Just called the DOS and got an interview for July 29th 8:30 am. YaY-slowly and surely to the goal.
One question, is it possible to change this date?

Thank you all

NO!! Don't even try to change the date. Of course, it's possible but it will be regretted as you'll be put to the bottom of the pile, and wait another few months to be re-scheduled.... so don't, unless it's a matter of life and death, try and change the date!

How do you know when your packet 3 is logged? Also, during the visa interview, do they even look at your medical packet? I haven't seen anybody mention it in their interview reviews.

They def look at it; I think it would only be brought up if something was wrong with the medical.

Crossing the border this time was the hardest ever. I almost didn't make it when the POE guy said "I don't think I can let you in based on what you're telling me". It was our NOA2 that made a little sunshine in his day because he saw we were good little sheeple who follow the rules and have good intent! Phew! I'm so grateful to be with my family and let the interview date sort itself out. Now we can bite our nails together and drive down here alllllll over again in a few weeks! :-)

Advice to anyone trying to cross with a pending K1 - BRING YOUR PAPERS!!!

Well, today's Tuesday and I plan on calling in a few hours. I'll update this forum tonight with the progress!!

btw: Great job everyone with the 5 day a week calling program we got going on here! This thread is fantastic as are it's members!

I'm planning a trip to Oregon in late June. It's just a 5 day trip with my fiance. I was just planning to take my return itinerary and perhaps an employment letter that will be signed by my boss. Would that be sufficient? Thanks.

Tina

Tina, the employment letter and return ticket should suffice that you are coming back.

Well I see you sent your packet 3 only a few weeks ago... it's a bit early to be calling for an interview date.... I know it's hard to wait, but a few weeks is too soon to be calling. You can try calling later on in the wait, and you ask them if you have an interview date yet.

What were they supposed to write on the back? Mine was blank.....which made me wonder why they wanted me to photocopy BOTh sides.

On the back of mine, they hand wrote in pen my A # and also the petioner's name.

You didn't get a little cardboard card stapled into your passport? On the back, some handwritten info? You need the I94 for AOS.... Not sure why they didn't give it to you at your POE?

Oh yes, that helps. Any other advice on layout of what worked for you would be greatly appreciated.

Do they keep all the originals? or after you give them originals and copies, do they give them back?

I am realizing that we need a lot of the same documents for AOS too.

When I went (Wow, almost a year ago now!) they weren't handing out that sheet to prepare you, but I had read on VJ what to do. I had one of those plastic accordian folders, with everything labelled.

It's important to have copies of everything, as I gave all of Glen's paystubs and W2's and they kept the originals.... and yes you need alot of those same docs for your AOS package!

I think you get brownie points when you're super organized biggrin.gif

I do, too!!!

Yeah the lady smiled at me and said, you're so organized! I kept whipping out what she was asking for right away, so it was all good!

I know july, poprocks, saphiredreams and me have emailed montreal (more than once for some of us wink.gif me included) and we all got an interview around the dates we requested.

Just wondering. I think it only works if you have a valid excuse

I think that's just the standard cover letter, and they never change it. Mine said that too, but I knew from VJ it was wrong

It's the same as trying to figure out AOS timelines, you can't.... I was approved for AOS faster than most, without an interview. One girl I know sent her AOS in September, mine almost 3 months later. I got my GC already, while she's still waiting. It may not seem fair, but that's USCIS for ya!!

Called today and nothing, did notice on the timeline section that someone got their p4 yesterday. Don't get me wrong, I am happy for them and maysbe I don't know their situation but they recieved their NOA2 after I sent in my p3 and already have an interview??? Seriously?

If u follow other peoples stats it will drive you bonkers!!!! There is no method or consistency unfortunately

People who filed a couple months after us got their NOA2 the same time as us...we waited long...but we only waited 3 weeks from filing P3, so really they are all over the place!

Just be excited that you move this summer!!!! smile.gif

I know but comparing to other people is the only way to get any idea of a timeline. The lack of consistency is bs, so is the lack of customer service. After 2 e-mails about the NOA2 valididty date I finally got an explanation which was
"Good afternoon
Your visa will not expire
Operator 4"

Ummm.... Firstly I wasn't asking questions about a visa I was asking about the petition, and secondly, Im glad to hear that there is no expiration date on the visa, previously I thought I had read somewhere that there was a restriction that you had 6 months to enter the US when you were granted the visa? And omg lack of proffessionalism when calling DoS, the first few times I called they asked for case number, beneficiary and petitioner's full names and DOB, but the last 2 times they have only asked for case number and then answered my questions about the case, not even asking who was calling. I wonder what other information they give out? I'm trying to stress less but really it isnt working, if anything I'm stressing more.

