I just miss her so much rose.gif heart.gif

My fiancee came to Canada to visit me for 2 weeks. After 2 beautiful weeks and so much happiness being together again, today was the day she had to leave to go back home in USA. I drove her back to the airport, we checked in, then we kissed and hugged for about 15 minutes trying to comfort each other and trying not to cry, said goodbye and I came back home, I can still smell her perfume in my apartment, I miss her so much already, god it hurts being apart from my baby crying.gif, god I love her so much smile.gif rose.gif heart.gif

Awwww I feel your pain, I really do.... Whenever I left my sweetie to go home, or he left me, it was like part of my heart was leaving.... I would cry because I missed him so much.... he used to leave me his undershirt that smelled like his cologne and I'd sleep with it until the next visit. Hang in there, because once you're together this pain makes it ALL worth it!

And why is the minimum wage in Pennsylvania only $7.15! And why, why, why! didn't EI tell me they needed a copy of my green-card, instead of just making me wait wait wait until I call them (and then they yell at ME like I'm supposed to know when they requested a copy of my passport and visa, that they really wanted something else?)

As you can see it's been one of those days, you know the kind where you look in your bank account and realize you may not have enough money to make it through the month.

Yea well, when I was a kid I had a total of 12 on me, like it wasn't bad at all. I remember my mom taking me to see the little mermaid on one of the days because they weren't bad at all. Then I got them when I was an adult and that was bad. I had an insane fever, chills, they were EVERYWHERE... and I mean EVERYWHERE! In my mouth and everything, which is why I was in the hospital, I had a hard time breathing and couldn't eat.

That's horrible!! Maybe when you were little it wasn't a full blown case so that's why you got them as an adult.

Really, I didn't know you could get them twice!! My sister's husband got them 2 years ago at the age of 34, it was awful. It looked like horrible adult acne, and he got scars too.

^^ Well it depends. If we can find a nice 1bed thats not too expensive we may do that when his lease is up in Feb of next year (so could be only a couple months) if we cant find something he can afford until I can work, we may have to live there a whole extra year (blech). The smell makes me want to gag and I hate the feel of anything on my feet, plus its so gross. I've been around lots of people who have cats, and I have dogs as well so its not an anti-pet thing, just that he really doesnt take care of the box. When you can smell it walking into the front door and it almost makes you gag its absolutely horrible.

He's not emptying it enough, if it smells that bad. The litter box should be emptied every day, if the poo and pee is sitting there for days it's gonna stink. My only advice for the bathroom is wear flip flops at all times, when you step outta the shower put them on right away!!

^^ that sucks, that cat litter thing would disgust me in the bathroom, especially because I am a germaphobe. And the smell, oh gawd I would be sick. How long will you be living with the roomate until you guys get your own place? I know this isn't viable for everyone, but Glen lived with a roomie for awhile and I didn't move here until their lease was up and we could be on our own. I waited over 4 months from my interview approval to move, just because I didn't want to live with his roomate. He's a nice guy and all, but I think the first year of marriage is hard enough without roomate problems making a situation awkward. The only way around it I guess is ask him to move the litterbox to his room, without anyone asking him directly he'll never know it's annoying to you.

I have seen many young people come in who are dressed neatly and nicely and are ready to apply for a job, they are the ones who get hired. It's the people who don't make the effort who won't get a job.

It just reminds me of those people from Ontario on welfare who would bring in their job search forms for you to sign, they didn't really want the job they just needed to fill their quota of signatures so they could get their cheque.

I agree with that.... first impressions really matter. At my old job, a younger girl came in for an interview for the receptionist position. Well receptionists are generally the first person you see, you want them to look nice. She came for the interview in flip flops, a tank with her bra showing and tattered jeans. UMMMM no matter how well she did in the interview, there was no way she was going to be hired based on that first impression.

The guy next door to us, though, smokes and flicks his cigarette butts on our lawn. It's really starting to annoy me. I'm thinking about picking them up, putting them in a container and leaving them on his front step. He only rents there.

Reading this reminded me of a time when I was younger and our neighbours cat kept doing its doodoo on our lawn. My mother, bless her soul, picked up all the doodoo, put it in a ziploc bag, rang the doorbell of the neighbour and said "I believe this belongs to you".

