K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAffidavit of Support - Urgent help needed!

Hi All,

Yet another road bump in preparation for the doc's

So as part of the Affidavit of Support we need letter from the employer of my finance with certain detail and she submitted a requited in her company but what they said is that per the co policies the letter will be send only if the requester call a 1800 number.

Has any one faced this situation before any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Yes it seems most larger companies do that now as mine did as well. The way to get around that is simple really. Just fill out all the information yourself (make sure it is correct) and have your supervisor sign the paper for you. Make two copies for the supervisor to sign so you have an extra one. It only has to be signed by someone that is above you at work. It does not have to be signed by the HR department. It worked for us!:)

Good Luck!:)

Does it really matter? If she is getting a K-1 visa she is leaving that job anyway.

Good point! I think she might be worried she won't get the visa and then doesn't have a job either. It is hard for me to imagine them turning her down for a visa though!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWorks for the government

For all they know she might be applying for a tourist visa, however, she would be best served by bringing the issue with her boss herself and letting them know she is planning to emigrate.

You don't understand if she did that they would fire her on the spot! From what I'm told if they find out she is trying to get a K1 visa to this country she will lose her job. I mean this is the Russian government not the US government.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWorks for the government
I have a question and if anyone knows the answer I would appreciate it!:) My fiance works for the government in Russia and she is very worried about the DHS or US Embassy calling her boss asking about her. If they do she will get fired with no questions asked!!!So my question is do they really call their employers or do they just want to know how they make a living?
Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about translations

Yes, you can. Anyone fluent in both languages can place a certification on the translated document and sign it. USCIS provides a sample certification format to use. Scroll halfway down this page and see what USCIS says about translations. Nowhere is it stated you must hire a third party. http://www.uscis.gov...cations-mailing

We only had to get two documents translated into English ( birth certificate and divorce certificate) and the price of 20 dollars was well spent to get that official stamp on it from a Russian lawyer. That way there is no question about it being accurate. Her daughter did the translations but is a certified translator in her country.

In the end it's up to you what you feel comfortable doing!:)  Good Luck!:)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about translations

evidence for uscis dont need be translate.
And he can translate his papers if he is flenty in english.
Read the guides here, there are a lots of example letters how you can translate yourself your papers even for aos.

From page 2 of I-129f instructions: Translations: Any document submitted to USCIS with information in a foreign language must be accompanied by a
full English translation. The translator must certify that the English language translation is complete and accurate, and that he/she is competent to translate from a foreign language into English.

Maybe it's different in the Embassy they are going to but in our case they had to be translated by a certified translator and have an official stamp on it. NO the evidence does not have to be translated but a birth certificate or divorce agreement does.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about translations

 Hi,

Does the evidence of meeting and things like that require translations? Like for instance bus tickets, rent contracts and hotel reservations. We have a bunch of them in spanish and most of the content of a whole contract or a hotel reservation looks pretty useless to me so I was wondering if it's necessary to translate the whole things or just some parts or nothing at all? Maybe just an explanation of the paper is enough? And also, can I translate or do I need to hire a translator?

 Thanks for the answers smile.png

All documents have to be translated into English. The evidence like hotel, bus tickets and things I wouldn't worry about translating them. Always use a certified translator. In other words you can't translate them.

USCIS Service CentersWhat this means!!!!!

Whoa, calm down there. Someone missed their Xanax dose this morning looks like

BTW, you gotta long way to go. I wouldn't get too wrapped up with dates right now. They are processing July 18. You have no idea how fast or slow they will go from here on out so your math is still wrong

Sorry I don't take Xanax!:) But as of the day they updated the site they were two and a half months behind so my math is right!:) True they could speed up or slow down even more!
paws057MaleRussia2013-02-11 17:21:00
USCIS Service CentersWhat this means!!!!!

July 18th date means they are processing filers from then (July 18, 2012). It does not mean you will be approved by July 18, 2013.

Yes I can read and I know what the date means! What I meant was since I filed in early October of last year the 5 months is just about up so I should be hearing something very soon. But since they changed the time from 5 months to a date (July 18,2012) then I know they are about 2 1/2 months behind!! It has nothing to do with July of this year!
paws057MaleRussia2013-02-11 16:59:00
USCIS Service CentersWhat this means!!!!!

