I am declaring it now..." it will happen, it will happen, it will happen..."

Sister Nagishkaw, how about calling the USCIS asking for the case status, who knows they never update your case online. That was what I did. Though Dan told me about the approval, I still insisted to hear it by myself. However, I was so nervous to speak with the person, that when he asked what my name was, I answered, " I'm calling from Indonesia..". Dohhh stupid donkey :bonk:
Stand up on your knees, sister, We're all with you here.

Did I read right?? You are approved??? OMG! Congratulations !

I called twice, both of them said that it was approved. Oh... I hope they were very true about it. It will be ugly if it isn't right. I already put it on my signature, and I already spread the news here. Hahah !

I used the calling about an RFE trick to get someone in CSC. Even though our online status hasnt updated, according to the operator, our case has been approved. But I'll wait for an NOA2 to come in the mail before I start getting excited.

Congrats!!! (in advance  )

I hope that holds true for all of us who have gotten touched recently

Thank you !. Give them a call tomorrow and ask if you get any RFE. That was what we did. Hoping to see approvals from another february filers here.

I am getting discouraged, myself. I know you all are quite sick of hearing my boring, tired out rhetoric, but dang ! 14 months is a long time to wait . I wish this would just be over with. I'm letting doubt enter my mind, such as " What if I get a RFE? " or " What can they come up with this time to deny us? " or the latest one, " What if they lost my petition? ". I'm driving myself mad, I tell you.
I know , the "IF" word....(I) .....(F)ear. Must be the :diablo:

QUOTE (lostGurl18 @ Feb 12 2008, 10:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
here is the story:

yesterday i got the email link for answering the ds-230 with affidavit of support.
im happy to receive it as few more steps its getting to the finish line (almost )
however, as what was advise by the VJ'ers they said to request tax transcript over the phone. I did aafter I get off from work. Waited 10 mins to speak an agent. Gave some informations about my american spouse ( SSN, etc ) wholah guess what they said that they dont have any records of financial taxed filed since then.

scenario:

- his only 22 years
- works part time to his uncle and mother ( who eventually who owns a business Contractual business and Day Care Center )
- who is at the same doing schooling
- i have a father/sister who are permanent resident card holder + a filipino friend (american citizen) who is willing to be my joint sponsor

after i heard that from Ms. Johnson ( IRS dept ) I dont know if im going to faint or what.
i have no more recourse. dreams shattered.

do i have to say goodbye to VJ now? Help. Thanks. Godbless everyone.

You do have recourse, but you need your USC spouse to do a couple of things.

File back taxes for each year he has made over the minimum.

If he does not make enough to solely sponsor you, he needs to have a joint sponsor also fill out the same form.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNew vaccination requirement
QUOTE (Ahmed N Cheryl @ Feb 12 2008, 07:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi found this in the National Visa site today while I was browsing around.....thought I would post it.

New Vaccination Requirements for IV Applicants

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICANTS CONCERNING VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS

Recent changes to United States immigration law now require immigrant visa applicants to obtain certain vaccinations (listed below) prior to the issuance of an immigrant visa. Panel physicians who conduct medical examinations of immigrant visa applicants are now required to verify that immigrant visa applicants have met the new vaccination requirement, or that it is medically inappropriate for the visa applicant to receive one or more of the listed vaccinations:

-- mumps
-- measles
-- rubella
-- polio
-- tetanus and diphtheria toxoids
-- pertussis
-- influenzae type b (Hib)
-- hepatitis B
-- varicella
-- pneumococcal and
-- influenza.

In order to assist the panel physican, and to avoid delays in the processing of an immigrant visa, all immigrant visa applicants should have their vaccination records available for the panel physician''s review at the time of the immigrant medical examination. Visa applicants should consult with their regular health care provider to obtain a copy of their immunization record, if one is available. If you do not have a vaccination record, the panel physician will work with you to determine which vaccinations you may need to meet the requirement. Certain waivers of the vaccination requirement are available upon the recommendation of the panel physican.

Only a physician can determine which of the listed vaccinations are medically appropriate for you, given your age, medical history and current medical condition.

K-1 is non-immigrant visa, you just need the vaccines done before AOS.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhich documents require originals?
QUOTE (waitman @ Feb 23 2008, 02:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello all, may your waits be less painful and their fruit rewarding!

I'm the USC petitioner for our I-129f and have been following the NOLA book on marriage immigration while working on our application. In the chapter that deals with consular processing, there is a checklist of items that my foreign fiance has to bring for the interview at the consulate. The list seems to suggest that the ORIGINALS of the following are required:

1. NOA2 Notice
2. USC's proof of citizenship such as a naturalization certificate or a birth certificate (they've gotta be kidding!)
3. Other items submitted as a part of the original I-129F (plane boarding passes or receipts).

Is that really right? If possible, I'd prefer sending down copies since should the originals be lost it's gonna be a major pain to replace them.

What have you done about the above? If a copy is acceptable, should it be notarized or will my scanner and printer alone do the job?

Thanks!