So I had a job interview yesterday, it went really well. 15 minute drive from home too, which is excellent. So today I got an e-mail from the manager saying they are interested in going further with me, and therefore I need to submit to an online aptitude test. Sure, no problem. I finished it a bit ago, and it made me feel SO DUMB. There were really hard math questions, like algebra and calculus. I never excelled in math in school, and I'm not applying to be a math teacher! I am applying to a customer service job, where little math will be required. There were also these dreaded other questions involving ratios and percentages, just hard ones. Anyway there were multiple choice questions too, like "Have you ever wanted to punch someone in the face" yes or no. "are you an agressive person" yes or no. It took about an hour, and now I'm thinking if I did poorly on the math section they won't consider me anymore. It just sucks because not everyone is goon with numbers but good in many other ways. I did well in University and consider myself average-smart, but no genius. Anyway this test SUCKED!

would anyone ever answer yes to those questions?? ..lol

That's what I was thinking! Like even if I have wanted to punch someone, would I admit that to a prospective employer!?

I had to take this massive test and questionaire to work for the police. They ask questions like "have you ever done drugs". I was honest and just had to explain how, when and how often. I learned later that if you say no to that question, it is like a red flag. It won't disqualify you, but they tend to look a lot more closely at your other answers.

Why is saying no to "have you done drugs" a red flag? Not everyone has tried drugs.

I understand working for the police, there would be more scrutiny. Just the position I applied for, some of this test seemed really irrelevant.

My wife and I went to the movies last night. We had free passes for Star Trek and while the movie was good, we both were decidedly unimpressed. But that's not the point of this vent.

I've complained about this before, but all the damn commercials preceding the trailers are exceedingly annoying. Those are irritating by nature, but when every other word in those commercials is "Canada" or "Canadian" it makes me want to hit someone.

I know I'm in Canada so there will be a greater emphasis on Canada and Canadians. That's fine. I accept that. However, those commercials are annoying with their sole focus on Canada.

This is what it's like: "We're here in this Canadian studio to interview this Canadian actor who filmed a movie in Canada and is now sitting in his Canadian chair while eating his Canadian lunch. Earlier today, he took his Canadian dog for a walk (which made a Canadian ####### on Canadian streets) all of which was in Canada!"

Good God. Was that even necessary? blink.gif

My wife says that doing so educates people on what is Canadian and raises their self-esteem.

Okay, so... in order for Canadians to feel good about themselves, they require getting force-fed annoying pre-trailer commercials (none of which anyone really wants to see, no matter where you live) on material they obviously didn't care enough about to learn on their own.

Wow. That's mind blowing. It really is. If Canadians need something so trivial to boost their self-esteem, there are larger problems at work. As far as people finding out this info, well... if they were interested in it, they would look it up on their own.

Well, I have not been to the movies in Canada in ages, but, I have a hard time believing that your "quoted" section is actually verbatim. So, you lost me there.

And as for the last part, as you plainly stated, it is your wife who says that. And it is not each Canadians individual SELF esteem being raised, but is the esteem of our country to know that not everything movie related, as commonly perceived, comes from Hollywood.

But alas, it is your wifes views anyways.

Of course that isn't verbatim. wacko.gif

I was giving an example of how ludicrous the whole thing is, that's all.

And as I said, if Canada's self-esteem hinges on pre-trailer commercial information, there are far greater and more important issues to deal with.

Ludicrous in your opinion, I don't think it is at all. I think it's more ludicrous to state "Canada's self esteem hinges or pre-trailer commercial information" that statement is laughable. I know you said "IF" it does so it may not necessarily be your opinion but that's silly

Anyway, you're speaking to a bunch of Canadians so I don't think you're going to get any sympathy on this vent laughing.gif

Oh and I know you're going to say you're not looking for sympathy you're just venting but just sayin' tongue.gif

I called the automated line and used my receipt number and it says that they ordered production of my card on May 21, 2009, which was YESTERDAY! It's so strange that they ordered production over a month after they sent my welcome letter. Who knows. I just want to get it sooner rather than later! smile.gif

Well there ya go, good news!! You should have it in the next week! Maybe they're really backlogged or something wacko.gif

Thanks Jill, yeah I'm going to give them a call. I don't think I can call until Tuesday now though huh? The reason I waited is because it says it can take up to 30 days to receive it so, I was waiting patiently. Thank goodness I've got my EAD for now though! ~sighs~ So silly! Now I need to go hunting for the phone number!

