Ahh had to bump this thread... so I don't know very much about golf or brands but I was trying to call a member to tell him that I found his golf bag which was branded: Titleist.

So when I call him I was telling him the brand and I said.... TITLIST.

Yep. Only I didn't realize what I had said until after the fact and after the awkward silence coming from the other end of the line. Where's the hole where I can crawl into? Someone get me a shovel.

rofl.gif I always see the pros on TV wearing hats that say titleist and always wondered how to pronounce it!

I'm not sure if I'd call either of these my "most embarrassing" moment, but both certainly stick out in my mind.

1. In my Freshman year of high school, I had English class first thing in the morning. High school began at 7:30 AM, so I was always a little groggy. One day I was apparently too tired and I somehow managed to knock myself -- and my desk -- over and onto the floor. The other kids laugh, of course. The teacher walked up to me and said, "Good morning."

2. This took place in Junior High, but one day, in the cafeteria, I had managed to spill spaghetti sauce (or what passed for it) on my shorts. Dropping food on yourself is normally somewhat embarrassing, but when you drop chunky blood-red sauce onto your crotch in Junior High, you're bound for trouble. I raced to the men's bathroom and attempted to wash it off. That didn't work too well and when some other kids came in, they took one look at me and started making "he's having his period" jokes.

You know whats worse than #2? Actually having it and bleeding over the stupid bright yellow chairs they had in class....trying to pretend you sat on a crayon or something.

My most embarassing moment I would say would have to be...One night playing wow...back when Wes wasnt raiding. We would talk on skype. I was raiding but it didn't really require me to have any brain power behind it cuz we had been farming the content for months. Well he and I decided to have a little....fun....and I accidentally hit my bind key for vent as I was crooning at him. I believe the whole guid heard something along the lines of "Oh yeah, take it off sexy man" blush.gif

I just decided to start this thread because I just had one myself... or what is about to be. I don't even know how to change it... I don't even know how to explain it.

I had a few tabs open on facebook, one of Mike's, one his mother, and some others. Anyways I notice you can send a Valentines gift so being the 'O so festive' person I am, I decide to send the THONGS to Mike with a message: "Hey mang you left these at my place" you know I figured it would be funny if all his friends and family saw it and it would insinuate that Mike wears girlie undies.

It was supposed to be a joke right? Wrong. For some stupid unknown reason, maybe its because they have the SAME last name... I SENT IT TO MY FREAKING MOTHER IN LAW!!!!!!

Yep my mother in law will have these just POP out of nowhere up in PUBLIC VIEW ON HER WALL on Valentines saying:

"Hey mang you left these at my place"

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. My husband nearly pissed himself laughing. Hmm perhaps I will just tell her now... like call her tomorrow??

These are the kinds of things that happen to ME! I am cursed. laughing.gif

OMG that is so funny, I hope she has a sense of humour rofl.gif

Oh I had a mother in law embarassing moment the day I moved in here.... so Glen's entire family was here helping unload the truck. I had 30 bins of assorted items, many of them books and stuff. So MIL decided to open each bin, see what it was and place in the room accordingly. So she opens my bin of books and what's the first book on the top of the pile? SEX FOR DUMMIES. Why o why did I pack this right on top? She saw it, looked at me, I looked away, she put the lid back on and put the bin in the bedroom. I swear I went bright red and almost died. First of all because you don't want your MIL to think about you sleeping with her son, and also because she thinks I probably bought that book for myself. Which I didn't, I got it as a joke one birthday from my friends who decided to give sex related presents. Needless to say I was so embarrased and when I told Glen later he laughed his a$$ off.

I don't know how USCIS would find out about one, to be honest. The amount of things on the paperwork, though (parents names and places of birth, whatever else) it feels like they can find out anything, which I know is silly. I'm just not used to showing the government stuff about my life--plus, I don't know if a prenup actually has to be registered with anyone or anything like that? I don't think they have to be like, sent to the government up here or anything, but laws do vary and I dunno. Still learning about this, since it didn't seem important to start thinking about until we had that visa application in the mail! Being engaged didn't feel real, if that makes any sense, until everything was put together to start towards the marrying part of this process.

No worries!! A prenup is done with a lawyer, that is all. It's a private document and the govt is not involved, well unless you get divorced then the courts get involved! But if you choose to get a prenup, it's private and your right to. USCIS would not find out, and even if they did, it's normal nowadays I think for many couples to get a prenup and doesn't mean anything bad.

