Happy Wedding day Minnew!! I'm sure everything will go great!

We're back!! *Whew* we went on a 3 week road trip after the ceremony. I've seen so much country now..lol. The wedding went reasonably well, considering I had a COLD..go figure...and Tim and I were singing to each other. Course, my voice came out in squeaks, but everyone else loved it, and a few told us after that was the first time they ever cried at a wedding...* probably cause I hurt their ears* The reception was like an Hawaiian luau, with blue table cloths, sand and shells on them. Then a few folks kidnapped Tim and held him for ransom till I could get $250...I got $277. jest.gif

We went to VA, and DC, and Philly, Boston, and St. Louis, and Nashville, and Pigeon Forge Tennessee. Wow...were we tired when we got back home! Sorry no pic's right now...but I'll come back ASAP and post some..I'm just a bit rushed as I need to get some things done here around the house..Just wanted to pop in and and say hi and let you know I haven't run away...We got to get onto AOS too...so we're really busy! Talk with you soon!

Wow, what a road trip! I hope you waved at me when you were in Philly!! Can't wait to see some pics!

Unfortunately the weather report keeps getting worse.....the temperature for Saturday...38F......and the chance of precip (ie snow) went from 10% to 50%!! crying.gif

Awww best of luck on your big day! I hope the weather co-operates for you. Be back with pics!!

So, my parents want to have a "weding party" in Arizona in April... kind of like a second reception. Should I let my mom do all of the planning, as it is "her" party or should I plan it, since it is like a 2nd reception. I almost don't care, but I'm afraid if I don't care, then there's going to be something I'm not real crazy about... and I suck at hiding my feelings when there's something I'm not really crazy about.

I bought Martha Stewart invites at Walmart a few months back... they were on sale for $10 per box so I got 2 boxes... it comes with everything including thank you cards.... I got matching place settings and a guest book too..... so hopefully I can do a nice job of them, I will do them well in advance so if they turn out crappy I'll get them made professionally! I think they'll be nice though, I'm all about saving money and $20 on my invites is pretty cheap laughing.gif

Ours is going to be a non-denominational ceremony outdoors. Luckily my husband's family is supportive, since they are Catholic and all.

Ditto. I'm an atheist and hubby is agnostic!

However his family is pretty religious and not impressed (another reason they don't like me. They think I'm using my devil ways to bring him to the dark side) rolleyes.gif

I am getting really excited about the details of our wedding.

We're doing a photobooth save the date, so we need to go take some photos soon so we can create one and send it out. I'm thinking we will send it out by the end of October.

I've also decided that I definitely want letterpress invites, so I just need to convince my hubs that they are worth it. I'm going to order a bunch of samples so that I can show him the differences between regular printing and letterpress

Peachey - If you don't mind me asking, what was included in your $1500 quote? I'm looking to spend $3000, but I feel like that might be a little low for what I need. It would be nice to compare with someone.

I can't wait to go dress shopping again! I'm not going until December, but I know exactly what I want, so hopefully I will find it!

Photobooth save the dates are cool! My sister did that, it was really nice. She put magnets on the back of them too.

What are letterpress invites? And are they alot more expensive than regular?

Are you going dress shopping at Kleinfeld's laughing.gif

I know it can be hard on parents sometimes... especially because we're moving, that has something to do with it I'm sure. When I first told my parents we had to be married in 90 days and we were doing it on day 6 with no friends/family, just us 2.... they were pretty shocked! But once I explained the immigration process, they became more understanding and why I didn't want anyone there for the signing. To me, it was just the legal part and nothing else. We are having a wedding celebration next year, and everyone will be there! The only difference is, no paper to sign.

so not sure if this should go in offtopic or vent thread.. blush.gif

so i'm slightly confused and feeling awkward today.

my ex who i was with for 10 years sent me an email. very short and simple: he calls me by my nickname, says he's hurting and gives me his phone number.....#######??
last i heard..he had a great GF, family and friends who hate me etc etc. haven't talked to him in almost a year..

so today i send him a quick email asking why hes emailing me and it's awkward and confusing, and doesn't he have a gf frends family etc. to talk to? i mean..how the hell could i do anything or help him? i left him..and i dont wanna talk to him since i hate him for threatening to commit suicide when we broke up, and threatening david and harassing me for months.

he also send me another email asking where i was if i was in the states or not. and of course the champion of guilt trips replies that hes sorry he had to right to email me or ask anything of me blah blah blah..

i need this like i need a hole in the head right now, what with the stupidity of my k1 the way it is and the fact i really miss david and am emo etc. this week. ARGH!

