IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHELP I130 Sent - Translation done in Argentina

Thanks for ur response, i have to say that the Association of Public Translators that certified the document is here in AR too.

That is fine. I got our marriage certificate translated in Paraguay with a certification from the translator here and we had no problems.

Yes, that is fine!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDocument Translations
The documents don't need to be translated by a government agency. I did the translations for my husband's documents as I am fluent in Spanish and English and then signed and attached the affirmation statement. As long as the person is competent to translate between the two languages, it is okay. Good luck and congrats and starting the process soon!

You should submit everything together in one package. NVC receives thousands of packages everyday and if you sent them separately it would probably delay your case if you sent them separately because NVC would then have to hunt down the JS's I-864 and join the two. It also might get lost. It's just safer to send them all together. Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUSC living abroad question
Hi,

I (USC) am also living abroad. I sent the entire package to my parents, they wrote the check from their bank account and then sent the package on to the Chicago lockbox. We had no problems.

Good luck!

It seems that everyone who is filing from abroad gets sent to the California Center. At least, that has been the trend in this thread.

10. Did you mention the fact you reside abroad in the cover letter or write a letter describing your current situation and the evolution of your relationship with your spouse (mentioning your residence abroad)? No, I was not aware that I needed to include a cover letter, or I would have done so.

Hi, just wanted to say that a cover letter isn't required but some people find them useful for organizing their packets. I don't even know if USCIS reads them or not. I did not include a cover letter, and many other people do not, so you should be fine without it.

Good luck and congrats on starting the process!

Just to make it clear, when you said that you would put the foreign address in the forms do you mean all forms: I 130 and G325A, or just one of them?

I thought that maybe the address in the I130 his address of residence and in the G325A his address he has been living, or its the same thing?

Thanks a lot again!

Just went back and double-checked and yes, I put my foreign address on both the I-130 and G-325A.

Guys,

For what I've been seen its just the legally residents in a foreign country who got the cases expedited, right?

So if the person its not legal, or with a tourist visa like this case above its not a case for expedition?

My husband its living with me and my foreign country but we are not sure if its better to put his address from the U.S in the form G325a and in the intent address the U.S one, or put both the U.S address.

It might make a difference in the waiting process, so I wanted your opinion.

Thanks a lot

The person you quoted said they did NOT list their foreign address on the I-130. That automatically puts you in the non-expedited queue. It's up to you really; we don't really know for sure how the auto-expedite works. But if I were you, I would put the foreign address. Good luck!

<----CSC also.

I have a friend here who also married a Paraguayan and sent in the I-130 in March. Theirs got routed to VSC although I told her to use her address abroad. I'm interested to see how soon their petition gets approved.

**Kuwait has terrible post, but I still used my Kuwait address because I was hoping for the expedited approval. In order to circumvent this issue, I included an attachment that gave my Fedex account number. The Tier 2 Operator at USCIS told me they would try to honor that request, but couldn't promise. Well, nearly one month onward, I have received no Fedex package, or anything through regular mail (but that doesn't surprise me).

Paraguay has an awful mail system too. I just recently received the NOA-1 and still haven't received the NOA-2. It was worth it though for faster processing. Also, NVC does everything through e-mail.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Question about PCC
Background: I am the USC; filed I-130 for my Paraguayan husband. Received approval on January 20.

My husband originally told me that he lived in Argentina for almost 2 years so I thought he would need to get a PCC from Argentina. I also filled out the G-325A accordingly. We were talking about it today and it turns out, this is what actually happened:

October 2006: husband enters Argentina with tourist stamp, stays for 3 months until stamp expires, then returns home for a few of weeks.

February 2007: husband returns to Argentina, gets new tourist stamp, stays for another 3 months, then returns home again.

June 2007: returns to Argentina, this time gets authorization to work but only stays for 10 months.

So I don't think he needs the PCC now but what I wrote on the G-325A is totally wrong. Should I just make sure he fills out the DS-230 correctly and explain that he made a mistake on the previous form?

Thanks for your help!

Got an email this morning to my husband's I-130 was approved! I haven't even received the hard copy of my NOA1 yet. I live in Paraguay with my husband so I suspect that had something to do with the speed of it.

Good luck everyone! :star:

Ohhh, Labour Day.

