I have done some analysis on timeline and observed that NOA2 mostly takes 150 to 200 days. Is there anyone who has same analysis?

Thanks a lot for you quick and useful reply. Well I also want to let you know that we have hired an attorney  and provided him all the documents which he asked us back in june 2013, after that it took almost 3 months to receive NOA 1. Usually it takes only one week and so right.

Also I would like to add that I'm an indian citizen living and working in singapore, so being beneficiary from 3rd country, I'm afraid that it will take long time for the process to complete, is that so?

My wife is petitioner & she received hard copy of NOA1 on 9th september. We found out following things from our case number which was in the receipt.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsConfused about USCIS procedure

Hello to everyone,

I have been confused about the actual process, We have received NOA 1 (from USCIS) and then now next step is NOA 2 ( hope I am right). What I don't understand is some of the people were talking about case being transferred to another office? is that so that between NOA 1 and NOA 2 case is transferred to somewhere else?

Hello to everyone,

They are still reviewing March 2013 applications. I am the september filer.

Now we both feel its too much and we are planning to stay together in singapore till this process goes through. Seriously, it's a torture.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhen will I recieve NOA2

Hello everyone, my wife is a US citizen and I'm an Indian living and working in Singapore. My wife received NOA 1 hard copy on 9th September 2013 which had the case number. With the help of case number we came to know following details about our case.

Initial Review

On September 3, 2013, we received this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

My question are

1. Since I am beneficiary living in 3rd country ( Singapore)  does it going to take long time in process of my application or it will have processed in same time frame?

2. Usually, how long does it take to receive NOA 2?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsInitial review

I am September filler and I have received same email on 24th and 25th of February. This is actually great news for anyone who receive this kind of mail.  USCIS shares the application load with their internal offices. This mail clearly specify the internal activity among USCIS offices. So to achieve their goal to process the application within given time frame they transfer the application. Hopefully you will soon get some approval or in other words they will review your application as soon as possible. If they needs any evidence regarding your case they will let you know.

Recently USCIS transferred most of the August and September applications. You might be in September batch that's why your application transferred.

Good Luck

After approval how we come to know that when our case received by NVC??

And how long does it take to get an interview date after NVC receives a case??

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSomething important regarding NVC

He is correct. What is your question?
Its actually $88 & $230

Oh I got my answer, I don't have any question on this topic, I posted it for those people if they wanted to know these thing. Earlier I thought that since I paid pretty much good amount to my attorney I don't have to pay anymore, lol  and everything will be taken care by him. So I had this question to him. Well now I came to know that this what we need to pay.

Oh thanks for giving me correction to the attorney's reply.

I asked my attorney these two questions

Do we need to pay any fees to NVC ??
Or any further action required from our side??
and his answer was

Yes, there will be 2 fees that need to be paid 88 dollars and 237 dollars.  The NVC will email instructions with invoices 30-45 days after the march 11, 2014 I-797 date.  Nothing can be done until those invoices are emailed from the nvc.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSOME MAGICAL CALCULATION ABOUT NVC CASE NUMBER

I was searching something on Google and I found this,

How To Calculate NVC Case Number

The NVC is a facility that is responsible for processing immigrant visa applications after they have been approved by the USCIS. Each case received by the National Visa Center is assigned its case number.

1. After your I-130/I-140 petition has been approved, you can get your NVC case number from the NVC. Do this by calling the NVC at (603) 334-0700. First provide your USCIS receipt number, which is in your I-797 Notice of Action 1 (NOA1).

If your visa package has been received by the facility, either the automated voice recording or a human operator can give you your NVC case number.

 2. Write down your case number. It is a series of three letters and 10 numbers with no dashes or spaces. An example NVC case number looks like this: MNL2013524001.

3. Split the figures as follows: LLL NNNN NNN NNN, where "L" is a letter and "N" is a number.

4. Read the three letters from the left. This is the code for the U.S. consulate that has jurisdiction over the visa applicant's location. It is where you will get a visa interview. For example, "MNL" refers to the U.S. consulate in Manila.

5. Read the first four numbers following the letters. In this example it is "2013." This is the year that the NVC received the visa application.

