CanadaMedical Appt in Vancouver

2 more Q,(1) what about if u dont have ur vaccination from birth will he give u all the shot u needed, (2), did he give u copy of ur vaccination sheet to transcribe to i-693 when u get to states.

1) He will, but if you can do it through your provincial medicare it's best as it's free, and the panel physician will bill you for the immunizations. Just be sure to bring proof that you've taken the vaccinations beforehand if you decide to do it prior to the medical exam.

2) I received a copy of the DS-3025 for my own records. It should be in an envelope stamped on the front, "Immunization Records". If you don't get it for whatever reason, ask for it.

CanadaMedical Appt in Vancouver
I would wait until you have the interview date in your hands before you schedule the medical, especially if you're travelling from out of town. It just makes it much easier to make travel plans, and it's not like the consulate checks up on you to make sure that you've got your medical set up already smile.gif

CanadaNew things to think about - yahoo!
Yes, you're good to go smile.gif

You can also get a blood test done for chicken pox, which is what I did since I didn't remember if I had it either. laughing.gif

CanadaVancouver - When do you get your Visa
You should be able to pick it up the next day at the consulate at around 2.30pm. So I'd book for an evening flight the next day smile.gif

CanadaFlying to US -- border tips please
I flew to visit Bee while our K1 was processing, and the only thing they asked to see was proof of my return ticket. I know misa also visited her husband every three weeks while her K3 was processing, and she says she never had any issues flying back and forth.

You can visit each other for now until August 2008. Now during these visits there is no reason for your girl to reveal that she is visiting "Fiancé" that is a no no. If she has a job and can provide job letters and pay stubs and bills etc then let her carry such info on each visit. For myself I was said i was visiting family and friends. Never did they ask about Fiancé so i was not obliged to reveal anything. if they ask tell the truth always. Even if they know that she has a fiancé in the US Her job and other ties to Canada could let her go through but there is always the possibility of denial because the Border agent has sole discretion on deciding who goes. Assuming that you visit each other until you August 08 then at that time you can get married at the court house in the US and then have your traditional wedding whenever if you want. This way it is considered a spontaneous decision to get married and then you can apply for her but she cannot leave until processing is done usually takes no more than 6 months for green card. I was to do this all over again i will do this one.

If you're thinking about it now, wouldn't that qualify as "intent' right there, and not a spontaneous decision?

CanadaHow long is the interview wait in Vancouver?
Back in June or July, once you had your Packet 3 faxed back to the consulate the wait was roughly a month or so. I don't think it's changed much since then.

CanadaEpiphany.....that rhymes with Tiffany!
I was super nervous flying out to meet him - it hadn't been the first time that I'd flown to meet someone over the internet, but those had all been friends, so it was different. He brought me flowers and food for the 2-hour drive home from JFK. I got lost in the airport trying to find him, and turned around to see him walking towards me. I just walked into his arms - and knew I didn't want to let him go.

Fond memories of us driving back and forth from Philadelphia to JFK - I had to fly into JFK because of the way-higher cost and extra layover for me to fly into PHL, so Bee would pick me up. I couldn't imagine being in his shoes when he had to drive home after dropping me off at the airport... but no more of that!

CanadaEpiphany.....that rhymes with Tiffany!
I definitely have that feeling, not every day, but often enough. Today Bee turned to me and said, "Can you imagine that last year, we were talking on Skype until we both fell asleep at our desks?"

Lemme just say, it is nice to have someone keeping my feet warm at night. wub.gif

CanadaI'm going to see the LEAFS!
Vancouver! I was a regular 'Nucks fan throughout high school. Got to see only one game though, but it was the one after the infamous Bertuzzi/Moore incident. You can bet that all the players were very polite to each other during that game laughing.gif

CanadaI'm going to see the LEAFS!
I confess, I haven't been watching much hockey since I got over here. Bee wants to take me to a Flyers game though (not because he likes the Flyers, just because he thinks a hockey game would make me feel less homesick).

So, when's the big game?

Canadavaccination record for K1 visa
If your doctor is also administering the vaccinations for you, tell him to write a letter stating that you received your vaccinations. Same goes for the blood test if you need to prove immunity to chicken pox - either get a photocopy of the results or a letter from the doc.

CanadaAny experience with the US consulate in Calgary?
QUOTE (janamber @ Dec 8 2007, 12:32 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Thanks for your responses... I wonder if this is going to be a problem. When we sent in our I-129F we stated on it that it be sent to the consulate in Calgary (not realizing until now that it can't be processed there). Will it be automatically forwarded to Vancouver from the NVC? (I live in British Columbia) or will it go to Calgary and get forwarded from there? Perhaps I should call someone to make the change?

Don't worry, your petition will be forwarded to the correct consulate by the NVC. smile.gif

CanadaK-1 Vancouver experiences?
One thing to mention is that when you go to pick up your visa, there might be a lineup outside the side door - you're able to bypass the lineup just by telling them that you're picking up your K visa. Otherwise, you'll probably be waiting forever - it was still there when we left with our big white packet!

CanadaK-1 Vancouver experiences?
Back in August was when I had my interview, in the early afternoon. Bee and I were really impressed by the efficiency of the staff. They were polite and friendly, definitely not abrupt and rude like I was expecting. I have a more thorough review in my timeline, but I remember emailing the Vancouver consulate a few times and they were always prompt in their responses. Our interview took about ten minutes in total after all the waiting for fingerprints and document preparation, and we picked up my visa the next day.

CanadaAnother packet 3 thread.. LOL
Which consulate are you going through?

For the Vancouver consulate, all that was required was the checklist from Packet 3 and DS-230, part one. All the other forms (DS-156, DS-156K, etc) were taken to the consulate interview.

CanadaIs this it?!
So on Friday I went back to SSA to re-apply for another SSN (yeah, again, yaaaaay). After I explained that it was the second time I was there and what happened the first time etc, they gave me the usual rude song and dance about how they needed to send off my documents to verify again at DHS. My taking Bee's last name is apparently a sign that I am a huge, stinky troublemaker laughing.gif

Anyway, I got this letter today, which makes me wonder that maybe there is a nice person up there looking out for me, after all:

This is a receipt to show that you applied for a Social Security card on December 7th 2007. You should have your card in about two weeks. [blah blah blah about working with authorization] If you do not receive your Social Security card within two weeks, please let us know.

So, I guess I got approved, huh?

CanadaAny of you planning to immigrate back to Canada someday?
I love Vancouver - it's beautiful, clean, lots of opportunity for outdoor sports like skiing and hiking, but the cost of living there right now is ridiculously expensive. If housing prices hadn't been so frightfully high, Bee and I might have stayed there.

We've been talking about Paris recently as well. I've never been, but he really loved the city. Maybe it's just the romantic part in us both wub.gif

CanadaHow did you get by w/o working?
While our petition was in process, I started saving up money from my job to accommodate the jobless period. For moving expenses, I sold most of my stuff to help counter the UPS fees. As a farewell gift my family and close friends also gave me a sum of money to take with me smile.gif

EI is also a great way to get some money while jobless.
