PhilippinesUPS, FedEx, LBC, USPS

Definitely use either UPS or DHL. I have always used DHL and never had a problem. NEVER EVER use USPS because they use Phil Post and I have had friends of mine who went cheap and used them. When an if the packages arrived it was either missing things or damaged. Sometimes the packages never showed up at all. I know it sucks spending a $100 dollar to send there but the peace of mind is great.

We mainly it long grain jasmine white rice at my house. My wife doesn't eat alot of rice here so a small pot is what she likes to use. Lately I have been buying some Jasmine Rice from Vietnam and she said she loves it.

Philippines21 day tourist visa

If you stay longer than the 30 days and do not have the time to file a extension. Then you have to pay the fee at the immigration counter in the airport before you are allowed to fly out of the country. I stayed 29 days last year and I was not able to extend it, so I had to pay the 3000php fee.

Philippines2go Visa Delivery to Provinces

Maayung Buntag... Which province in Mindanao are you from? My wife is from Compostela Valley and when they sent the visa to Davao. They had my wife actually come pick it up at a town about an 1 hour away. Because they rarely go to her town. So you should get a phone call from them to confirm where you live.

PhilippinesA sensitive topic/question.....

My wife does NOT like toilet paper at all. She uses flushable baby wipes all the time. My wife usually washes the dishes because she says I don't clean to her standards.:P

PhilippinesTop 10 places to retire on $2000 a month (Cebu one of them)

You can live high off the hog on $2k a month in the provinces of Eastern Mindanao as long as the whole family doesn't move in. We have a 1000 sqm lot in New Bataan, Compostela Valley. But my wife doesn't want to build/live there after what happened from the typhoon last year. She is scared of a once in a lifetime even happening again.

I have had dental care in Mindanao in my asawa's town. I got a cleaning and it only cost me 800php to get it down. The service was great.

I have also had to go get medical care a couple times and I went to the local clinic in town. I loved it because I always got front of the line privilege and the care was good. It cost me 500php and that was it.

Philippinessent mail to US postal..worried :(

Make sure next time do not use USPS to send anything to the Philippines. Because they use PhilPost at that end and PhilPost is notoriously corrupt. I have known people who have shipped stuff and it never got there, other people have got the package but stuff was missing in the package.

PhilippinesDenied tourist visa, now on cr1 will they still deny me?

My wife was denied a B1 visa as well. But 6 months later we submitted her for a fiance visa and she was approved. The CO never even asked about it during the interview. Don't worry it will be fine

If you can't find a Pinoy here in California you must be blind. Pinoys are everywhere in SoCal. My asawa is lucky that we live in the LA area and regularly go to Seafood City and Chow King (She loves Chicken Mami).

PhilippinesDriving in Philippines. Have you done it with car rental ?

I guess I'll just figure where I want to go and hire a driver. Whenever I go back with my wife she wants to stick close to family so there's a lot I haven't explored yet that I wish I could. I'll get to it I'm sure.

Sadly there were two bombings recently in movie theaters in Davao malls where I have been before. There's a lot of bad fighting with the military and muslim extremists now on the west side of Mindanao. Davao has always been a peaceful place for me whenever I visited before. I hope the Philippine military and government can fix this situation. I've always wanted to visit the underground river at  Puerto Princesa but I may hold off on that for a year or two since that's in the Muslim area.

That's what usually happens anyway. Don't worry about Davao City at all. I have been there countless times and I have NEVER had a problem. I actually feel safer walking around there than I do in Manila. The mayor keeps a pretty tight ship down there and most criminals know that crimes does not pay, and if it does it is with their lives.

I was like you at first as well, but you need to stop thinking of Mindano as one province. There are very different regions in Mindanao that are not filled with extremists. I have traveled up in the Northern and Eastern Mindanao and I have been fine. Just make sure to keep your wallet in your front pocket and don't wear flashy jewelry. I say that because it's easier to do that than to get it stolen.

Where in California are you living right now?

PhilippinesDriving in Philippines. Have you done it with car rental ?

Just wondering if any foreigners here have rented cars to drive themselves around in the Philippines. I guess there's a big difference between city and province driving but even on country roads it can get crazy with speeding buses and trucks.

It almost seems like a free for all driving style in the cities.

