US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionBirth Certificate for Interview

Hi all, My fiances checklist says:

() Birth Certificates: Once Certified copy of the birth certificate of each person named in the application is required. Birth records must be presented for all unmarried childeren under the age of 21, even if they are not applying for a visa at this time. The certificate must state the date and place of birth and names of both parents.

My question is we have her certified birth cetificate with her and she has a COPY of mine. As I understand it they don't need my original birth certificate for the interview. Correct?

Thanks

I don't think she will even need yours. But each embassy/consulate has their own way of doing things. I think your fine, but your best contacting the consulate/embassy that your fiancee is going through to verify.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionBoth go to the interview

What if we both go to the interview? Is it going to help proof our relationship? Am I allowed to go to the embassy with my fiancee? Thanks!

Depends on the embassy or consulate. In some places, the petitioner is not allowed to attend the interview. Other places encourage both people to show up.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Affidavit of Support

Hello All,

We have just filed our I-129F andnow look towards the future and upcoming documents and processes. I see I need to fill out the I-134 and clearly make more then the requirement , 77,000 gross earnings.

I carry some bills and do not have much saved only a few thousand in a checking. A large child support payment takes care of this....

I meet the salary
have about 14,000 in assets
300,000 life insurance 0 cash value

My question, Will they base my support listed on the 134 or do they do some sort of Debt to Income ratio??

Thanks
S.

Just the income on the I-134. You don't even need to disclose assets if you meet the income minimums. You do. Have you taken a look at the form and its instructions?

Thanks for the reply...I have just started to read all here...some wonderful valuable info here....I'm just planning ahead..I probably have 3 months before I need to submit this doc.

So, there's no debt to Income ratio investigation from them?? (LOL)

No income to debt ratio. I'm guess they would assume that you don't have more debt than you can afford.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 and proof of Income

Hello All,

I have been unemployed for about a month. I expect to be employed again soon but it's close to time to fill out our I-134. Can I use things like retirement savings (IRA/401K) to prove my ability to support my fiancé, or does it have to be earned income? On the good side, my fiancé has a very good job and about 8k USD that she will be bringing with her. With all of this, do you think it's necessary to have a co-sponsor? Thanks, Scott and Fabi :help:

Your fiancee's savings are not usually counted unless they have enough money to self sponsor. Your retirement account, assuming you can access it now if needed would be considered an asset.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPetitioner's Birth Certificate needed for K-1 Interview?

-G,

It may be different for each interview. Photocopies of supporting documentation for petitions and applications is accepted by USCIS and DOS with the understanding that an immigration officer or a consular officer can ask to see the original document to verify the photocopy. The visa interview (and the AOS interview) are convenient times to spot-check documentation.

One won't know what will be asked for and what won't be asked for until they are at the interview talking with the interviewing officer. Just because you weren't asked for a particular item doesn't mean that the next person after you won't be asked for it.

Yodrak

Hmm... I didn't need one. I guess it's different for each embassy in each country. Make an email inquiry to the U.S embassy in Thailand for asking about the original BC of the petitioner, it's better to hear directly from them.

-G

Yodrak,
I'm aware of that and I'm thinking for the OP to ask about it to the U.S embassy in Thailand for they would provide more eligible information for what are needed on the interview

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAnother I-134 question

Hello all!

I posted a similar question earlier, but I am still unclear.

I am almost done with my college career, and will begin student teaching in January. I will have a job on the weekends, and will be working part time at the college.

When I submit the I-134, will I need to include letters from both employers even though they are not full time? Do you recommend that I include a letter explaining that I will have a full time job once I graduate?

Thank you all again! Visa Journey has been so helpful!!

You can include a letter of a job offer if you already have one, but simply saying that you will be working full time after you graduate is not enough.

You can include the letters from your current employers and or your tax returns.

If you do not meet the requirement for the interview stage, you can get a co-sponsor now, and then you may be able to self-sponsor with your new job when it comes time to do AOS.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuick evidence of support question

Hey guys,

I just have a quick question: on the final packet from the London Embassy there is a checklist of what I need to bring to the interview, and under evidence of support it states that I need to bring form I-864, however on all documentation up to this point it has stated that I will need to bring an I-134 and therefore this is what my fiancee has completed, had notarised and sent me.

Could someone just clarify this for me?

Thanks a million!

Each embassy and consulate may do things differently. If they ask for the I-864, then that is what you should send.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow does the embassy schedule interview (k-1)

Hello all,

I am currently in the USA. I have sent back package 4 and awaiting the reply by the embassy to go for interview.

