That is super ridiculous Jill. Now they are going to lose some great tenants because of their lame rules.

I think its unfair that one tenant can have a dog and another can't. I know in Ontario a landlord can't technically tell you that you can't have a pet. Sure they can write it in, but if you get a pet that isn't reason enough to evict you.

I thought that too.... I did check the lease though and it says no pets, so I don't know if we could fight that since we signed it. I wish I knew about this stuff before I moved in, but it's too late now. I would have definitely wanted to move elsewhere.

I'm a little grumpy this morning, if some of you recall we wanted to get a pup and couldn't, the condo board was going to vote on it. This morning our landlord e-mailed us back:

"Hi Jill & Glen, Unfortunately I couldn't get the dog rule modified for me to allow a dog in each unit. In fact they are tightening up on the dog rules. You will probably see letters from management over the next few months. "

I just think it's effing ridic that we can't get a little 10 pound dog. WHAT is he going to do. WHY is one allowed per duplex and not two. What kind of people are on this board that make these bloody rules that don't make sense. And WHY are they making the rules even tighter, this place sucks. I want to move when our lease is up in November because I don't want our lives to be governed by these people. It's not just the dog thing, it's the principle.

We spend birthdays over there, have dinners over there, my husband was there last week. We were there a few weeks ago for dinner. My mom was here two weeks ago so last weekend he didn't call home. We were busy.

I don't know what she expects. We're married. We're kind of living our lives. It just doesn't help when she adds this drama in on in there.

She's just high maintenance.

That sounds so much like my brother in law's parents.... he is an only child, and if he doesn't call like 3 times a week they get SO UPSET. They don't know how to e-mail but they'll call and blame my sister.... they think she's telling him not to call or something. Ummm well your son is a grown 36 year old man, he can figure out how to get in touch with his parents himself. And god forbid if he spends any holiday with our side of the family, they literally won't speak to him for weeks. It's gotten so bad now that my sister doesn't answer the phone when they call and they haven't spoken to her since September, they said ever since he got married they don't talk as much. HELLO he's married now, things change in life when you're married, they should accept that. You have your own life and own family, things change.

About the female boss thing, we are just stating facts from our own perspective. Obviously there are nice female bosses out there, but personally the ones I have had have been horrible and the men good. That is just a personal opinion that others seem to share based on their experiences. But there's nothing wrong I don't think with stating our personal experiences with female bosses. It's not stereotyping it's fact that the two I had were terrible.

And we don't get to use those touch pads that they'd hand to us in Canada. I just give them my debit card and they scan it and voila! All done!

BUT in Canada if I try to use my debit card, they see the "VISA" logo and when I scan it myself as a debit card they ALWAYS take it from me and go: "OH its a credit card" Even though it's not. I try to explain it but I find it doesn't go anywhere.

Oh and I notice that they don't call bank machines ATM's around here. So many times I ask someone where an ATM is and they look at me like I have 3 heads. They call it a mac machine. laughing.gif

I totally agree with that, my debit card says Visa on it too and when Glen came to visit me in Canada he'd try and use it as debit which never worked with the stores. And I'd never heard of mac machine until I moved here!

Unfortunately its the same in our store. We have been told its illegal for us to take cards that dont have a signature. You can't sign it in front of us, we can't take it if you do. We also can't take the SEE ID ones because they are not valid signatures, even if we see your DL which has your signature imbedded into it. Im not sure if its the merchant agreement with our payment company or what but they are sticklers.

Well lucky I haven't had any troubles yet. If someone didn't take it I'd just say: "Your loss" and walk out and go to the next place. tongue.gif

When I have to sign on one of those digital pads at stores, I draw a happy face... and no one ever says anything! However I should add that I come from an area where customer service isn't really a priority... half the time I am checking out of a store the clerk is on their phone texting away.

They said sorry, call your insurance. Which I did, and they let me fill it afterwards, but it's just a pain in the bum. I wonder why they don't let you do 3 months at a time here.

Try MedCo.com! They do 3 month prescriptions. If your Dr. only gives you a 1 mointh script, ask for a 3-month if it is a "maintenance" script. You can even take care of the refill online. They're really great and take most (if not all) insurance programs. I used to use them when I lived in AZ. But, the script I get now automatically comes as a 3-month, so there's no advantage.

Maybe this will work for you, Jill!
