I've been watching a show called Breaking Bad, it's really, really, really good but I find that I have been adding "yo" gangster style to the end of my sentences, yo.

At first my husband and I did it for giggles but now it's starting to take. Please help me, I seem to have a problem, yo.

:\

Only thing that fixes a urban infection is a good dose of outdoors, maybe a weekend camping trip with some good old fashion cooking over the fire.

You wanna do it quickly or the infection can fester and spread. Other symptoms can include clothing style changes, enjoying the smell of smog, installing bizarre devices into cars, and holding guns sideways.

(edit: I am kidding, all you urbanites don't sick your gangs on me, yo.)

People who let their dogs bark and bark and bark and bark. I love dogs, i hope to have one one day but what I have never understood is people who toss the dog out into the back yard or the porch and let the dog bark its head off all day or whatever. Do they not realize what noise pollution that is? I can't imagine letting my dog do that, I'd be horrified at disturbing the neighbors or whatnot.
Must just be me. I can't wait until we get a house that's even further in the country so I don't have to hear the results of other people's lace of respect and courtesy...

IMO fireworks laws are for kids. It's one law I refuse to obey, and have never had any issues when breaking.

I LOOOOOOVE fireworks, and I'm not talking pansy stuff either. Only problem is how far away you have to drive to get the stuff, and how much money I drop in a good fireworks store! (Seriously, you don't want to know what my bill was last time I went!)

Hoping to get some good stuff for the first/fourth of July this year! =D

Awwww, well the effort was certainly there, that's for sure. I think it's nice that you went through all that. I'm the cook in the house and I prefer it that way -- makes me very happy to cook good, healthy things for us.

We got a grill too, a charcoal one as I prefer that adn i learned that anything that's been marinated needs to be drained REALLY well before you place it over the fire otherwise you douse your own fire out. yeah. Happened. last week. had to keep the chicken in the oven for a bit while I refired up the grill.
:)

Peachey prefers gas grills or I'da prolly went with a charcoal one as well. =)

Yeah, i'd been saying since I got here that I needed a few more things for my kitchen and my husband very sweetly ordered them and had them delivered here --- i was very touched by his paying attention and kindness so... he gets his very own chocolate bundt cake.
:D

Yes. I have learned it's a good thing to listen and pay attention when Peachey says she wishes she had X.

:D

I try to cook up something nice once a week for date night.

Last week was a colossal failure - we were supposed to watch the blue jays game together - I thought it was at 7... so I decided to grill up some chicken in pretend tailgating style - and then serve popcorn and pop during the game.

When I got home, I found out it was the top of the 7th inning (game started at 3, not 7). So I cranked up the grill, and threw the chicken on quick.

Then I came in to cut up the limes, pineapple, asparagus, and zucchini (I was trying to make a nice sweet flavor to go with the sharp jerk seasoning I rubbed into the chicken).

I looked out on the porch, and there was a LOT of smoke. Ran out and opened the lid to flames shooting 3ft high and my chicken being black. =(

The legs dropped too much fat too quickly and started a fire, so we killed the gas as best we could and let the fire burn out (took about 10 minutes) and then I tried to skin the black off the chickens and re-fire them (as they were ice cold on the inside).

Afterwards, I realized I singed off most of the hair on my right arm trying to save the chicken.

The game ended before I managed to get everything cooked, and when I served it, I realized that the foil had ripped on the veggies draining all the lime/pineapple juice so the veggies tasted bland... and the veggies hadn't cooked the whole way through. That plus the chicken had that distinct burnt to a crisp flavor going.

*sigh*

We ate it anyhow, and Peachey pretended she liked it. You had to imagine what it should have tasted like.

This week Peachey offered to give me a break from date night surprise cooking.

I hate when my boss who's in charge of technical stuff has to go offsite.

Everytime he does, everything dies.

Today, my work laptop won't boot (looks like the motherboard fried), we lost a router for an hour (afterwhich it randomly booted and connected), we lost vpn connectivity for an hour or so, and now one of my VM servers tanked for no apparent reason.