Just freaking out the Californina processing times showed last week a 129F form took five months,,,,now they show July 18.
I sent my first package to USCIS last week in January.................Does this mean they wont even look at my case until July??????
Please tell me no!!!!!!OMG

Believe me I feel your pain!! Got my NOA1 October 4, 2012 and was looking forward to hearing her petition was approved very soon, then they changed the date to July 18th from 5 months!!! The hardest part is there's nothing you can do but wait! Patience is not one of my strongest qualities!:) By the time we are finished it might be though!:)) Hang in there people, we'll get there eventually!!

USCIS Service CentersIs Csc even open?.....

I heard that they don't really file applications at CSC or any service center. What they do is hang out, drink and smoke in the office and everyone once in a while they reach blindly into a stack of applications and send out an NOA2 to the lucky couple congratulating the winner on their advancement to the next round of the game. :D kidding...I hope.

I'd believe that if not for the smoking part!:)

USCIS Service CentersCalifornia USCIS has Stoped????????????/

No, rather than about 5 months, they are running, in my limited experienced estimation at about 8 months.

There are many here who are so totally upset with the reality but they have little affect on the process, given the current state of our governmental affairs and budgets.

Once they obtain their NOA2s and their visa approvals...we will hear little from them (my prediction) until they encounter the USCIS later after they understand that their dance with this agency has just begun. Sounds very sad and should be a Hollywood movie but it's a reality.

They belittle our personal case because we've been through this and went through at a different time. Why am I to blame for that?

I didn't see anyone bashing your personal case? I think we are all more than a little frustrated with the process is all. When I filed October 4th I was told 3-5 months now it is more like 7-9 months maybe? What is the most irritating is they are doing DACA cases for illegal aliens ahead of K1 and K3 cases for US Citizens. That's just wrong! They have processed over 150,000 DACA cases since August of last year and over 100,000 came from California. It's just politics, they wanted the votes for the last election and of course the tax money from these people. They figure we can just wait but of course they have our money already so we have no choice but to wait. We'll get there eventually but when that is no one knows?
PS: Congratulations on getting your fiancee here!:)

USCIS Service CentersUpcoming Podcast on Family-Based Visas
Hi,

Yes there is one question I would like to hear the answer for. Why in the world does a NON US citizen get more and faster service from our government than those of us that pay taxes and are US Citizens? After all they call them 'Illegals' for a reason.

oh no way! That is awful :(

Yep afraid it's true, my petition went to CSC not VSC. Really doesn't matter where it goes as long as they get moving here one of these days. I would love to have her here for the end of summer but am not sure now? I wanted to spend our birthdays together this year in the US but not sure I can get it all done before mid August? Our birthdays are one day apart, she is one year and one day younger than I am!:)

USCIS Service CentersCSC K1's delayed at least two months

Hi everyone, a bit of bad news if you filed a K1 with the California Service Center, I called them in regards to possibly expediting my case due to a medical emergency, a very friendly supervisor explained that they are running at least EIGHT weeks behind for June, July, August and September filers, and that their anticipated NOA2 approval time is now a minimum of seven months. Apparently most of the adjudicators have been pulled to deal with a backlog of Obama's Dream Act cases allowing children of illegal immigrants to obtain access to work permits which they have been flooded with, just bad timing I guess. All K1's filed in Spring of 2011 were approved within 100 days. I'll update this info if I hear back from them in regards to my expedite request, but plan on a minimum of seven months for a NOA2. :help:

Yes and being an early October filer makes it even worse. Looks like a fall interview, maybe?
paws057MaleRussia2013-03-29 14:54:00
USCIS Service CentersInteresting

You can check the the delay projection and scenario calculator threads in my profile to get a better sense of the potential processing time frames. The VJ tool is useful, but it relies entirely on the VJ sample population and lacks an ability to adjust based on exogenous information. It also does not allow you to see the assumptions it is relying upon.

In the end, there is no single right knowable answer because any answer depends upon the future I-129F completion rate at the CSC, and that rate has swung as high as 3400+ per month and then down to lows around 400 per month (and likely even lower right now). But the projections I did and the calculator I made will allow anyone to see how they will fare under a range of scenarios. The calculator even lets you tweak the scenarios based on what you find out from VJ or any other source (e.g., lowering the estimated number of completions in February and March to recognize that they were almost certainly the lowest on record, etc.)

