K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI am starting a prayer brigade for non-stop approval of NOA2s especially for those who have long been waiting and for all other approvals you
1 Thessalonians 6:16-18 "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

What's joyful about our process? Learning dependence on the Sovereign King; putting Him first; delighting in Him.

Pray continually(or without ceasing as some translations say): No problem!

Give thanks in all circumstances: Thankful that we have our loved onces and we can communicate with them. But more than that, thankful for Christ's death and resurrection. That through that act God has proved he loves our loved ones more than we ever could. Someone said to me, "God knows our needs. It's our prayers that acknowledge our reliance on Him."

Dear Lord, I thank You for bringing Ashley into my life. Thank You for the joy and grace you've provided through her. We pray that through out this process, our hope, our foundation, our strength, our fulfilment would be in You and You alone. We ask that all the glory be given to You, that Your Name would be honored through this process. I pray for us to wait on Your timing and leave everything on Your hands. We pray you would give wisdom to the people processing these requests and patinece for those still waiting. In Jesus's Name, Amen.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhat happens after noa2?

Is there some place that spells out the entire list of documents and etc after noa2? Sorry I cant find it.

Your package will get sent out to NVC. From there it will go to your fiancee's consulate. She'll get instructions on what needs to be done along with some forms(probably).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInteresting article
It stinks for these people. I read the article and remembered my first phone call to USCIS. They told us what we needed to do, K1. We asked if we could elope and they said absolutly not. I'm glad we didn't.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Fiancee Visa
From here, your petition goes to NVC who forwards it to the embassy in Krgyzstan(in your case). From there it depends on what their backlog is. Montreal takes about 4 months, others takes quicker, some longer. If you fill out your time line, you can find similar ones. It should show you profiels with the same consulate. Check here and look at your kind of visa and scroll down to your country: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurescompleting I-129F & G-325A

...what family name do I use on the I-129F and the G-325A! I'm divorced and on the I-129F it asks for family name which I assume is the name I am currently using (ie., former married name) since Q. 7 asks for maiden name. The G-325A however asks for family name which I assume is my maiden name since it then asks for all other names used (including names by previous marriages). All that being said I'm not sure what family name I should be using...should it be the same on both forms...maiden family name of current family name??? :help:

As far as your name goes, "family name" is referring to your current last name. G325A is a bio sheet, which is why it asks for all names. Regardless, family name is your current, legal name. Sorry I can't help with the rest.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUnusual case

also, does having a bank account with a good sum of money (50k) help offset last years income that is a few thousand below the required levels (since i was in india for several months last year).

any help is greatly appreciated!

If you are currently employed, you'll need a letter of employment(for the I-134) that will state your salary, date of hire, position, job status(full or part time/temp). That should be enough. A letter from your bank will also be required. I forget off hand what is needed from them, but it's in the instructions.

Letters from banks and employers are not REQUIRED. They can be helpful, if available. Specifically, you would want a letter from the bank if you were using assets instead of income. If you have sufficient income, there is no need to state or prove assets. Many visas are issued without Employer letter. Many are issued without asking for any of the financial documentation. Of course, you can't adjust status without an I-864.

For example, if a bank letter was required, I wouldn't be sipping this herbal tea my wife just brought me.

From the instructions for I-134 Affidavit of support, which is requried for a K1 visa. I don't know about a K3, but the OP didn't say what they are filing for. Proff of employment is also required for the I-864, which is with AOS.

The sponsor must submit in duplicate evidence of incomeand resources, as appropriate:
A. Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institutions where you have deposits, identifying the following details regarding your account:
1. Date account opened;
B. Statement of your employer on business stationery, revealing:
1. Date and nature of employment;
C. If self-employed:
2. Report of commercial rating concern.
D. List containing serial numbers and denominations of bonds and name of record owner(s).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhich embassy to put in I-129F for an interview?
I can't say what conulate you would use, but if you're Lithuanian, I would guess you send it there. NCV will know where to send it. Case in point: We put Toronto on our application since that was the closest consulate. We later found out Montreal and Vancover were the only consulates in Canada that do K visas. NVC knew this and sent it to Montreal. It wouldn't hurt to call USCIS or NVC to make sure.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCanadian to marry US citizen
Check out the Canada forum, there's a few people with similar sitations(border towns). I don't think a K-1/K3 is quicker than another but it was at some point a K3 was faster. A k3 will also allow for multiple entries, right away, while a K1 is only good for a one-time entry. If you leave the US on a K1 without advance parole or a green card, you can't come back in.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRunning Out of Time
Another reminder...just b/c you have an interview date doesn't mean you can book a date either. Wait until you have things sured up. My wife and I changed our unofficial date three times before she got the visa. The Montreal consulate even told us not to book a wedding until we had the visa. We did book the church, but since it was my church, they were flexible and we just went with what were open dates with them. We had a cater/photographer picked and just waited for the visa to book those dates.

