Every time it rains like that I'm reminded that our two stray cats would have been outside in it if we didn't have them.

I went to my doctor yesterday and he asked if I drank a lot of coffee. When I told him that I had a cup of tea every morning, he laughed at me. Phil laughs at me because the tea I drink plus several of the things I brought with me from Bermuda have the Queen's seal on them. It's not like searched for a hairbrush with it. It's a good quality hairbrush for a reasonable price.

There's a song at work."walk 500 miles" or something like that. I don't know who sings it, but I'm almost positive there is a line that says..

"I'll be the man that upsets cows".... blink.gif

Now I know that's not right, but it sure sounds like it! laughing.gif

That's got to be "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by The Proclaimers. But I can't imagine anywhere where it says, or even sounds like, being the man that upsets cows. laughing.gif

So..... we've had our trip to Vancouver and Seattle all booked since April, blah blah blah. Well, my husband's employer has scheduled him for a business trip to Denver during the last week of our vacation. blink.gif So now he's going to be leaving early and flying there, then he'll meet me at the Orlando airport when I fly back from Vancouver. Alone. Like all family vacations turn out. blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif

I think the line is something like *hee hee, you'd think I'd know it, because I hear it at work lots*...

I be the man to walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more...
*then the line about upsetting cows*....laughing.gif

I really could google it. I'm just lazy... blush.gif

Um...makes him work when he's away from home? Like no one else can go to Denver?? Sheesh!! He doesn't have a choice in the matter? I'm so sorry. Maybe something can get worked out.

My fiance will have to walk around with a new bride and her major roots! You need to choose your hairdresser like you'd choose a babysitter. Seriously walk in and talk to them and get to know your stylist.

Moving to Philly, my friend is a stylist in the city at a top notch salon, I'll ask her for some names for you. It's all about finding someone you're comfortable with and shopping around. smile.gif

LOL!!! No, they aren't doctors, they just play them on the OT.

Some of OT amuses me, but mental health is something that I am passionate about and it drives me nuts to read inaccurate information.

I find it really annoying as well. The funniest thing I ever responded to was a thread about sexual offenders, watching porn etc. That was my area of expertise, and someone who kept responding and challenging me was someone who wasn't a sex offender, but who has/had mental health issues. Just as annoying in my opinion. Anyway, I found I was spending way too much time responding to that thread. I thought I was imparting some information that the OP might find useful, well, anyone reading that thread my find useful. The other person challenged my information. I suggested they look on-line and find studies...I certainly didn't have time to quote sources of research for them to look into. They came back to the thread saying they did googled and there was little if any information and the things they read basically said I was full of #######. laughing.gif I ended up just leaving that thread and it died soon after. Sometimes I get so aggravated I have to reply, then I regret it.

I hear you autumnchik, and know where you're coming from. When I read some things like this in OT, I think of you! Don't you just think though that even if it helps ONE person it's worth it? I don't know....

Carla when I first read your post, I thought you said watching porn was your area of expertise laughing.gif Then I re-read what you said!! My vent is that I am getting SO impatient for my AP and EAD to be approved. I applied in December and many other December filers, almost all of them have been approved and received their AP/EAD. I feel like they forgot about me. My family keeps asking me when I'm coming home, and no one understands this process. Hi, any ideas, I'm worried, I plan to drive from Canada to the US with my Fiance and his sister and spend a month with him over Christmas. His sister and him are driving up for the weekend and we are all going back together. Then I'm flying back to Australia, then we are applying for the K1. I want to tell the truth at the boarder, "I'm spending Christmas with my Fiance " I'm worried because I will have a lot of bags (4 suitcases) because I'm moving home, but I will have my flight home and I can print an email from my old employer offering me my job in Australia back. Will this be enough? what should I do at the boarder? Any advise? S.

A return ticket is good proof, as is a job offer.... how about a lease or mortage in Australia? The best advice I can give is be honest, do say you are visiting your fiance for 1 month, since that is the truth. Give specific dates, let them know when you're leaving, etc.

eh? You don't even make sense. It's like me saying that Asian people should have preferential treatment in the immigration process because they are more intelligent than other groups of people in the world. Do you understand how that is a prejudice?

