Oh my, what is it with the American weight curse? I realized I've gained 5 LBS in a little over 4 months. I have NOT changed my eating habits at all, and I have been exercising more in fact here. At home, I was busy with work and didn't work out much but here, not working and all, I go to the gym at least 5 days a week! What is it with this place and weight gain!? mad.gif My clothes all still fit, but some jeans are a tad TOO tight.

ive had the opposite happen, every time i come here i lose weight, i was here for 5 months and lost 15 pounds, went home, gained 20, came back ive been here a month and lost 10 pounds already.

Same here. Ever since arriving in Canada, I've gained weight.

Maybe it's the being married theory... I've heard once you're married, you let your guard down trying to impress your SO, and you relax/eat more and work out less. You snack more, eat out in restaurants more, etc. It's like the freshman 15 but the married 15

I'm a thong wearer... only because honestly, you don't feel them up your bum it's like there not there. And regular panties, they crawl up my bum and you can feel them and I don't want to keep pulling them out. Mind you, I have some "boy short" undies which I wear sometimes. Another thing I like about thongs is that there is no panty line visible.

Like a work shirt, and it's not hot out and you weren't sweaty so the shirt isn't smelly or anything. Can't it be worn at least twice before putting it in the laundry? I'll wear a shirt more than once and I don't think it's dirty. And I'm a clean freak!

I don't think being hairless can cause a YI, well for me anyway. I've been hairless for 5 years and never had one, but my doctor did say one time using scented bubble baths or soaps can cause YI so just to be safe I use unscented everything.

Yeah I couldn't stand letting it grow now either, I couldn't stand it now that I'm used to it. Maybe when I'm older I'll let it all grow out laughing.gif

Gotta love Perez H:

New Jersey Loves A Full Bush!

The Jersey Shore will be going au natural this summer!

The New Jersey Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling is throwing around the idea of banning Brazilian bikini waxes!!!

Why????

Apparently vag and peen wax maintenance has always been illegal in New Jersey, but the Board never enforced the private part waxing law…… until now!

The Board is proposing the new ban after they received complaints from two New Jersey women who were injured while having their hair taken care of down there!

Aestheticians and customers alike are protesting the ban on the Brazilian. "It's a woman's body. If she wants to get it completely waxed then that's up to her, it's her choice to do that, so I don't know why it would be illegal," said one fan of the hairless puss.

To wax or not to wax?

It's still a woman's right to choose!

Ok, I joined the ranks of waxing... after reading this when it started I decided to take the plunge! I have a warm sugaring pot that I use for my eyebrows and knew it would work for a bikini wax..... well after a few glasses of wine, some light headed moment probably from holding my breath before I ripped off the strip I managed to get it to where I wanted it. ... although the results were good, I have some stubbley bits...Any how my question is if it is your first time do you have to do it twice a couple of weeks apart? You can't see anything, it is smooth looking but I can feel a little bristly?? does this make sense? Could it be from breaking the folicle instead of removing it totally from the root? Also, how would one go about giving the remainder a "haircut"? Just scissors to trim?

And my youngest will be devistated if I tell him that there are no Kindersuprise in the States......could be a deal breaker! haha

I've never really waxed myself but if you can feel bristles you didn't get the hair at the root. I guess you didn't yank hard enough. No matter if it's your first time, that shouldn't make a difference.... you could use mini scissors to trim the rest!

Good for you for trying! good.gif

I've eventually settled for trimming. I have a little personal trimmer that gets it down to the 'soft stubble' stage (soft but not particularly visible) and have bravely designated my partner to be the wielder. It's his playground, anyway; why shouldn't he be the groundskeeper?

He's totally game and it ends up, um, leading to interesting things later.

It doesn't matter to me really, I'll just drive the 10 minutes and go to Philly for a wax if need be.

Yeah that's ridiculous!! As long as you go to a registered, professional salon you have NOTHING to worry about! It's perfectly safe. I can't believe NJ did that, and it was a MAN may I add who wanted to pass the ban. What the hell does he know about waxing anyway.

That's the best part about waxing to me, there are no bumps. You may get an occasional ingrown, but I just pluck with tweezers. I hate shaving there because the red bumps are awful. Waxing leaves you a smooth canvas!! LOL

I agree with the above, a trial run is ideal if you've never waxed "down there" before. Why don't you try it out in the next month or so, then it's fully grown back for your wedding if you choose to wax again. I have super sensitive skin (am a redhead and pale) and the wax doesn't bother me, besides the usual redness for a day. Don't be alarmed by any slight puffiness, that is normal!!

This thread brings up a topic that has me a little concerned about the move - this is going to sound ridiculous, but I am worried about finding someone that will do a proper smoothie at a decent price tongue.gif

I have been going to the same person for probably 10 years - she is very thorough and only charges $38. The couple of times that I couldn't get in to see her and NEEDED the work done I called around to other places and found that most would not go near the backdoor. That was a number of years ago though before it was as popular as it is now, so maybe that wont be a problem any more?

And having done a little research, and found mentions of this costing somewhere around $90 in Chicago ohmy.gif

Perhaps my guy would be open to learning how to do this for me? biggrin.gif

Uggghhh tell me about it! The cheapest is in Montreal, like $25 for a full brazilian. The salon in Oakville that I loved because they didn't use strip wax cost around $42, but they did an amazing job. All the salons here I've called around to, charge at least $65 + then you're paying tip on top of that. Since they do such a personal job I always gave 10 bucks tip. I have yet to find a place here I am willing to go to. At least I'm going home in a few weeks, I better make my appt!!

