I'm a geek - I spent the last lost-track-of-time hours playing Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on my new Nintendo DS (a Hanukkah gift from the hubby).

If that's enough to make you go "Whaaaa?" I sat next to Bee while he stormed through Mass Effect on his XBOX 360 laughing.gif

We also tried cooking pot roast tonight, but the instructions on the TJ's label were waaaaaaay wrong and we didn't let the roast slow-cook long enough. We should've known that there was something wrong with cooking a pot roast for only an hour. dry.gif

Yeah Liz, it's $0.69 each. I had to go to the post office and ask for stamps to mail stuff to Canada because my MIL got me those Liberty Bell stamps instead and all my Canadian mail kept getting sent back laughing.gif

I had to add the swirly things though since someone had regular nini, and I didn't want to knock off Stacey's idea biggrin.gif

Whew! I had the biometrics appointment today and that was a bit of a gong show. Bee almost got us lost getting to the office, I waited for 45 minutes, and then they had trouble getting decent prints from my fingers. But it's done and I'm alive and all that, and my picture for my future EAD/GC looks so kyooooot. biggrin.gif

Bee and I got a pound of this bold coffee called Phocea from this local coffee chain called La Columbe - we ground and brewed up coffee this morning and the smell was like heaven. I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but even I was impressed laughing.gif

He drinks it black, I have mine usually with milk and sugar.

Speaking of customer service, when my Sister goes to the store in Nebbie, when she says thank you, 8 times out of 10 they answer with 'uh-huh' - what's up with that?

Oh, that's so annoying! The worst part is, Bee does that and it drives me NUTS. I'm starting to get used to it, but I've mentioned it to him before and he's like, "What's the big deal?" Blaaaaaaah.

I think I want to change my name to just "Nini" so that I can stop getting addressed as "thx Bee" or "so, which are you?".

Stacey - we used to have squirrels and skunks running around the rafters of our house. My aunt was so cheap that she "exterminated" them herself. Don't ask me how, but the skunks made the house reek for DAYS.

I am ridiculously sad today because EI Canada called me today to let me know that they weren't sure if my claim could go through, due to the low number of insurable hours I've collected over the past 52 weeks. This is what I get for working so little while I was in college. sad.gif

On the other hand, I was seriously impressed that they called me back so that I wouldn't crank up a long-distance bill. Now that's some amazing customer service.

The problem is, I hate to do that when 1) it's $20 or so, and 2) I spent way, way, WAY more on a new mouse yesterday.

Bee and I made madeleines yesterday before he headed to work for his evening shift. By that night all 40 of them were gone. laughing.gif

I honestly didn't notice the difference, but maybe that's because I was using a Williams-Sonoma recipe. I'm so happy that they turned out though, even though cleaning the pan was such a b*tch.

I had my first Canadian Kit-Kat yesterday, and I could tell the difference, but I thought it was quite subtle.

I'm going to have to make sure I grab some Coffee Crisp and other Nestle ice creams when I move Kristy over here.

There's a lot of that going around. My mom's VISA card was hacked some how. She doesn't use the card except for emergencies so we caught it after a few weeks. The scumbag ran up a bill of over $1,300 but the good news is that the moron didn't realize that the card has a zero balance and a $20,000 limit. CIBC took care of it, but you can't be too careful these days.

Bleh. I had that happen to me too. On the day I was moving into my new house (when I was single) I had someone call me on my cell to tell me that VISA was trying to get in touch with me at my old land line. So, in the midst of me trying to tell the movers where to put things (I was by myself) I also had to discuss fraudulent purchases with the credit card company on a crackling cell phone. Apparently I managed to have a night on the town in Toronto (to the tune of $1,500 at Liquid) and purchase $500 worth of gas in Thornhill (I must have been filling my boat) before VISA shut them down. (Thornhill!?) When I received the copies of the transactions, it didn't even LOOK like my signature, so obviously everyone who processed the card didn't double-check the sig. Which makes me glad that those businesses didn't get their money. What a pain.

I don't even want to get started about VISA and fraud. Too many memories of people giving me BS at my old job for checking their signature on the credit card. Here's for being a good person sleep.gif
