On the plus side, you can visit back and forth while undergoing the visa process. One of our members; flames9, who has already gone through the process has a pretty good guide in his signature on how to cross the border with ease:

Thanks, I'll check it out. What are the chances of an 'extended' visit after she graduates, before her Visa is approved? I mean, she can't work, but could she come to the U.S. for several weeks, maybe even a few months while it's processing?

As long as she has ties to Canada, won't be a problem. She will need to bring proof that she plans on going back Canada before she gets her visa approved.

Does return airfare (like a roundtrip ticket) count?

Sure does! Also, a letter from her employer if she's working that she's due back on such date, a lease if she has one, etc. those types of things work well

I got my AOS back today with form I797c notice of action notice type rejection notice stapled to the i-485 and the I-765
It says that my check amount was wrong, i sent 1012 and i guess its 1010 i read that wrong somewhere, anyway, when i re send it back in, do i send the same forms with those notices attached to them, or do i have to make brand new copies of everything and re sign everything and all that.

I would just send in the same everything if the cheque was the only thing wrong... Seriously, they should have just kept your two dollars! It will cost you more in postage to send it all back

Thanks for your reply.
I am in Ontario, so there was the holiday, but a 1 day holiday should not slow mail down that significantly.

I did write the Consulate yesterday morning, but I have not heard back yet.

I couldn't track my package online either... even when I received my Visa, Canada Post had no record of it.

Do you live in a province where the Civic Holiday was in effect? Holidays always slow down the mail. I would e-mail Montreal to confirm if/when it was mailed out. Maybe they are just running behind or something

Yes a 1 day holiday shouldn't slow down the mail, but the consulate could have taken a few days to process the visa/mail it out. If your interview was on the 28, and they only popped it in the mail say 3 days later (Friday) and Monday was a holiday, it seems normal. You should have it by next week. When you say 10 days later, you're counting a weekend and holiday so it's not really 10 days yet.

QUOTE (Rhiann @ Aug 12 2009, 07:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This topic is ironic, because I just read something relating to Canadian Immigration in the paper today.

Someone was trying to get a visa for his Chinese wife and she got denied. Apparently he has to wait up to a year for a decision relating to an appeal for the visa.

Just thought it was ironic laughing.gif

I saw a similar article a few weeks ago... it's not as easy as one thinks I guess. It seems really long and drawn out

How about a Gay Bi-Polar cat? lol...i'm serious...I married into one HAHA!

My husbands cat is gay. we joke all the time, but i'm convinced he is! When I first met my husband, I was not a cat person...and I don't think I ever will be, but i've learned to cope lol... after all, he also made a sacrifice of accepting me and all my things I threw into the pot, including my wonderful son...my husband jokes that his cat is like his kid lol...so the least I could do is accept him.

He has a Simese, who is my husbands gay lover...he used to joke, but I never understood it till now... he becomes insanely jealous when the two of us are affectionate. If I cuddle on the couch with my husband...the cat jumps up, squeezes in between us, curls up on him...takes his hind legs and starts pushing me away....if we push him down...he starts running wildly back and forth, jumps up on the back of the couch and starts swatting at my hair like a mad cat...lol...when my husband watches tv lying on the couch...the cat jumps up...sprawls out along side of him, nestles his head on his chest and starts purring... they used to sleep together when he was a bachelor...I put the brakes on that one...he tries to sneak into bed with us....lies next to my husband and pushes all his feet out towards me to keep me away...if we kick him out,,,he starts terrorizing the entire house...opening and slamming cabinets...knocking things over...it's nuts...we get no sleep! So now, at night, we have to lock him in the in-law suite...can you believe this cat has taken over the entire apartment...the couch is his...the table etc...he is crazy...

I tell everyone my husband has a Gay Lover and his name is Mr. Nibbles.... haha!

rofl.gif rofl.gif OMG Poprocks this made me LOL for real.... so funny.... I don't like cats either, I used to but my ex had 2 and they crapped all over my furniture and scratched everything, I couldn't stand it... after he moved out I vowed no more cats ever again in my whole life... but damn that cat sounds so funny!!

Harvey's is just good to me because they have an excellent veggie burger, not many fast food chains do besides Licks that I know of. Also, I love the grilled taste and how you choose the toppings and they do it right in front of you. And the pickles are soooo good.... and they have poutine!

Hey Jill if you're ever in NYC again, you should definitely try the veggie burger at 5 Napkin Burger on 9th Ave. I went last week with a vegetarian and she said the veggie burger was the best she's ever had! I had a taste and it was very very tasty. We couldn't figure out what was in there, but it was a lovely mix of vegetables and nuts and seeds we were guessing.

One thing that I'm really missing right now is salad dressing from Canada. The salad dressing here just isn't the same. I think it's the HFCS. When I'm back in Canada I'm totally stocking up on salad dressing.

Oh I'll be there again for sure, cool! I love veggie burgers that are more like garden burgers, that sounds so good! I'll definitely have to check it out

You're right warlord...Harvey's make awesome burgers! And I like how they let you have as many and whatever condiments on them. I have tons of pickles.

We actually had a Harvey's that was housed with a Swiss Chalet in Saskatoon in the early 80's, that didn't do well and they closed up shop! Then, years later...like 20 years later when Home Depot opened up, they put a Harvey's in their front entrance, weird, but it was nice! Don't know if this was the norm or not...and actually, I've never been to another Home Depot like that since...that had a restaurant in their front entrance. blink.gif

That's really normal now, I've seen lots of Home Depots with a Harvey's inside. Also, many Swiss Chalets are now attached to a Harveys

Yes! I got mine done at the Oakville Detachment right at Bronte and the QEW. I know there is another headquarters at Trafalgar and the QEW. Mine looked pretty official too, it looked like a real "certificate" and it was small in size, like a photo sized