That is a pretty impressive spreadsheet!:) Thanks
paws057MaleRussia2013-04-14 18:16:00
USCIS Service CentersInteresting

VJ timeline is made up of everyone elses timelines, people put in future dates past dates and incorrect dates all the time. Lots of people don't even fill it out.

That is true. I'm still hoping the May-June one was right. :)
paws057MaleRussia2013-04-14 17:48:00
USCIS Service CentersInteresting
I checked my Timeline the other day and it said May-June for approval (NOA2)
Now it says this- 'Processing
Estimates/Stats : Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between March 12, 2013 and April 12, 2013*' . Interesting since the date has passed already and the CSC is not moving any faster. I guess it does say 'Estimate' though.
Don't worry people we will get to that NOA2 someday, soon I hope. :D

USCIS Service CentersWaiting - how do you manage your fiancee's expectations?

My fiancee is Russian too and of course waiting is quite familiar to her as well. But is a little difficult to explain to her how it took only a week to get her Schengen visa for our upcoming holiday but the American visa will likely take 8-10 months. Makes us look worse than Russia in the bureaucracy department which is quite a trick! Overall I think the waiting itself is ok with her but she's stressing out understandably about her son and school. As long as they are here by August I have no worries but if it pushes into September or October then there will be some issues (which we will deal with when the time comes of course).

Yes they are used to the 'red' tape so to speak. (no pun intended) Well we are at the 6 month mark now and was really hoping to have her interview in April-early May. Not going to happen. Now I'm hoping for July since I have a vacation then and can go to Moscow to be with her during her interview. It is a little hard to explain to them but they will understand. It is hard to believe we are worse in the bureaucracy department though. We are dealing with the government and they don't do anything fast on either side of the ocean. It would be a lot different if there was a child involved, with school and all that, so I wish you good luck!:) We will get there eventually.

USCIS Service CentersWaiting - how do you manage your fiancee's expectations?

I'm just wondering how everyone who's been waiting a long time has been managing their fiancee's/fiance's expectations? We'll be coming up on 5 months in a couple if weeks and so far I haven't said anything about the delay because I was off VJ for a few months and didn't realize there was a problem until recently. Today my fiancée asked me directly about when we'll get to the next step so I felt I had to mention the delay. I did soften it by mentioning the December approvals but I also let her know it could be 2-3 more months. This was by email so I don't yet know her reaction but I hope it doesn't disappoint her too much. Thankfully I'll be seeing her in a week so we can discuss this in person. Any suggestions for keeping her spirits up?

To be honest I told her right away when I found out. Before I went to visit her at New Years the CSC still said 5 months which meant in early Feb. we should be hearing something. Wrong! When the USCIS did their web site update in early January it said July 18th just like it does now. I was the one that was pissed. That threw my schedule all out of whack. It took me a while to explain this to her but she is doing fine with it. We just have to wait longer is all. Since she is Russian she knows how to wait but that doesn't mean she likes it. :) So in a couple of weeks I will go for another visit but I had really hoped this would be for her interview but that will have to wait. Hopefully they will get back up to speed very soon and I can still get her here this summer. :)

USCIS Service CentersLetter to USCIS - please share

Hi everyone,

I am a US citizen who, for the past 8 months, have had my first experience with the US immigration system. I married a Thai citizen and feel that the system punished American for marrying non-Americans. I wrote a public letter to USCIS explaining what happened to me and included resources for US citizens to speak up if you are one of the hundreds of thousands of people who has to go through the same agony as we did. I would appreciate if everyone would share this with as many people as possible.

ThankUSCIS (dotcom)

Thank you.
Adam

OMG! I loved the letter and SO very true as well! Thanks. :)

USCIS Service CentersWhy CSC doesnt keep doing Dec with august to nov?

Maybe I'm a bit selfish but 1 week ago my NOA2 should come in June 15th and yesterday it jumped to July 11th :\

I want also people of August to December get their NOA2 but CSC could keep doing them and ours too. People of Jan already is completing 4 months so if people of Dec got their NOA2 within 4 months its fair Jan filers get their too.