Congrats on the crossing Leafgal! Does anyone know if Niagra is better/worse than Peace Bridge in Buffalo? Niagra would save us a couple of miles/time and we might be able to see the Falls on the way back.

hi everyone,
just wanted to let you all know that i called the montreal office and was finally able to get a date. my packet 3 had been received beginning of october but heard nothing from them. all my emails went without replies, every time i called i'd be waiting until it was 4 pm so i never got through anyone. today i did, and they said that i was apparently put on a waiting list and they just booked my interview date, which is now scheduled for jan 16, 2007. the operator said that i should be receiving the letter soon. hope this info helps all of you waiting in the room.

Congrats!!!!

an interview date has not yet been scheduled, but we'll receive a letter in 4 to 12 weeks. If it's February, this whole process will have taken 11 months, about twice as long as we originally imagined.

Jersey, that's what they used to say to us, so hang in there!

Well, I did not get time today at work to call Montreal. But I'm making up for it now, by opening my second Molson XXX! I figure, if I drink the entire six-pack, I'll have an interview date by the time I regain consciousness. :P

Jersey, I know this stinks to hear, but at times I was glad we were unable to call the consulate and here them say "no". That being said, you probably have a date.

The frustrating part is everyone's "helpful advice". It hurts to explain why we can't just get married. And of course everyone's reply is "It's not like Canada has a bunch of terrorists" or something to that effect. I'll be glad when this is all over.

Leafgal, does it feel weird not having anything to update with saying you called this day or did that? I know I feel like I have nothing to say, since we're just in a waiting pattern now. I guess all that's left for us is to encourage others and wait.

I said I'd update about the transfer situation. I called Vancouver today and was told yesterday they mailed my appointment letter, it's for November 29. That will be 8 months from when we petitioned. There's an end in sight, I feel so relieved! With Leafgal's and jg_am's recent appointment dates, I'm sure everyone will have one much sooner than Montreal is saying. I'm hoping for quick appointments for all of you!

Mercy, Congrats!

Hey gang! My fiancee just called Montreal and she has an interview on Nov 15th! They said they mailed the letter on Oct 26th. Thanks to everyone for your prayers/encouragment. It's hard to wait for God's timing but in the end it's His best that counts, not ours. I'll let you all know how it went.

One other thing. The person said they haven't booked December yet. Take that with a grain of salt as we know how we hear different things. Oh yes, they told her that so they could cancel the date and honor her December request. She opted not to. I was looking forward to going to Montreal with her, but now we don't have to spend two of our days together traveling.

There has never been any rhyme or reason in any of this. There's an expectation that the government would be fair and predictable. Ha. Nor is there any cause and effect, jg. Calling doesn't make them give you an interview. Or does it?

No it doesn't, sadly. We were anxious to call because Leafgal mailed her stuff a few days before us. But Jersey, you sent yours in even earlier, which is too bad that you haven't heard anything. We've decided to wait until the end of next week to give a call or email.

Leafgal, shouldn't you have received a letter by now, being that your interview is three weeks away?

I still keep track at the USCIS site. track online

I also work at a job where I can't call Canada (no long distance allowed). But I've got an international phone card and wondered if it might work from a pay phone. Not sure.

Every time I check at USCIS, the last update was her approval(EAC #). I just tried to put in her NVC case number and it said it was invalid. Oh, well.

I have a calling card too, since it's much cheaper than the phone company's rates. I do have time to call, but we need to be patient and trust Him.

Philippians 4: 6,7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

In other news, my fiancee is now working at a job where she won't be able to call Montreal at the appointed times(at least for the next few weeks). We've decided not to call at all in this time. Leafgal, you're our barometer, so when you get your letter, we'll know to anticipate ours.

Here you go:

She then asked if she could request a date. The guy said she can, but he can't promise anything.

Riviting, I know. :) She just gave it a shot. It was the mean lady who yelled at her before with the "We don't accomodate you, you accomodate us."

I know what you mean. The hardest part is not knowing anything. Ashley and I had a real peace about the situation once we decided we'll take any date instead of what we wanted. I was just there in September and it was hard(as usual) to say goodbye because we don't see an end in sight. I'm visiting in December, which was going to be for our honeymoon, but we're hoping we'll be able to Montreal together. Maybe your interview will be the same as hers and we'll bump into each other. As I've mentioned before, you are allowed to request a date, but there aren't any guarantees.
