K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTaxes
If you look at the guides here on vj-it will explain what you need to send in......................I don't think you need to include any tax info when you submit the petition, that comes later in the process.

Am I right guys? Is the process any different when filing from Russia?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDescribe how we met
I put..................we met in Dublin 2003 at a wedding-see supplemental page.

Then I wrote a small paragraph about how we have seen eachother since then(I also thought it would help explain all the plane tickets and passport stamps I inculded in the petition).

It is a little different for everyone-like Aussie said

Once you are 30 days outside processing times call them-they will take a referral and look into the case for you. I hope you get good news soon. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do at this point :(

It does appear to be a standard reply-same thing happened to me at Vermont. I sent my petition in 12/8..................but had no touches nothing. I called and they took a "referral", I got a letter similar to the one you got. I just got approved last week.

Good luck-hope you get good news soon.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEvidences for K-1
Every case is different-I sent in all required forms, copies of hotel receipts, car rental receipts & boarding passes. I do not think I overwhelmed them with proof of the fact that we had met, I just don't know if I should have sent my four photo's & called it a day. I just see this question asked over & over & it does seem that everyone has a different opinion on it.

I guess it is up to the individual preparing the application

I just mentioned this is another post-if relationship evidence is NOT required at the initial stage then it should be removed from the VJ guides.

It is causing a lot of unnecessary confusion.

I sent proof of our "on-going relationship" which in hindsight was NOT necesary. I sent copies of boarding passes, a copy of passport(to show all visits-when boarding passes were not available) hotel & car rental receipts & a few pages of phone bills. I just didn't want an rfe.

Now I wonder if that is what's holding up our petition? I think my packet was about 30 pages

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresquestions about packet 3 from consulate
Always answer the questions truthfully

Many people here have been denied at some point(whether it be for a visa or denied entry). It is always best to be 100% honest.

As far as the employment question-for my fiance I wrote: "With proper work authorization, employer unknown". if you look on the "guides" section here, you will see some answers to your questions. Take a look at the sample forms also.

good luck with everything

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of future marraige
I think this varies from person to person...............some have engagement ring receipts, some have wedding dress receipts, some have letters from friends and family.

I posted this same question last week. I am going to bring whatever I can to the interview-we don't have any concrete wedding plans yet because we didn't know when or if he would get the visa. It's hard to plan a wedding when you are at the mercy of the U.S. Government

Wait to see what others post-everyone here is great!!!!

for us the letter of intent will have to be sufficient enough(if they want ring receipts and dress receipts, I have those as well).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresletter of intent

I checked the guide and couldnt find an answer to this. Im now doing the fiance letters of intent for the US consulate in brazil. im getting my fiancee to sign hers for me to take back to the US with me. I have not yet decided when to send the i-129f packet in yet. Will the date I have on the letters, be out of date at some point? like if its dated for march and i send it in later, will that pose a problem? Do i need to make one adressed to the service center also, or just the US consulate in brazil? Im making copies of everything so i have 2 seperate packets going. Sorry if I seem a little dependant on the forum, but some of the links at the top arent working on this computer for some reason.

OK-I will try my best to help

First, If the letters are only dateda few weeks-months prior to your submitting the k-1, you should be fine(my fiance's letter of intent was signed 11/17 and I submitted the paperwork 12/9).

Second-just address them to the USCIS here in the states-they will not be going to the embassy yet. If you want to...........your letter of intenet can have the emassy's address on it for the interview.

Others will tell you if I am way off base here.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNVC to Dublin-how long should it take?
Thanks everyone

Yeah I figure Paddy's Day could delay things a bit. I spoke to a really nice woman last week who explained that they are "down" a person, so maybe they are swamped, and haven't entered the petitions in the system yet?

Just anxious to book my trip and see my man............shouldn't be too long now. I figure he will have things by next week. The woman said something about "ringing" him..........don't they just post it out to him?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNVC to Dublin-how long should it take?

Well, I think you are right to asssume taht regular mail only takes a week. But this is quite a big package and it has a few specials on it like registered mail and all that so that casn take a bit longer.
Also, It might well have arrived at Dublin and just not gotten to the right place and put in the system.
Just a little more patience, it'll be there soon

My patience ran out waiting for the noa2

No I just wondered what the "normal delivery time" is, if there is such a thing. Not a big deal I am sure my man will get the packet real soon.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNVC to Dublin-how long should it take?
Ok I just called Dublin, assuming the packet woud have arrived but it hasn't. I called NVC and they said it was sent out 3/13/06.

I tried to track the petition by reference on www.dhl.com, but there is nothing for Dublin at all. Anyone know how long it should be taking to get to the embassy? I really thought it was only a week at the most

I am not complaining-I just thought it would be there by now.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFinancial questions

Okay, thanks!

Oh I meant sending the original documents to my fiance for his interview. I'm the USC. I won't be able to get to France to go with him so I have to mail him everything he needs. I was planning on all of the originals plus a photocopy of the entire application, keeping another photocopy of the whole application for me.