OK, I suspect a few friends at work are gay, but still in the closet. I was at work, not 3 minutes when these two, who normally, we talk sports obsessively come into my office and asks me what I thought of last nights episode of glee. My response was not even snarky (at first), I simply told him that I don't watch that show to which he incredulously asked me why not. I just couldn't let that one go by and responded "because I'm not gay". He still doesn't believe me that I don't like glee. My wife absolutely loves the show, so i've seen a couple of episodes. But, I just don't get why people, least of all men would like the show. It's absolutely horrible. For me, I went from passively ignoring the show to outright hatred of it when I heard them try to cover a Kanye West song. It was so bad, I almost punched my screen.

In other news -- I have a problem. I find that in the US there is a plethora of cool/interesting/weird products that I am obsessed with looking at. Today, buying yoghurt at the store, I had to buy a box of Good & Plenty but the spicy kind. Just sick. Freaking sickest candy I ever ate. BUT, I had to buy it because I was like, oooh, cool, I never saw that in Canada. The flavours of gum and chips and nuts, the different kinds of food and SO, SO, SOOO much of it. I fear that when i drive and go to the grocery store, it's gonna be a sh1tshow of buying ridiculous things.

That is my vent and I am sticking to it. OH and if you like the Good & Plenty candies, do NOT buy Good & Spicy.

Haha. I do that especially in the produce market.

Stores around here have been adding more and more "cultural" produce. Peachey constantly tells me to stop buying random odd shaped/colored veggies and fruits and trying to figure out what on earth you're supposed to do with them.

Aaaand now I'm on hold.

I so hate the DMV.

People work at the DMV until they get seniority, then they eat donuts until they collect their pension.

It's very agitating to work with them on pretty much every occasion. Peachey and I had one guy make us stand there while he got out a manual and read it to try and figure out how to do what we asked him to do.

I hope your lil guy is feeling better soon Misty, and hopefully without tons of extra bills! =(

I had a vent, but it seems kinda dumb after reading yours.

Oh well... maybe everyone will at least get a chuckle out of it.

I hate dealing with support staff sometimes... I called Capital One to see if I could get a cute picture for Peachey's new card that's coming, and a different picture for my card.... Below is pretty much the conversation.

<blah blah security checks, 6 diff menus, 10 minutes on hold>
Me: "Can I have different images on the two cards on my account?"
Him: "You a primary on that account?"
Me: "Yes?"
Him: "So you can use the website to upload and image for your credit card."
Me: "er... Ok, yes. But it doesn't let me say which card it's for. I would like one for hers, and one for mine."
Him: "She's the secondary on the account?"
Me: "Yes?"
Him: "Then she would get the image too sir."
Me: "No. Listen, when I go to the website, it asks what account I want to change the image for. I select it, but I can't say if I want it on my wifes card, or on my card. I want two diferrent images one for each"
Him: "Oh, you want two images?"
Me: "YES."
Him: "You can only have an image for the primary, but don't worry she'll get it too."
Me: "... No, I want two different ones."
Him: "Oh, so you want different ones for you and her?"
Me: "YES."
Him: "Well, since she's the secondary she gets yours."
Me: "So, we can't do it."
Him: "Yes, you can put an image on the card."
Me: "But not two different ones."
Him: "No, but since she's secondary she can open an account she's primary and choose her own."
Me: "Ok, so we can't do it. Do you have a way to take a suggestion for future changes? I'd like to suggest that we be able to get our own on the same account."
Him: "No sir, you can't have two different images on the same account."
Me: "No, I WANT a way to make a suggestion to like your boss for the FUTURE that we be able to."
Him: "She has to have her own account to have her own picture, sir."
Me: "...."
Him: "Is there anything else I can help you with?"

Hope you find a good place for your pup, Bern. That doesn't seem like a great situation in the least, sorry to hear it.

My vent today is my sister in law... heh, how we've had so many of those in this thread.

About a month ago, she and her two-month-old child moved on base to live with her new husband (married the weekend after Ben and I tied the knot - separate rant, though). Her moving out, honestly, was a Godsend... although I liked the company of someone being in the house, she was lazy as all hell and did nothing but complain about everything. Poor her, she has a child who demands all of her attention (at two months.. can't imagine how she'll be raving once he hits the terrible twos..), everyone expects her to not make a mess in every room she walks through, her mom is sick of paying her credit card bills and medical expenses and luxury expenses... Oh, poor her indeed.

So anyhow, this woman, who is barely over a year older than I am, is a child in most respects still. A child with a child of her own, playing house with her husband in a place they don't have to pay for... and still she manages to let everyone else manage any responsibility in her life. And honestly, live and let live... outside of being her mother's soundingboard, it doesn't affect me at all.

Except when they come to visit...

Since she's been gone, I've kept the entire house extremely tidy... or at least, as tidy as possible in a house with five people, three of which work full time alongside a teenaged boy. I'm not working right now, so I make sure that the bathroom my husband and brother-in-law and I share (which is also the guest bath) is tidy, the kitchen is tidy, living room, etc... All week is stays clean, and I've even trained most of the men in the household (yea, yea, bean me with rocks right now for that, but it's not my fault that men don't seem to be capable of it on their own) to tidy up after themselves to a degree.

But then her and her husband come to stay for the weekend and it's like a freaking tornado hits! One weekend she decided to bake here, all of the cake mixes, etc that she had left behind (and that I had every intention of using). She dirtied every pan, dish, etc... left powder in every nook of the room, and then headed back home. It was disastrous. And this weekend again, they come and have their baby stuff everywhere (I swear, they must pack the tyke's entire room when they come down for a single night), their own stuff everywhere... They bring their laundry to do - which is somewhat beyond me, as they have a washer and dryer at home - which means that our own washer/dryer are occupied all freaking weekend...

So, here it is, only 10am and I've already begun my reparations... until next weekend. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll decide to stay home. :(

That sucks. =(

Sounds like it's time to cook up ways to make them not want to come and visit. You shouldn't be their servant in any case. Geesh.

I've always tried to stay away from sleep aids. The ones that i've looked into have a window to take them and you can't really take them to help you sleep a couple of hours. I have seen a doctor about sleep problems years ago, and he suggested prescription sleep pills, but I declined because I have an addictive personality

I think every person in this modern world has sleeping troubles from time to time, it's nearly impossible not to.

I'm in the same boat as you, I _really_ don't want to get hooked on something or make myself worse off by getting dependent on drugs for sleep - or even resistant to them.

I was doing some digging around, and found these guys: Valerian Root

It's a non-addictive herb that is a minor muscle relaxer. It's one of the "natural" ingredients that alot of sleeping pills include.

I was able to find a bottle of 50 at a wallmart for ~2 bucks. They work great for me. They don't make you sleepy, or cause you to over sleep... your muscles just untense a bit.

http://en.wikipedia....Valerian_(herb)

A few google searches can help you out learning more about it... Just a suggestion cause I know where you're coming from.

*edit*
Side note, the smell is PUNGENT - you can smell it through the geletan encasing. O_o

So I call in for my 3 hour knowledge transfer conference call, understanding that I'm the one with the knowledge and the buttwipes people on the other end are the ones I'm to make understand.

I say hi, the project manager goes "oh, that's Varba and I gotta go, so take it from here Varba" *click*

So, whatever, I've been there before, it's annoying but I do my best, even figured out how to say all their names (which made me hungry for indian food - i know.... wrong... but true... ) and start talking for like 20 minutes.

Suddenly there's a loud beep, beep, beep, BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. Like eardrum shattering loud.

I go "What is that?"
*Silence*
"Hello?"
"Hi" x5
"Ok, do you guys know what that was?"
*Silence*
"No"
"Er, ok... guess I'll keep going"

*2 minutes later*
beep, beep, beep, BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP

"Ok, we have to fix this, does anyone know how to?"
"Maybe if we disconnect and reconnect."

*everyone disconnects and reconnects"
beep, beep, beep, BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP

"Well, why don't you just continue anyhow."

So, for the next hour and a half, I continued my meeting with a shrieking phone, just pausing every time it shrieked - which was about every 2 minutes on the nose.

My brain hurts so bad.

No. Most people/companies treat them as "not quite doctors", and I've not heard of any needing referrals.

The only thing you'll want to look at is, the possibility that your health insurance covers part/all of it.