CanadaPrenuptial Agreements
We don't have one... only because we didn't have many assets upon marriage and that's what it covers, what you had BEFORE marriage not during. I think they're a good idea, honestly. My sister had one because she owned a house when she got married. It doesn't mean you expect your marriage to fail, it means you're being realistic about life. You never know what life can bring you.

I don't see how USCIS would find out? That part is none of their business and doesn't need to be brought up.

I remember when you go for your interview, they call you to the window and ask for all your documents. (I had an accordian file labeled so I'd have everything ready). The affidvavit of support was one of them, and I made a copy for myself too to have on file. Then you go sit back down for a bit while the interviewer is going over your docs, then they call you back for the interview.

I think I applied at a good time, now it does seem things have slown down quite a bit. I hope you get your interview date soon!!

You don't want to know, but RFE is a request for evidence, meaning you didn't send in all that was required. But it this case, I highly doubt you'd get one. You just need it at the interview. USCIS sends you an RFE in the mail and you have to send whatever they are asking for back.

Wow, I had this really creepy guy call me last night at about 10pm in response to my ad on CL. He says that he'll fly my stuff to Tampa for $20 per suitcase "anytime". So I'm like "WHat? Who is this? What do you mean anytime?"

And he's like "Are you going to have someone meet me at the Tampa airport?" And I said, "Wait, so you don't have a specific time you're flying down? This sounds kind of strange.. anytime." The guy had a really raspy voice and a New York accent (which is strange considering that he's supposed to be calling me from Toronto). He sounded like a stereotypical cartoon bad guy! lol So I started questioning him and he was all shifty and trying to avoid my questions, and finally he told me that he works for the airlines (Air Canada) and that he can transport as many suitcases as I want for $20 per piece.

So yeah... there's no way in hell I'm going to let Raspy McBadguy take my suitcases to Tampa and stuff them full of drugs. I want my wedding to be followed by a reception - not jail time.

Good call, yeah that's just super creepy! Side note on CL, last night on ABC world news there was a spot on how CL has just been sued because apparently it's the most popular site to pick up prostitutes, for real!

Thanks guys, I have tried CL and Kijiji... but no one responds. I have tried contacting three different people and no responses. I think they are probably nervous about hauling a stranger's stuff and/or probably are looking for a person to ride along with them vs. just hauling someone's stuff. Or maybe they're just rude and ignore their emails.. So far have not had sucesss with both of those websites.

Either way. I hope that someone on this board is traveling down and has a bit of extra space for my stuff. I wish I had more space in my car! It's amazing how much ####### you collect over the years..

You can sign up online, they will call you to verify info... you have to fax some ID over, it takes a bit just because it's $$ and they want to prevent money laundering and such.... but once you get all set up, it's a breeze! It's free and they have great rates, better than most banks. It does take about 5 days to get from account to account though, so you can't be in a hurry for the $$. But if your fiancee is going to be getting EI, it's a good way to transfer it over.

Bar hair is NASTY.... I believe it's actually throughout most of Canada you can't smoke anymore in bars which is sweet. But anyhoo, have you tried those Yankee Candle car freshners that hang on your rear mirror. They are SO strong (too strong for me in fact) but would kill any scent imaginable. And not only for your car, you could put one in each room or something and it would smell really nice instead of ciggy smoke!

Buffalo is good, but tip: if you're activing your visa on a weekend, or even a weekday get there early!! I went to Queenston Lewiston on a Saturday AM at 5. There was no one there and we were in and out in half an hour. If you go later morning/midday, there are so many shoppers and you have to line up and wait which you don't really want to do when you're super nervous and doing a visa!

Jill- we do cross at Lewiston. I always leave at 3-4am, and hit the bridge by 5am. I've never had more than a few cars. We will likely do it on a week day. Is it open 24 hours? I read somewhere that their office hours are 8,30am.... but then somewhere else I read that Lewiston is 24 hours?

I totally plan on doing it early. I can't believe that they let you cross with all your belongings? I mean at that point, it's a temp visa and you're not married yet? I'm not complaining! smile.gif

I left Oakville at 4:30am on a Sat and got to Lewiston a bit past 5.... 0 cars were there at that hour, 0 people in secondary. It was an awesome time to go, as not only did I have to activate my K1 but had to import my car too! And I went to so much trouble doing up my packing list (I had a 17 foot Uhaul) with SO much furniture and stuff they never even ASKED me what was inside the truck! Like not 1 question. It was a breeze. It really is the best time to go when it's not busy. It is open 24 hours, it has to be. You can cross there 24/7 so secondary is always open.

