I had to do a tonne of running around today. I did my drivers test, got my car emmissions tested, and got my Gerogia "tag". The tag office even sent me off tot he police station to get some kind of VIN verifaction form filled out.

Despite all the running around, I had a great day!

Every single person that helped me today was super nice. Even the police officer filling out the form was great. He told me some stories about friends from Canada and did a very passable maritimer accent when relaying their parts of the dialogue. yes.gif The police officer even printed out a booklet of safety information and welcomed me to the city.

Don't you love it when you get to meet face to face with some of your Vj friends? Joe and I just had a lovely lunch with Bermycat (Catherine) and her husband Phil at one of our mutually favourite Indian restaurants, Swapna in North Atlanta. Good food, good conversation, good company - a most enjoyable get together:-). Catherine is just as nice in person as she is on line, too! (VBG!) and Phil is a sweetheart. They also make a great looking couple. Thanks Catherine - we will have to do this again!

It was wonderful meeting the two of you also. The first thing I said to Phil when we were walking to the car is "She's just as nice in person as she is online." yes.gif

My day just got a whole lot better (I was ready to go on a mass strangling of people spree a few minutes ago mad.gif .)
I just got off the phone with USCIS, and they said I can skip removal of conditions and apply for Citizenship now based on military service, and have the fees waived...?! I'm hoping this is correct, but it sounds almost too good to be true....so I think I'll call back and ask a supervisor.
The only reason I'm in such a rush to get my citizenship is it's very hard to advance without it, so I've been trying to find out what the process is once you're in the armed forces. A few people told me you have to wait a year after you join, but the USCIS agent seemed convinced otherwise, so I guess I'll find out soon...

That would be awesome, I really hope it's true for you!

When I was at the gym I had a message from the manager at one of the companies I applied at, and here's the better part: I applied for a customer service job, and he said on the message by reading my resume he feels I'm more qualified for the CSR supervisor job!! Which is good news, I called him back but no answer so I left a message, hopefully he calls me back soon.... I'm nervous because I haven't had an interview in FOREVER my last job I was there almost 8 years! But this is a good start.... And the office is a 10 minute drive from home, not to get ahead of myself though!

Amazing news Jill!! Sounds very promising! Before I went into PR, I worked as a summer student in Customer Service (at a Hydro call centre) and even though some days were a bit bad with mean people, I did love helping people and working in customer service. Good Luck!! I'm sure you'll do fine in an interview.

Thanks! My previous job was CS related, I was there to please the customer, so I know what it takes especially because I've had so much bad CS around, I know how to be good at CS LOL!! I'm a people person and friendly with customers. This place is a mobile Xray company, it goes to places like nursing homes, prison, rehab centres, where the person cannot easily get to a hospital.... So you're making the appts, doing reports, etc. And you would be supervising a team of 5 people.

This kind of thing always makes me laugh.

In one sentence you call poutine a heart attack waiting to happen.

In the next sentence you are pondering eating KFC and buttermilk biscuits laughing.gif

Of course if you eat poutine everyday or KFC, that's unhealthy or whatever. But there's nothing wrong with ANY food in moderation I believe - poutine twice a year, go for it! Indulge yourself once in a while, eat healthy the other times! Nothing wrong with that.