I have my welcome letter right here, it says "please call us at 1-800-375-5283 if any of the information above is incorect, if you move, or if you don't receive your card within the next 3 weeks"

If you call it says to have your A# and the receipt number available.... I would assume they are closed on Monday.

Yes at least you have your EAD to start your job!!

STILLL nothing??? I just can't believe you still haven't heard from her!

Yep.. my guess is that she chose someone else for the apt, but doesn't want to turn us away until she has a signed lease in her hand.. or there were extenuating circumstances why she couldn't call us today.. I have no idea.. it's all so strange, and I'm frustrated.. our current landlord wants to know our plans.. so we NEED to know.. hubby's going to call her again tomorrow.

This type of thing really bugs me... if someone says they will call to let you know something, stick to your word. I had a job interview over 3 weeks ago, and the guy said "oh I'll know by Friday (3 days) and will call you either way". He didn't call for 3 weeks to say I didn't get the job, it really irritated me. Don't say you're going to call in 3 days then call 3 weeks later. I just wanted to know, I was sitting here every day wondering if he'd call.

I'm not sure if this is normal, but I got my greencard approval notice quite awhile ago, like 3 weeks at least I think. I haven't gotten my actual card in the mail yet though. I'm a little concerned. Should I be? Should I call USCIS? Are they going to make me pay for a new one?

Oh I just mentioned that to you in the other thread.... yes it's unusual that you recd your welcome letter a month ago and not your GC yet... the welcome letter says it should be recd within 3 weeks, and I got mine 2 days after the welcome letter.... I would call, as I have read on here people have called and USCIS told them the post office sent it back or something. If it got lost in the mail, they would probably make you pay for a new one sad.gif

Did she ask for references? Maybe she's taking her time and checking references

no.. she didn't she said there would be checks (the rental is for June 15th), but she didn't ask us for stuff.. but she did invite us into her home and we sat in the living room and chatted about the neighborhood for awhile... man.. this sucks.

I don't even know why I asked if he is single, I guess I was thinking how he would sell himself, ohh I am a single guy, just work, hardly ever home blah blah.

But I know you and your Husband are a nice couple - so I can't see how she wouldn't see that!

Or it could be a female lawyer tongue.gif

Yea besides the whole health care bit it isn't bad here. The only bad thing is I think that people stir up more drama than needed at times, but for the most part its a good place.

I find if you just stay clear of drama things are just better, I hear them sometimes talk about others and I don't get it. I just prefer not to get caught up in it all.

I used to allow myself to get caught up in work drama and it just makes for an unpleasant experience. You tend to take work drama home too and dwell on it. I think many people here dwell on silly things and end up forgetting about the big picture.

The drama and cattiness at my old job was so much, I ate lunch at my desk every day. I refused to sit in the lunch room, around catty women gossiping about others in the office. I just wouldn't participate, I found it really pathetic. So I would get my lunch, and eat/read at my desk instead!

I just watched my boss leave the meeting crying. I'm meeting at 3:00. I guess she's super upset and I don't think her drugs are covered at all.

She left the building. sad.gif ####### I hope she comes back. sad.gif

Oh damn, that's awful. I feel so bad for her. Damn companies, it's always about the bottom line

No, everyone knows it isn't going to benefit us. My boss just got over breast cancer and has medications that cost her 700.00 a month. She basically says she has two months and then has to pay 1000.00 and then the plan kicks in. She's a single mom, she doesn't have 1000.00 laying around.

It isn't my bosses who decide this, its actually our members, the board of directors. I would like to ask the president of the board if he would like this plan for himself and his family. Buuut I don't think that would go over well. tongue.gif

Our last plan was going up... apparently this is common right now. My husbands insurance was just raised too and they had to drop his eye care. ####### happens... or rather ####### is happening.

I love how the people from Aetna are here though acting like it benefits us. laughing.gif I can't wait for my turn to meet with them. Do I look like I was born yesterday???

That's really horrible! We have Aetna too, and as of now it's a really superb plan....