What method will they (London embassy) use to schedule an interview as I do not want to return until I have to. Will they use phone, email or postal service.

Thank you for any experience shared.

It varies by consulate. But for the UK, i think you can call the Dept of State to find out what your interview date is, if they haven't told you already. TimsDaisy has the number in her sig.

whats good?
on I-134 if i need a sponsor do i just fill out a I-864 and include it with my 134 or do i just wait till uscis tells me that my income is not sufficient enough? thanks for all you responses!

Unless told other wise by the embassy, you will fill out I-134 for the interview. I-864 is used later after your finance is here and you file for AOS.

If you need a co-sponsor you can take care of that right away, otherwise your fiances visa will be denied until you do provide more sponsorship info.

As far as I know they don't require it. I-134 is used by most embassies and consulates, but not all. You will have to fill out the I-864 later during AOS.

You could try to request that it be moved by contacting the consulate. But they interviewers will also speak English (I'm assuming your fiancee isn't that good with English?), and who knows if you ask they may have someone who can speak Russian.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPolice Report & K1 pending

Hello

I am from Malaysia, applying K1 fiance visa, and still waiting for NOA2 to be approval, submitted my case since 20th of Apr, and my last updated date is 24th of Apr (NOA1). My fiance tried to call USCIS and asked why our case is taking so long to process (so do others), but he said the phone call is an automated phone call, do you guys know the number to call them with people talking on the phone?

And I already requested my police reports from Malaysia and UK (was stuyding there before for more than 3 years) together with my case submitted to USCIS, and got my Malaysia & UK police reports at mid of Apr, and mid of May respectively. Can I know how long is the police report valid for? Am worried and dunno if I should request for an update report since my NOA2 has not been approved yet.

I am still worried about my k1 visa, I just hope everything goes well, and get approval very soon. Good luck for all of us who is waiting for the visas.

Mcfei

Police reports are vaild 1 year, I think. Don't worry, most of the April filers are still waiting for NOA2. Best of luck for your journey.

Validity varies by country. Some are only valid for 3 months, while others are valid for 6 months or a year.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter from employer

Perhaps this has been discussed so my apologies. Has anyone had problems getting a letter from their employer with regards to the I-134? Reason I ask is I had my former employer do one for me before I moved on to my current job. I'm suspecting that we will be getting our NOA2 in about a 1.5/2 months. I'll have worked at my new job for about 2/2.5 months by this time. I'm not sure how they will react when I ask for this and what they might assume. Anyone have any advice on how they dealt with this especially if questions started to be asked?

Just tell them why you need it, and what needs to be included on the letter.

Is there a place that my fiance can download the forms necessary for her interview BEFORE she recieves the packet in the mail from the embassy? (I'm not sure what forms SHE is required to fill out on her end) How old can the police background check be? Her country is Colombia - and from what she is told, it takes a while to get the police check. We are hoping for an interview in December (if we are lucky) and want to be prepared. Can someone lead me in the right direction or let me know what forms she is going to need. (I already know which ones I need).

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow long is it taking to get an interview in Montreal?

I've been searching on here for some timelines as far as how long its taking between getting your NOA2 and getting an interview scheduled in Montreal for a K-1 visa but I'm getting a bit confused... I'm seeing anywhere from a month to 4+ months... what is the average scheduling time right now for an interview in Montreal? Does it matter if you are doing a K-1 or a K-3 interview or are they both the same time frame?

Thanks!

Its taking something like 6 months to have an interview in Montreal. K-1 and K-3 are about the same. The only way you can speed that up, is if the petitioner is in the military and has orders to be deployed.

Its not unusual. A significant percentage of people end up in AR or AP after the interview. Most are out of it within a few weeks, but some can take months and even years. Call the consulate weekly and keep on the case. If it starts taking a long time, you can contact the congress person in your disctrct to see if they can do anything to speed it up.

hello to everyone.

i have psoriasis for more than 10 years now. i know it's not a contagious disease but still it bothers me alot. do you think i will have a problem on my medical exam when they learn that i have psoriasis?

my fiance asked me to have my general check up so to lessen my worriness and to make sure i'm fit and can pass my medical exam (if time comes)... had my xray, blood test (several parameters), urinalysis, etc... so far no negative results. my fiance is so positive that everything will be fine and that soon i can be with him.

i plan to get a medical certificate from my dermatologist prior to my med exam schedule.

can psoriasis hinders my dream to be with my one true love and live with him in the US? :help:

thanks for any advise/opinion you can give.

