Katz, I'm a bit rusty from being out of Aus for so long, but isn't the initial international code 0011? if that's the case, wouldn't you need it + country code? so if dialling the UK is 0011 44, dialling the States would be 0011 1...?

hope that's right and not just complete rubbish wink.gif

congrats on all the approvals! great news in here today... sending my love to people whose journeys aren't going as smoothly sad.gif

I used: 0011 1 6033340700 earlier today, but for some reason it was "incomplete". Then when I used it later on it worked. WEIRD.

I FINALLY got through to the NVC!

...And there were no live operators available at the time I called (about three minutes ago). Bloody figures!! Gahh. *headdesk*

Call DOS. 202-663-1225. When they answer press option 1, then at the next prompt press option 0 . They have the same information as NVC and they are usually easier to reach. Several people have also said that they are more helpful than NVC.

I'll try that, thanks! biggrin.gif

I'm gonna have to wait for my fiance to call them again tomorrow. He called them twice today before he had to go into work, but their lines were very busy.

try 001 603 334 0700.......thats what I call from UK

001 is same as +1 so shouldn't need to do both

plus, i start to feel anxious because the visa will be there anytime within the next 3 months. meaning i will leave my family and friends within the next 3 months. i am waiting and praying for the day when i can be with Eric for the rest of our lives, but leaving my family and friends on a different continent really brings the tears to my eyes.

i know that i will get along well in the US and we already lived together in the last year, so i'm not scared of that. but i am scared of homesickness.
can anybody relate to that or am i crazy?

You're definitely not crazy. On one hand I'm really excited to finally be reunited with Will, but on the other I'm worried about leaving my parents and brother behind. So I know exactly how you feel. I'm really nervous about how I'll cope with the homesickness... unsure.gif

I think I'm at THAT POINT!!! IF I SEE AUGUST 7, 2007 ONE-MORE-TIME!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! mad.gif

Ok, that's it...just wondering if I'm alone on this one!!

Blessings,

YES. I offically hate the date "07/25/2007", which was our last touch. I also really hate:

"Application Type: I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status: Case received and pending.

On July 19, 2007, we received this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case....
etc, etc".

I feel like I'm slowly going insane. dry.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJune and July filers - NVC to Interview
Some foreign U.S. consulates require a 2nd affidavit of support which is called "sponsor's financial responsibility
under the social security act." It is a simple form and easily filled out and signed. The Hong Kong consulate does
require this form, as does the Sydney (Australia) consulate.

Question to all Aussies in this thread: Is that true? I've been getting different answers all over the place, and I'm starting to get very frustrated over this stupid form. I'm gonna email the Sydney consulate very soon, but there's no guarantee of an answer, which is why I'm asking here...

Does it come in packet three? I saw a pdf of it, but it's a crappy-looking copy. Gah. helpsmilie.gif

To track through DHL do you get the tracking number for NVC? I didnt think to ? about that?! Thanks.

Try EXP 17 DEC 2007A (or change 17 to 18), and enter that number in "track by reference" on the DHL site.

I'm an Australian engaged to an American, and we're in the process of filling out the I-129F so I can come over.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA quick question about the G-325A form.
So far, the G-325A form has been a cakewalk to fill out. But I do have one little question about the employment history. I've worked for the same company for over five years, and I only needed to list that. I used three separate lines for the address in the space that was provided. Is that okay? I couldn't fit it all on the same line.

[Company name]
[Company address line 1]
[Company address line 2]

I know it seems like a silly question with an obvious answer, but I just wanted to double check.

Thanks!

Hey guys!

Just a quick question here...

I'm an Australian who will be moving to the US... We've already put in the petition (July) and now we're just playing the waiting game. I plan on changing jobs (for various reasons) soon, and I was wondering if I would have to let the USCIS know about the job change, just like how you would if you move before waiting for approval?

Thanks!
If you are the beneficiary USCIS doesn't really care about you changing jobs in Australia.
They are more concerned about the petitioners financial status in the US.

