I just wanted to say, again, how much I heart.gif the US postal system.

heart.gif the postal system here. It's soooooo much faster than Canada Post. laughing.gif

CanadaPOE FLIGHT EXPERIENCE FROM CAN TO US
I also had a pretty easy POE experience at YVR. Definitely give at least an hour ahead of the regular time you'd give yourself to get settled in the airport.

Just... make sure they don't misclassify you in the system, or bad things happen. whistling.gif

High five, sister! Congratulations on the great news. Now we can mull about our cases together! biggrin.gif

Got a nice email in my box which said (amidst the bureaucratic blah blah blah) "your case has been transferred to CSC for processing" biggrin.gif

I don't want to jinx this sudden good luck, but after the paperwork mess I'm sooooooo thrilled! kicking.gif

and yes, the only option i have now is to fly to seattle then drive up north dry.gif

Yeah, this is also what I'm going to do when I visit my family in Vancouver (and renew my passport while I'm there). Luckily I do have friends that I'm planning to visit in Seattle, so it's a bonus at least biggrin.gif

CanadaGo taxes!
So, here's my question:

Being newly married in October 2007, they ask some questions about Bee. Do I report his income at all, or his income made in the States, or whatever? The guy I called at CRA said that I should report his American income, but that doesn't make sense to me, and my tax software (yay for free QuickTax from RBC) isn't being very helpful about reporting my foreign spouse blink.gif

CanadaYVR Int'l Airport - Port of Entry
I gave myself a total of 3 hours to get through YVR on the day of my POE, and was bored as heck waiting for my 8am flight. laughing.gif Depending on what the pedestrian traffic is going to be like, I'd say at least a half-hour to an hour for your K1 processing should be good.

That was a brilliant letter. I almost wished you'd shown it to the IO just to see if you could get a laugh. Probably would've made CBP's day! laughing.gif

Target? Oh hell, you just opened a can of worms...

CanadaDressing for your interview
At my interview both myself and my fiance wore nice dress shirts and jeans. I don't think it had any impact on the interview at all since the interviewer could only see us from the waist up, but if it makes you feel more assured, go for it. good.gif

CanadaPeace Arch POE question
Okay, I found it:

QUOTE
The List A document entitled, ‘‘unexpired foreign passport with an attached Form I–94 indicating unexpired employment authorization,’’ has been replaced by ‘‘an unexpired foreign passport with an unexpired Arrival-Departure Record, Form I–94, bearing the same name as the passport and containing an endorsement of the alien’s nonimmigrant status, if that status authorizes the alien to work for the employer.’’

Essentially, an unexpired I-94 with your passport should suffice. Problem is, whether the employer will be comfortable with just that is another thing tongue.gif

CanadaPeace Arch POE question
Don't think an EAD stamp is needed anymore - from recent rumors only the I-94 is proof enough. I'm not familiar with the new procedures though, just seen it around the boards.

I tried...I really did. I tried so dam hard to stay out of OT...but I just had to add my 2.5 cents worth on that Canadian thread. Why oh why do people have to start such garbage? *sigh* How would all those British feel if someone started such a thread about them...or the Filipinas...or the Mexicans...or the MENA men?

There are days I wish I was home....in Nova Scotia. THIS is one of them. sad.gif

I'm not even going to bother posting in that thread - maybe it was meant as a lighthearted joke or maybe it was meant as a serious question, but it's just degenerating into a "you need to lighten up when we make these stereotypical conclusions about you" bent.

To boot, I'm overly aggravated due to my lack of sleep from working so much. sad.gif

QUOTE (Krikit @ Aug 20 2007, 12:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
There was a really rude and nasty clerk "helping" me who insisted that miles and kilometers were exactly the same thing and "what was my problem". She then took me out to my car and demanded that I "prove" to her that the odometer reading was in kilometers. This was after she "guaranteed" that "ALL Fords are built exactly the same way." This left me having to explain that Canada was on the metric system and not the US system of measurement. Even after I pointed out to her the letters of the alphabet which were arranged in such a way as to read "km/h" on the display, she still insisted that it didn't prove it wasn't miles.

I blame the American education system. whistling.gif
