GAH. This endless waiting is killing me. 41 days since the petition was sent (no touch since late July) and I'm jealous of you all. Hahaha. tongue.gif

Sorry, had to vent... Waiting sucks. *sigh*

Kath and Jezz, thank you both very much for the info! I'll be living in Indiana... Apparently we have to get blood tests done and apply for the marriage license at least a month before the ceremony - both in person! Eeek! I hope I don't go over the 90 days waiting for the damn thing... The social security office doesn't sound like a fun place to visit twice. Heh. tongue.gif

Unless... Stuff like that (marriage license etc.) is sorted out with the visa process?

Hey, guys!

I have a quick question to ask... How long does it normally take for the USCIS to get back to you about... Anything, really? My fiance sent off the I-129 almost two weeks ago, and we know that it has been delivered, but there's been... Nothing. The cheque hasn't even been cashed yet. I really hope they do that before the end of July... Having to send out another cheque for MORE money would slow things up even more... >.<!

Bah! I'm probably worrying too much. *bites nails*

Thanks Katz! I see that you guys have sent in the I-129F! Now the ball is well and truely rolling! Just wait for all the "touches" you'll see on the USCIS website. Lots of fun to watch! Congrats on starting the process! Woo!

You're welcome! :D

Yes, we've finally sent in the forms! All we have to do now is wait and stalk the USCIS site for the next several months. :P

I would like to let all of you know that if you are Adjusting Status or getting your medical done, there is a new requirement for the TB Skin test. When you do your medical oversea's the doctor only does the X-Ray and not the actual TB Skin Test. This is because the oversea's doctors have not all been made aware of the new requirement which has only recently gone into effect.

Eeek. Where did you find that info at?

and they said that my fiance was more then welcome to attend my interview with me and they jotted him down as attending ......... even tho i said that he may visit.. (MAY VISIT) guess they skipped that bit lol.....

Aww... It sucks that you have to wait so long, but at least you'll have plenty of time to prepare for it! Plus, your fiance may be able to attend the interview when it comes around. That'd be awesome. :star:

Good morning all,

Congratulations on your approvals. I am so sorry that you had to experience that. We are their customers. If we didn't pay for this process they wouldn't have a job. Inconsiderate buttholes.

I didn't have that experience when I called. The "first" time I called NVC the first thing the lady did was give me my case number.

Heck I think it was NVC. I also called DOS and the lady that assisted me was very nice. The last time I called DOS after four times the young man gave me my fiance interview date.

Try again and PRAY that you will get someone that is kind and considerate while you are on hold.

God Bless

Haha, so true... They tend to forget that...

I'm glad you've had some good experiences with the NVC. I was starting to wonder if this type of thing is standard practice with these people. I'm going to try again in a couple of minutes when they open... Let's hope this time 'round will be a little more successful! good.gif

the lady at the DOS lied to me, she told me that she couldn't tell me where our case was, unless i had the NVC-case number. WELL; IF I HAD THE STINKING NUMBER I WOULD NOT ASK IF OUR CASE WAS ALREADY AT NVC, RIGHT?????????

but let's wait and drink tea.

want some cherry cake, too?

God, what a load of #######... I dread calling that place again. I really do. I still think the lady I got screwed it up. I guess I'll see in 1 1/2 hours.

don't worry. i talked to a mean B*ITCH at DOS last night, for the same reason. afterwards i called NVC and talked to a really nice lady.

we got approved the same day, and nothing from our end either.

I have a crappy job too, but I still don't talk to my customers like that...

National Visa Center (Dept of State)A very frustrating experience with the NVC.
I called the NVC for the first time last night, and had a very frustrating experience...

Got through pretty quickly, as I called a few minutes after they opened, and got the rudest phone operator I've ever had to deal with.

I gave her our receipt number (she said 'case number' so I presumed she meant receipt number) and she had me repeat it three times (and she didn't repeat it back to me). Now, I know that the Australian accent can sound a little thick to foreigners, but I spoke sloooowly and clearly, and I got the impression that she still couldn't understand me. There were a few moments of silence when she asked:

"What's this for?". That confused me greatly since I'm very sure I chose the correct prompt.

"Uhh, I'm just checking to see if the NVC received my approved I-129F petition?"

(speaking too fast for me to hear clearly): "It's not here yet."

"Oh... Not yet?"

"It's NOT HERE yet." *click*

Now, I know that it must suck having to answer phones all day from stressed out people, but there is NO excuse to act like a raging b*tch and hanging up without so much as a 'thank you' or 'Have a nice day'. I also thought it was odd that she didn't ask what NOA I had, the beneficiary's (and petitioner's) name, date of birth, or anything else. I'm starting to wonder if she put in the wrong number. I've done that myself a few times in the past when logging into the USCIS site. I'm gonna have to ring them back tonight to double check. I hope I get someone else because I know I'll be probably be very rude back this time. Which is NOT a good thing at this stage...

Has anyone else had a bad experience like me? mad.gif

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Odd...
I tried calling the NVC a few times today, and all I was getting for a while was a constant engaged signal. When I finally got through, the voice recording spoke Spanish (after I pressed 1 for English) and then hung up on me. LOL. Are the lines down/messed up at the moment?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMore concerns...
As I'm Australian, I will have to go to Sydney for my interview... (I live in Perth, Western Australia). It is more than likely that I will have to reschedule my interview time (when it comes around) because of work commitments. My question is... How flexible is the embassy about changing interview times? Can I get the medical on the interview day if I ask for it? (I ask these questions now so that I know what to expect later, and to ease my mind a little... It's probably not for months and months away yet, but I feel nervous about it already!)

Any advice/experience (no matter how big or small!) about dealing with Sydney would be very appreciative.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionSome questions about my rights with the 10 year card...
My sincerest apologies if this topic has been brought up a thousand times before... but I don't know where else to look.

Okay, my 2 year (conditional) green card expires in February next year, and we are going to file to remove the conditions. We have plans on moving to Australia permanently summer of next year. Can I be a resident in both countries? With that green card am I free to enter the US for visits whenever I want, no matter how long I have been gone? What are my rights with a 10 year green card?

I hope this all makes sense. Thank your for your help... I've been so confused on what to do.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionFee changes
Hi, all.

I have two questions:

1. My GC will be expiring on February 10th 2011. We plan to send the ROC package a few days after November 10th 2010. Would that be considered too early?

2. I went on the USCIS website to look at the I-751 instructions and application form. It says that the fee is $545 (which includes the bio fee). I saw somewhere in this forum that the fee is supposed to go up to $590 (#######?!) on November 23rd 2010. Is that true? I saw no evidence on the USCIS website stating the fee change. If it turns out to be correct, would the cheque for $545 be accepted if they receive the package before that date?

Thank you. :luv:

So wait... you have to go to another country for your medical? Interview too? That's insane!! blink.gif

Ah, but Scotland is part of the United Kingdom! As are England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

With that said, I still think Scots should be able to be processed through the US Embassy in Edinburgh.

me too. I agree with that one. Would definatly make my life easier. It's so expensive to travel down there. I think UK should be same as EU. The German fiance(e)s don't have to travel to brussels for an interview.

We have a US consulate in Edinburgh but they don't do any visas.

It's gonna cost me about $650AUD to fly over to Sydney for my interview. And I live across the otherside of the country. wacko.gif