Oh cool. I thought so... Just wanted to double check anyway. Thanks! smile.gif

last time I went I was a self employed photographer and the wee guy casually asked "so you can work anywhere in the world then?" I, without thinking, said yes.....the wee guy looked at me and I realised what he was hinting at so I just added I had wedding bookings to honor back home and showed him my PDA with bookings....my wee heart was going like nuts. Thankfully he let me through and even said he wished he could do what I did instead of being stuck in his wee booth.

As long as you can show some tie...any tie....you should be fine!

I don't foresee any issues arising from your impending approval. Like you, I went to visit my fiance while our application was processing, and we actually received the approval while I was visiting him in the US. The subject of my application never came up while I was clearing through immigration - the officer was more interested in the length of my stay and the reason for my visit.

Be sure to bring with you evidence that shows the proof of ties that you have with your home country (rental agreement, proof of return ticket, etc) so that you can show intent of returning at the end of your trip. The only issue that may come up to the officer is that you'll be unemployed at the time of your trip, which might raise questions about how you'll support yourself while in the US.

Keep in mind that you run the risk of being turned back, even with proof of ties to the home country. But this question comes up every week - a lot of people visit their US fiances while their application is in process, and the majority are successfully cleared through immigration with no trouble.

Good luck good.gif

Thank you so much for your reply. I feel more nervous about the unemployment aspect more than anything... I can't remember if they asked me any questions about what I did back home when I went through the POE last time (first time overseas so I was very nervous! Haha). I will have quite a bit of spending money to take with me... But showing proof of my ties back in Australia is a good idea...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSome concerns about visiting the US again...
Hey guys! I have a question for you...

In January, I plan on going back to the US again to visit my fiance, but this time for about 6 weeks (the first time 'round I was only there for three). Like in April, I will be using the VWP.

I have two main concerns:

1. It is quite likely that our petition (according to the processing timelines) will be approved in January sometime (maybe even earlier, like in November), possibly during my 6 week visit.

2. I plan on quitting my (new) job about three weeks before I leave, and then get a new one when I come back.

Do you suppose I will have major problems at the Point of Entry? I know that they have the right to refuse entry for any reason, and the fact that our petition is very close to being (hopefully!) approved (that and I just quit my job for a long-ish stay) might look a little... fishy to them.

What do you folks think? Should I get tourist visa just to be "safe"? I'd like to get your opinions/experiences on travelling during the visa process. Thanks. good.gif

Is the beneficiary required to have a certain amount of savings before entering the country on a K1 visa? Or is the USCIS only really concerned about the petitioners financial situation?

I have made it into the US !! Now for the bad news... enroute at a conntection I lost my passport that had my visa on it sad.gif Not sure if it matters becasue I have already sued teh visa to enter... quetsion is, can I still get a SSN without my passport? I have applied for a new canadia passport but it takes 4 weeks!!!

stressting out:(

Ring the airline ASAP! If you lost it on the plane, then there might be a good chance that the cleaning crew would have found it and reported it. As far as I know airlines will keep lost items up to six months. But since it's a passport, they might send it back to a Canadian consulate. Unless you have another form of official ID, you might not be able to apply for a SSN without it since it contains your I-94.

Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMy fiancee can sign her 5-year-old's documents, right?
I'm a bit confused after reading this... my fiance in the USA is now in the process of getting some docs together to file the I129F, when is the letter regarding custody needed to be filed? I didn't think we needed a letter regarding my son's custody until at later date?

My son's father lives in the UK, I live in Australia with my son (he's nearly 6) & we have a verbal arrangement in place. He's quite happy to sign an Affidavit for my son to move to the States with me.

As for the "7 month arrangement".. if it's only verbal it can't be proved it was said, and Family Law is one of those things that can get really quite messy. I'd get the Father to put something in writing.. without specifying how long your child can stay in the USA.