I don't think you do and that's sad. It really is. You know why? Because you aren't speaking for any one here but yourself, and certainly not for your nationality either. No one is going to agree with you on this one, no matter what you say, because even from a FACTS point of view, you are still completely wrong. There are plenty of people in Canada on government assistance, and plenty of them will meet an American and want to immigrate to the US. Not every one comes from a middle class family in Canada. Not every one is well off.

I am in NO way saying that any country should get fast-tracked through the system, but do keep in mind that folks from Canada already have preferential treatment in the way their "automatic" visitor visa works. There are all types of specialized laws to all parts of America, whether we're talking visitor visas or celebrity justice or whatever. I remember for the Winter Olympics the Canadian skater was moved ahead of a ton of people so that she'd have her status here and be eligible to skate for the US Olympic Team, and I also remember being uber angry about that as well.

I'm not supporting the actual agrument but just showing that there is preferential treatment given all the time. I even remember when Efgeni Malkin got a visa to play for the Penguins in a matter of weeks and I can guarantee that doesn't happen for most people.

I also won't even get started on the horrors of welfare or anything like that as I currently know a 25 year old girl that quit her job 8 months ago and is making enough money through unemployment to afford a house and brag to people about how she has time off wacko.gif

True, but that's working visas which is a whole other ball game. Celebrities and athletes get visas really quickly, yes but nothing to do with family immigration.

"Fast-track for certain coutries...definitely....Canada anyone? We're just friendly neighbours to the north.....no harm done...."

I disagree with this statement. Why should we as Canadians get any preferential treatment of say, a fiancee from Great Britian or India? Just because we are right to the north we should be fast tracked? That's not fair at all. Canada is another country just like China or Australia and should be treated the same as any other country. How do you determine "certain countries"? That would be discrimination I think. Allowing "some" countries preferential treatment over others.

But how does the government differentiate between "fraud couples" and "genuine loving couples"? After all, you only have to prove that you met your fiancee once within the past 2 years. Which isn't much, in my opinion. "Fraud couples" can submit evidence just as you and I did, go to the interview claiming to be in love. There is no good way to tell that one is going to commit fraud. You just have to prove you have a relationship and you intend to marry.

I think it's scary for the millions of Americans without insurance. For example, I just got a bill in the mail yesterday for some blood work I had done a few weeks ago. The total before insurance was $701.57 for routine blood work!! After insurance I owe $18.01. Can you imagine someone without insurance needing blood tests and having to pay over $700?! That's insane. It's really scary to think if you have a heart attack and need an emergency bypass, how many years you'll be paying off the debt without insurance.

A few months ago, when my husband was in fear of being laid off, we were both most worried about having no insurance. I think Americans have a fear of the unknown, and since they don't know or understand what Obama is trying to implement, they are automatically against it.

Are you kidding me Jill? I work in Med Lab, and we have a charging system for out of country, quebec residents, etc, and annual routine blood work generally wouldnt run anymore than 200 dollars CANADIAN...thats ridiculous. I kid you not; and it is insane! It even breaks it down, for example T-3 (thyroid) cost $215.00, Cholesterol was $28.90, Vitamin D-3 cost $175.00, etc it goes down the list and the total is $701.57 wacko.gif

THANK YOU SO MUCH wink.gif
AND DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH TIME DE WE HAVE TO SEND BACK THE PACK 3 ? IT'S BEEN 2 WEEKS THAT I RECEIVED IT, CAN I TAKE ONE OR TWO MORE WEEKS?? OR WHAT

Yes, you can take a few weeks more, it's no rush really. The longer you take to send it back, the longer it takes for an interview, that's all

I SEND THE CHECKLIST NOW? DO I CHECK THE MEDICAL EXAM EVEN IF IT'S NOT DONE YET? AND MAKE SURE IT'S DONE BEFORE THE INTERVIEW??
THAT'S WHAT U'RE SAYING?

Yes. Check medical if it's not done, and be sure it's done by the interview date

CanadaWeird Things Americans Have Said To/Asked Me
Well I've been experiencing some funny comments/questions since starting my job... For example, someone asked me what kind of car I drove... I replied a Mazda... She said "OH they have Mazdas in Canada!? I thought you had Canadian cars" Yes, our cars are horse and buggy!! wacko.gif Of course other ridiculous comments that make me laugh out loud or shake my head
