PhilippinesHelp?? Passport not attached to Envelope
QUOTE (Arrta @ Mar 12 2008, 09:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Charry just got her Passport from Delbros.
When she got the Passport it was attached to the envelope that you can not open.
The delivery guy said it was fine to detatch the passport from the envelope!!!

One of the guides I have read about the CFO Seminar says something along the lines of when photocopying your passport becarefull not to detatch the envelope from the passport or you will have to have it reattached at the embassy...

Should I be worried that Charry did this?
Anyone who has gone through the process already, have you had trouble if this was done?

Thanks

Marc

You should get an envelope within an envelope. The brown one with the corner cut off is the one you should NOT open. The one that has the passport ( the outer one) is OK to open. As long as you do not open the brown one with the corner cut off you are fine.

Why yes, I do!! Take a look at Gary C, he is being touched constantly also.. and a few others I have seen. If I get an NOA-2 out of it soon, it's all good. If not, harassment lawsuit???

On the down side, another RFE... I pray not...

Damn William, arent you starting to feel like you have been molested? You get touched more than anyone I have seen. Really hope it is good news for you soon.

I'm still hoping Gary C's "prediction" a couple of days ago turns out to be true. He predicted that the touches would stop for a period of time, and then the NOA2 will arrive!
Well my touches stopped, so things are falling into place perfectly....Im waiting for the fulfillment of prophecy... ....Gary?

My touches stopped also. Who knows? I was just guessing but I was just thinking about what I would do if I ran the CSC. The evidence fits the theory but we won't know until it happens.

My point is that none of the NOA2's had todays date on them! All from yesterday and today have July 25 as the approval date. Surely they approved petitions today, why didn't they have July 26 on them? I think it's like the IMBRA RFE's a while back. I got mine in the mail 2 days before I got the email telling me they sent it! I am thinking that they have a lot more that have been approved and the emails just haven't gone out yet. I have a picture in my head of a 25 year old IBM mainframe computer that has less power than a calculator that they are using. It just can't keep up!

USCIS Service CentersI'm confused. If CSC is so backlogged due to IMBRA . . .

Who knows why the USCIS dose the things they do. From the research I have done it looks like there are 3 time the number of adjudicators at CSC than VSC so perhaps the transfered the cases thinking that it will help balance the work load.

If thats the case why are they approving VSC cases in 2 weeks while some of us are still waiting after 6 months? It's crazy!

I am sure most of you have seen the new USCIS web site. I noticed a new feature that is suppose to tell you processing times. Looking at the times for the ROC petition made me laugh though. For both the CSC and VSC it is saying 6 months. That just happens to be the exact "goal" that it displays right next to it. Oh well.

United KingdomU.S. Citizen not allowed in U.K.
I got the dreaded SSS one time on a trip back from Indonesia. At every airport I went through I was searched. When I made it back the the US my POE was SanFrancisco. They pulled me aside, opened my bags and searched EVERYTHING! I thought I was gonna get the "rubber glove treatment". I am white, middle class and as "American" as you get. I commented that I had been really given the treatment on the whole trip and the agent told me that they randomly choose people for extra checks. That is where the SSS came from. The computer just spit it out and it became "my turn".

Mexico, Latin & South Americaphone cards to call mexico!!!
If your loved one has broadband internet in their home then I recomend Vonage. I sent Luz a vonage adapter and now she has a local number! I can call her and she can call me as much as we want! They have 2 different accounts. For $25 you get unlimited calling in the US and Canada and for $15 you get 500 minutes of outgoing calls. Incoming is unlimited. Just order an adapter from Vonage, tell them to make the number local to you and send it to your loved one. Works great for me and MUCH cheaper than calling cards. We talk for hours each day!

Okay to sum it up here is our situation. My fiancee and I have filed and been approved for our K1 but now we're facing the citizenship problems. If she comes here and we're married (with her being Belgian) she has to give up her citizenship there? :/ What if things were to not work out, what comes then? Would she not be able to return to her country? We were wanting to both keep citizenship though and possibly myself get citizenship there also so that we could be free to live in either area depending on what we saw fit with our families etc. How would I be able to get citizenship there, and I can keep mine along with having theirs, correct? Any input is appreciated, thanks a lot.