Yes, the visa does expire.... you must use with within 6 months, that's correct

They must have been referring to your NOA2 does not expire, it does after 4 months and they automatically extend it

So here's a personal question: how many other here have broken nerves and extreme anxiety from the amount of time it's taking to get an interview date? Isn't is nice to know that 3rd world countries like Cambodia have faster processing than Canada? This whole visa process has consumed me....

Ummm I think the answer to that would be, everyone! It's completely normal to be wracked with stress this entire process

We were CR1 but I was pretty sure that was you as well. I didn't want to say anything because I thought you looked a little nervous. Congrats again kicking.gif It's a great feeling isn't it!

Haha we were to the one on Ste Catherine and McGill. There were too many couples for me to be sure it was you but you knew the elevator was opening on the other side smile.gif

This embassy was much nicer than the one in Paris, people were friendly at least. For the two former visas I had and had to go to Paris, the people there treat you as if you just commited a crime.

Another good point for Montreal wink.gif

Yup, that's the one we were at as well. yes.gif I wish we had more time to enjoy the city but leaving with an approval was good enough for me!

Yes, that was us facing the correct way on the elevator. laughing.gif I figured that anyone who knew that detail had to be on VJ!

On a separate note, I checked Canada Post tracking and my package has already been received at the Montreal post office!

Oh my number doesnt work yet!!!! mad.gif
I hope it's not a bad sign ...

Not a bad sign at all, my tracking # never showed up on the web. I got it, checked again and it still didn't work! It takes some time to be logged, if it is at all. Likely it may just show up at your place!

Congrats! Yes it will, Pearson does preclearance so be sure to go VERY early!! It may take a little while, depending on how busy it is that day. Where are you moving to Francie?

Cali, sweet! MEDICAL COMPLETED TODAY IN TORONTO!!

Uh, wow, that was fast!! 1-2-3 and I was done! What on earth was I so paranoid and worried about!?!?

It was already nice enough that I live within walking distance from Dr. Seidons office. I left at 6:40am and got there before 7am with coffee in hand. Payment was first, x-ray second, exam third, and blood test fouth and last. Badaboom badabing! I was out before 8:30am. Everything went so fast. The office was full of intending visa applicants and immigrants.

The exam went the quickest; the doctor was checking off check marks before even asking the questions! Out of all those questions on his sheet, he asked only 3 or 4 of them. It was toooooo funny. I did have to strip down and wear a gown though - for what though, I'll never know....the doctor only checked my breathing and abdomen. He glanced for .001 seconds at my "manliness" and that was it! :-) He was funny and in a good mood. I suppose I just looked healthy enough for him not to go any further? He asked only a couple questions and then said cheerfully "everything looks great!". The nurse taking the blood test was kind and gentle and asked me where I was moving to. I told her I was moving to the mountains in North Carolina on a K1 visa and she cooed and awed at the thought of young love.... <3 <3 <3 <3

He he he he he he!!! Now.... on to my next obsessive worry....

WHERE IS MY INTERVIEW DATE?!?!?!?!? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

C'mon Montreal! Put the poutine down and schedule me a date this month! Let's go! I wanna marry that crazy Merkin gal that I love so much! <3 <3 <3

Woohoo, told you it would be fine! I think they take a quick peek down under to make sure you're really a dude, LOL!! Hope you get your interview date soon!

Hi everyone! The paranoia is mounting again as my Medical appointment is tomorrow morning. Does anyone know if you have to give your OHIP number at Dr. Seidon's office? Does the doctor look into your Ontario Medical records behind your back or does he just look off the sheets you fill in? How much leg work do they do?

No, they didn't ask me for my OHIP card or anything at Dr. Seiden.... They cannot look at your medical records I don't believe, that's all private/confidential... plus it would be waayyy too much work for them to do that! They trust that you are being honest when asked your medical history, what prescription meds you're on, etc.

Jilla, thank you. If I told you, "you made my day", that would be an understatement. I fully plan on telling the truth, just being paranoid..... Thanks!

Yes, just be honest! Don't worry, I have/had high blood pressure when I went, and was on 3 different medications! I just told them what they were, and explained everything... It didn't cause an issue, but if I witheld the information you never know.... big brother could be watching.... laughing.gif good luck!!

Does anyone know or has anyone tried using a "Priority Next Day" envelope over an "X-Press Post" envelope? The X-press post can take 2-3 days. Would they care?

Also, does someone have to be home to sign for it? I don't know if this thing requires a signature or not.

