Which number should I contact the US Embassy on to see if my case has been received by them?

You don't have to but I would personally say to wait until it has to make sure no paperwork gets missed.

When you pay, you get sent the receipt by email so you can wait at least a little if you want.

Hmm.. okies thanks. Hope they receive it soon then :star:

Don't forget about this magical page - http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

As it says, you should include a cover letter stating your email address/contact details, date of your wedding and date of the medical examination. Mine was exactly that - 'Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to confirm my readiness for interview, and attach the following forms... My medical exam is booked for xxx. I have a provisional wedding date of xxx and am contactable on xxxx'. Nothing fancy!

Yeah I keep forgetting to check on the embassy website so thanks for the reminder and hmm okies, that seems easy enough. Also I notice you have your interview next week, good luck with that :)

United KingdomLondon 2012- K1s from NOA2 to interview thread

I mailed my DS2001 with all the other forms and included a cover letter stating my medical date. I received my interview date 9 days after the Medical, 4 days after they received the Medical results.

Others have done it differently.

So if I were to include a cover letter letting them know of my medical date, what else would I need to state on it? Are there any examples of cover letters I could look at?

United KingdomLondon 2012- K1s from NOA2 to interview thread

ok. have editied. might be worth putting on the front page.

Once When NA02 is received?

1. The approved petition will go to NVC. This is the “hand-off” from USCIS to the US Department of State (DOS) who sends it to the US Embassy in London. Our USCIS online tracking number won’t work now because DOS is over the case now for issuance of a visa via the Embassy in London.

2. The NVC will send a letter informing you that they have sent the petition to London. NVC will assign a new case number starting with LND (for London). Once I have this number I can book my medical. The Embassy in London will pass the petition on to the Immigrant Visa Unit (IV).

3. The IV unit in London will open the file and log our case. They will send me a letter stating that they have received the file and that I may apply for a K1 visa by following the instructions on their website.

4. I will follow the instructions given which includes filling in visa application forms (DS-156, DS157, DS-156K, and DS-230, Part 1 only) to the London Embassy. They start with DS because they are Department of State forms.

5. My medical exam will take place at the Knightsbridge clinic in London. I must take my immunizations history and my police record to the medical. Once the medical is complete the doctor will complete medical forms DS-2053, DS-3024, DS-3025 and DS-3026 that will be sent to the embassy. During the medical appointment I will be given a photocopy of the completed DS-3025 immunization record as this will be needed when filing for Adjustment of Status.

I will inform the embassy that I am ready to interview and have all the required documents in hand by completing Form DS-2001. It is mailed along with a cover letter to the IV Unit at the embassy. See the K1 instructions on the website to know what information should be in the cover letter.

6. The embassy will send a letter to me with an interview date. I must then call the £1.23/min line and pay the visa fee $240 by credit card before I attend the interview.

7. For my interview in person at the Embassy I will need to I will need to put together and bring the I-134 prepared by my US fiancé along with two proofs of her income, the documents listed on the embassy website which include , my passport, my long form birth certificate, my police record. In almost all cased you will not need to provide evidence of your relationship to the London embassy so don’t worry about it unless you can put that info together very quickly.

8. When the embassy approves the K-1 at the interview, they will issue the visa typically within a week after the interview and return my passport along with a package which cannot be opened. Once I receive the K-1 Visa I will enter the US at any time within six months of the visa being issued.

So when the time comes to send off all the DS Forms to the Embassy, could I send the DS-2001 at the same time and put down when I have a medical scheduled or do I have to mail it after the medical?

United KingdomLondon 2012- K1s from NOA2 to interview thread

1. Post #1 has a list for the USC. Go back to the first page. That's all the USC needs to send.

2. Take the photos to the interview. Take all personal documents to the interview, even if the form says to attach. London prefers to "attach" them when you hand them over at the interview.

3. I can't remember either. :P

Okay thanks and haha..

Okay.. after reading through most of this thread, I have found some info to be quite helpful but I am still unsure of a few things:

1.) We should be expecting our NOA2 fairly soon so what exactly does my Fiance, the US Citizen Petitioner need to do and/or obtain and should he do so asap so he can mail them over to me asap?

