CanadaBridezilla Update...(I think I'm OK posting this here...)
I follow this blog called Ms. Single Mama. Anyway she is from Ohio and married a man from Quebec, it turned out badly. This is how she described it:

When you Know

by mssinglemama on July 8, 2009

My aunt and I were talking on the phone about my French-Canadian fiance.

We would be getting married in her back yard in just a few days. I was frantically planning the wedding so we could beat an INS deadline to kick him out of the country.

“So, do you have that feeling?” she asked. “You know how people say ‘when you know, you know.’ Do you have it?”

“No, I don’t. It’s not there. Is that bad?”

“Oh, I’m sure it’s fine. You know you want to be with him, right?”

“Yeah. And that’s crazy anyway? It’s all a risk, a leap of faith, how can you just know?”

I was 25-years-old and I was really good at talking myself into things.

After we took our vows we were standing in a dark corner of my aunt’s gorgeous yard, the laughter of my friends and family echoing, me in my wedding dress and him wearing one of my father’s old suits.

It had been a last minute adjustment. My mom had hated his rental tux so she found one of dad’s suits for him to wear. I clung to that for the two years we were together, thinking that it was a sign from my father that we should be together.

But here in the darkness I looked at my new husband and suddenly felt like I’d just jumped off of a cliff with him.

“Well, this is it. We’re in this together now.”

I expected him to hold me tight and tell me how wonderful it would be, something to that effect but we both stood there shuffling our feet not quite sure what to say or do. And it was then that I knew something was off, very off.

If your BIL is having doubts like he is now, that's a sign there is something seriously wrong and he needs to make the right decision before it goes too far

The Wedding is Aug. 2nd so he has 3 weeks.

My Father in Law told him to break up with her completely, enjoy his new condo he bought and all the money he was going to spend on the wedding he should take his friends to Vegas and have a blast. laughing.gif My FIL has a way of putting things.

Jared told him though that some times it's worth it to be miserable right now for a little while because of the break up, then be miserable his whole life because he married someone who has an awful family.

That's such a good point!

I can't believe she stooped as low to trash you on the web, that's pretty sad. Anyway, kudos to your FIL to stick up for you and his son! The whole situation seems to have spiraled out of control, and while it would be difficult beyond belief to end it now, it would be easier and a huge weight lifted off I'm sure. So.... when is the wedding, how long does he have? And will you still go as a guest?

QUOTE (thetreble @ Jul 13 2009, 10:10 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
She has told him that if he calls off the wedding or wants to delay it, they are finished.

That would be for the best

I hate that I have to come back "home" tomorrow. sad.gif

This has been a wonderful ten days with my wife here in D.C.

I know I should be glad that I was in a position to HAVE ten days with my wife...but having to leave her here until I can immigrate is very tough nonetheless.

It also sucks knowing that I'm going home to pack up my apartment over the next two weeks and move (albeit temporarily) back in with my parents. It's very tough when you're thirty and very accustomed to your independence...even if it IS very temporary! Grr.

I did the same thing, moved back in with my Mom for 4.5 months before moving, after living alone for years... look on the bright side!! You'll save money by moving back home, and get to spend quality time with family that you may very well miss once you're gone. Appreciate every moment you have in Canada, because you'll be moving before you know it!!

My fiance was working in that area just two days ago, until his company pulled him and sent him to another job site.

I don't understand people. At all. The shooting in Texas, now this.

What drives a person to that point? Sure, we all have days where we could fling ourselves off a cliff due to stress, etc, but to go out and aim to harm/kill someone else... How do you get there?

It's despicable.

They obviously have serious mental problems/issues.... because someone "normal" just doesn't snap and do stuff like that

I've been so down lately sad.gif physically I mean, not emotionally. I was sick for about a week a few weeks back, a bad cold that had me staying in bed for days. It left me feeling drained and tired, even now. Then on Monday I pulled a muscle in my back lifting a heavy table which I totally shouldn't have. Now I'm in bad pain in my upper back, neck and right shoulder. I have been taking motrin galore and found these great heating pads that stick on your skin, but I hope it gets better soon. I'm 29 going on 79. Oh and the flu hysteria isn't helping my germaphobe problems, which were bad enough before this flu hysteria got bad. My hands are cracked and bleeding from using so much purell sad.gif Someone at work sneezed into the air yesterday without covering their mouths, so close to me I felt the spray. I literally had a near panic attack, couldn't breath freaking out about the germs. People are disgusting. I've been trying desperately to get a flu shot, either one or both but cannot find them anywhere.

I think its because penises aren't like the nicest things to look at... I mean they are, but its not like they get the same attention as breasts... you know what I mean? I mean a guy will stare at a girls chest... but I don't go staring at crotches.

This is hard to explain.

Okay well sometimes I stare at crotches... but its more of a quick glance.. and only if the guy is wearing tight pants...

Not that I find tight pants sexy because I don't... but it's like right there.

This country is so whacked. Sometimes I hear stories, that really make me shake my head. A man in VA was arrested for indecent exposure. The cops busted down his door and arrested him in bed. What did he do, you ask? He was making coffee in his kitchen at 5:30 am in the buff. A lady happened to cross by his lawn (trespassing, I may add) and saw him thru the window. She called the police on him. For being naked in his own house. I guess I would get arrested every day then, as I frequently walk around naked when getting ready, etc. I'm sure I might have walked by a window at some point, sue me. This man was accused of being a perv, pedophile (there was a kid with the lady) and been let go by his work and it is in jail now. All because he made coffee in the nude. mad.gif He had NO CLUE someone could see him in the window, he wasn't even standing against the window

She's not a redhead herself, but pretty much all the rest of my relatives are either blondes or redheads. I believe she was somewhat of a redhead when she was younger, though. Are redheads more prone to NSAID allergies?

I've heard a rumour but I haven't seen any studies. Redheads are known to have problems with anesthetics and if NSAIDS are delivered at theh same time via this method, even if the anesthetic is not part of the dose the body can overreact. I have no way to check on this since the last redhead in my family was my great grandmother.

Older people love Swiss Chalet, I think the prices are pretty good and everyone loves comfort food. Roasted chicken, fries, gravy, pie, etc. Their fries are pretty good though, but I stopped going there when they discontinued their veggie burger on the menu. It was so yummy and every time I took my Granny it gave me an option on the menu. All that was left was perogies, which were pretty good too. But now I go elsewhere, no more SC. grrrrr so our fridge is dying.. I have noticed the last month or two that things are not as cold in there...

we did go fridge sopping last week and found a nice brand new Whirlpool side by side fridge at Best Buy for about 700 bucks.. we applied for credit to get it but we weren't accepted

so now we either have to save up the money or just buy a cheaper fridge off Craigslist or something.. only problem there is that we would have to borrow a truck and then have to deal with loading and unloading the fridge wacko.gif

oh and I checked the temp in the fridge yesterday and it is about 48 degrees and this is with it cranked all the way up blink.gif

we do have a small mini fridge upstairs where I now keep the milk but it is not big enough to keep everything...

oh and it is not worth it to fix this fridge.. I think it is from the 80's tongue.gif ....we got it used from his sister...

Could you possibly put a new fridge on your credit card and pay it off over a few months? That's what we had to do when we needed a new fridge, we couldn't afford it right away so we paid it off the CC. I know that's not ideal, but a fridge is a necessity that's why we did it. We don't put "luxury" items on our CC though

Speaking of doing nice things for others...

Tonight at Ethan's hockey practise this kid on his team was all frazzled about his skates not being sharp. He was upset last week because they weren't sharp, and apparently his parents are never around because they have like 7 kids and are busy. So I tell him to give me his skates and I run over to sharpen them. Well Mike gets all upset about it saying: "Is his parents going to give you $8.00 back for that?"

Umm no, it's $8.00... who cares, his parents are obviously not here to do this and its been an issue since last week.. I don't mind.

It sure made Mike crabby though. He told me he hates that I do stuff like that and that I need to toughen up. laughing.gif

I hear you Jill, i'm not a 'squealer' either laughing.gif

However, take a moment to figure out how long you or your Husband have to work to cover that additional $30 or so. Say it's 2-3 hours. Then decide if you want to work 2-3 hours to help support the new inhabitants downstairs.

Now if you do, more power to you and that's very nice - I don't know that I would.

Oh when you put it that way.... I think I will write a letter! It shouldn't be up to us to pay their share of the water, all those extra showers, laundry loads, toilet flushes, etc. So not cool. It sucks how the bill is split it half, not sure why. The water company sends a bill to the landlord each month since she owns the duplex, then she sends us each a bill of half the cost, I don't think there is anyway to seperate the bill (must come from the same 'line' or something) I'm tired of being Mr. nice guy laughing.gif I'm SURE if the landlord knew this many people would have moved in, she never would have rented to this woman

Our downstairs neighbor is normally a mom and her 14 yr old daughter.... plus their yappy dog. Fine, they are usually quiet besides the damn dog! Anyway, since a few months ago her grown son, his wife, their 3 year old, and newborn baby have moved in.... So that's 6 people in a small, 2 bedroom apartment wacko.gif They are SO LOUD all the time, I guess with that many people in such closed quarters will do that. The toddler runs up and down the hall, shrieking and yelling all the time (this actually shakes the pictures on the wall at times) and the newborn screams alot too. I'm sure the landlord has no clue all these people now live there, as for the first 8 months or so it was just the mom and daughter. So besides the noise factor, there is also the fact that we split the water bill down the middle, only one bill per duplex and we each pay half. So it used to be pretty fair, like 30 or so bucks per month. Ever since the entire family moved in, it's gone up nearly double, which isn't fair because we're using the same amount of water as always, but downstairs is using a ton more because of all the new inhabitants. I don't really want to "squeal" on them, but it's really not fair at all..... If I tell the landlord, they'll know it was me and I don't like to get on people's bad side....

At my old apt, they did the same thing.... if a chain lock was in place, they had the right to remove it to gain access to your unit.... I was never usually home when they came by to fix stuff or show my apt when I was moving out, but usually they just knock once and let themselves in.... It sucks, but to me that was just apt life (i.e. they have the right to come inside your apt when they give you notice, etc.)

I do remember one time they showed my apt without giving me notice, I was at work and when I came home realized they showed it, I was annoyed as I always hid my jewlery box, meds, etc. when there would be people inside.

Kathryn, did they take your 10 year GC at the citizenship interview, is that why you cannot go back to Canada (or I suppose, get back in here).

Of all things to go missing, why can't it ever be bills? Bills always seem to make it and never get lost, don't they
