IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - March 2012

Recently it's been 1-2 weeks from when case gets completed. :star:

Maybe you'll get some good news this week! There have only been 2 other IR-1/CR-1's from Paraguay on VJ in the past year and they both got their interview dates one week after CC so I'll be checking my e-mail like crazy today!

Ditto, weekends drag.

How long does it normally take for the interview to get scheduled in the DR?

LOl you are right but i heard someone got a checklist for putting n/a instead of None on DS-230 form. That's why i want to make sure.

Seriously?? That's a ridiculous thing to get a checklist for. Doesn't it say in the instructions to put "N/A" or "NONE"? Maybe the person reviewing it was having a bad day...

Gardening season is starting - what have you planted?

One of the many things I love about Paraguay is that the soil is awesome for growing. We have a garden year round and all our veggies are home grown. Tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers, carrots, eggplant, just to name a few. I had never gardened before coming here but it's definitely something we'll want to continue back in the States.

This whole process has made me crazy. Weekends are long and dull, I can't wait for Mondays and I'm excited to pay bills.

Here's to another week of NVC action starting tomorrow! :joy:

i read the instructions of the i-864 and found this:

You must provide either an IRS transcript or a photocopy from your own records of your Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year.

If you provide a photocopy of your tax return(s), you must include a copy of each and every FormW-2 and Form 1099 that relates to your return(s). Do not include copies of these Forms if you provide an IRS transcript of your return(s) rather than a photocopy.

and then at the end of the instructions it says:
The following items must be submitted with Form I-864:
For ALL sponsors:
A copy of your individual Federal income tax return, including W-2s for the most recent tax year, or a statement and/or evidence describing why you were not required to file. Also include a copy of each and every Form 1099, Schedule, and any other evidence of reported income. You may submit this information for the most recent three tax years , pay stub(s) from the most recent six months, and/or a letter from your employer if you believe any of these items will help you qualify.

so what do we need now? is it ok if we just include the tax transcripts of the past 3 years or do we have to get my husbands tax returns, w2, pay stubs, letter from his employer?

If you include tax transcripts then you do not need to include W2s/1099s. The instructions say to provide either/or. Pay stubs and an employment letter are optional, I think most people include them.

Thanks a million for the help, Amanda! Can I ask if you went ahead and sent in a copy of your birth certificate to prove your relationship to your father? I know I have to prove my dad is a USC, and will get him to send in a copy of his birth certificate, but I am wondering if I need to send mine as well.

Yes, I sent a copy of my birth certificate for proof of relationship between my father and I. And then he sent a copy of the biographic data page of his passport or proof of US citizenship. His birth certificate would also work for that part.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - March 2012

Hi all,

I'm working on completing my AOS for my husband, and have a question for which I can't find an answer.

I'll be returning from abroad, and on the I-864, for mailing address, I used my parent's address in the USA. For place of residence, I used my address abroad.

As I'll be returning from abroad, I am using my Dad as a joint sponsor, and having him fill out the I-864, instead of the I-864A. We are not members of the same household, but I have used this address on the I-130 for the 'address you intend to live at in the USA.'

I think I might be worrying too much, but will this cause the NVC to think my Dad should be filling out the I-864A?

I'm over-analyzing, aren't I? Or not?

Thanks for any help!

We are in the same situation. My dad is my joint sponsor and I also used his address for the US address where we are intending to live. We considered the I-864a for awhile too but finally went with the I-864 and we had no problems at NVC. Good luck!

Hey, i am brazilian but my process goes through madrid bcoz i live in Spain. :)

Oh, I see that now, I was just going by the flag before  . I asked the other 2 Paraguayan IR-1/CR-1 members and they got their interview letters a week after CC so I'm hoping for the same. Other people going through Madrid would be able to give a better answer. Good luck!

It differs by country. In Canada, that's how long it usually takes to get an interview letter (I was on the longer end). But it doesn't really matter WHEN you get the date assigned, it's more important of when the interview is! Mine was less than 2 months from my CC, so I was happy :) It's possible to get the interview date assigned the day after a CC, but be months and months later. Which would you prefer? :P

I would like my interview assigned the day after CC for next month. Is that an option?