1. The consulate/embassy does not even need it. But you will need it for AOS. Even then, only a copy is needed.
2. Not needed for USC, unless included as part of I-134. But then a copy is fine. For the beneficiary, the original is needed with a translation if requested.
3. Copies are fine, the consulate will get the petition that you sent to the USCIS. So you don't need to provide more copies of the evidence you have already sent.

The only thing you need originals or certified copies for are the beneficiaries birth certificate, divorce decrees if either of you have had previous marriages and police certificate.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAlternate Sponsor Question...
QUOTE (Hi Im GOIY @ Feb 23 2008, 04:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The biggest thorn in my side throughout this process has definitely been the Affidavit of Support and I am currently searching for an alternate sponsor to make up for the fact that I'm a college student only working part time.

My grandfather is willing to do it but we have a problem, maybe. He is already sponsoring someone who is on his way here from Canada. If he's sponsoring him, can he also co sponsor my fiance? Is it just not allowed or does he just have to meet a higher income requirement because of this guy technically being listed as his dependent..?

Just wondering because I am having absolutely no luck finding the answer on the internet haha....

Any help would be sooooo appreciated happy.gif

THANK YOU!!!

He can do it, but he will have to meet the higher income requirement.

Hi there,
Our petition has been approved on March 19th. No hard copy received yet. For you who have dealt with US embassy in Jakarta, what should I do now to schedule an appt? Should I just wait for packet 3? Will they call me notifying about what I will have to do? Does it make sense to take medical check now?
Pls give me the whole details regarding this!
Many thanks in advance people smile.gif

The petitioner may get packet 3 via email if an email address was provided.

You will get a checklist of documents required to be turned in at the embassy for document inspection. Once you are done with that, you can end up with an interview as soon as the next day. You will need to complete your medical before document inspection. As far as when you can schedule that, it depends on the clinic. In some cases you have to wait until you have packet 3, but some clinics may let you schedule now.

Hi there... I have a stupid question for a stupid mistake...

What happens if the sealed package that came along with the fiancee' visa was opened? I checked around the web but all I could find is the consequences of trying to enter the U.S.

I guess what I need to know is, what should my Fiancee' do and what kind of delay should we expect from this?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read, and hopefuly respond...

Contact the embassy, have them reseal it. Don't enter the US until this has been done.

As i remember, way back in college days, our school gave us 2 shots of TT1 and TT2 but they haven't given the rest of it. But majority to their requirement, I haven't hd those yet. Should I start completing them all as soon as possible? Or it is not necessary to have those vaccines on me?

I'm kind of scared to having all those shots! OUCH! Lol! I hate needle to be honest. crying.gif

You will be given any missing vaccines with the medical. It doesn't have to be done in your home country, but it will probably be cheapest.

If the visa is approved and in the passport, you are done with this stage. You have 6 months from the date of issue to enter the US, and 90 days after entry to be married.

After that you will move into the AOS stage which should be filed as soon as possible after marriage.

QUOTE (Shani682 @ Dec 24 2009, 02:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
If you have no strong ties to your home country and are dirt poor the US embassy will treat you like you'll want to come over and stay for good illegally... Good reason!
My first ever US visa was a B1/B2 valid for 1 year... I don't think I was treated badly at all as they treat everyone the same (with suspicion - if you have nothing to hide, sure you're not gonna stay here illegally then you'll have no problem!) So I used that a few times, when it ran out I applied for another and got granted a 10 year multiple entry tourist visa... It's all about trust, and if you get denied they usually have good reason... That's why I recommend before getting married on a K1 to try and visit on a tourist visa first, you should think twice about marrying someone the US embassy would not even allow into the country as a visitor!

Half of the illegal immigrants in the US, did not enter illegally. They used a tourist or other visa and then never went home. So there is a lot more scrutiny of temporary visas than there are for immigration based visas.

I just wanted to know about country being a high or low fraud in visa processing, and how do u know if your country is in the high or low fraud rate.thank's

This depends on the country you are taking about. Beneficiaries in Vietnam and China have a much more difficult time to get a visa than a beneficiary in Indonesia. That has to do with the practice of family members arranging marriage of relatives for the sole purpose of immigration.

Beneficiaries in middle east and some north African countries often have issues because certain names are very common and they are likely to be on lists associated with terrorist groups. A lot of extra processing time is required to clear that person.

If you moved to another state, you probably should update your state ID.

But that said, your current mailing address will be what is used, not what is on your state ID. Its unlikely your state ID will even be used.

US Citizenship General DiscussionDual citizenship

I have already been in the US under a student visa for two years. Would that count as 2 of the three years necessary? Do I have to apply for a permanent resident status before applying for citizenship?

No, time under other status would not count. Only time as PR would count. The time to apply for citizenship is 3 years through marriage and 5 years if you got a greencard through another route like H1-B.

You will also need to spend most of that time within the US, a long absence from the US could reset the time until eligible for citizenship.

With dual citizenship, the US would not provide aid if you were in some kind of trouble within Canada like they would if you needed assistance in other countries.

As long as you remain a citizen, you will need to file income taxes, even if you are not residing in the US. Although the first 80 thousand (Exemption changes each year, check with the IRS for current level) or so is exempt from any taxes. There are some treaties regarding double taxation with certain countries.

No, credit history does not affect immigration or citizenship.