If you want the basic, which is the American one, then I suppose that you could have one, and it would be a little tender and red for awhile, however for the other types, such as Brazilian, French, landing strip, or other such types, I say...WHY???

Total genital hair removal to me is totally wrong. There is a reason why your hair is there, for hygenic reasons.

Hygenic reasons? Are you sure? I always figured that hair was there to keep you warm. What parts of your body lose heat the most? Your head. Your armpits, and your crotch.

Living in the hot humid south, I find that any excess body hair just adds to the summertime sweating. The less sweating down there, the nicer (and cleaner) I tend to be.

(I'm male in case anybody is wondering). Men and women seem to have different pain receptors. Women complain about waxing whereas I don't think it would be that bad. After all I have used a biore nasal strip on my nose in the past. On the other hand, I look at women pulling out facial hair with a tweezer and just cringe at the mere thought of it.

I think I can safely say that periods are overblown. I ate beets for dinner a few nights ago. So I know what you ladies go through. But that's a completely different topic. tongue.gif

BTW, what is the French wax?

People say the hair is there for a reason, but I have yet to find the reason! I just find it gets in the way and is uncomfortable!

I wanted to try that, I just think it's expensive. Mind you, if you spend $50 on waxing every 6 weeks over 5 years that adds up too! A friend of mine had laser on the bikini area, just the bikini though they don't remove everything.

It is expensive, but I tried electrolisis before and it's in the long run cheaper.. and you are right.. waxing added up over years is really just as expensive.

LOVE this thread! So it looks like I'm one of the only ones to go bare!! laughing.gif I first tried it like 5 years ago, one of my best friends does it and told me it looked and felt so good. So I was like why not! I went and really, I'm not shy to strip down. These girls do waxing all day and have seen everything, it's no biggie. You don't have to get all the hair removed with a brazilian, I just chose too. Why you ask? Well, to be frank, it's really good in the bedroom to have a smooth thang!! For many different reasons, but you get my picture, the man usually likes it because there's nothing getting in the way so to speak! And it's just so soft and smooth, I can't describe how soft it is! For like 6 weeks! And then, when it grows back it's thinner and softer hair! And if you are shy, you leave your undies on and they just pull them aside, but I just take them off. And yes, if you like they do you, ahem, rear end!

The pain factor is there - I mean yeah it hurts, but they do it SO fast you barely notice! And there's this new type of wax, instead of strip wax where they put it on and rip it off with a strip, the wax dries on you and it just comes off softly, soooo much better and not much pain!! biggrin.gif well worth it to me, but I understand those who don't want to have someone else tearing wax off their privates and worry about the pain! To each his own! But I love it and can't imagine letting it all grow out now!

CanadaPeople who refer to a father figure as "daddy"
I understand what you guys are saying re: posting personal info here. I would never ask online people, "should I get a divorce" or "is my husband cheating on me?" Of course, I would talk to family and friends. Which leads me to believe, maybe people that spill their entire personal guts out don't have anyone else to talk to? In which case, I kinda feel bad for them! If they have to ask virtual strangers for help instead of real friends and family. That's why I'd never make fun of them, because maybe they have no one else blink.gif

I don't think it's an American thing at all, I know alot of my friends still call their Dad Daddy. I think it just depends on you and your family perhaps! I got used to it because my Mom called her Dad Daddy until the day he died at age 85. It was used in a loving sense, "I love you Daddy".

I speak spanish and english to my dad so it depends on what language I'm using.

In Spanish, which was the only language I spoke until i was 3, I call my dad (Pa), (Papa) or (Daddy-prounced the spanish way which comes out sounding like Da-Di). Because of that, in English I used Dad mostly but Daddy quite a bit at home only.

My father had a rule about only speaking spanish in the house because English and French were taught to us in school and he wanted us to maintain our ancestral language (we are from Spain). I'm glad he did that as I am now tri-lingual.

Personally, I dislike using the term daddy when referring to your significant other. If others like it thats all good. But I would never call my fiance Daddy and I certainly wouldn't refer to him in spanish as others do with the term "PAPI" I HATE that. My fiance is hispanic and he also dislikes the term "PAPI". Many hispanic women call their mates this and they are then called "MAMI" in return. NO THANKS. smile.gif blink.gif

OK that is definitely wierd! I could never call my husband daddy, that's creepy! That is only reserved for my Dad, no one else!

CanadaCan I cash a canadian check in USA?
We use Sovereign Bank in PA and don't have a problem with Canadian cheques. We just make sure to put it in the ATM instead of giving it directly to a teller. It's alot less hassel.

What I've been blown away by is converting my CAD cash into USD. We have to go to a certain branch to do this (still Sovereign), fill out a form, and it took them about 30 minutes to exchange 1 canadian $100 bill...and they charged us a $3.00 fee.

Back home at TD Canada Trust you just swipe your card and away you go....somethings just aren't better in the states.

Her thingy says AOS pending? Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing?

I saw that too, she hasn't updated it, or so it appears. I clicked on her timeline, and she received her 2 year GC back in Dec.