Saylin has the same schema of timeline but in 2011...I just noticed that! HAHAHAHA....and my theory is correct...we'll get interview in May.... :alien: Nostradamus again.

I hope we don't follow too closely in her footsteps since she didn't get her interview letter for 2 weeks!

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a fairly common "error". That said, Saylin's advice of bringing a corrected DS-230 to the interview is logical. Just in case.

Yeah for sure. I was already planning on it since my husband turned 28 and the form we turned in says 27.

Thanks but I have a problem with that item then, and I would like to ask for you advice to see what options I have to resolve my issue.

It happens that, that same page where 31a is located at (Part 1 of DS-230, page 2) is the same page where beneficiary (my wife) signs and she has actually just sent me that piece of paper with her signature via snail mail (last Monday) with my name on 31a.

Can she retype the form, sign it, scan it as a PDF, and send it to me via email, OR does that Page HAS TO HAVE her Original Signature on it?

I interpreted that question the same way you did so I put my own name there. Whoever reviewed our IV packet accepted it.

Wooohooo! X 2! Just got an email from NVC confirming my designation as Agent and also the IV Bill enclosed in the attachment. Immediatelly went to the Portal and the IV Bill was generated and ready to be paid! Yeeeees! So the IV Bill has been paid and current Payment Status as "IN PROGRESS" but I was able to print out the Bar-coded Cover Sheet for the IV package! So Happy! :) :D :P

14March2021, 1522CDT. No Interview date set. :(

They're telling me again that "We're sorry sir, but there is no chance for an interview in April."

That's depressing :(. I think I'm just going to wait for the e-mail rather than riding the NVC emotional roller coaster by calling each day.

Yes and I get that. Thanks! but shouldn't at least some information be already in there such the applicant's name at least. I'm just going by what my friend's used to look like. It would already have all her information entered but under the Status it would say "NOT INVOICED"

Mine was completely blank too, no name, no nothing. Don't worry, it'll be ready to pay today or tomorrow.

Correct.

As long as NVC has both email addresses, yes, it does! All correspondence is sent to both parties, except the AOS and IV invoices (if you get such an email, we never did cause we paid it right away Posted Image ) which is just sent to the petitioner.

Thanks, I was pretty sure but just checking. I'm paranoid again since the NVC operator told me that Asuncion schedules their own interviews. I e-mailed the CO (he's a friend of a friend...weird) and he said his secretary handles everything and she is out of the office until Monday . I can feel that April interview slipping out of my grasp...

For sure it won't hurt if you resend it. But if you already received the auto-reply email resending a new one will not put you ahead of the queue. they have a queue and they are working it everyday.

Also, I'm guessing it was their first email that was accepted since they only re-sent the second one today. I doubt NVC is that speedy.

Hello guys,

4 Q's:

1) Do we need to include "AOS Payment Receipt" in the AOS package?
Nope, only the bar-coded cover sheet.

2) How do you guys verify if NVC received AOS package or IV package?
just by tracking # from the shipping company?
or
call NVC if they have received it?
Best to go by your tracking number. NVC will only tell you when a package is being reviewed, not when it's received.

3) After NVC has received it, Do we call them and ask them about the Status of the AOS or IV package, if it has been received and accepted?
YES

4) By accepted, do you mean, no Checklist? moving onto case completion?

YES. At least, that's what I meant by accepted in my signature :P

How soon after my Affidavit of Support package (I-864) is received at NVC should I start calling to find out if it was reviewed and/or accepted? BTW, my AOS package is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow at NVC. How soon can I start calling to find out status?

Mine arrived last Monday and it was reviewed on Wednesday. You can start calling as soon as you want but it'll take them a day or 2 to enter it into the system and review the package. Congrats and good luck!!

Sorry to throw this question out in this forum but maybe I could get some help from you guys or perhaps you could guide me in the right direction. As many of you, I will be very soon approaching the end of the NVC stage (Thank God!)...