6. Read the next three numbers. This is the day of the year in which the case was received. It is the figure minus 500. For example, "524" means NVC got the package on the 24th day of the year, January 24.

7. Read the last three numbers in the case number. It tells you the order it was assigned to the consulate that day. In this example, it is "001" so it was the first case created for the Manila consulate on Jan. 24, 2013.

I am not sure weather it is right or wrong but it is good try it out, lol.

Have fun

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsIs there anyone who has hired an attorney.

The only thing I noticed that was faster was like said before you don't have to do the DS 261. So we got both our invoices at once about 2 weeks after the NVC received our case. For me it was worth having an attorney to double check all the paperwork. Our attorney didn't insist on waiting for the invoices to show paid before sending in the documents. But we were approved 2 weeks later so it wasn't that big of a deal to wait.

Thanks for letting me know this thing.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsIs there anyone who has hired an attorney.

Me and my wife were planning to start our case ourselfs but we decided to hire an attorney.. Family member retired from Border Patrol after 40 years.. Anyways we didn't care about the cost of it because I know its a good investment ..I know a couple people who have done their process all by them selfs and succeed and some that have messed everything up so bad that have to wait longer ... So just to think about that I don't think I can handle anymore stress. ..If you do decided to go at it alone then best wishes ...but its not going to hurt if you hire an attorney its a good investment at least that's how I see it..... as to your question like DWHEELS76 said we all move at the same paste....Best wishes friend..

Oh I am sorry that I haven't mentioned that we already had hired an attorney very long back, but I was bit confused about the process after approval, and  that's why I have post this question.

Well I also got answer of this question from one of the experienced VJ.

Hiring an attorney is good thing if he does his work after an approval. So this VJ told me that you can control the speed of the process after getting NVC case number if you have an attorney.

Yeah I am not worried about the cost, since we both has very busy life we can't afford to put our time in this process as you know how tedious it is. Thanks once again. Best wishes to you too.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC possible errors while LOGIN OR PAYING BILLS

I was searching NVC possible errors while paying bills or login, so far I found two with their solutions ( pasted below). If anyone knows about other NVC  errors Please post it with their solutions so that it could be helpful and people won't panic

Error #1

I just got the email to make payments after obtaining case number & IIN last week. When I tried to signin with my Case #, and IIN, it says :

This case is in the process of termination. Fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted. If you believe you have received this message in error, or to resume processing of the case, please contact the NVC immediately.

I am on the phone with NVC waiting for my call to be picked up.. any idea why will they terminate.. and what should I do ? !!!

Answer: Don't worry, this is completely normal. Give it a day or so....

Error #2

when i Login , it returned below message !

Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please contact the National Visa Center if you believe that you have received this message in error.

Is that buck or should i need to wait or do call back to NVC  ??????

Answer: You have to atleast wait for 2-3 days for them to set up your case.

My NOA 2 was 2/12 and received at NVC 2/21 but didn't get a case number until 3/27! its now 4/7 (almost 2 months since NOA2) and we have just filled the DS260 saturday so now we wait.....so yes I guess I can see why its taking 5 months from NOA2 to interview

I am figuring NVC case complete won't happen until approx 5/1 (so almost 3 months post NOA2) hoping for no checklists too which would extend the timeline further

and tthen interview won't happen til June (so about 4 months post NOA2)

and these are my BEST case scenarios! so I would think average of about 5 months post NOA2 is reasonable

oh yeah that's why Title of my post is " 5 more months" ( quite similar to book title "5 point someone").

Anyways yeah well I don't know but it will takes time what it is going to take. I just pray everything goes smooth and nice.

Good Luck

I'm sorry, but to peg in/out duration at NVC based on consulate is a misappropriation of queues and calendar math.  Don't do that, don't rely on Consulate location, don't make ANY assumptions based on Consulate location.

Instead, YOU TWO (plus the lawyer) control the pace.    There's two final queues that you have no control over,

case complete waiting queue and interview scheduling queue.  However, if the attorney (or you) gets in all of the stuff within the same week that the fee bills are paid, then you have some hope of speed (as you three controlled the pace).