Your SO will not become a US citizen just because she comes in on a K1 visa. To become a US citizen she must naturalize. That is something entirely different. When she gets her K1 approved she will get a visa to the US for the purpose of marrying you. After that she must file to adjust her status if she wants to stay. At that point she will get her "green card". That is the legal permanently residence status. She will still be a citizen of her home country. For that entire time she will still be a Belgian citizen and the only way that will change is if she files and is approved for naturalization.

Oh wow okay, thats great news then. In the meantime we were still curious about myself getting Belgian citizenship possibly. My entire family and myself are all going over there to visit and stay for a bit here at the end of March. After a couple weeks they are going back but I was wanting to stay until her paperwork and everything is finished up there but we were also hoping to maybe just stay a little longer to spend more time with her family too. I can only be there for 3 months though just like when she comes here I believe, but also just for the future in case we decide that we would like to go stay with her family for 6 months or something sometime over there it would be nice to at least have the option ya know? Is there any possible way for us to go about this or do you know by chance? lol thank god for VisaJourney though, its answered ohhhhh so many questions for us younger couples that really have absolutely no clue how this all works when coming into it.

Gaining citizenship in any country isn't a snap decision to make. It usually takes years and most of the time it involves giving up your citizenship of your birth country. Although dual citizenship is possible is some instances it isn't easy to do. If you want to stay in Belgium for an extended time just get a visa. You can't change citizenships like you would change socks.

Asia: SouthVery new and still learning: I-129F for two-week visit?

Hi All,

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I have tried searching not only this forum, but others as well. I'm trying to figure out the best way to get my Thai girlfriend (21, college student with a career in the military) over here to America for a two-week vacation.

As I understand, the I-129F form is only if I intend to marry her within 90 days of her coming over, but we don't plan on actually getting married until she finishes college (4 years from now). If not the I-129F form to get her a visa for a visit, how shall I go about doing so? Is there any way to "sponsor" her visit, along with her doing her part in showing her ties (ie bank account, job, school, acknowledgment and time off from work specifically for vacation abroad) to Thailand to make a compelling argument that she'll return?

Also, if the I-129F is the only way to get her here, what are the repercussions if she simply goes back to Thailand instead of marrying me within that 90 day period? Do I get in trouble, legally, or does that pretty much damn any chances of her returning for another visit, or eventually coming here permanently for marriage? Thanks in advance everyone -- I've really been trying to learn as much as I can, but my brain is full and I need to ask questions now instead of more force-feeding info.

Fiance visas are only for bringing an intended spouse to the USA. It isn't used for a vacation visa. Any other use and it is considered visa fraud. If you get her one and she goes back and then at a later time you decide to marry her a thing called IMBRA will cause you trouble. There are limitations for multiple K type visas and you would have to apply for a waiver if it was sooner than 2 years. If there were more than 2 fiance visas in your past then you would need a waiver regardless of how long it has been.
I would suggest that you try for a visitors visa. Those are applied for and granted by the US embassy in your girlfriends country. You should contact the embassy in her country for details of how you apply. You can also go to her countries US embassy web site for more information. If a visitors visa is hard to get from her country (many are near impossible for single women) then your only option is to visit her yourself.

Unfortunately that would probably be my soon-to-be ex-wife. I'm not sure I can count on her. I'm thinking of going to the court and leaving a pre-paid Fed-Ex envelope with them.

I am going there next month. I have never been to this General Santos City before. My fiance lives in Olongapo City and I feel perfectly safe there. Manila is very relaxed for Americans. I suggest her meeting you there. I fly NorthWest and get pretty good deals there. I just looked at JAL from chicago for the first 2 weeks of June. Just under $1100. That is much better than the deal I got. I may need to see about changing my tickets.

I have been through Manila 6 times now. The shortest time from walking off the airplane to walking out the door was 45 minutes. The longest was 1.5 hours. It all depends on how many flights arrive at the same time. Getting through immigration is the real hassle. Takes forever sometimes. Customs is just a walk-through after getting your bags.

For 2 years I sent money over Westernunion. I don't know why they denied $500. I have sent as much as $2400 for a medical emergency although that had to be done over the phone rather than online. On my last trip I just gave her a ATM card from my bank. They only charge a $2 ATM fee and the exchange rate is the same as the official rate. Works very good for her.
