Did you guys put it right at your address (or your street at least), or did you just put a vague reference to your city? Icons placed mid-ocean notwithstanding...

I really want to sign up for this even though I haven't moved yet ... I know where I'll be living, though!

I haven't moved yet either! So I put myself at my Canadian address now, and the US one where I'm moving to smile.gif

I wouldn't put the icon at my address. Somewhere within the general vicinity perhaps, but not right in front of my home. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I like my privacy.

I put mine in a river intentionally. =P

Congratulations. It really is good to hear that people have good experiences.

Please don't refer to the USCIS as good ever again.

Wow! 5K?

A lawyer I talked to for some pointers (60 bucks for one hour) wanted only $1500.00

She must be on the low end for this... tongue_ss.gif

Neither lawyer I spoke with would give me an hourly rate. They simply quoted us 3500-5000+ for the entire process.

They were somewhat helpful, but we learned more on this site than from talking to them so far.
VarbaMaleCanada2009-01-07 10:04:00
CanadaIs this too much to ask?
Just so no one gets the wrong idea, typically my mother and sister are kind and caring people. Just for some reason they have gone off the deep end on this.

I have stood beside Peachey completely on this issue, and even told her I will take care of it so she doesn't have to deal with this stupidity.

I nicely asked both my sister and mother in May if they would mind, just as a polite thing to do. I informed them that she wouldn't be expecting any gifts or anything and would just enjoy to be with family during Christmastime.

My mother all but said no right to Peachey and I's faces. And my sister was so upset at me that she sent me one of the nastiest emails I've ever gotten.

Since May, I've been arguing with them over this, trying to get them to see that they are being irrational and rude. I can not get them to explain themselves sufficiently, and I'm afraid that we'll will have to skip Christmas this year.

The part that baffles me is, they don't care that:
1) She's down here because she's the only person who offered to help us move.
2) She's missing her family Christmas (her mom and siblings).

What's even more baffling is, it's not like my parents haven't met her before. She invited them up to stay at her cabin a few weekends ago, and took wonderful care of them.

QUOTE (Autumnchik @ Aug 18 2009, 05:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It's not like you are inviting a stranger off the street. It is YOUR MOTHER ... who, IMO, becomes part of the family because marriage blends families together.

This is the strangest part to me too.

My mom and sister would probably be MORE open it was a stranger off the street, or a random orphan/refugee I was helping. In fact, in the past we've had people who were were helping attend our Christmases.

If it's going to Canada, good luck. I mailed Christmas cards last year on December 4th. The Canadians never received them until mid to late January. ohmy.gif Canada Post sucks. mad.gif

UPS is buggered up right now too.

A couple stores were worried about loss of sales from the giant snow storm to hit the east coast 2 weeks ago, so they ran giant online sales to up volume.

They forgot to inform UPS that there would be a influx.

My mom talked to her friend working there in our area, he said they are backlogged 7 days right now.

At least you don't have to "break the habit" though!

Sometimes I wonder, if they stopped shipping coffee into the US if our country could function.

You don't need to unless someone refuses to buy a gift and just wants to get one.

We have 5 people at work doing a SS, and no one had 2 people.