If this date is right, from yer timeline,

NVC Received :  2014-03-20

Then yer right at the cusp of the switch being turned on.

Actually it is 19th of March 2014, it was my 20 th March so I just put it as 20th March. On this day I have called NVC and the operator told me that same day they received our case but case hasn't been updated in their system. After that I haven't tried to call them. Oh Thank you so much.

I agree.. and there's also the possibility that USCIS screws up and doesn't send your case to NVC.. which is what is happening to us!!!  We had to wait exactly 1 year from NOA1 to NOA2.. and now it's been 9 weeks and NVC still hasn't gotten our case.  And no amount of calling USCIS will have them tell us where our case is.  They just keep giving us the "it hasn't been 90 days" b.s. and they refuse to say anymore.  So now we are in the process yet again of getting our congressman involved.  Which also takes time.  UGH.

I am so sick of this entire process... so very bloody sick of it.  I can't stand all the false optimism and people telling other people to just be happy and think about how they will have the rest of their lives together.  Which is why I tend to stay away from the forums now.  Because I am a sour bitter grape.  Nuff said.

Two weeks ago I have checked with NVC on 19 th of March they have received our case. I am sorry to know about your conditions.

Good Luck

It's best to follow the spreadsheet on Saylin's NVC thread. Currently, the average time at NVC from case # to case complete is 56 days. As of right now, it's taking roughly 28 days to get case #, and that backlog is getting better everyday. That's about 3 months at NVC. Medical/interview varies by country.

Oh i c, Oh yeah I had looked at her article too which is very informative. Well Thanks for the info. Since I have Singapore consulate, it takes around 3 months. Let see hope for the best.

Good Luck

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports5 more months really!!!!!!!

attorney, you say?

if he filed a G-28 with the I-130,
then
you will actually get some speed at NVC, none of this mucking about with a DS-261 and the IV and AOS fee bills are generated the same day, usually within a week after the consular casefile # is assigned,
so

IF'N that lawyer is prepped, you two can be done at NVC within 30 days of the consular casefile # being assigned.

This pre-supposes that the lawyer knows what the @#ck he's doing and doesn't wait for any postal correspondence from NVC (A sure kiss of kiss, add 4 months to this cycle) .

So, if'n you or the petitioner wanted to be proactive, simply call into NVC every other day, circa 20:00 EST, and inquire the status of the casefile.

Whilst yer waiting, read a NVC Monthly Forum in the IR-1 Progress Reports SubForum, as there is stuff to do to jumpstart all at NVC (prolly scare the lawyer, but hey) .

Oh yeah we used a lawyer , also he has send me G28 back in May 2013. All the paper work were completed in June and my wife have submitted him with 100 % fees. Then we thought that he is doing his work but guess what we got email of acceptance in September 2013. Well after that I joined VJ and came to know about process. Just imagine how could it take 3 months to just receive NOA1. My wife told me not to get upset now and said now we cant do anything, since he already wasted time. Now when I come know that we will need him again.... so I don't know. But this time me and my wife will both follow him time to time. I hope this time he don't waste time .

Thanks a lot,the information you have provided is really very helpful.

Congratulations on getting your I-130 approved !

Now you can prep for the next stage, NVC Document Intake and Fee Paying, for the Visa Application.

as to 5 months, sure, that's possible - just remember that once NVC assigns the consular casefile number, YOU control the speed.

Thanks a lot , yeah documents are already submitted to our attorney, I hope this time he take seriously and don't waste time anymore to submitted everything to NVC correctly. Well I just need Police Clearance Certificates from two countries. I really wish everything works well for everyone.

Why are you all saying it took him a short time to get his NOA2? It took him 1 year and 1 day. That's far more than the normal waiting period from NOA1 to NOA2.

This entire process from start to end can take anywhere from 12 - 16 months.

Oh, I see.. he/she switched around the date of the NOA1. It's Sept 3rd, not March 9th, right?

Yeah you can say that it is short for me (He), it took 188 days to get NOA 2 ( from my PD 3rd September 2013).