You do have to be home to sign for it, if you're not they'll leave a slip and you have to go pick it up at your local PO. It's up to you to pay the extra $1 or whatever it is for the signature reqd sticker.... I'd suggest it though, you want to make sure this package doesn't get into the wrong hands by accident!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. You were right, it was so easy! It was the traveling and the waiting that was the hardest part. The interview literally took 5 minutes, she praised us on our neat paperwork, and just basically read through everything! She didn't even ask us how we met, she just read the paper we submitted with the I-129F and said, "wow you've been corresponding since 2005?" I'll write a review later tonight when I get home.

Good review Poprocks! I have one question though, the interviewer told you that you had to have a witness since you're marrying on the beach.... Is that because you're marrying in NJ and you require a witness in NJ? I got married in PA and this state does not require any witnesses and we didn't have one.... so just curious why she said you have to have one....

Congrats everyone btw! biggrin.gif

We had to have witnesses here in NC, so it must vary by state smile.gif

I went on the OCNJ site sndbi also called. They said that we need a witness to even get a license! Which I thought was weird...now we have to find someone to come apply with us who has known us for a while...what a pain...do maybe they do require for wedding too end she knew that? Guess we'll find out!

I posted an SSN and name change question in one of the regular forums....I may move it here...takes so long to get a response out there sometimes....

OH JulyBride must almost be done at the consulate.........I hope they made out ok!!!

The irony is... you hit it almost ON THE SPOT for time we were approved! We were out of there are 9:31... APPROVED and ALL!!! Yea!!! Good luck, tomorrow! smile.gif

kicking.gif Congrats girl, now go enjoy the sights of Montreal since you can now relax!!

LOL... I would, but the fiance' is sleeping here in the hotel room. He's been such a trooper and getting up early ("stupid teacher morning hours" as he calls them) these last couple of days. We're heading outta here in about 20-30 minutes and go to the train station to store our bags. We're going to meet PopRocks for lunch at about 1:30, so that should be fun! So, with him sleeping and me hanging out on the Internet, we are relaxing... in our own weird way. LOL blink.gif

Oh nice! I love these VJ meetups, they're great! Tell Pops we said hello and good luck tomorrow, have a safe journey home to London

Ok, confused yet again biggrin.gif

DS 156 question 30 asks about ever being granted a visa. On the sample form on VJ it states "no", even though it listed the sample as having been to the US preiovusly.

A B2 (Vistor's visa) IS a visa, so should we not list that???

What did you ladies put??

Thanks....

Leaving in TWO MORE DAYS!!! Unreal. kicking.gif

OH and an FYI: I called Dr.Seiden just to get a more confirmed answer on the x-ray situ. She said YEs, you have to bring the x ray and forms. NOt sure if we NEED it, but I guess as a Just In Case they tell people to bring it.

Ugh, one more thing to lug around!!! But I guess if we are bored we can always sit and compare chests together wink.gif HAHA

I listed yes, and wrote B2. They didn't have any problems with that answer. Some of my stamps didn't even say B2, but I still wrote B2. (most of them did). I also answered yes, B2 on my DS 160 (after I did the DS 156, I actually went back and re-did the DS 160 to ensure it was consistent because I didn't realize that I should've said yes, B2 initially on the DS 160.

I put no. Everyone says whenever you enter the US you've being given an invisible B2 visa but I have no stamps in my passport and I always go over by car, and nothing I have actually says "B2" so I really don't feel like I should put yes. When I filled out the DS 160 I said no visa there as well... Maybe that was a mistake on my part, but how am I suposed to know I was granted a visa when it's invisible? Anyone else get my logic?

When I did my form, back in the day I wrote "NO" when asked if ever granted a Visa.... in my mind I hadn't, I didn't know what a B2 was back then. No issues. I would still put no, how is the average person supposed to know what a B2 is.

I actually bought work with me. YUK! But its things I need to get finished up. I think I will go roaming today or tomorrow. I'm getting a cold so I would rather just stay in bed! I bought a GPS for myself at Christmas time, its paid for itself 10 times over on this trip. Those things are wonderful. No matter how many times I didn't make the turn it told me to, it still got me where I was going. Well for those that are there on Friday, see ya then!

OMG! What an awesome idea! I got a GPS for my birthday last year and didn't think of bringing it, because we'll be walking. But that's AWESOME! SOOOO glad you mentioned the GPS! good.gif Thanks, Wis-Can!

On another note... we'got a 9 hour train ride tomorrow to MTL, I think I'm doing thank you notes from the bridal showers. Oyyy... if I'm trapped in a box for 9 hours (as my fiance' says) I might as well be productive. He's worried about getting motion sickness, but I think he talks himself into the motion sickness, before we ever leave... like last night. Ugh. headbonk.gif

Don't worry, they have barf bags on all the VIA trains, you'll be fine laughing.gif