PS... anyone knows a good dermatologist near carlisle, PA?

Very doubtful. It appears to be a genetic disorder not something caused by a virus or bacteria. Immigration is more concerned with things like HIV, TB and Hepatitis.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionSalvadoran Embassy/Visa Info Line, So frustrating
QUOTE (Jess & Edgar @ Sep 11 2007, 12:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
At the end of August we received packet 4 telling us to go ahead and call to set up an interview. We called at the start of September (everyone else on here seemed to get put on the list at the start of the next month so we waited until then) and we weren't on the list. They told us to call back on the 11th, today, because the list should be updated by then. So, we called back today and they said we still aren't on the list. I'm so frustrated because not only are we not on the list but they said that they submitted a report to the embassy to get us on the list and then said, so check back in the first ten days of each month!!! How long do you really have to wait for your name to show up?

What the heck is the point of packet 4? It is nothing but a one page letter saying that everything is ready, what to bring to the interview and that you can now make your appointment. Why do they send it out before your name is even on the list allowing you to make an appointment? Is this just the lag time in getting the information from the embassy to the outsourced infoline folks in Mexico? If so, the new fees better improve their technology because there is no reason that they can't have real time updates.

Thanks for letting me rant. I'm just so ready for him to be here! I don't know how much more of this I can take.

Each embassy or consulate that conducts K-1 interviews may do it their own way. Also this part of the process is handled under the Department of State. The fees paid to the USCIS is under the Department of Homeland Security.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 4: US Consulate in Amsterdam, Netherlands question

Hey all,

I received packet 4 in the mail yesterday, and I had a question about the payment of the application fee for my interview.

In the letter it states the following:

FIRST: TRANSFER €80,- VISA PROCESSING FEE PER APPLICANT INTO OUR BANK ACCOUNT XX.XX.XX.XXX, WITH ABN-AMRO BANK. PLEASE MENTION YOUR PASSPORT NUMER AND NAME. THE BANK STATEMENT SHOWING THIS TRANSFER MUST BE PRESENTED ON THE FINAL INTERVIEW DATE AS PROOF OF PAYMENT. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO PAY THIS VISA APPLICATION FEE.

My question is:

Do I HAVE to use the ABN-AMRO bank to make the payment? The thing is, I have my account with the RABO-bank. Can I just use my own bank to transfer the fee to the Consulate's account number, or am I restricted to using the ABN-AMRO bank to make the transfer?

The sentence they use can mean 2 things: Either the Consulate has it's account with the ABN-AMRO bank, OR they demand that the applicant uses the ABN-AMRO bank to make the transfer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I want to do this as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like that is the bank they have an account with. Just transfer the fee to their account and keep the receipt as proof of payment.

2 possible options

Have your fiancee move to the UK to live with you. Maybe move back in the future on a spousal visa.

Look into the possibility of self-sponsoring. Since you cant count on income, you will need a significant amount of assets. Not sure if your house would be considered enough.

Here is another option. Your US fiance can get a job. Easy to come by to make 17,000 a year which puts you in extreme poverty.

This way he would not have to impose on relatives nor friends.

Depends on your education, experience and where you live. In a city it may not be as difficult, but in a small town it could be.

For the I-134, you only need to meet 100%. However, it is somewhat up to the consulate, or embassy to determine if you make enough for the support requirement. That form only covers the 90 days non-immigrant stay or until you file for AOS.

The more important one is I-864 which is filed with AOS. With that you have to meet the 125% requirement or you are out of luck. Assets can be used to supplement your income, but you have to take the value of the asset and divide it by 5. $4000 will only give you about $800 dollars as "income". If you can acquire more savings, you might be able to make it.

Yeah the I-134 is a little vague. So it is open to the CO to make his or her own determination. But since a K-1 will result in AOS, they may based it on the 125% requirement.

My last job was about a year ago. Since then I have moved from Boston to Seattle and have basically been helping my family re-organize two of their businesses. I was making around $70k. Now, all I have to show is $50k in Stocks and another $50k in my savings account.

Should I fill out the form with a co-sponsor or should I wait to see what they require?

100K in assets is acutally suffcient to sponsor using only assets. You will need to include statements from each of the accounts.

To be safe however, it would be a good idea to have a co-sponsor lined up. Even if you don't actually have to use them.
