Someone correct me if I am wrong here but I always thought that any translation needs to be done by a "certified" translator? I know that whenever something gets translated to many times errors get introduced. (lost in the translation) You better make sure the translation complies with the requirements.


I believe the requirement is actually "certified" by someone who is competent (or some word similar) in both languages. I know it does not have to be "certified" by a translator who has been "licensed" by some governmental authority. If I were competent in both Ukrainian and English there would be no technical restriction on me doing it myself. It seems the rules are a little "loose" in this area. Anyway, she had hers done at a business that does this professionally and the translations are full of official looking seals.

This is what the I-129 form says. Not really sure what the standard it though.

Translations. Any foreign language document must be accompanied by a full English translation that the translator has certified as complete and correct, and bythe translator's certification that he or she is competent to translate the foreign language into English.

I keep noticing the relatively same numbers left for Apr, May, Jun - and it just seems a bit odd to me. Logically I would think there would be less Apr than say Jun - as there is with July vs Aug. So is there some hidden arbitrary thing going on with a few filings each month? Are they pulling aside a few and doing whatever with them, hmm?

I don't know what they are up to. I was one of those from March. When I got my NOA2 I was one of only 6 or 7 left and I just sat there and waited for 177 days. It was a major pain.

Sorry you are waiting so long Jasal. Sometimes life just isn't fair. But you have to look at things from other peoples point of view. I waited 6 months for my NOA2 but I never got angry because it seemed everyone else was moving ahead of me. Their victory is not my defeat. Just hang in there. Yours will come and when it does the board will give you your congrats.

At least you recieved your IMBRA RFE. I have not received anything, since the transfer of our paperwork in June!!!

Honestly, I dont believe in anyone anymore!!! I wrote my Senators and they say that CSC is reviewing files in STRICT CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER! Then I go to this website, and people are getting approved, who file in August???

I dont know anymore, maybe we are just not meant to be :(


Thanks for all the support everyone. I hadn't thought of sending your report Gary, that's a great idea. My contact at my Senator's office has really been great, she actually emailed me awhile back to make sure I got our NOA2. When I told her we had not she freaked and said she would start an inquiry. Her inquiry back in October actually prompted a touch so that was nice to see that someone actually picked up our file. And she has kept after them the past 30 days too.

We can handle the wait for the Manila embassy. At least we know it's pretty much 4 to 5 months from NOA2. It's really just the not knowing that's the hardest I think.

To both of you here is what I suggest. Go to my web site and download the latest list in MSWord format. Print it out, it's about 17 pages I think, and hilight your names. Mail it to both your senators and your congressmen with a detailed letter explaining your circumstances. This is why I do these lists, not just so people can track their progress but to help those like you that are getting screwed. This worked for me and I hope it will work for you. My Luz is from the Philippines where divorce is not allowed. She had her previous marriage annulled. My lawyer had us submit the annullment papers with the I-129F. Weather you click single or divorced really does not matter as far as I can see as long as they know you are free to marry.

I received an e-mail from the US embassy in Uruguay and they told me they do not do the direct filing and I need to pursue a fiance visa. Figures. I'm going to get started on that before the end of this month.

Now that your case is out of the USCIS and onto the NVC you will no longer get updates from them.
Since your petition is going to Manila here are some ways to check your status.

US department of state (check status of case once Manila has received it)
202-663-1225 press 1, 0 , 0 (for the options)

US embassy Manila (immigrant visa unit)
(632) 528 6300 extension 5184 or 5185.

Our records indicate that we have not yet received your response to the instruction package (Packet 3) that was sent to you on 08 November 2006, at the address mentioned in your email. You will not be eligible to be scheduled for an interview until you complete and return the necessary documents. You may obtain a duplicate instruction package (Packet 3) at http://mumbai.uscons...ov/ivforms.html, if you wish.

I think Manila does things differently. They don't send a packet 3. They just scedule your interview and medical then send a packet 4. Packet 4 has all the immagration forms that are needed at the interview. Please, someone correct me if I am wrong here.
