Yeah i've already done the Canadian taxes - that's a piece of cake! I'm just wondering about U.S. taxes really. So with turbotax Jill - you had Canadian and U.S. income in that year and you found it to be really easy?

Yes I entered my T4 under "other world income" also my EI.... Glen had US income so we entered his W2.... it's a piece of cake because it takes you step by step what to do, it's hard to mess it up. Even if you had income from 3 other countries, you can enter it under other world income. The directions are very detailed

Oh and also with Turbotax, we got the max refund! It didn't gyp us of any $$

My Dad and stepmom both have Nexus, as they travel to the US very frequently for both business and pleasure. It cost $50 back then but the price has been raised to $80 I believe. Valid for 5 years like the passport, and they did have to go for an interview. You get called for an interview after you send in the application.

It's so wierd how you posted that last night, E, as I only read it this morning but thought of it last night. I went out with a group of girlfriends for dinner, we've been friends for over 10 years. I really felt like an outsider looking in, I didn't feel like I "belonged" anymore. They were talking about their recent girls trip to Buffalo shopping, inside jokes, etc. That I wasn't a part of. I didn't join in the convo alot of the time, because I had nothing to add. I felt really left out, not on purpose of course but I don't live here anymore... so I don't participate in daily activities and conversations. When you move, you don't want that to happen, you hope it will stay the same, but nothing stays the same... I feel like slowly, you drift apart from those once close to you and it's really sad. It made me feel sad last night when I got home.

JillAFemaleCanada2009-06-13 15:13:00
Canadamoving question
Hi Inky,

I rented a 17 foot UHAUL, but you can also get a 10 foot one. Drove from Oakville, ON to Philly, PA. It cost around $750 USD plus 2 fuel fill ups.

It's no problem if someone else drives the van, I drove my car and fiancee drove the truck behind me. Just make sure you go first and the van follows right behind you.

You would need to do a simple packing list stating the contents of your vehicle and truck. Also, if you are importing your car will need to go about doing that as well.

It needs to be about a quarter of an inch... yeah you don't want it too long or else they'll have to trim it before they wax and I think that'd be embarrasing. Plus it hurts more the longer it is.

It was painful but a quick pain. I insisted on talking to the girl for a good 20 minutes before allowing her to see my vag... and no I'm normally not that easy but she only had 30 minutes for me.

It took a total of 45 minutes, that included 'getting to know before you before you see my vag' time.

So I feel like I have joined some weird sisterhood... I finally did it. I don't know if I'll do it again.... perhaps I will if I can guarantee the same girl.

Okay, I had to resurrect this thread because I need my ladies to give me some girly info. I was thinking I would surprise hubby and get my first ever down there wax ... maybe not a Brazilian, but a lot off .... well, in my small town, there are no appointments this weekend, everything was booked. So is it an incredibly stupid and potentially dangerous (I am a clutz) idea to wax myself at home? The rational side of me thinks, lord girl don't do it .... but the part of me that just drank a few beers says full speed ahead. I will promise to wait until someone posts here because I really am thinking I need someone to stop me smile.gif BTW, back in my punk college days, when I was bored or buzzed, I would change things about my appearance .... dye my hair, pierce another hole in my ear, etc. Apparently having hubster and kiddolini gone makes me lose a bunch of years in maturity laughing.gif

Ohhh Autumn! I would have to say no to the home waxing... unless you're SUPER brave and good at it.... I have tried and it's SO hard doing it yourself. It's awkward standing up, it's hard ripping it off yourself as opposed to someone else doing it, and the store bought wax isn't nearly as good as salon wax... when I tried it, the wax didn't work, stuck a bit, it was horrible! That is just my own experience though, so if you feel up to it go for it! My personal opinion is wait it out for an opening at the salon smile.gif Especially because you're a wax virgin it may be best to let someone else inflict the pain on you laughing.gif

Arabella,

Thanks for the detailed info. I am 29, and we definitely want children, in about 2 years. I've even considered it now, but we've just married and I sort of want to enjoy married life for a few years, just the 2 of us.... But if it happened we'd welcome it with open arms. I think I'm going to make a gyno appt, obviously I don't want it to effect my chances of getting pregnant so I'd like to discuss it with him.

Also, I really want to be able to stay home with my kid(s). The mat leave here is really ridiculous and I cannot imagine going back to work after 6 weeks or however long it may be. Right now, we are getting by fine on my husband's income so I think I'll be OK to stay at home for a few years after having a baby.

For all you ladies out there.... Have any of you tried alternative methods of birth control, like a diaphram or sponge or anything not hormonal. I have been on the pill quite some time, and my doctor told me today it's been too long and I should really go off it. Too long meaning over 10 years. Unfortunately I have early onset of osteoperosis, which is unusual in someone of my age. He thinks over the years the hormones have been making my bone density go down, along with other things of course. So after this pack I need to stop the pill, and I don't really want to resort to the drugstore alternative, if you know what I mean. If anyone has other suggestions / forms of BC they may use that would be great!

I can't believe I have osteo, I thought that was a grandma disease. He said it's usually in post menopausal women. I am going to be taking a ton of supplements to try and get my bones back to a healthy level.

I'm planning to get an IUD within the next month. I've also been told that I have to get off hormonal birth control but I'm allergic to the spermacides in the sponge and am nervous that I'd screw up with diaphrams. I used to think that you couldn't use an IUD if you hadn't had children but that is no longer true. There are two types of IUD, one uses copper to prevent pregnancy and the other uses progesterone. Almost all of the progesterone remains in the uterus but a very small amount of it does get into the bloodstream. The brands are Paragard and Mirena. I'm going to a gynecologist on March 31st to discuss this further. I can let you know what she says if you like.

You should check with your insurance to see what forms of birth control they cover. Luckily, mine covers IUDs.

~ Catherine

Thanks Catherine! I will check with my insurance company, I never even thought about that part and them possibly covering IUD. Sure, if you don't mind to send me a PM and let me know how it goes for you! Maybe the next step is to go see a gyno.