2.) I know it's going to be awhile before the Embassy receives our case and I have to send off the required DS Forms but, I have prepared them all before hand anyways. Any-who, on a couple of the DS Forms I notice there is space for a photo so do I need to attach one to them when I send them off?

3.) And I can't remember what else I wanted to ask lol..

ChinaWhat documents to bring to USA? & question about cellphone =]

Okay, so we finally purchased flight tickets for the 24th so my fiancee will be here then.

When she lands here in the United States, she'll be going through San Franciso international airport as her Port of Entry. We know to bring the Visa Packet to show at POE, now in terms of being able to file for social security number and doing our adjustment of status.

What does she need to bring in terms of important documents?

I just know perhaps her Birth Certificate and thats pretty much about all I can think of, what else should she bring?

Another question about the cellphone, so when she arrives here, I want her to be able to contact me because she'll be on a layover in San Franciso for about 7 hours, I hate not having any way to contact her since she doesn't have a sim card that works in the U.S.A.

She does have an unlock GSM iPhone, at first I thought about sending her a sim card but its a little too late now since it won't arrive in time for her to fly, how did anyone go about doing this? I heard of companies at the airport that can provide her with a simcard but that's very unclear. Someone got some tips or info?

Please and Thank you's =]

Regarding AOS refer to visa journeys guide: http://www.visajourn...content/k1k3aos

Here's a link to the Social Security office's website. This shows what documentation she'll need in order to obtain a SS Card. (Be sure to click the noncitizen tab on the left hand side) http://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/ss5doc.htm

I don't know what you can do regarding the cell phone situation but airports do have public payphones which are available to use..

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Need advice

Can someone please give me some advice. We receive our Noa2 last july 16,2012.I just want to know if i can call the NVC to ask about our case? I saw some applicant got their case number in two weeks time. Im thinking to call tomorrow because its going to be a second week. Do you think think this is the right thing to do or just wait until it deliver? I just really need your advice guys. thanks alot for those who can help me.

Yes, as long as it has been two weeks it is fine to call the NVC for your case number :)
xXJulzXxFemaleUnited Kingdom2012-07-29 05:30:00
National Visa Center (Dept of State)How will I track if application left NVC?
Yes, you can track your petition from NVC to Embassy on DHL website: DHL Tracking

First you will need to call to find out the date it left the NVC. Once you know the date then you can use it as a shipping reference. Here's how you can track it on DHL:

For shippers reference you will put: EXP (date NVC said it left) (First 3 letters of month it left) followed by 2012A so for example it would be like this EXP 28 SEP2012A. You may need to play around with the date ranges or even change the date in the reference to the day or two before it actually left. Also there is no Account Number and you can try putting the shipping destination in but sometimes it prevents the results from showing so its best to search all then just scroll through all the results to see if there's any for Montreal. Hope this helps :)

PhilippinesBiometric appointment on 11/25/2013

It's just a simple procedure of taking your fingerprints and photograph. Just make sure you take all the necessary documents. When I shown up for my original appointment the security guard would not let me through because I forgot to bring our marriage license (as I didn't think to bring it) to prove my name change so that it matched the name on the appointment letter. So that's my tip lol

Congrats on receiving your NOA2  :jest:

Me and my USC Fiance are also March filers and we are still waiting on our NOA2.. Also it seems like everyone else around us (both before and after) are being approved and we're being missed out. I'm trying not to think too much of it and just hoping and praying we will receive ours any day now. Today is the 129th day for us so we'll see what happens

Lucky yours was a simple RFE, you should get a pretty fast turn around. We received our RFE a week ago and had quite a few things to do on both parts. Hopefully my fiance (the USC) is sending off our reply this weekend and hoping we get a just as quick turn around :star:

Well if you haven't already then I would let them know your about to move in a months time and give them your new address (if available). As long as they know where you are going to be living during the process then they should arrange for you to do things there. Worst case scenario is you would have to travel back and forth.

So... it's 3am (UK time) and I am woken up to a text from my fiance saying that our case has been approved :D I am so happy and relieved to finally get our NOA2 :D , especially only 6 days after sending in our RFE reply as recently I have been worried about that and read that it could take up to 2 months.. but, we're at CSC and I know things are moving pretty quickly there atm. So can't wait to get the next steps of the process rolling :) :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBit of advice needed please I129f Q14
Well there are two kinds of Affidavit of Support forms.

