A beaver tail!!

Beaver tail? Is that like a bear's claw (a sugar coated pastry with almonds)? LOL

It's like deep fried pastry, sprinkled with a variety of choices.... for example, cinnamon sugar is the traditional BT flavour, it's shaped like a beaver tail!

It reminds me of my childhood, skating on the Rideau Canal and stopping for BT and hot cocoa !!

Having drug "paraphernalia" is a criminal offense I think...but there are a bunch of shops in Ottawa that sell bongs too. I have never seen one here in New Jersey though.

I remember when I was 19 or so and went down to venice beach to buy one. They give you this little bit of tobacco as they sell them as "tobacco attachments" to be legal. Well, on my way back to my car (it was about a mile walk), a police officer pulls up next to me and asks what i've got there. I showed it to him and told him it was for smoking tobacco. He made me demonstrate right then and there. No water or anything. So harsh, my face turned red and I almost puked. The officers got a good laugh tho laughing.gif laughing.gif

But it really wasn't about New Jersey so much as my actual house is here and I like being in my own house. I think every one has their own routines and most get a little wishy-washy after they have been out of them for a couple days.

When I get home to Canada on Thursday night, my goal is to spend as much time with my mum as possible. I've already got Friday, Saturday and Sunday planned without even seeing most of my friends so I'm sure my calender will fill up fast.

Every two years my inlaws bring us all down to Disney World for a week, they have a time share so they use it for a family vacation for all of us, which I do appreciate.

So it came up for this year and last night my husband asked my son if he wanted to go to Disney World and his response was really funny

"No, I have been there twice and I don't really like it, you can go have fun though"

He goes to see his grandma every summer and doesn't want anything to cut into that time either.

I just found it to be a hilarious response because most kids love Disney World. But Ethan hates rides, and hates the heat.

Ethan and I feel the same way!! I went to Disney last year and didn't really enjoy myself.... it was June, bloody hot, too many lines, crowds, yuck. NOT my idea of a vacation! I'm never going back, until I have kids and I have to take them!

I only ever remember one time where I was embarrassed and it was at a Walmart in Barrie. Ethan had this thing for running into the clothes racks and hiding, and one day I thought I lost him. I just stood there trying to call him and he wouldn't listen, they did a code Adam in the store, which means they lock down the store until the child is found. My mother finally found him and as his grandma laughed it off, I wasn't laughing. I picked him up and just wanted to go home. He started freaking out and screaming and I literally had him under my arm walking out of the store. I got up to the check out area and he wiggled out of my arms and I had to just let him carry out his tantrum on the floor. I just stood there while he kicked and screamed. Everyone was staring at me, and they weren't staring with empathy, they were staring in disgust. So I crossed my arms and yelled out... "OH YA I BET ALL YOUR KIDS ARE JUST LITTLE ANGELS HUH!? I BET NONE OF YOU HAVE EVER BEEN THROUGH SOMETHING LIKE THIS RIGHT!?"

Nutty mom in aisle 5... I repeat nutty mom in aisle 5.

My mother came over, picked up Ethan and then grabbed me by the arm to lead me out of the store.

That was the only time I ever remember being super humiliated. Yea I lost my child and now he's freaking out, so I'm not 'mother of the year' Go back to your business and stop staring at me! tongue.gif

OMG!! That would be embarassing!! These are funny stories to tell your children when they are all grown up biggrin.gif

The spanking thing... my parents put me over their knee and spanked me when I was bad, no harm done... I don't think a slap on the ####### is child abuse by any means.

I'm on both sides with this one. I can understand having it for long trips, but I've seen a 2 year old who screams and points at the stupid thing any time they get in the car, even if its just a 5 minute drive! That drives me insane! Since when are parents so afraid to say no to their toddlers???

See, that's the sick thing in my opinion. The pointing and the " I need this mommy" act. laughing.gif I hope when I have children I can stick to my guns and say no. I know I do this with my dogs at the moment laughing.gif
(although there is really no comparison there haha)

I hope so too... my parents told me I was a hellion on wheels as a child. Seriously, I threw the worst tantrums (maybe it's because I'm a redhead LOL). One time in the grocery store checkout I demanded a chocolate bar. My Mom calmly told me no, it's too close to suppertime. I pitched myself on the floor and started convlusing in hysterics, all the other patrons were GLARING at my Mom. I played limp and she couldn't pick me up, she said it was the most horrible thing ever. I feel so bad, I hope I don't get repaid by having hellions myself!
