K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTravelling after I-129 marriage
Hey Everyone,

Currently awaiting my NOA2, should be any day now, and putting together plans for the wedding. What we are doing is getting married in the USA, and the following week have a party in the UK for family who couldnt make it to the wedding. I havent really thought about my change in status or the next stage after this tbh, but my question is this - will there be a problem travelling back to the UK after we've been married? Im aware we'll need to prove that we've been married, but I don't want to be denied back to the USA?

Any advice would be fantastic, thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRequest for Evidence
Hey Everyone,

So we're currently waiting for NOA2 and it'll be 6mnths on 6th Aug since receiving NOA1...checked the USCIS website which states there is a request for evidence! I rang them, and they can't tell me anything as Im not the petitioner. Can anyone tell me what reasons/sorts of evidence others have needed to send? Is this just concerning the petitioner or could it be a problem with me? I'm just a little worried as it's taken them so long to get in touch?

Thanks for any advice/info - I know no-one here can give me answers as to why this has happened to us, but your own experiences would be appreciated!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan you visit USA after approval?
Hey everyone,

Just sending off paperwork to US Embassy in London...and a thought had come to me...I'd like to visit my fiance in November for his birthday, and we are hoping to have had the interview by then. After a few delays, we were expecting to get married in November, but have pushed the wedding back to March, and I'm looking to move over in December. This is my question...if I'm approved before November, can I still travel to the USA on a tourist visa, or will I be forced to start my fiance visa then? I say I cant go without starting the fiance visa, my fiance says I should be able to come on a tourist visa? Im confused - any advice?

Thanks, Lisa

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA 2 UK-USA what happens now

They were likely referring to the IV_15 page on the Embassy site, which lists the forms mentioned upthread: http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

That makes perfect sense now I see it on a page...I've got all of the info now, thanks everyone!!

Would have been easier if the letter could have been re-sent, but nevermind visajourney helps again \o/ yay :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA 2 UK-USA what happens now
Hi Everyone,

I know this question has probably been asked many times before, but Im a little confused. We have our NOA2 letter, A number and LND number. Instead of me receiving my next instruction, I received a letter stating that the embassy had not heard from me...so I called the embassy and they stated that the letter was asking me to fill out the following forms: DS230I, DS156, DS157, IV15 and I134. My question is this, do all forms need to be sent at the same time, or can I send some and take the affidavit of support with me to the Embassy, and when can I book the medical, and do I take the police cert with me or send it with the DS230 form?

Sorry if this sounds silly, but I dont have the letter to refer to, and the Embassy were unable to send a duplicate?!?!

Thanks for your help!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support
Hey Everyone,

Coming towards the end of the K1 Visa, I had my medical on Monday, and am looking to arrange the interview in London. I have a question about my fiance sending the affidavit of support - does he have to send it via the post direct to the embassy, or am I able to bring it home with me when I visit him next week for 7 days, and send it via Royal Mail? Also I want to let the Embassy know Im ready for the interview to get one asap, but what would happen if Im in the states, do the Embassy contact you via post, or can you arrange the appointment over the phone?

Thanks for your advice - it feels good knowing Im coming towards the end of this stage and I get to be with my love!!

Thanks, I think I'll need to speak to Citizens Advice, I know it's important to be responsible and really don't want to have to go down this route...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 and Bankruptcy
Hey Everyone,

I cant believe I'm asking this, but I need to weigh up my options...Im most of the way through the K1 process, and am finding it difficult to sell my home. Ive thought about renting it out, but the monthly costs would still be about £300 plus. I could either leave the house on sale or hand the keys back, and end up paying a deficit of 15k.

My question is this...if I file for bankruptcy, will this affect my adjustment of status or anything in the future? Please, constructive information only, as I feel bad enough asking the question as my home is my responsibility.

Thanks guys

Hi, its the London Embassy...I re-checked the Embassy website and that states about 3 weeks and I have to wait for a letter for instruction, I may still give them a cheeky call. Thanks :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat Happens Now?
Hey Everyone,

So I'm most of the way through the K1 process...had my medical and sent away the final packet with form and letter to say I'm ready for interview. I did this a couple of weeks ago now. My question is this - does the embassy contact me with an interview date, or do I call the embassy to arrange and pay? I'm confused about this and don't want to delay the process more than necessary.

Thanks, Lisa

Hey guys, finally getting closer to the finish line! I can't find any info on this. I have my original birth certificate, but it seems to be the shorter version. Do I need the extended version, if I can only present the short how will that impact my interview this coming Tuesday? Thanks guys :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInterview Prep for Tuesday

Giving you LONDON specific answers

Birth certificate short and long version and photocopies. The version with your parent's names on it.
Passport, do I need a photocopy of this? No photocopy
2 US size photos.
Police certificate and photocopy.
Vaccination form. NO. Use for AOS
I134 and proof of fiances income not mine.
Payment receipt and photocopy.
DS230 part 2 pages 3 and 4. 2 copies. NO. Throw those away. Never needed for K1
Copies of all forms from I129 pack. NO
Emails, Skype conversations and recent photographs together. Probably won't be looked at but suit yourself

Is there anything I'm missing? I'm don't want to leave anything out!
Have you changed your name, been in the military, been arrested or cautioned, been married before?

Thanks Nich-Nick...I have the birth cert with my parents names on it. I also have police details from a caution, detailing everything, no name change or military background, so it looks like I'm good? I had a panic earlier in the week as I didn't have the full birth cert, but I do now. What about the ds230 as it asks youto sign it in front of the clerk?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAdjustment of Status

Smashing - that's great thanks...I was questioning the 'optional' part of the checklist, and when I was reading the instructions it didn't sound right, but after reading again it makes sense, form filled and put in pack...phew, glad that's done, thanks for your help :) enjoy the weekend!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAdjustment of Status

Hey Everyone,

Just sitting down to do my AOS pack and I have a couple of questions (again?  I know)...I'm currently in the US, married etc, but would like to go back to the UK asap to have a wedding party there...now I understand I have to adjust my status, and was under the impression this would take aprx 4 months...but lookig again and talking to people who have been through the same thing, they suggested a year!!!  How long usually is it until I get the all clear to go back?

So going through my pack, I have copy of passport, K1, birth cert, marriage cert, I-129f:.   have completed: G-1145, I-485, G-325a, I-864, I-765...now do I complete I-131, or is this just for business and emergencies...I dont think Homeland would consider a party as an emergency LOL!!!

Any advice would be fantastic :) thanks in advance :)