Make 2 copies of everything. I gave my fiance all the originals and I made 2 copies of the entire k-1 packet as well!!!!

you seem good to go............good luck on your journey and congrats on the job!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureschange of address?

Okay, My dad emailed me from the states saying he had contacted the county planning office and the address change wont take place til next fall.. by then hopefully we will be scheduling our interview and all.. is this gonna be a huge problem if its that late in the process?

Just wanted to keep this thread alive at the top since i dont have any answers yet. Just hoping for someone who may have experienced this. What if they change my address just before my interview or something like that? Would i need to fill everything out again or would it delay everything?

I can't imagine that it would be a huge issue at the interview stage...........I would assume that you would just have to put the new address on the paperwork. At whatever stage in the process you decide to move-just let the government know. Aussie gave you a ## call if you need it(as she mentioned-if it is still at a service center)

maybe someone else can respond? I am sure people move all of the time-shouldn't be a huge problem

I plan on bringing my last 3 yrs tax returns, pay stubs, and letter from employer. I have read that since I am not self-employed I do not need the tax returns, but I would rather be safe than sorry ;)

If I am in Dublin, it's not like I could just run and get them.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresevidence of relationship

They don't want evidence of your relationship til the interview, so hold off on e-mails/letters/phone bills/etc. for now. Right now they want to know that you two intend to marry each other within 90 days of him arriving in the country (hence the letters of intent) and that you two have met in person within the last 2 years. So boarding passes, print-outs of e-tickets, hotel receipts, pictures of you two together, etc.

agree 100%

If you don't have all your boarding passes-copy the stamps that are in your passport-that is what I did.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about Employer Letter for 134
Just a few questions about the letter from your employer. I am employed part time, and though I did get a letter from my employer it is not on business stationary. Do I still need the letter if I'm employed part time (and have a co sponsor), and how crucial is it for the letter to be on company paper? Thanks in advance...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS156
While looking at packet 3 I am confused as to whether you send documents off with it or not. It repeatedly says on the packet not to send any documents. Yet DS156 it says please attach the following documents: birth certificate 134 etc. Also is it necessary to generate barcodes for DS156? I filled it out and printed it online but no bar code came out. Thanks.

My fiance will be off to his medical tomorrow although he has yet to get a passport photo. How strict are they about the passport photo being to the US size will he get away with the standard UK photo. Or does he need to find somewhere with the correct size. If so does anyone know of a photo place near to the Kensington medical centre. Thanks very much for your time.

I am waiting too!!!

I called them last week & they told me I have to wait until 30 days past the processing dates(example-I sent mine 12/8 they are processing 12/10 applications, I would have to wait until they are processing 1/8 applications).

I know how you feel-especially when some people are approved in a week. Some people even applied in mid-January & got approved. You can try to cal but I am sure they will give you the same info they gave me

I am really annoyed

I love it there so it is nice to know that I could go there to live. I just have to get my head around all that paperwork. Now that I have filed the k-1, I am a little burnt out

I will be applying within the next few weeks b/c I know it is taking up to a year for them to process the applications. I wanted to file even before I met my man but now I really want to do it.

You can get dual irish citizenship if your parent or grandparent was born there

getting there through marriage is probably easier than the UK, or so I'm led to believe by people who have done it

My man will be coming here but with the dual citizenship, it is nice to know I can go there if I choose to in the future. My grandparents wer born in Ireland & married there.

I have all my info I just need to come up with the $180.00

thanks for all the responses

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTaking the plunge into the K1

I thought it was well known that emigrating there was faster. Much less paperwork.

eterri - totally agree with you about the cost of living thing. That is the main reason we are settling here (aside from the fact that my fiance is tired of England, LOL). And we're practically neighbors!! :D

I was told I need a work visa to live in Dublin & they are not so easy to come by, that is why I am filing for dual-citizenship. If I thought it were that easy to live there, I would have packed up long ago(well maybe not) but I am glad I have that option once I have my Irish passport in hand.........8 months from now

It's a lot faster to emigrate to the UK as well.
Just throwing that out there :)

I thought about moving to Ireland but I need a visa-which would be very hard to get I am told(I am going for dual-citizenship), which is great but that will take a year.

Is there a quicker way that i am not aware of? Please let me know

Thanks Richi,

I appreciate your help! It IS stressful & people do handle things differently, some people stress about 15 days & some don't stress until 150..................I am new to all this & although it is advised to never compare timelines-that is damn near impossible when you see the new posts everyday. There is nothing to do BUT compare your timeline with others!!!!!

Irish, I know it's hard but calling the USCIS will get you the exact same response I gave you.

Rule #1 is don't compare your case to others.

Try to hang in there!

Oh I am but I am a little frustrated, even if I didn't look at others processing times(which is near impossible)I would still be freaking b/c vsc is typically pretty fast.

I was just wondering if an e-mail would generate another response-or well at least something