The I-134 - This is the one her mother will need to fill out for this first part of the process. This Affidavit of Support will be based only on her income.

The I-864 - This is the Affidavit of Support form that will be used when you apply for AOS and this one is based on the total household income so her husband and his income should be included within this one.

Yes, it's the co sponsor that needs to pass the poverty line. It doesn't matter if you don't live with her, she just has to show and prove that she makes more than enough to be able to help support you until you are able to be allowed to and find work and earn your own income.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBit of advice needed please I129f Q14
Well my fiancé is currently living with his dad therefore he would of put that address for that question but we are planning to move out into our own place pretty soon after I move over, depending if he gets a raise in his current job or gets this better job that he has applied for. Anywho, if we are actually in our place by the time we get married and are ready to file for AOS (Adjustment of Status) then we would put our new address on those forms.

So for your case I would say to put her room mates address even if you have no intention of living there because 1. I think they'd rather see that you are going to live together (I know you are but I mean see the same address as stated earlier in the petition) and 2. Like us, if you actually have a place together by the time you move over and you guys get married and file for your AOS, I'd just wait until then to put a new address. I don't see why there would be anything wrong with that.

Yes, it is okay for the co-sponsor not to be living with you or even within the same state. They just have to be a USC or Permanent Resident.

Hope this helps :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 not salaried
Hmm if it's just part time work and paid hourly, then I would suggest for her employer to state on the letter it is part time work, what her hourly wage is and how many hours she works a week. Also as long as she provides something that shows and proves her income then that will be good enough.

Well question 9 on the Affidavit does say to state if you have previously submitted Affidavit's for other's so yes, I would say she needs to record these on the form and with regards to the "date submitted" I don't think they'll be that stringent about them but if she can't remember the exact date, then maybe just put the month and year.

Hope this helps :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA 2 UK-USA what happens now
What needs to be sent to the Embassy is:

DS-230 Part 1
DS-156 x2
DS-156K
DS-157 x2

If you have all the required documents needed for the visa interview (see checklist on US Embassy webiste), then you can also send form DS-2001 and a covering letter in at the same time (example of covering letter can be found somewhere).

Also since you have your LND case number then I would call and book the medical asap. What you need for medical is:

Passport
Passport sized photograph (can be UK or US Size)
Police Certificate plus copy
Copy of Immunization records
Medical questionnaire

Hope this helps :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWe are past the Processing Time date range

Then he called again, and got to speak to Tier 2 officer, but the same thing was said to him, this petition is in the regular time frame, which is 5 months, and that its status is initial review, and that no officer has been assigned to the case. They also said, to wait another 2 months before calling them again, because they will not be able to do anything for us, meaning, initiate any kind of service request, to find out what exactly is going on with the case.

That is what I originally said. The CSC normal timeframe is 5 months and you shouldn't really worry and begin to call unless its been past 5 months since you sent your petition in.

Yeah I also understand your excitement and impatientness because I got the same way sometimes but no doubt you'll get your NOA2 fairly soon :) There may be a couple of employee's who are working on the remainder of the June petitions and they just haven't come across your case yet but worry not, you'll get your case approval soon :star: . I know that CSC has sped up processing since we got our approval but like I said you shouldn't really worry unless the 5 month timeframe has been and gone.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWe are past the Processing Time date range

Hi VJ'ers. We are now past the date range that VJ estimates for our I129F processing time. At the bottom of our Timeline page on VJ, it says "If this date range has passed or your application is past due per USCIS processing times then you should consider calling the USCIS to inquire on your petition." But we are not sure about which number to call. I tried calling the number on the NOA1 letter, but all I get there is a recorded status that is exactly the same message as our USCIS account status on the web.

Don't forget that it is an estimate for a reason. Just because it says that you could get approved within that date range, doesn't mean that you actually will. It's an estimate based of everyone else's timelines and how long it's taking them to get an approval. There were a couple points in time where we went past our date range but we did not worry about it since it was just an estimate.

If you're worried then go ahead and call and try and find out some information to help put you at rest but I say not to worry and just patiently wait a little while longer and your day will finally come where you get your NOA2 :) Don't forget that the processing timeframe for the CSC is 5 months so it's suggested not to call them unless you are past the 5 month timeframe.