I actually called today after school, and spoke with a real-live person at the POE where we wanted to go. He said, since there's only 2 CBP officers on staff at any one point (told you this was a small POE) that they can't do paperwork for Visas. <sigh> I asked him, if the number of officers went up in the summer due to the volume of traffic that goes through there. His response was actually funny... he said, "No, not more officers, just more cars."

Where we want to cross is a "Class B" POE and is strictly for basic entry. We have to go to a "Class A" POE. That's where they do the Visas.

Oh, well. I learned something new this evening. wink.gif

And if ya havent recieved ur SSN yet, go and apply at the SSN office. You can download the required form at SSN.gov and bring ur cdn passport with you.

Do I need to apply explicitly for a SSN ?? I thought that if you check off that option in the DS-230 (I think) one would not need to apply for it.

Yup, you still need to apply for an SSN. I really don't know why they give you that option on the form, I checked it too. But no one that I know on here actually GOT an SSN from checking that box. We all had to go in person and apply.

What I suggest is fill out ALL the forms before hand for the AOS/EAD/AP, get the pics taken, etc.. Therefore the day you get married, all you need is the certified copy of your marriage cert. In PA you get the cert back the same day, and the person marrying you has 10 days to file with the state. After 10 days go to the courthouse where you picked up your marriage license and get a cert copy, I think it cost $40 don't remember the exact price. Then you're good to go! I have been waiting almost 3 months for my AP still no sight of it.... sigh....

It does not unfortunately, I believe it's the only provice that doesn't.

WIKEPEDIA:

Quebec

Although as in other jurisdictions a citizen of Quebec may informally use whatever name he or she wants, procedures for formal name change are very strict as Quebec (unlike the rest of Canada) operates under a civil law system. The decision must be authorized by the Director of Civil Status, and requires a valid reason for changing the name, including long-term use of the new name (in the Montreuil case cited below, the Quebec appeals court has considered five years' use to be a sufficient reason), difficulty of use due to spelling or pronunciation, or bearing a name that another person has made infamous.

Only a judge may authorize a name change for a child for reasons of abandonment, deprivation of parental authority, or change in filiation such as adoption.

This has occasionally led to controversy. A lawyer named Micheline Montreuil, a non-operative male-to-female transgendered woman, had to undergo a lengthy process to have her name legally changed. Initially, the director of civil status refused to permit the change on the grounds that a male could not bear a female name. According to Quebec law, Montreuil could not change her record of sex because this requires proof of a completed sex reassignment surgery, which she has not had. On November 1, 1999, the provincial court of appeal ruled that nothing in the law prevented a person who was legally male from legally adopting a woman's name. (Montreuil was initially prevented from changing her name despite this ruling on the grounds that she had not established general use, as normally required for a name change; the Quebec appeals court finally authorized the change on November 7, 2002.)[19]

The Director of Civil Status will amend a Quebec birth certificate if a name change certificate is issued by another province. Some people have used that loophole by moving to another province temporarily in order to get the legal documents.

Well I was married in Canada in Dec and was told I would not take the last name of my husband.

Was it Quebec? Quebec does not allow it.

ARE YOU FROM QUEBEC?

I am from Quebec. Quebec has a law that you cannot take your husband's last name, don't ask me why. Quebec does alot of questionable things laughing.gif but I love it anyway. You can do a google search and find out more, it's on wikepedia too. My father was married in Quebec 10 years ago and his wife had to keep her maiden name. My sister was married there last year and she too cannot change her name.

I'm pretty certain that you're right Jill, only Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto do medical exams now. Cindy- If you're going with a K1 or K3 visa then you would be wise to get the medical done at the same time as your interview when you're there. I mean, either way that's what you'll have to do, unless you can afford to make two trips! The doctor's office was very accomodating when I was there in April 2008. They usually only do appointments on Wednesday mornings though, so hopefully, if you have your interview in Van, it will be on a Tuesday or Thursday!

Opps we are doing the CR-1, interview will be in Montreal, not Vancouver.

Maybe you can do your medical in MTL the same time frame as your interview? Then not have to go to VCR.

Maybe, that would make me so nervous though, that something would go wrong. I guess you get the results all in one day for the Medical?
I'd rather spend the $250 bux and go to Vancouver and get it done in advance.

When you get the NOA2 and subsequent packages - do you not have to mail in anything on the medical in respnonse? Or do you just get the medical and bring it to the interview?

I would do the same, I am a huge worry wart and would want the medical done in advance. You get the medical results in a SEALED envelope that cannot be opened, you'll also get your Xray and vaccination worksheet.... you don't need to mail anything, you carry the sealed envelope with you to the interview (don't need the Xray).
