to accommodate you they may or may not move your date.

Thats all you can do.

When was your case complete? Your timeline isn't filled in. I know I have a few people on interview list for Islamabad that just got July Interviews. I believe Pakistan is done with July,

Have you called NVC to see if they are done scheduling for your Embassy?

Thank you for your reply. I will contact NVC to check schedule for my embassy.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRequest for early interview date

My case is in under review at visa center, everything is done (fees paid, application filled out, and original documents sent in too) I am just waiting for NVC to close the case and send it to Islamabad embassy for interview. I would like my husband to receive an early interview date. Since I am pregnant and my due date is on August 1, 2014. Is this possible what should I do and whom should I contact. Should I call the NVC and request them to give my husband an early interview date. I am really confused at this moment and would like him to be here on my delivery day since this is our first baby.

Middle East and North AfricaAre you bored...

I just realized yesterday that I'm just really bored of the way we have to have a "marriage". We were chatting on MSN yesterday and I found I had really nothing to say. Most of the conversation was him asking me..are you there? And me saying, yes. Then we talked on phone at night as usual and again I had nothing to talk about. He said, we can talk about our feelings for each other. This may sound bad but...yay fun, let's TALK about our feelings...AGAIN. I told him I'd rather show him how I feel than talk about it. I'm just getting really bored and frustrated with talking about feelings. Usually I can't wait to get home to talk to him at night but lately I just haven't been feeling it. I'm all talked out.

Same here - all we talk about I already know. It's been said millions of times. Sometimes I just don't feel like calling and he's not coming to chat with me. I feel like, what's the use? It's frustrating, the whole process and it's taking way too long. I wish we could start living our lives together, but thanks to somebody who doesn't even look at our paperwork and keeps it here - we're stuck....

If he's from Morocco, why do you need to rent? I'm sure he has a lot of relatives over there that you could stay with. If you're not too much into relatives, there's cheaper places than Marakesh. Take for example Meknes. I was there just for a day, but according to Moroccans it is cheaper than Marakesh.

Middle East and North AfricaIR-1/CR1 question
"if the CR-1 application reaches the consulate and you get an interview for that while you're still on AR, I believe you would be issued a CR-1 visa instead of the K-3 (of course, upon completion of the administrative review.) "

I SO WISH IT WAS TRUE!!! No visa was issued, they told my husband that I have to find out what's going on with the K-3 visa and it's still going and going and going.... like in that TV commercial for Energizer Batteries!

They keep telling us that they're waiting for K-3 and it doesn't seem to be moving anywhere. Is there an 'option' to abandon the K-3? I'd love to know how. Thanks

One more thing. I want to go to Morocco too!!!! I wish I could!!!

Middle East and North Africamedical examinations
I'm not too sure I understand what you said about adjasting your status... About another medical examination, i'm positive that you can just get a paper from the doctor's office (you might not even need that) since Casa knows that you just had your tests done. My husband went for another interview in 5!!! months and he didn't need anything - they had papers about his medical exam. But you might want to e-mail or call Casa just to be sure.

Middle East and North AfricaFar Away From You... (((crying)))
Welcome back, Henia. It takes me about two months to get used to being without my husband without missing him as much as right when I come back. You'll be back even before two months are over, so, enjoy American toilets while you can   !
I'm not trying to minimize your pain - i understand it all too well! But there's some things you must have missed from home - for me it was taking a real shower instead of 'Moroccan shower' with a bucket of water and some other things.

Look at it this way, your daughter missed you too and she needs you too! I don't even know if i'll even go again and it's been 6 months already. I'm going crazy over here and don't know when i'll see him again.

And yes, as somebody else said, you're lucky (even thought you might not feel that way now) - you're going back soon! But I understand every word you wrote, and I know it's very hard for you right now.

(((hugs)))

Middle East and North AfricaRoyal Air Maroc's site. what is wrong with it and with RAM?
I went to Morocco already 4 times and 3 out of 4 times used royalairmaroc.com site. I'm not going just yet, just thinking about it for now (i might not even go at all). But I've been trying to get an idea when's the best time to go and the problem is - the site's not working. I can't book or do basically anything there. I've contacted them and nothing's changed.

I've tried other sites, but it seem that there's something wrong with RAM, does anybody know what's going on? I like them because it's the shortest trip and i still have to get to JFK and from Casa to where I'm going. Does anybody know anything?

Thanks,
Tanya

Middle East and North AfricaDoes consulate in Morocco offer DCF?
I know that you have to live in Morocco for 6 months before filing. That's why not many people do DCF. Not sure how it works exactly, once I've heard about 6 months I wasn't interested in that.

Middle East and North AfricaMarriage in Morocco...
In general it takes at least 3 weeks, unless you hire a lawyer or know somebody in police over there. To say 'LOT OF RUNNING' is to say the least!
Every office in Morocco has a 3 hour break, so if you didn't get to finish what you've started in one office - you have to come back after lunch. There's a lot of paperwork involved too and money. Plus you have to get about eight papers from here: like police background check, divorce papers, etc, etc.
If you need a list, I could provide you with a link.

Good luck and wish you a lot of patence, you'll need it!
T.

I still don't get how you did it but my case is a little different - we got the 221(g) in February and the interview for CR-1/IR-1 visa didn't do anything. I've been bugging Congress woman's and Senator's offices but one keeps telling me 'still checking' (whatever they are checking, i'd like to know). Another office gets me some replies from different NVC branches about the status which is not looking too good still.

I don't know what else to do and can't do much - still paying for my trips to Morocco. So, I guess, I'm stuck.

Middle East and North AfricaWhat's the best way...?
I even stopped sending letters to my husband - they get lost somewhere in Morocco. Unless it's a big city... But the cheapest you'd pay from here (Philly) it's $28.50 by USPS. Maybe you could just take the box as your carry on? Don't know with the new rules now...
Call the airline and ask them, they'll tell you what you could do.

Middle East and North AfricaDistractions during salat
Aren't we all naugty by now? Everybody's at work teasing me now, I feel like a nun surrounded by dirty-minded people. Today a guy at the store that's been flirting with me for a while (I didn't give him too many reasons), started describing the tomato I was buying there: 'silky smooth skin' blah, blah, blah.... I came out and felt like crying

I got a letter from senator's office a reply from NVC: "still under investigation" yesterday and cried my eyes out. It's been 'under investigation' for 10 months!!!

Back to distractions, that's mostly my two cats trying to get into the room - can't pray while they're in, tried that, didn't work...
