Suspension? Detention? Police reports? When did this come about? blink.gif

I remember simply fighting. School didn't bother with any of it, so the situation was solely in the hands of the students. If you were bullied and wanted it to stop, you fought back or you continued to get bullied. That was how it was handled. I guess things have changed a little...

Heh, you aren't _that_ old. tongue.gif

All that stuff is just for stuff that happens in or around school - or if you tell.

My parents will never know how many bruises I had, or how many times they weren't from me just being clumsy.

We're a very tight community of parents though and I am pretty close with most of the kids and their parents. We all know eachother and we all watch out for one anothers children.

That's really the key isn't it

I think it is. It takes a community to raise a child, I truly believe that.

So many people these days don't know their neighbors. I am kind of afraid to leave our neighborhood just because the community aspect of it is nice. I haven't experienced it anywhere else.

It's easier to not know or care, plus that way they don't have to find out what monsters their kids are while they are busy pretending to be parents of the decade.

Maybe I'm jaded tho.

I miss having photoshop, I think that is what I would like for Christmas.

Photoshop is quite pricey, if you are looking for something similar and having 85-90% of the features, I recomend Gimp strongly.

It does everything I need from an image editor for sure.

Peachey even used it to do our save the date cards!

QUOTE (DeadPoolX @ Dec 15 2009, 08:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
So... I was talking with a friend from the U.S. and she's having some bullying problems with her kid (he's being bullied, not doing the bullying). I assumed she was asking me what to do since I was bullied -- both psychologically and physically -- for years. It seemed in the end she didn't want my advice after hearing it.

What did I tell her? I said her kid needs to break the bully's nose.

It's true, too. Bullies don't listen to reason and they certainly don't care about whose feelings they hurt. Bullies DO understand violence and that works. I know it did for me.

Unfortunately, a lot of very misguided people have tons of bad advice, such as...
Ignore the bully
You know when this works? Never. I've never once seen a bully leave someone alone because they're being ignored. If nothing else, this only encourages the bully.

Try being nice to him and that'll throw him off guard
Nice idea, but it doesn't work. Sure, you can be nice to him and he'll throw a very friendly punch at your head.

Talk to him and let him know how he's making you feel
I'm sorry if this insults anyone here, but that has to be the single dumbest thing anyone could do. The entire reason the bully is picking on you is that he hopes he can hurt you. That's his goal! Letting him know he's doing an excellent job of it certainly won't deter him.

Ask a teacher for help

Good luck with that. Most teachers won't do anything unless they see the act as it takes place and bullies aren't stupid. They know enough to avoid being seen by school staff while tormenting others. In addition, teachers don't want to become involved since that means potentially risking their neck if anything goes wrong.

Get a parent involved
You could do that, but only if you want your kid to get $hit on even worse in school. Trust me, this never works and it only makes things much worse for the bullied kid.

I can personally vouch for all those methods failing, in spite of whatever experts seem to feel.

Wha'hoppen, Varba????

This month?

Fighting with Nissan Canada to get documention to let us import Peachey's car.
Fighting health insurance to get Peachey added after we're married.
Fighting car insurance to get Peachey added (so far our rate not only sky rockets for no apparent reason, but they overcharged me TWICE.) And yes, I've checked rates with 12 different companies.
Caterer canceled, asked us what we gave as a deposit so he _might_ get it back to us.
Peachey's childhood doggie friend was diagnosed with final stage lymphoma, and put to sleep.
JoP canceled our scheduled appointment for a ceremony, and we can't reschedule within the timeframe Peachey's Mom will be in town. This also screws up our health insurance plans potentially causing us to pick up temp insurance for over a month?
Peachey's mom might not even be able to help us move and come down for the ceremony anyhow cause Peachey's step father is very ill (been to the ER once or twice).
I decided to use a service provided by my bank, and they forgot to mention there was a retardedly high fee.
Peachey's friend's mother got diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent surgery.
I got death plague ™.
Peachey's shower broke, and wasn't fixed right away.
My car broke right before I was going to drive up to spend the holiday's with Peachey and help her move. Just got an estimate over lunch putting it at ~400$.

I know.. it's a happy time... we're getting married and don't have to wait for interviews or visas and stuff.

But for #######'s sake, this is getting stupid!

If you got a small sound activated speaker and taped it to his back so every time he made noise mysterious banjo music started playing... then maybe.

If you used rubber cement on the seats of the guys bathroom before his daily "break".. then maybe.

i thought canadians were crazy about hockey. it turns out, i was wrong....

last night while watching trutv, there was a clip about ultimate hockey. it's played under the ice! two guys put on wetsuits, wear no scuba gear, and the puck floats - so it's on the underside of the ice. and the two guys battle back and forth to get the puck into the net of the opposing player. again, there is no scuba gear.....

finland won, was unable to hear who else was playing.

We had a good laugh today - we went into our bank (Wachovia) to get a letter for the Removal of Conditions that we're about to send in. Just a simple letter stating our accounts, that both of us are account holders and for how long.

The guy was friendly and willing to help but as soon as we uttered the words 'for immigration' - we jinxed ourselves. We carefully explained that it was simply to prove that we're in deed sharing things like bank accounts after 2 years of marriage.....I actually had to go into an explanation of ROC...he ended up having to phone someone, who said that they cannot just 'write a letter' because they've been sued before......uhm what???? I'm not asking you to state my income or my bank account balances or notarize it....sheesh. If they can't say that I have an account there - I mean who can?

Anyway - so they can write us a letter but we had to sign something and he had to fax it and then they'll fax it back to the branch and we can pick up our super special letter...maybe Sat or Monday hopefully which hold up the process a few more days

They can't even print a damn letter saying we're joint account holders.....what is the world coming to?????

We tried to setup a joint account with Wachovia and it was nearly as painful. Peachey wasn't a resident at the time and it caused no end of crisis's of no solution (apparently).