I'm Feb filer and just want my time comes.

I'm sure CSC can make august and dec this month, next month sept and october and in june nov and jan. I've seen the graphics and august with 30% and dec with 40% of approvals, and july with 60%.

http://www.visajourn...filers.php?cfl=

Just to think I'll have to wait more 3 months it makes me crazy...It has been 1 year I don't see my fiance :'(

Good lucky to everyone.

If you are going by the VJ timeline, don't. It jumps all over the place all the time it seems. To be honest I'm an October filer and would like to see them get done with July, August and September then hurry through October!:) It's been 6 months and counting now and some here have waited 7-8 months. Of course if they really got moving they could do that quickly the question is, will they?
I do understand you missing your fiancee though, but all of us miss our fiancee's to. We will get there eventually. :)

I am ready to file my 129F Petition on Monday. I am already getting a little depressed hearing how long everyone has been waiting!((

I guess it is my turn to wait now!

Congrats to all who got approved recently.

Don't get discouraged already you just started. Believe me I would love to see my petition get approved soon but I do believe they are moving faster now that they sent all the DACA stuff to Texas. You never know they may be back on the 5 month timeline soon. It's a learning experience and will just make it sweeter when we are together at last!:) Hang in there :D

USCIS records indicate the I129F case WAC******************** is currently under review with an officer. Your constituent should receive a notice of action* within 45 days.

Interesting....Of course they could have said that since they received it as well. After all it does say 'Initial Review'. Hopefully you will get approved soon.:)

USCIS Service CentersThe CSC I-129F Frenzy

I wonder if this sudden flood of approvals, if it keeps up, will lead to a new backup downstream at NVC and then at the consulates. I'm not complaining, it's just a thought.

I wouldn't think so. The current back log of I-129F's is caused by the DACA applications so the NVC has had it pretty easy for a while now. As far as the Embassy goes I would think that would depend on the country your loved one is from. Some may be very busy and others maybe not so much. Let's just hope things go a little smoother the rest of the way to the finish. :)

Sure hope that's some kind of mistake.

Well the way the graph looks it's not a mistake but I can't believe they think it's going to take that long. I would say it's 6.4 not 64. 64 months is over 5 years and even our government is not that slow, although it feels like it at times. :)

USCIS Service CentersEstimated adjudication bumped up (a tiny bit) for VSC

My timeline now says Sept 26-Oct 17.  WOOT.  If nothing else, VJ is soothing my obsessive compulsive status checking. blush.png

Yes the timelines can help but please be aware they can go the other way as well. We filed in October 2012 and at first the timeline said Feb for approval then around the middle of January it jumped to July for approval. It ended up being approved April 26th and the timeline said June something.

The DACA has really thrown the system into a very long a drawn out affair for us K1 filers. You would think being US citizens we would come first but that's not the case for some reason? I mean we are following the rules to get our loved ones here in this country so it should be easier right?

I guess what I'm trying to say is to be patient and believe me I know it's not easy. But in the end when we are beside our loved ones here in this country it will be worth all the waiting we had to do!:)

I wish you good luck!:)

USCIS Service CentersFor crying out loud, VSC!!!!

Has anyone been waiting as long as we have without there being an RFE contributing to the delay?!  We are both very good-natured, but this is starting to get very old!  Filed 11-1-2012.  Received NOA1 11-5-2012.  And absolutely NOTHING, NO ACTIVITY WHATSOEVER, since!  We've called, filed E-requests, contacted our congressman, filed with ombudsman (or whatever that's called), clicked our heels together, wished upon a star, and still...NOTHING!  I think the most frustrating part is to always get the same response, which is basically no response.  At best, we have the website read back to us.  There is absolutely no way of even knowing if our file is on someone's desk or heaved out of the car window of a disgruntled worker, and seemingly there is no real recourse or way of finding out.  Sorry for the vent.  But seriously, C'MON VSC!!!!!  CRIMINY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Believe me I feel your pain. It took 6 months, two weeks and a couple of days to get our NOA2 and you are right, there was nothing in between the NOA1 until it was approved. Not one word from USCIS, no 'touches' nothing. It is frustrating to say the least! The DACA's have every service center going at a snails pace right now for K1 filers.

Good luck!:)