Is there anywhere I can find out the average time it takes for the Embassy in Colombia to assign an interview date once my case is closed at NVC?

I know this is a very specific question for COLOMBIA but it has been kind of hard for me to find people in VJ going for a CR1/IR1 in COLOMBIA. Most applicants I see from COLOMBIA are going for a K1 Visa (which is a completely different game). Any comments are greatly appreciated.

I'm in the same boat. There are only a handful of other people from Paraguay on VJ. Unfortunately the best way to find out about interview dates is to compare with other members in your country. Is there any information on the Embassy in Colombia website?

:crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: I am so upset, if I do get a checklist for this, what should I do? Will they be able to tell me what it is on the phone? And if so, do just reprint the AOS cover sheet, and send only "MY" I-864, I don't remember this question being on my joint sponsor's I-864A. Do I need to wait for a special letter from them to send this, and I wouldn't need to resend all the other stuff (IRS transcripts, employment letter, paystubs) that I sent with the initial packet right? I am sorry for being annoying. I am really upset at myself. I had doubts about this question, but stupid me didn't double check and ask.

:crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

Yes just realized I left it blank on my joint sponsor's I-864A as well. I am to upset to even type. I am going to sleep. :crying:

Aww Steph, I'm sorry :( :( . But a checklist isn't the end of the world. The operator was able to tell me exactly what mine was for and then I got an e-mail about it later that day. You should be about to correct it in a day or too; I doubt it'll slow your case down too much. Just take a deep breath and focus on filling the forms out completely this time. Good luck! :star:

I talked to a fairly helpful operator this morning (side note: I've never had a mean operator. Maybe because I sound like I'm 12 years old on the phone  ). Anyway, she said that when they issue a checklist, they are only looking at the petitioner's documents. That's why it said I need a joint sponsor, which I obviously already knew. She said that she could see on the screen that I have a joint sponsor so I have nothing to worry about.

She also said that they are reviewing my other package as we speak so maybe I'll get a CC today!!

If the supervisor says it'll take 10 - 15 business days, just call back the next day anyway. They give time frames but really have no clue how long it will or won't take. Just call every day and ask. :)

I know, but I remember in the February thread a couple of people got checklists for birth certificates that they did send in. It actually took the supervisor 10 days to look at it . I think I'll call anyway though, I'm too curious.

If the operator doesn't know, then yes, ask for a supervisor.

Okay now I'm just being paranoid. What if I call tomorrow and a supervisor says they'll review it and it'll take 10-15 business days? Then I just set my case back a week or two. Is there a downside to just bringing all the appropriate documentation from the joint sponsor to the interview?

That's weird then that didn't like your joint sponsor. You might want to call and inquire why they issued that checklist since your joint sponsor seems to be well over the poverty line...

Okay I'll give them a call tomorrow. Would that be something I'd ask a supervisor?

I'm really confused. I got the checklist letter asking for the IV packet but it also said this about my AOS packet:

F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE:______________________________________
The NVC has received the information you have submitted in reference to
the Affidavit of Support. Please be advised that the Affidavit of Support
information you have provided does not appear to meet the minimum
income requirement according to the current poverty guidelines to sponsor
the intending immigrant(s) for this petition. The consular officer will make
a decision regarding this requirement at the time of your interview. In
order to avoid delays, you may wish to submit an additional Affidavit of
Support (Form I-864) for a/another Joint Sponsor to the National Visa
Center to assist in sponsoring the intending immigrants. To view the
current poverty guidelines, visit
http://www.uscis.gov...orm/I-864P.pdf.

If you decide to use a Joint Sponsor to assist in sponsoring the intending
immigrants, please note that you the sponsor may not use Form I-864EZ
and will also need to submit Form I-864.

I'm confused because I did have a joint sponsor and he makes over 50K a year. I'm not really sure what to do. I guess I'll just bring a copy of the AOS packet to the interview since it said the CO will make the final decision. This process is killing me :bonk:
