Ohmygod Nev .... the Rachel cut! laughing.gif So sorry for you smile.gif
When I visited my mom in Florida a couple years ago, she brought me to her "amazing" hairdresser. I asked for choppy short layers. And I walked out with a freaking 80's MULLET!!! She styled my hair like Bon Jovi in his heyday!!! I have never cried so much. In retrospect, I was the youngest person there .... by a good 30 years or so. I should have known she would not be up on modern hairstyles.

My vent: I finally succumbed to Declan's virus. Blah. I hate being sick on the weekend especially, because it is the only time I have to spend with hubby and son. I think I am going to push through it and go to the fair anyway. I am just pissed off though sad.gif

That's so sad Nev..... similar situation as my sister and BIL. I think it's a guy thing, he says he doesn't care either and has a "whatever" attitude. They also wrote him off and have not spoken in over 4 months, and may not ever again. It's soooo sad that parents can be SO selfish over their children, so sad. It troubles my sister to no end but Phil, he's like whatever my parents suck! They also wouldn't talk to his face, it was always snail mail or over the phone

Do all visitors visa applicants require a medical? unsure.gif

Not too sure... I just know these rules really hurt families. I know they are in place for a reason, but the "good ones" don't always get through. My 2 cousins who are born in Venezuela but Canadian citizens moved back to Canada 10 years ago. Their Mom (my aunt) died and their Dad (Venez. citizen) still lived there. Well my cousin got married and wanted more than anything her Dad at her wedding, at least 1 parent. He is a doctor down there, has a good income and applied for a Visa. He proved he had $$, had a return ticket, was NOT planning on staying in Canada. Just wanted to be at his daughter's wedding. Well Canada denied him the Visa, claming his country was too high risk and too many Venezuelans came to Canada on a Visa and claimed refugee status. Needless to say, it caused heartbreak for my cousin. She hasn't seen him in over 5 years as the situation in Caracas where he lives is too troubled to visit and he can't come to Ottawa.

Really? I think the part about her being a social worker and putting herself in this situation is far worse.

There are lots of people in professions that shouldn't be... crooked cops, crappy social workers, etc. Just because you have a "title" doesn't mean you're going to be professional and abide by good values if you're stupid. I kind of wear alot of hats at work. This past week I have been calling members whose accounts are past due. Ever hear a grown man cry over his finances? I did. And there wasn't much I could do about it. Kind of a downer. People don't want to let go of the material stuff. Get rid of the country club membership, get rid of the fancy cars, move to a smaller home.

They don't want to do it though. They are not "accustomed" to live any other way. Sad.

You are born with nothing and you'll die with nothing... What you gain in between is merely an added bonus IMO.

I think the problem is that many, many people live beyond their means. They buy homes, cars, trips that they cannot afford. Something like a club membership is a luxury, and not something to do if you can't afford it!

Ok, so if I am understanding this correctly Sprailenes, someone on facebook made a fake profile and linked to your VJ posts and somehow your family members got access to this person's profile or links?

You know what, when you said that about maybe being a VJ person I thought noooo, but you know what, it wouldn't be the first time someone has directed others here (not saying it's the same person) - I just mean some people really do get their jollies stirring up things I guess.

ohmy.gif Really? What did I miss? unsure.gif

Sprailenes, I know you are angry but let's think of it from another perspective. Everyone, at some point in time, bitches about someone else. Heck, we ###### about our own spouses and kids sometimes. It's natural, and it's a stress relief. If we all kept everything bottled up inside we'd see random people spontaneously exploding all over the place. I'm sure your MIL has bitched about you too. So she'll get over it. As for the person with evil intentions.... some day they'll be found out. And they'll deserve every bit of whatever's coming to them. They have to be really really miserable and inwardly despise themselves to do something so evil and bitter and underhanded as this. It must be a terrible terrible life they lead.

She honestly thinks it's going to be smooth sailing for this guy and her daughter. They're getting married at the club and her mom is footing the entire bill. I don't even want to give out advice because I don't want to get involved.

Even before going through immigration, I knew it wasn't going to be easy. I knew it would take a while and I knew it would be rough seas ahead. When my husband left Canada, my heart broke and all of my friends told me: "Just move down there with him" like it was so simple to do that. I knew it wasn't and I knew that we had to do things properly and legally. I don't know what this woman's daughter is going to do, she's also a server at my work. Oh and she has had three previous weddings at my work that have all been cancelled. Yeaaa good luck with that.

I actually think reading VJ homesick posts well before I moved made me appreciate what I had.... and I took advantage of it before I moved. Made every opportunity to bond with my Mom, spend time with my sister, grab a coffee with friends, as I knew it was coming to an end and would never be the same. When I look back, I don't have any regrets really that I should have spent more time with so and so, because I did the best I could. It was definitely hard leaving, but having a supportive family means everything to me. As my Mom says, I raised you and then let you go! My fiance forgot to lock his car and someone stole my new GPS! ranting33va.gif I thought we lived in a nice quiet neighborhood?! Welcome to the USA Amanda, geez.

I learned to never leave my GPS in the car, even if just running in the store. Thieves will break the window to steal your GPS. Don't leave any valuables in sight actually, not just a GPS. No cell phone, Ipod, etc.

Those 2 are definitely entertaining.... but they make the Hills pretty fun to watch, because it's so stupid and ridiculous