What the heck is theirs doing in May? Posted Image

It's Labor Day here in Paraguay too, that's why my husband's interview, which was originally suppossed to be today was moved to yesterday. He was approved after a short and simple interview (albeit an hour and a half long wait beforehand).

Thanks Saylin for your words of wisdom and for helping us and so many others get through NVC quickly and with a little less stress. We're going home soon!!!

.....whaaaaa? It's not the same! You can't cross stuff off of digital lists on your wall! Gah! How would I keep all my ducks in a row?! LOL :P

I like physical lists and stuff too :D . My husband and I put up interview questions around the house. He doesn't speak English so it's hard for him to remember things like what city we are going to live in in the States or what school I'll be going to. It's much easier to see the words written out. Granted he probably won't be asked half those things but it's better to be over-prepared.

Congrats!! I wanted to know also if they got my file at the embassy. I called them yeserday and they said they have not received it from NVC as yet. So not sure whats the time line as to when they send it....

Interesting, it seems like NVC may be taking longer to send out cases to the Embassies now too. The Embassy just got my husband's case yesterday then called him and changed his interview date because it fell on a National Holiday :bonk:

EXACTLY 30 days after CC, finally an interview date scheduled for 17 MAY 2012 8AM...holly cow, Thought it'll EVER happen! Lisa in DOS confirmed that and was kinda surprised they didn't issue it last Friday, what ever that supposed to mean. she said they are probably busy in Casablanca and that why it took longer..Anyway, email to follow, should be getting it late afternoon. My wife is thrilled but we both overcome the excitement. On hold with NVC to re-confirm (5 minutes).

I'll let sheeshkabelle to do the honor of smillies' dances...

Congrats!! It's about time!

I just called NVC, and was informed our case closed today!

CONGRATS!! Hopefully you won't have to wait long for an interview!

Happy Monday everyone!

**Sigh**, I am here sipping on a nice hot cup of 100% Colombian, silky coffee while I await the AOS Checklist via email...

Ahh...jealous of the coffee. You'd think being neighbors with Brazil we could get some decent coffee up in Paraguay but nope, all we got is instant. Yuck. Anyway, happy Monday :D

I woke up this morning to some good news. I had an email from SantiagoImmigration@state.gov in reply to an email I sent them last week about divorce certificates in Chile. I sent them a scanned copy of the divorce decree I sent to the NVC to confirm that it was the correct document. The NVC rejected the document last week and issued a checklist for the IV packet. Here is what the email said:

Mr. Rogers:

Thank you for your email. You are right. The divorce decree you are sending is ok. This is how divorce decrees looks like in Chile. It is very strange as the NVC is familiar with the certificates.

We will contact the NVC to confirm that the certificate you are sending is correct.

Sincerely,

Immigrant visa unit
Santiago, Chile

Hoping to get case closed for my wife today so she and my step-daughter can get their interviews scheduled in the next few days.

That's great news!! Glad it all got sorted out, way to be on top of it.

Okay, so I called up NVC too. The gentleman I spoke with was very nice and told me that they are in the middle of scheduling interviews, so I should be getting a date by next week. I really, really hope that's true.

It is basically the same thing they told us, i think i will wait until monday to give them a call. I do not know how i am gonna be resistant to wait until next week to call

Keep in mind you may also receive the e-mail in the meantime. I had called last Thursday and the interview still wasn't assigned. Then I received the e-mail less than 24 hours later. Don't worry, it'll come soon!

I have a question for those preparing for interview...how much and what types of stuff are you bringing/having spouse bring to show bona-fide marriage/relationship? I have 4 yrs worth of stuff and he will kill me if I make him bring all of it. Not to mention I have to post a lot of it to him because as the woman, I save everything!

I guess it depends on what Consulate you/your spouse are interviewing at. Some require more evidence than others. Also, how much evidence did you turn in with the I-130? I'm just bringing some more photos. We don't have a lot of evidence like chat logs and all that because we've been living together the entire relationship.

Times like these I wish they still had the AVR. It would be nice to talk to a computer just to hear Case Complete instead of sitting for 15 minutes to talk to a person.

Agreed! It takes longer to verify names, dates of birth, phone number and e-mail address than to ask the dang question.