Ugh, exes suck. Funny you post this as the same sort of thing happened yesterday. When I moved I didn't pass on my new number to my ex, and I switched e-mails. So he actually had the balls to call my old work extension yesterday, and ask my replacement for my phone number or e-mail address. My friend that I still work with e-mailed me to tell me he was looking for me, and he sent her an e-mail (got the addy from my replacement) he said he wanted to get in touch with me, etc. LOSER! There's a reason I didn't give you my new number. I would just IGNORE him, that's the best thing to do

so yesterday hubby found out there was an opening for a day shift position in the department he wanted so he applied for it... they start interviewing next week... I find it strange that he would have to go for an interview when he has been working there for five years and he has worked in that department before..

it will be better for him physically and mentally if he gets the day shift.. he says there is to much drama on the shift he is on now plus the crazy hours..

the only thing is there will be a slight drop in pay but it would be worth it to have a somewhat more normal life.. one where we could actually eat dinner together every night

That's awesome! Yeah my hubby switched to days too a few months back, also was a drop in pay. Things are alot tighter money wise, but our time together is way better!

Don't catch swine flu now Flames!

Our infection control officer is pretty concerned about the swine flu!! They really have no clue on how hard it is going to hit! I think the CDC is estimating 90,000 people in the USA will DIE from it, and millions sickened by it!! Unlike other flu's the major group affected by it will be the younger people!!! If ur noty crazy about getting the Swine flu vaccine (may not be enough for everyone anyway) at least WASH ur hands over and over!! And just don't quickly wet ur hands, that is not doing any good! Lather up with soap, use warm water and with an effort, really wash ur hands, the friction is what ya need 9dont go overboard though, lol) one should do this for 15-20 seconds!!! As well when u cough, cough into ur elbow!!

We were told at my hospital, that if we don't get the "normal" yearly flu vaccine,we have to wear a mask in the hospital from October to end of march (flu season) Lot of unhappy co-workers, as many don't like to get vaccine! No problem for me, I have always gotten them.

Yeah I heard Obama is encouraging Americans to get the Swine vaccine. It's so scary that it's gonna get really bad this fall apparently! I am the biggest germaphobe and it's worse now, when I go to the gym and stuff I cringe touching the equipment! And if someone sneezes or coughs out without covering, I FREAK OUT! I say COVER YOUR MOUTH! It's so disgusting, rude and nasty for people to spread their germs so carelessly.

I've always received the normal flu vaccine since I volunteered in nursing homes & the hospital, so I had to.

I've even had days where they promised to compensate me for my work and they never have... So I've accepted it now. I don't do it to help them, I do it to help my husband who works way to hard for one man.

Thanks guys! Yeah he's at work... he had no choice. He works for his parents, which is not as cool as you may think. He can't just take days off like normal people do, all hell breaks loose, he does A LOT for them. Its just frustrating because I often come down to work to help him out, for free, just doing odd jobs since, "my name is on the door now." But his parents took a long weekend last week and were gone until yesterday... I went to work with him Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and worked 12 hour days for absolutely nothing. I answered the phones, helped customers, even did some labor in the back just to help him out. I don't have an EAD so I don't take any money, and I'm not an official employee or anything... but given all the work I've been doing and expecting absolutely nothing in return, they don't even give my husband the day off so I don't have to be alone on my birthday? Apparently its to much to ask. They're so frustrating sometimes... wow.

That sucks so bad! I know you can't "officially" be paid for your hard work, but even a gift card or something in return to thank you, you know? Will you guys do something tonight, like dinner out maybe? smile.gif

Yeah, i'm not a 'fan' - never bought a CD or anything but decided I would watch the 'comeback' concert. Well it was ok I guess. You know, there is something to be said for just standing there singing without hopping around. People generally don't sing very well when they are hopping.

That's why alot of singers who dance in their concerts lip sync! I paid $100 to see Britney and she danced the whole time, didn't sing one word live. Last time I'll go see her! I like to see live performances. The exception was Madonna, when I saw her she sang live and danced alot too

Madonna hasn't sung a live concert in years. I had a colleague fight with ticket master for 6 hours to get a refund on a ticket after she found out that shows prior to the L.A. one were lip synced.

I bought 12 cans of tuna yesterday and I am going to get the rest through the week.

My son is going through the "embarrassed" stage. Everything I do is embarrassing.

Yesterday at Loblaws, I was putting all that tuna in my cart and he was like: "Oh my god mom, this is so embarrassing! Everyone is staring at us!"
So I said: "I don't care"
Then he got embarrassed that I said "i don't care" loudly because he felt this little old lady standing nearby thought I was saying it to her.
Then I went to self scan and he started going on again about how the way I was scanning was embarrassing.

Gah!

laughing.gif Too funny... I remember going through that stage myself, I got soooo embarrassed by my parents. One time my Dad was dropping me off at Tim's at age 14 to meet a group of friends, we used to loiter around Tim's. So he gave me a buck and asked me to go in and get him a donut and bring it out to him. I refused, because that was way to embarrassing buying a donut for my Dad, all my friends would see laughing.gif