I spend most of my time in the province about 4 hours from Davao when I'm visiting. I'd just like to be able to jump in a car and go instead of waiting for a driver but I'm about 75% on it not being a great idea. Besides the driving style what happens if I get in an accident etc. I'm sure I would be expected to pay big.

Any driving experiences anyone has to share with car rentals ?

Thanks smile.png

I have not rented a car while in Davao. Usually me and my wife usually just take a bus or a taxi to where she lives in Compostela Valley. Her family has a motorbike which we use while we are in her town and the local area. But if we want to go back down to Davao City we take a Aircon Metro Shuttle.

Where are from in Mindanao?

PhilippinesWhy are so many American Men connecting with Filipina's

I was never looking for a Filipina nor was she looking for a Amerikano. We just got lucky by her niece dating my coworker, and I asked her if she knew a good woman for me after I got out of a bad divorce. 3 1/2 years later we are married and expecting our first child.
I love how the majority of Filipinas are good women. My wife is a wonderful woman and will be a great mother. I don't have to worry about anything because she is awesome. Thanks to her I have gained some weight eating her cooking.... Which is bad thing because I don't want to get fat lol.

PhilippinesIs Friend's Fiancee Scamming Him? How to convince him?

Very rare to see an "Americano" in my wife's province.  Turned out he was Canadian.    He said it was the first time anyone had taken her back to the province.   Let's see how close you can come to guessing how much he paid her for a month of "companionship".

What province is your wife from? My wife is from Compostela Valley and there is hardly any white people at all. I saw one one time and we talked. We had a good conversation but turns out he was from New Zealand.

PhilippinesIs Friend's Fiancee Scamming Him? How to convince him?

I asked my wife to stop working about 3 months before she got here, so we could chat at night and she could get ready to come here etc. I totally supported her for 3 months and it was not 14,000 pesos a month. That is absurd.

I did too. I met my asawa in Qatar and when I went to work in Afghanistan and we went on vacation together in the Philippines. I told her to stay there and I would support her (she did not ask me to do that). I sent 30,000peso a month but when I would go on vacation there from Afghan I wouldn't pay for anything while I was there.

Now my wife is here and we are great. We both agree that this woman is a scammer.

PhilippinesWhere's your hometown?
My beautiful fiance is Bisayan, and she is from New Bataan, Compostela Valley Province. It is about 120kms North of Davao City. It is a beautiful and wonderful place, known for the Gold Mining in province. I absolutely love it there, and welcomed wherever I go. Mainly because I am the only white person they have seen all year. LOL. But I love it just the same. I am from Greensboro, North Carolina.

I have been there twice so far, and coming up on my 3rd vacation there in a year for a total over 2 months.

It will be fine. The K1 visa states that you have to see each other within the past 2 years. So if it is 14 months, then it is fine. Just bring your proof of contact since then to each other.

Yes, I was going to do the same thing and marry during the K1 process. Luckily I read on here and confirmed it with my attorney. It would stop the process in it's tracks and have to start all over again. We were bummed by knowing that, because we really wanted to get married asap. But we can wait.

You can use a photocopy as long as the notary stamp is visible on it, if not just bring the original if you can. Me and my fiance brought my divorce papers during her interview as well. They didn't ask for them but I brought them anyway just in case. They should have it already in the packet sent to the embassy, but like I said. Just in case bring one for you too.

I have a problem and i cant answer by my own . Please help. Last 30 of july we got a mail from the NVC that our case will be forwarded to the embassy. NOw, because we have already the MNL case number what we did is i pay the visa fee today. When we try to set an appointment it cannot process. Do you think we have to wait the package or the instructions arrive? Please enlighten me. THank you all.

Are you trying to do it online or are you calling the embassy? Because the website is really flaky at least to me it is. I kept having problems for about 30minutes. So I gave up and called the embassy directly and it took only 10minutes then. Congrats

I have not read anywhere the meeting has to be in her home country it just says I have to meet her once in 2 years it does not say where

Yes that is what people are saying to you sir. Getting a tourist visa for a Filipina to the USA is next to impossible, almost like hitting the lottery. They have to establish strong ties to the Philippines. Such as land, a job, a house. My fiance got denied for a tourist visa last year even though she had return tickets in her hand. You would have better luck meeting in say Thailand, Singapore or the Philippines.
